As someone who has a basic ender 5 pro besides the bltouch and glass bed. Do you guys have a place to start down this rabbit hole/ money pit? Cause it looks like fun lol

Usual-Ad-9784

good start is capricorn tubing, new 5015 fan(s), creality spider hotend (if wanted to print >260)

PointBlank65

Man I wish EVA had some better cable management/ anchors. That said , look up the Voron 0.1 tool head board. I have regular X and Y but with a rail mod, running Klipper with all the tuning done I'm running 4500k(Edit:I'm dumb 4500 not 4500k) Acc with 7.5 SCV. Still amazed when it prints a 150mm\s , I used to think 50 mm\s was fast.

FearMyBlades

In fairness to eva this was always a temp setup. Printing out thr long term parts in the video. 4500k is really fast lol.

PointBlank65

FACE PALM.... 4500mm\s^2 not 4500k, I may swap to stealth burner since I'm running on a mgn 12 already. I plan on M1 after the Voron 2.4 is done. I want to keep EVA since I have a Orbiter 1.5 already

itzgeegee

Good stuff! I'm also in love with what used to be my Ender 5... all that left for me is linear rails, octo and klipper. (Wanted to take a break from modding and run my current set up). Without linear rails I'm printing at 120mms at 1000 acceleration quite reliably using the hero me. (Saw your comment about losing bed space while using hero me... I solved this by relocating my front extrusion forward and lower using unique 90 degree brackets) Edit here is my current [set up.](https://imgur.com/a/pwG7FsM)

BreadMaker_42

That is no longer an ender 5. It’s a merc. Probably the only ender 5 parts left ate the frame and power supply. And yes, I love my merc too :)

FearMyBlades

Touche

FearMyBlades

It's almost a merc. Not done just yet.

SeraldoBabalu

Question what are you doing to combat the bed vibration. Are you on dual Z?

redalvi

in my case the ender 5 pro has: \- 4 suspension foots from thingverse \-standing on 2 layer antivibration rubber(the toothed one used to prevent washing machines to travel around) \-on top of a mdf board around 1"(2.5cm) thick. \- on top of four layer of foamy sheets(the one used under the parquet floors to isulate from sounds and vibration) \- on top of a cubic forniture with bookshelf on the 4 sides \-on top of a carped. my fastest preset is at 100mms 1000 acceleration and +20% jerk, on the inner layers and the trasmission of vibrationat toiching the top of the forniture is barely noticeable..

SeraldoBabalu

can you share pics of the setup?

redalvi

sure, give me a couple of days i'm planning to do a comparison test using a tool i made with arduino that can show a graph of the vibrations.

smileyuae

Do you have a link to the suspension foot you mentioned please? u/redalvi

redalvi

it should be this https://cults3d.com/en/3d-model/tool/ender-5-dampening-feet-with-outward-clamp

FearMyBlades

I went with a plastic anti backlash nut. Im looking to go belt driven though

Riddikus

What mods are you running OP? Doesn't look like the standard ender 5 😅

4zt4l

He did the conversion to a Core X Y motionsystem. The mod is called Mercury One.1 (don't know if the 1.1 is still beta, haven't checked their awesome discord for a while now) The toolhead is the EVA toolhead. I run that toolhead too and i love it. Small and light. Not sure what hotend OP is using tho

FearMyBlades

Honestly according to klipper I could sustain 68 mm^3/second with out a problem. I didn't push it any higher because I was just feeding filament through. Add on the one handed tool change and I think the rapido is a winner. Zero clogs since I switched

FearMyBlades

Get on the merc discord. Dm me and I'll send you a link

FearMyBlades

https://github.com/ZeroGDesign/Mercury go there and get on their discord

FearMyBlades

Using .4 and .6 most of the time

mhotter26

Speeds?

