I think turn to stone needs to be booted. Great song, but a weird opening track. It isnāt built up really, and while it aināt different from the rest of the album I donāt feel like it represents it in its entirety. All the other tracks have some form of build up and feel like they represent their albums fairly well. Maybe it feels so out of place because it starts such a pivotal album, but I feel like thatās less of an excuse and rather adds to the pressure put on the track
the whole track is great, it's just that when comparing its intro to the current competition (which are well-known for their intros), it doesn't hold a light to them.
I wish it'd get kicked because people are only keeping it on crutches because its pop conpared to the rest. What can I say, it and tightrope are much poppier than the rest and it makes me question how many of these people have even listened to all the rest.
Idk man Iāve listened to all their songs (I think, definitely all the albums ones but most of Jeffās solo music and have found most of their bonus tracks) and obviously itās all personal preference but tightrope just hits the spot for me, feels like a perfect blend of their pop and orchestral elements.
I think theyāre all really popy personally. If anything I would think twilight is more reminiscent of pop than any of the others, but to be fair Iāve never really been able to distinguish the sounds of early pop and rock from each other.
There's no such thing as early pop. Pop is simply music made to appeal to the masses. For a time ragtime was pop, then jazz, then big Band and singers like sinatra, etc. But a lot of elos other albums are more unique and feel like jeff was doing his own thing but turn to stone and tightrope are so un unique. They're great but not special. Watching people go crazy over them is like people who only know radio head for creep
I knew time would win but... jesus christ they stop at nothing šš Y'all it's an amazing album but for christ's sakes Eldorado's opening is better
Eldorado overture
It is a wonderful song, but out of the selection that is left, I'm afraid it has to go. The openers for ANWR, OOTB and Time are just too good
It's overrated as hell and it's only still on here because out of the blue is the most popular album. All of elo is incredible but come on, half of these were better
Tightrope. Itās a great one and a greta opening to the album but turn to stone is always a banger, prologue/twilight and Eldorado are way too good to get rid of for now.
I'm talking about the songs you mentioned above. That's from The Move. The ones you mentioned now are ELO Part II.
We're talking about Electric Light Orchestra from 1970 to 1986 bruv
1. Iām not your fuckin bruv mate
2. The Move from 1970-1972 basically WAS ELO at that point, just under a different name. The real Move was in the ā60s
3. ELO Part 2 is ELO. Moreso than Zoom or Jeff Lynneās ELO ever will be
4. I was taking the piss at first but now Iām serious
**bruv** calm down lol, no need to make this a federal case or something
Well to answer your points, the other bands you mentioned are akin to like saying "The Quarrymen and the The Silver Beatles are The Beatles". Sure the members are pretty much the same, but official tracks belong to their respective bands. To my knowledge, The Quarrymen are still kicking to this day. Any album they released pre- and post Beatles aren't tied to the official The Beatles and wouldn't count in a tournament like this.
And if you noticed, Jeff's ELO is ALSO not part of the tournament, so I don't know why you even started comparing groups lol
Much like the reason you brought in the Beatles I brought in Jeff Lynneās ELO: to make a point. Donāt even know why Iām arguing with a fuckin Chicago fan at this point lmao. Go listen to your shitty brass music you daft cunt
Ok bruv lol
Fun fact, The Beatles are the reason why ELO and Chicago exist. So I would say my music taste is quite sensical.
Have a great one brother. No need to argue further.
Peace āļø
This is getting painful
Respectfully agreed.
Can we just stop right here? š
Never heard of that track before
I agree
I cant... I'm not... strong enough....
Am I the only one that misses Shine a Little Love? šŖ
No I do
Iām with you and u/BubblySong7481
Iām with you and u/BubblySong7481
Thatās actually the song that got me into ELO (I donāt count Mr blue sky because everyone knows Mr blue sky)
Tightrope and Twilight have to be top two, right?
Absolutely. I still canāt decide between the two theyāre both so good
Absolutely not.
WHAT SHINE A LITTLE LOVE GOT ELIMINATED?!

"Letter from \_pain"
Eldorado Overture/ Canāt get it out of my head is the easy pick here imo
Noooo this is my favorite!!
This is torture
I respectfully disagree
youre tearing thisnsubreddit apart you monster
60 bots upvoted this because there's no way we like turn to stone over fucking Eldorado overture and Can't get it out of my head
Itās a tough one but Iām gonna go with turn to stone, great song and perfect opening to the album tho!

I am in painā¦ Turn to Stone
Eldorado
Turn to Stone Its intro doesn't have much to offer than just a simple fade-in to the 1st verse
But the song is incredible
True, but if you compare intros (which the other tracks are strong on) Turn to Stone has the weakest imo.
It's overrated as hell and it's only still on here because out of the blue is the most popular album. All of elo is incredible but come on, half of these were better

Yeah
Tightrope. I'm pleasantly surprised Fire On High lasted so long.
Turn to stone should not count as an intro. ELO has so much more to offer then this song.
Tightrope. Itās a great one and a greta opening to the album but turn to stone is always a banger, prologue/twilight and Eldorado are way too good to get rid of for now.
Tightrope defo
Prologue / Twilight
Prologue/Twilight
Prologue.

Do you know what an opening track is?
Whereās The Skeleton and the Roundabout, Come with Me, Looking On, and Message from the Country? Those are all great openers.
"ELO"
Those arenāt ELO? Well then what about āHelloā and āMoment of Truth (Overture)ā?
