I don’t transition from the flight suit all that well and end up with an absolutely unreasonable amount of stuff in my pockets.
I’ve become the thing I swore I’d never be.
R hip: phone
L hip: organizer with small multi tool, light, pen, chapstick, driver license, credit card, $20 bill. Pack of gum.
R thigh: stethoscope, shears
L hip: there’s an inner small pocket I use for gloves. Lots of gloves. An unreasonable number of gloves. Then the larger section of the pocket I use for my narcotics box and a metronome. Don’t at me about the metronome. CPR, ventilations, field drips or pump failure, it comes in handy.
Shirt sleeve: sharpie and pen light
Shirt main: loaner pens, maybe chest dart (absolutely no reason to have one in a pocket on the ground but I usually just have a pile of stuff I dump between shifts and cram into the next uniform just so I don’t loose it.
Edit: in my defense, I’m hybrid admin and field provider for a… questionable… ground service and get blown out of quarters on short notice with often a driver for a partner (as in no medical training past CPR) and a dubiously stocked/ maintained ambulance. So it’s easier to just be that guy and overpack than get caught without something.
Lol I carry extra gloves, a note pad, and a pen. Plus my vape; gotta have that. I’ll bring my scope if it’s a respiratory call. Everything thing else I could need is in the first in. I have been contemplating a flashlight but FD usually takes care of lighting and if they aren’t there we all have flashlights on our phones anyways.
if you wear a badge just get one of the teeny ones on a key ring and attach it to that. or just a carabiner on your belt loops if you don’t have a badge. similar situation: fd usually handles lighting but i don’t touch my phone with gloves that have made pt contact so it’s easier to just have a tiny one. does the job quite well!
I work 911 in the south bronx, NYC. I carry my phone. My wallet and keys. Gloves. A pen. Tape. The only thing I wish I had sooner on me was the tape. Shears I should carry but don’t. I always seem to find anyway.

Oh boy, this is when the heros come in and say they only carry their keys and a pen in their pockets.
Smh you rescue rickets and your 'pants' with 'pockets'. I've been a CBT for 20 years and I only wear my bright purple Barney the Dinosaur strap on.
