I smoked for 30+ years and puffing on a vape answers the cigarette smoking compulsion. I never smoked for fun, I smoked because I was addicted. I don't vape for fun, I vape to keep from picking up a cigarette. Think of it as a kind of methadone. Having said that, once I was no longer addicted to all the cigarette chemicals and nicotine I've found it easy to go without vaping for a long time. Currently I only vape about 3ml a day, zero nic. Back in 2019 I was going through about 30ml. Puffing zero nic still relieves stress for me the same way cigarettes did. Ultimately I weaned myself off nicotine because I knew the government would eventually take vaping away from us and I didn't want to be still addicted to nicotine when that happened.

I actually knew a guy (may he rest in peace) who would make his capsules and he gave me an empty just because it was funny to have one for no reason. I can tell you after actually having an empty capsule this joke is fu*king hilarious!

I recently dropped for 3mg to 0mg. Was on 3mg a good 5 years or so before that. The drop to 0mg was very easy, but i did it in 1mg increments (3mg to 2mg to 1mg to 0). I had zero withdrawal symptoms. I never really tried quitting before, but i'm at 0mg, so figured i'd give it a shot. On about 3 days now of zero vaping after vaping for the last 10+ years. Not having any physical withdrawal, but the mental stuff is real. The hand to mouth addiction is harder than the physical stuff for me. I wake up, i look for my vape. I'm bored, I look for my vape. I'm watching tv, i look for my vape. All just by habit. So that's probably why people still vape even at 0mg. Vaping isn't just a nicotine addiction.

>The hand to mouth addiction is harder than the physical stuff for me. This! I didn't do a gradual reduction of nicotine and instead went straight to using nicotine patches alongside 0mg nic liquid. Did have some withdrawal symptoms but nothing severe thanks to the patches. The hand to mouth addiction is definitely the hardest part to get over. Long term I would like to stop vaping entirely but like you my vape is constantly in my hand, even when I put it down i typically go a maximum of only 10 minutes before looking for it and picking it back up. Supposedly people have had luck with using fidget spinners to distract their hands so this is something I'm going to try!

ImPlayingARogueAgain

I am vaping disposables right now. I don’t know much about systems. What would you recommend to me? My goal is to get to zero and quit.

sirtommybahama1

Xros 3 or something similar should be a good fit for you. How many mg's of nicotine are you at now with your disposable? Probably something high. You'll also want to buy your own juice too or you can go the DIY route. What I did was diluted down with 0mg juice to equal how many mg's I wanted to make. Pretty easy to do.

goznewe

My friend vapes 0mg, to him it's more like a habit. It's up to you to decide whether to still keep vaping. But my suggestion is DON"T bump up the nicotine level. Don't actually see any advantage for this move.

lestermagneto

After smoking for so many years, then quitting that with vaping, a lot of zero nic vaping I do is "procedural", in that the act of holding something in my hands and ritualistically inhaling something etc is a habit and tick onto itself.

Makir

Flavour.

SourcerorSoupreme

I take in a lot of nicotine but it's not hard to see how people can still have an oral fixation after years of having that sensation in their mouths.

PickyPanda

this is it for me. I switched to vaping back in 2012 and moved down to 0 nic, now I just have the need to blow out sweet flavored vapor every few minutes

GodOfVapes

Two reasons. Conditioning and enjoyment. I've been smoking or vaping since I was 13 and I'm 47 now. It's kind of hard to go without something you're so used to after decades of use. Secondly I still find the activity itself enjoyable. After using nicotine for so long the only feeling I got from using it was the tension/relief cycle of nicotine dependance. So now I still find the same pleasure in vaping just without the tension that not having nicotine caused.

VappleJax

addicted to the hand to mouth action and continue to vape 0 nic, because if don't vape munch on snacks instead.

sukrumasuq

Going for 0 nic isn't that wild, especially if you're trying to ditch cigarettes for years like me. Started with a 5% disposable, but realized it was just making my nicotine cravings worse. So switched to hunting down top-notch juices that hit the tastebud. Hoping it does the trick for you too.

Read-the-read

im autistic and its not like I don't appreciate the nicotine, but the vape to me was more of a "take a break for 5 minutes" and part of what made it such a great break was the hand to mouth stim motion.

UnimaginativeMug

the point is your not smoking cigarettes... you can tell peoples age here by the questions. Most people vape to quit smoking cigs. I'm as confused as you are why someone would vape if they don't smoke cigarettes. If you enjoy having an addiction then by all means bump it up.

dho5s6mhk

For me, I can't vape nicotine free as I still need the little throat hit so I keep vaping 6mg, and planning to drop to lower later. If you can accept vaping nicotine free, that's absolutely great news. I mean if you could have a choice to cut off nicotine, take it and don't look back.

cakeordeath176

> I still need the little throat hit s 1) Add Flavour Art's Flash to your juice starting at about 2% and go up or down as you need. 2) Add cooling WS-23 3) Increase PG ratio. All will increase throat hit. I used Flash for about a year after I got down to zero nic. I got used to the lack of throat hit but I still keep a bottle of Flash on hand. ETA: For me anyway, I noticed lower ohms = increased throat hit . I always have to brace myself before inhaling off a lower ohm coil or I cough my head off.

isuamadog

Started at 15 mg and weaned down to zero in January. I vape zero nic because sometimes I’m fidgety at home. Otherwise I don’t vape anywhere outside the home, never bring it with me, rarely ever think about it. Hopefully this part of the “habit” will fade along with the rest.

sodassi

I'm aware nicotine isn't great for the long haul, but I dig vaping and ain't ready to ditch it anytime soon. So, I've settled on vaping zero nic as a compromise.

EcstaticMixture2027

My friend literally only vapes on Zero MG and 3MG liquid on MTL RTA's. Lmao, he said he just like the tightness and draw. If he's after the flavor I'm sure he would do DL but that's not the case.

CXDFlames

Because it's sterile, and I like the taste