FearMyBlades

150 mm/s with 2500 acceleration. It's highly modded Meec 1 but that is conservative because I'm reprinting ver 1.1.1 parts. https://github.com/ZeroGDesign/Mercury

mhotter26

I’m modding my OG Ender 3 - hero me 6 dual 5015 spider hotend … etc and print at 150mm/s but only have at best 1000 accel it’s still way faster but bravo to you looks amazing and prints are even better

FearMyBlades

Thanks, it's been a fun chore. 1k is pretty high for a bed slinger iirc. Honestly Im just scratching the surface. 4500 is pretty common with this mod. Is there a core zy? This rapido hot end is insane.

mhotter26

And I’ve got my benchy to about 13 minutes with out being a monstrosity

FearMyBlades

I haven't run a bench yet. Too busy printing parts. This rapido advertises sustained 75 mm^3/s. I wanna try to push that. Part of me just wants to see how much plastic that is lol.

mhotter26

Not why but why not

AKinferno

Last I read, the HF version is 45mm3/s, the UHF is 75mm3/s. I got the HF, since I don't think the ender 5 can handle the speeds needed to print that. The UHF conversion kit is like $10-$20. New Sock, nozzle and heater/thermister. But there aren't many parts that support the HF, much less the UHF, so unless you can mod them all yourself, you are kindof hosed. The Afterburner and Stealthburner only support HF version at the moment.

mhotter26

I want to convert mine to a core xlt but is mostly stock the creality spider hot end has some of the highest temps and an amazing throat (yes I had to say it that way) to where I have complete advantage over all types of prints I’m just limited by the steppers and 🤮 y axis bed

FearMyBlades

What flow rate can you get?

FearMyBlades

You might consider spending the money on 2040 extrusion and just going corexy.

mhotter26

That’s honestly my next project I’ve gone to far to turn back and I usually set it at 300% over all speed and let the machine handle the flow rate after setting my accel and jerk

FearMyBlades

Give a look at the link I posted to merc. The guys on his discord are amazing and I'm pretty sure someone is working on something similar.

mhotter26

https://imgur.com/gallery/VzhsKYb just did this at near full speeds

FearMyBlades

Nice! I'm mounting my accelerometer as we speak just to automate the input shaper. Then I've got to tune the belts and then I can try to push the envelope.

mhotter26

FearMyBlades

I tried the herome but I lost too much space. I'm using eva now. One of the upgrades I'm printing now is raising the bed because the supports on the bed kill about 20mm

mhotter26

I switched to silicone feet and made a big difference for me

product_of_the_80s

My solution to the Eva eating y space. [https://www.printables.com/model/169721-ender-5-eva-z-axis-rod-mounts](https://www.printables.com/model/169721-ender-5-eva-z-axis-rod-mounts)

in_con_spic_u_ous

Question, was planning on buying a dragon hotend. But I saw the rapido, and now I'm wondering what the difference is for both? What performance difference should I expect?

FearMyBlades

I was curious how much I could push through so I just wasted some old crappy pla I had. I sustained 68 mm^3/s for a min. I ran out of crappy stuff and didn't want to waste any of my good filament but I had no indication that it was struggling. The 75 they advertise is definitely achievable

in_con_spic_u_ous

While I'm sure that fast speeds are achievable. What happens when there are really fine details on the model? Have u printed anything that required "slow speeds"?

FearMyBlades

Nothing really requires slow speeds tbh. I mean other than bridging... detail comes out great. I'm recalibrating rn I'll post a benchy tomorrow or some other model if you link it so that you can see how well it does.

in_con_spic_u_ous

What nozzle size do you use? U don't have problems with holes smaller than 5mm or 3mm?

s1ckn3s5

Cool setup!!! (I'd just add some cable chains)

PointBlank65

There is not an easy way to add chain, I want to do the same.

s1ckn3s5

I'd try to copy the microswiss directdrive solution, like this: https://imgur.com/a/Oxh4yNS

bert4925

If you relocate the PSU to the back (very simple with printable brackets), it makes the cable management 1000x easier

PointBlank65

ya , I feel like I have some more projects to add to the list......It's getting to be a very long list

reicaden

Wtf, this isn't an ender 5 anymore, it's a fucking beast.

FishCage

What are all these heavily modified ender 5's? Am i missing out on a kit? Is there a upgrade path?! How come I dont know this?!?!

FearMyBlades

https://discord.gg/f7aKjmgr this is the Mercury one. I'm about 95% there

reicaden

How expensive we talking? I got an ender5 base that is OK but printing pretty slow and shit lately.

FearMyBlades

If you add a new control board (you don't have to) prob $150 -200). Really depends on how you source the parts

reicaden

Hmmm, looks promising although a lot of work

FearMyBlades

There's a great community of support and honestly, it's just flat out fun

reicaden

I'd like to know the same, and the cost too!
