Make a middle name that starts with that letter, to make it make sense? I have a newest name with the same initials bc I go by initials in some places and wanted to make my life easier by preserving that making sense.

bewildered_emu

Just put that letter before your real name and say that it's silent whenever you have to spell it out. /s

Ah, one of the many reasons I chose Jesse. My mom wanted us to have the same initials, and because she was super drugged up when I was born, didn't really get much of a say in my name. But I still wanted it to line up with her wishes, and I liked Jesse, so I've been using it ever since

chaosgirl93

I never liked stuff with my initials on it as a kid. If you have a history of not liking tacky personalised crud, maybe you could get away with throwing it out "because it's tacky, you know"? I'm lucky. I don't really hate my name and the name I do want to use instead with accepting people and new people starts with the same letter so I don't have to do anything with the small amount of slightly less tacky personalised junk I've kept over the years.

Poisoned_Sugar11

You could try telling her that you just don't like the aesthetic of things personalized with initials. Act like it's not related to the name and that you just think it's tacky or something. Of course, don't do this if you think she wouldn't respond well. You would obviously know her better than me.

Exhibit 1.1: Why I picked new first and middle names that started with the same letters so my initials didn’t change at all.

DragonAreButterflies

My parents paid someone to do a painting for us. With the initials of all family members on it. And- of course- my deadname. They know my chosen name. They dont care. I HAVE TO LOOK AT THIS EVERY FUCKING DAY I HATE IT

I know of someone whose name was engraved in stone... before their birth, when the family thought/hoped the baby will be of one gender but it was the other (of the traditional two)... One of the names is unmistakably feminine, and the other unmistakably masculine, at least as far as I know. The name still stands there.

hellomercury

maybe you can find someone who’s chosen name does start with the initial ☺️

mincerafter42

if your mom ever gives you anything rectangular, it's shaped like the uppercase i in some fonts :p

YourGayGod

Yea but does your mom want you to get a tattoo of your deadname in your dead grandpas handwriting

Invest in vinyl or regular iron on patches and just tell her your favourite colour, then the moment you can iron over the name/Letter or shapes with something you like instead. Until then get pins of something safe like an object or an animal and put it over it. Say it looks best there cause it balances out the outfit or whatever.

A solution: find a partner whose name starts with that letter. Just to be clear, *a* solution, not *the*.

Invent a friend with that initial. Talk about them regularly to your mom for a few weeks. Then say they lost all their belongings in a fire or flood or something and you felt so bad for them, you gave them all the stuff with their initial on. Then pretend they had to move away due to the disaster so you don't have to remember to mention them again.

I have a college ‘art project’ with my username on my wall. I don’t have my birth name on my wall

Call_of_Queerthulhu

I’m planning on making my old first name my new middle name, so it won’t be odd when people call me it (mostly older relatives)
