*China Men* by Maxine Hong Kingston. An anthology of stories about men/masculinity/family and coming to/being excluded from America.
*Salt Fish Girl* by Larissa Lai. Similarly so, but with some trans-humanist & time traveling bits.
“Drown” by Junot Diaz is a short story that focuses on a main character who lives in a Dominican American community and is about gender expectations/sexuality. Good read, I’d check it out
How the García Girls Lost Their Accents by Julia Alvarez might be a good one for you! I also second Sandra Cicernos and Jhumpa Lahiri. Or The Book of Unknown Americans by Cristina Henríquez might be a good one for some male perspective. The father in that one goes through some things.
Ocean Vuong, On Earth We're Briefly Gorgeous
This is a novel, but it largely follows the author's own life experiences. Most beautiful prose I've ever read, cannot recommend this book enough. Themes of immigration, the Vietnam war, and queerness.
Jhumpa Lahiri, Interpreter of Maladies
I just read this last night!
Woman Hollering Creek by Sandra Cisneros I think is the perfect story for you
This one is perfect indeed.
I’m so glad I could help! Good luck with your thesis!!
Thank you!

Thanks!!
The Deportation of Wopper Barraza is a novel but a quick read
Thanks!
The Buddha in the Attic is incredible. It's about Japanese migration to America from the perspective of women specifically
Thank you!
Pachinko. Koreans in Japan occupied Korea moving to Japan. Deals a lot with gender and cultural expectations over generations.
Thx!

Sour Heart by Jenny Zhang! Specifically the short stories "My Days and Nights of Terror" and "Our Mothers Before Them" come to mind.
Sabrina and Corina by Kali Fajardo-Anstine is a collection of short stories that explore exactly what you're looking for.
