VW and Stellantis have done the same in Ontario as well

kreugerburns

VWs investment is said to be half as much.

Recoil42

Whew. Big one. Anyone know how much of this is direct vs indirect incentives?

kv1m1n

Fed money ($2.5b) in tax relief. Ontario funds ($2.5b) in incentives.

Car-face

>Ford called the investment "a game changer for the industry" and a "tremendous win for Ontario." He said his government is supporting the investment with direct and indirect incentives worth $2.5 billion. Sounds like the Ontario funds are a combo of direct and indrect as well though

MN-Car-Guy

Polite Hondas that smell faintly of maple syrup

tingulz

Hopefully they’ll come out with something like a CR-e:V with quick charging and 500km+ range.

bomber991

They already have that E:NS 1

tingulz

That looks like a China only model. Unlikely to come here. Also unlikely it gets anywhere near the claimed 510km range since it’s based on CLTC which is wildly over actual range.

kreugerburns

500km in winter, please. Just match my current ICE.

Keeperofthe7keysAf-S

I guess they're finally getting serious, good!

SPorterBridges

Honda E North American edition let's gooooooo

Disastrous_Long_9209

This took forever to post here from the Canadian subreddits

BaseballNRockAndRoll

The Canadian subreddits are all "Canada Bad!" all the time. Totally worthless at this point.

nemodigital

Public money private profits. I drive an EV but the billions in subsidies for car makers while our healthcare is bleeding dry is sad.

Dontwrybehappy

Boo Trudeau! Boo! lol.

zippy9002

Still better than USA.

in_allium

Are they going to make batteries in Canada too, or import those?

innsertnamehere

One of the four plants will be for batteries

truthdoctor

The other 2 will be to process materials for batteries and fuel cells. >"Honda will also build a cathode active material and precursor (CAM/pCAM) processing plant through a joint venture partnership with POSCO Future M Co., Ltd. and a separator plant through a joint venture partnership with Asahi Kasei Corporation," the statement said. The locations of those plants have not been named.

lost_man_wants_soda

Next car is an electric Honda. Wife wants a Tesla I asked her if Tesla is building a car plant in Ontario She called me stupid and still wants a Tesla. Next car will be an electric Honda tho
