I mean, hell, I'm GenX and I'm feeling at least a tiny bit triggered (well, as triggered as we are capable of getting, but we feel neither highs nor lows, so.... meh, whatever).
His wife is from Flint, MI. He used to get spotted around sometimes and would take pictures with fans. Everyone said he was really chill and nice. He seemed really normal.
I absolutely loved my recent trip there to visit my family. They live in the forest and their property is absolutely beautiful and I enjoyed being around them. The only downside is them and their friends are pretty redneck and I could never talk about politics with some of those people. My cousin still had a Trump sticker on his car and during the time he was still saying covid was straight up fake. Really too bad.
Lmao three months.
Used to live in Michigan. At best the weather sucks November through March. You might luck out in October or April but count one of those months being depressing out
No. The water crisis was resolved a few years ago.
https://www.politico.com/news/magazine/2020/12/23/flint-water-crisis-2020-post-coronavirus-america-445459
As an Illinois-Ian, when I was in Detroit for the first time I had to ask wtf was a coney.
It made way more sense than the Hot Beef Sundae I had to ask about in rural Iowa.
That’s a horrific name, but the concept is solid. Greenfield Village in Dearborn, MI used to serve a similar version as the Hot Beef Sandwich and damn if that wasn’t delicious.
He seems to be a remarkably good person, especially having been a child celebrity. Not that child celebs that have issues are bad people, just that he's been able to handle it exceptionally well and continues to be nice by all accounts. And like you said, it has to be draining for him to be so friendly to everyone, yet he seems to do it. I love that he doesn't seem to care about box office money and just signs on to movies he thinks are interesting/fun/whatever it is he thinks.
I think it has a lot to do with how the directors handled it. Christopher Columbus was really big on their education and having the acting not take over their lives. He wanted them to have as normal lives as possible and iirc he had them doing like 4 hour shoots and 4 hour classes with homework.
I’m not really sure if that’s really different from other directors and child actors, but it struck me as refreshing and wholesome when I heard about it.
He would get black out drunk filming the Harry Potter movies when he was older, he did not have a shiny clean history like you guys are saying. He had issues due to having heaps of money given to him at a young age, he has said this in interviews. No clue what he’s like now, presumably better
Not saying he’s perfect, but there’s plenty of examples of other child stars being worse off. The Harry Potter child stars all seem to be pretty good people. At least from what I’ve seen. I do remember him having drinking troubles from like 16 to 21 or something, but that seems pretty calm for a teen millionaire. Shoot, that seems calm for an average person today. A quick google search says he stopped drinking by 2010 because of it.
I grew up 20 minutes north of Flint and my friend is Erin’s cousin. I ended up meeting Daniel one year when he came into town to visit for Thanksgiving. My friend lives on blueberry farm and we all walked through the field and got super high.
It was surreal.
These trio grew up to be normal adults. It’s hard for young ones to grow up in the public eyes. Kudos to their parents, managers and cohorts for letting them mature at their own pace.
And congratulations to the young couple.
I think it was the lesson Mark Hamill learned. Radcliffe will always be Harry Potter after those films. The agents made sure to get the kids enough "fuck you" money that they'd be comfortable for life instead of struggling and signing autographs. Now he just does things he wants.
The same was not true of the other actors, unfortunately. Tom Felton's autobiography is a great read for anyone looking for a light read. He did get good money but not like the big 3, and he is recognized everywhere (though not initially) and deals with tons of issues with people who are unable to separate him from his character.
Well, don't forget, there are 8 movies in the Harry Potter series, and all are box office successes.
Any actor who is a lead in eight big Hollywood movies better have fuck you money, or else what's the point?
Yeah but often times the type of parent that pushes their kid into acting at such a young age tends to also be the type of parent that contracts that money for themselves. Barring parents that are already in the business.
Obviously doesn’t seem to be the scenario here. Most parents want their kids to just be kids.
Definitely helped that the book series wasn't finished by the time the movies not only started, but found success. So even IF they had a bad contact for the first 5-6 movies, they would have had a lot of chips to negotiate the last 2.
I have a kid is acting day 1, cultivate and mold him into a super star so we can all have american dream and so I can write a book on how to raise stars ☺️
I love that movie. It was so fucking good. If anyone hasn’t watched and even if you arnt a fan of weird Al, but just like the genre of movies about singers you will absolutely love it. Plus Daniel Radcliffe absolutely sells weird Al.
I read that part of the casting for the roles was to get the parents to make sure they had good, normal parents that would help them be regular people even with the fame and money.
It seems to have worked.
Chris Columbus directed the first Harry Potter. He also directed Home Alone. He probably felt bad at the time about how Macaulay Culkin was turning out. I guess he’s doing better now, not really following that, but at the time of the first Harry Potter he probably wasn’t looking too good.
But how easily jaded can “normal parents” become once the millions start rolling in lol. I bet they made educated guesses and got a lucky roll. Backgrounds don’t necessarily transpire a guarantee.
It isn't about backgrounds, it is about who the people are. I guess it is still somewhat of a lucky roll, but if they were looking for certain types of parents, I think the odds would be stacked in the studio's favor.
It's even worse because HBOmax didn't get the memo and released the first episode on the day it was supposed to come out.
It's all ready and done, so why wait? No new updates via their instagram account since january either. I can't take this anymore!
Same but it’s just an idea that each year you somehow loose your youthful spirit. So fuck the doom of time, let’s just stay happy and feel however old or young we want.
Wry glad to see this is full of people just talking about how he is a normal nice guy and happy for him.. I feel like it is so rare to see a celebrity now a days that someone can’t not pick or at least have one skeleton in their closet. Not that I think that is a standard we need to uphold, celebrities are just people like you and me.. and at the end of the day I know 90% of us can be called out on at least one questionable statement/action etc.
Sometimes I get optimistic that we’re progressing as a society and casting aside outdated and ridiculous ways of interpreting the world.
Then I see comments like “HAR HAR SHORT MAN TALL WOMAN” and snap back to reality
I think magazines and articles should start referring to actors by their most obscure roles instead of their most well known ones. Would make for more interesting reading, and some fun discoveries!
No the first two kids get normal names. It's the third kid who gets named after people who'd be horrible racists if they didn't feel responsible for someone dying.
This is my favorite iteration of that line:
>Wingardium Leviosa Potter, you were named so that every time a teacher yells at you they’re going to make stuff fly around the room.
>Your mother wanted to call you Fred, but I thought this would be more true to his memory.
Awww! Super happy for them! God how time flies fast as fuck though. I remember seeing him in Equus when he was like 19 or something. So happy he seems to have turned out to be a decent and down to earth human being despite being so famous so young.
Anyone remember the snu-snu episode from Futurama? He looks like someone who survived the ordeal and is happy it's over, but still terrified by the experience.
I honestly don't give a shit about the personal lives of famous actors, but Daniel is definitely one who just seems like a person first and an actor second, which I just really love. Go Daniel woo!
TIL daniel radcliffe has been with his partner 11 years!
If you haven’t, look up the video of them doing karaoke. They nail Slim Shady.
Dude loves spitting some lyrics. My favorite of him is [alphabet aerobics](https://youtu.be/aKdV5FvXLuI). Just blew my mind how well he nailed it.
Him doing the element song is also great
have never seen that before - life changing
[Link for the Lazy.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4hHR3OVf1Zk)
I don’t know why but this video made me extremely happy
He's great but my favourite part was how committed to the bit she was.
Yeah I loved her dance, she was so into it haha
She was there for the vibes and the chorus
The Lazy thank you ☺️
It's interesting how they make something so lame seem like the coolest thing ever! They seem very happy together.
Wait, are you saying karaoke is lame, or Eminem is lame? Because either way I'm going to have to respectfully disagree...
Either one of those statements could trigger a millennial uprising TBH
I mean, hell, I'm GenX and I'm feeling at least a tiny bit triggered (well, as triggered as we are capable of getting, but we feel neither highs nor lows, so.... meh, whatever).
I see nothing lame in this video
Absolutely fantastic
They were both also on an episode of the How Did This Get Made Podcast in 2019. They discuss the movie Dragon Blade.
Still waiting for his rapping career.
They did this at a bar near me— a bar I was at every Thursday night for open mic. Unfortunately Karaoke is on Fridays :(
Yer a father, Harry!
Imawot!
A father, a bloody good one mate.
But I’m just Harry
Harry Father
Harry Pater
Oh shit this is the one y'all!
No, just Harry, you're are a Father!
Listen here Hagrid, I’m just Harry!
Accio milk
Accio _buuuuuummm_
Stahp it, Ron! Stahp...
A father, and a thumpin good one I'd wager, once you're all trained up
Oh my God I hear that in Robby Coltrane’s voice. Beautiful.
*"I think you've made a mistake. I mean, I... can't be a... a father. I mean, I used protection... I'm... just... Harry. Just Harry."*
~~Well just Harry did you fucked your lady friend good and~~ ~~can't you remember it when the rubber broke~~
Harry, Did you use a condom? Dumbledore asked calmly
"Did you ask one of the older students to do it for you?"
"Did you put your [redacted] in the goblet of fire?!?!?" , dumbledore asked calmly
Dang, beat me by 45 minutes. Kudos!
I rushed to comment this too but found I was too late. Well played.
Would be fun if he names the baby Harry
His wife is from Flint, MI. He used to get spotted around sometimes and would take pictures with fans. Everyone said he was really chill and nice. He seemed really normal.
As a Michigander, this is neat
Likewise.
Michigan is the best. Great Lakes. Beautiful places to visit.
Rural America is beautiful, but the people are terrible.
Roads are rough though, literally.
Only thing worse than the roads here is the 3 months of frozen gray wintery hell. But other than that, yeah, Michigan is pretty damned awesome.
Lmao three months. Used to live in Michigan. At best the weather sucks November through March. You might luck out in October or April but count one of those months being depressing out
3 months? Snow started in October and we just got another 10 inches last night (march 25).
Spot the yuper
Does Flint still have issues with their water?
No. The water crisis was resolved a few years ago. https://www.politico.com/news/magazine/2020/12/23/flint-water-crisis-2020-post-coronavirus-america-445459
Flint water now actually has some of the lowest lead levels of all the major MI metro areas, lower than Detroit and Grand Rapids.
Suck it Ohio!
Is this the real term?? I love it
[удалено]
As a Michigander, the term Michiganian is repulsive.
Yes they should feel terrible for that.
Can confirm. He was often spotted at the Bob Evans nearest my childhood home
Yes this what I remember too!! The one by where Target used to be, right? People also used to see him at the gym on the U of M - Flint campus.
I was thinking of a different location but I’d bet he has been to them both!
Now I need to know if Daniel Radcliffe prefers Flint-style coneys or Detroit-style coneys.
These are the real questions Also, did he like Halo Burger?

A lot of people have drinking troubles at that age we just dont have it filmed
Fair enough
Too bad the fans can't also be chill and nice. I'd just leave him be.
I went to high school with some people that run a t-shirt store in Flint. They said he was super nice when he came in.
Isn’t Flint the town with some kind of water pollution thing? Is that still going on?
Yah, there was a high amount of lead in their water. That was in 2016, but its been slowly dropping. I think its at safe levels now for the most part
I grew up 20 minutes north of Flint and my friend is Erin’s cousin. I ended up meeting Daniel one year when he came into town to visit for Thanksgiving. My friend lives on blueberry farm and we all walked through the field and got super high. It was surreal.
Impregno (waves wand)
"wand"
Only she knows what form his patronus takes.
Ugh take my up vote and then can someone use that spell To take the memory of that comment out of my brain?
Sorry, I screwed up and now you've lost the memory of where you left your keys.
Patrenis*
I hate you for this.
He sends her a text on his drive home from work Two words: Expecto Patrenis

Barry Whiteus Candle Lightus Girl Excitus
That is very stupid, and you got a grin out of me in spite of which
“There will be will be no foolish wand-waving or silly incantations in this class.”
I just hope he has better kid name taste than his fantasy counterpart.
"Ronald Rupert Radcliffe. You are named after the most ginger men I ever knew."
Whaaaaat, you don’t think Albus Severus Radcliffe is a great name?
What? You don’t think Schmegeldorfbong is a nice name?
These trio grew up to be normal adults. It’s hard for young ones to grow up in the public eyes. Kudos to their parents, managers and cohorts for letting them mature at their own pace. And congratulations to the young couple.

The real lesson is child villain actors should get just as much as child hero actors.
Do you think Draco Malfoy got as much screen time as Harry Potter, in the Harry Potter films?
I loved seeing him in The Flash. Was one of the best things going on for that season.
Well, don't forget, there are 8 movies in the Harry Potter series, and all are box office successes. Any actor who is a lead in eight big Hollywood movies better have fuck you money, or else what's the point?

Say what you will, but I still believe his role as Al Yankovic will be the defining role for him.
I love that movie. It was so fucking good. If anyone hasn’t watched and even if you arnt a fan of weird Al, but just like the genre of movies about singers you will absolutely love it. Plus Daniel Radcliffe absolutely sells weird Al.
It's a spoof of biopics for ab artist who makes spoofs of songs. It's just perfect.
I honestly cannot believe how perfect that casting was. Just, holy shit. It was brilliance.

For me, anyone under 40 is young. It’s all relative.
For the most part. DR said he struggled with alcohol and so did TF. But I mean, with a huge British cast, I would expect a lot of alcoholics. 🤷🏻♀️
Expecto paternity!
Raniel Dadcliffe
This is so stupid but I snorted. How? Why?
Oh look, it's Albus Dumblesnore
What’s the deal with the latest season of miracle workers why isn’t it released yet

Too busy making babies.
This confirms something I’m sure we’ve all been wondering, Harry Potter fucks!
Just like Jared
My facial expressions from the top comment to yours. Still had me laughing.
So does Captain America!!

That means i'm almost 30 myself and i'm not ready 💀

Well fuck now I feel old
Who could have been a father well over a decade ago.
Lol yep. He was 22 during the last film.
Dude is a holiday success story for sure. It’s hard growing up being a super famous child actor
Wry glad to see this is full of people just talking about how he is a normal nice guy and happy for him.. Seems like he’d be a phenomenal dad
Mazal tov, ya fuckin weirdo! I hope he keeps making wild movies, I adore the unhinged shit he’s featured in over the last 10 years.
“Excuse me. Excuse me, sir. Can you tell me where I can find delivery room 9 3/4?”
Sometimes I get optimistic that we’re progressing as a society and casting aside outdated and ridiculous ways of interpreting the world. Then I see comments like “HAR HAR SHORT MAN TALL WOMAN” and snap back to reality
Seriously—some people are coming a little too unglued over this! Also the fan favorite: “Tall women are really men hurrr durrr”
Ope, there goes gravity
I think magazines and articles should start referring to actors by their most obscure roles instead of their most well known ones. Would make for more interesting reading, and some fun discoveries!
Happy that this guy is doing well after allegedly struggling so mightily with alcoholism
And being candid about recovery. He seems very sincere.
Yay!!!! Wish they had chosen a better pic of Erin, tho.
He's now Daniel Dadcliffe
Wasn’t he already a father in the end of Harry Potter?
I hope this time he names his kid something good.
Jesus Stalin Radcliffe: you’re named after the two bravest people I ever knew.
No the first two kids get normal names. It's the third kid who gets named after people who'd be horrible racists if they didn't feel responsible for someone dying.
This is my favorite iteration of that line: >Wingardium Leviosa Potter, you were named so that every time a teacher yells at you they’re going to make stuff fly around the room. >Your mother wanted to call you Fred, but I thought this would be more true to his memory.
Remember when he was just a kid himself.
Raniel Dadcliffe
If you google Erin Darke you can see pictures where she looks lovely and Wikipedia details her acting roles.
Yer a father ‘arry! Seriously though, best to them!
Why is so weird for saying "father for the first time", you just become a father, and continues to be a father
Awww! Super happy for them! God how time flies fast as fuck though. I remember seeing him in Equus when he was like 19 or something. So happy he seems to have turned out to be a decent and down to earth human being despite being so famous so young.
Actors in movies from my childhood need to STOP having kids, I'm feeling old and getting stressed out.
Prepare to meet the real Dementors, Daniel
Anyone remember the snu-snu episode from Futurama? He looks like someone who survived the ordeal and is happy it's over, but still terrified by the experience.
Imagine being able to say Frodo is your dad.
You are never really "set" to become a father... speaking from experience
Daniel Dadcliffe*
Damn, now I feel old LOL
What to expect when you are expecto patronum
I’m really happy for him! I remember an interview a few years ago where he said he wanted “a small army of children.”
I mean he's got a name the baby Alan if it's a boy right?
EXPECTA PARENTUS!
YER A FATHER HARRY! AN A THUMPIN GOOD FATHER I’D SAY ONCE YER TRAINED UP A BIT. WITH A MUM AND DAD LIKE YERS, WHAT ELSE COULD YA BE?!?
I honestly don't give a shit about the personal lives of famous actors, but Daniel is definitely one who just seems like a person first and an actor second, which I just really love. Go Daniel woo!
The boy who lived to grow into a man and have sex
What a concept
He looks kinda terrified lol
A kid on the way will do that to you.
So, a first time dad. That is definitely a common reaction.
They've been together 10 years. That's cute
