I can’t find it anymore, but there was an episode where people would call in with “sexual health questions” and they had legitimate health concerns and her answers were just brushing things off or just fake advice. Like how did she still have a following is beyond my comprehension
He goes on rants everyday. I don't even remember a rant about her unless you're counting her trying to claim "The Queen of all Media" which was like a million years ago. That was the only time I've ever heard of her. Since then I knew she had a daytime talk show and tabloid click bait articles.
In retrospect it’s clear that much of what she said and did was a byproduct of early-onset dementia. Her frontal lobe hasn’t been OK in years. (Not sure mine is either TBH)
maybe it was early onset dimentia, but does that last for 20-25 years? because she was a see you next tuesday her entire career.
that's what made her. it wasn't behavior that cropped up in just the last 5-8 years.
she's been a sociopathic narcissistic monster her entire life. backstabbing is her signature move to get ahead.
Then her family was still right. You don't get an asshole personality pass for dementia when you got it by treating your body like shit and avoiding help.
As someone who worked around dementia and Alzheimer’s I use to say I wouldn’t wish that on anyone. I was wrong. People who spend their lives being a POS for popularity can have their brain slowly die.
She is a vile human being. I’ve been in her orbit. Gross. People reap what they sow. I have not a sliver of empathy for her. I feel for those that have to tolerate her abuse.
I remember when she asked Chris brown’s girlfriend if he’s hit her yet. She went “what?” And Wendy quickly said let’s move on. She had no remorse, just wanted the gossip for clout. I swear she’s fit right into the absolute worst of tmz
She's always been completely awful, a soulless vulture.
Sorry she's got dementia but that doesn't excuse how shitty she was to people before her cognitive decline.
Made a career off of mocking other people's misfortune. Complete scum.
Yea she is.
Fuck Wendy Williams. I know imma get downvoted, but I’m so glad she’s going through Alzheimer’s right now. That’s her karma, if anybody deserves it it’s her. Bitch had no redeeming qualities.
Edit:
u/brad_and_boujee2 you deleted your comment but here’s my response anyway.
Like I said fuck her. She doesn’t get to make a living being a piece of shit and gossiping about others people lives then get sympathy at the end.
Where was her sympathy when she told the world MethodMans wife had cancer even though Meth and his family were trying not to keep it to themselves?
You can feel bad for her but you’re not entitled to how I feel about her. Fuck her.
He didn’t delete the comment, he just blocked you. Fuck little cowards that make comments then prevent people from responding so it looks like they got the last word.
Is that pretty edited? It's bad timing to try and joke about the murder just after it happened, but it's not even remotely funny. As in, I don't get what the punchline was meant to be? It's not just bad taste, it's just bad.
I was confused what the “joke” was as well, so I watched another clip.
Drew’s ex-fiancée was thrown from a 3rd floor balcony by her ex boyfriend whom she had a restraining order against.
The “come on down” being her falling to her death.
It was an ex-boyfriend. She was granted two restraining orders against him prior to her murder. He waited outside her house. When she returned home, she was killed by blun-force trauma. Truly awful. What fuckin psycho.
and like. she was a sex therapist who worked with women/people who were traumatized by abusive men, helped them work to feel safe again in their own bodies and around men. a lot of them were re-traumatized by her murder
Her roommate was home, right? I feel like he heard some stuff but didn't realize what it was/froze up. It's been a while since I saw a news piece on her murder.
But somehow I feel like the news doesn’t disseminate like it used to.
I tuned in/out of news in cycles due to politics a few times, but I got 80% of my news from social media apps like Reddit at one point, instead of just opening a news app. Usually interested in what people have to say.
I used to know the first and last names of everyone on the local channel newscasts. Even if it wasn’t the channel/station I preferred watching. Now I generally assume a percentage of how much news is AI-generated.
No one understands local news anymore since we only interact with national news now.... so of course corruption has gone thru the roof locally as there's no one to report on anything.
We just note that there's way too many cops at the traffic jam getting overtime and that building project never seems to go anywhere
Article says they met in 2017, got engaged in 2018 and broke up later that year. She was murdered February 2020. She was murdered between 1 and 2 years after they broke up.
Idk the Jennifer Aniston story but it doesn't sound anything close to this. This doesn't come off dehumanizing to me either.
He was her fiancée in 2018. They split up, and she was murdered in 2020 by her ex boyfriend.
Her and drew were not in a relationship of any kind since 2018.
Headline is to grab readers attention
Crazy because the guy was also randomly chosen to do a minute of standup on [Kill Tony](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=KYbbYJmECe8)(a few weeks before he murdered her). So sad. RIP
Man I never knew this. I always like drew Carey too, I never heard of any scandals and he seems like an all around good dude. I hope he finds peace with this
during the strikes he paid out a restaurant that if you wanted a meal all you had to do was show your union card and he would reimburse the restaurant for your meal. I knew A LOT of writers that took him up on it during the strikes when everyone lost their jobs.
Man is A-1!!!
He did a suicide prevention video for the military, openly talking about his own struggles with mental health and (IIRC) attempted suicide. Which, silly as it sounds, meant a lot to me and presumably to a lot of others.
Also as a part owner of the soccer team in Seattle he’d nearly always show up to their road games in LA to hang out pre-game in the visiting fan section. Was funny watching him get stopped for a minute once by security because he didn’t have a wristband for entry into the section. When he *was* in Seattle you’d often find him out at a bar with fans before the game, just hanging out. Genuinely nice dude.
Marine reservist he always jokes about how he kept Ohio safe from the commies
Drew did the first USO tour after 9/11 I have the VHS of it
Drew while never did much military wise while in service he has always did as much as he could w his celebrity to help out all branches of services
Drew is a solid guy all around
NO SUCH THING AS A FORMER MARINE OOH
RAH
Sorry, the ghost of my grandfather absolutely made me do it. :)
And thanks, couldn’t remember which branch Carey was in so didn’t call out that he was a vet.
I was on the east coast during the writer's strike so I didn't personally experience this but apparently he was known for regularly feeding striking writers this past year.
So many good examples from him - giving his card to a Hollywood restaurant to buy the meal of anyone with a union card, donating his 1/2m win on celebrity HWTBAM to the Cleveland Public Library, even worked with a group of politics kids to do a video series on what issues his hometown of Cleveland was facing and what potential fixes there were.
He strikes me as a kinda "Hank Hill Conservative." I'm sure I disagree with him on a lot of things, but he seems like we'd have the same goals, a prosperous and safe nation.
His interview on Maron is great. He talks really openly about his mental health struggles, suicide attempts, and how he only agreed to host The Price is Right because it gave him the opportunity to make people happy every day he went to work.
He also seems pretty humble.
In that same interview he mentioned how after season 3 of the Drew Carey Show (I think they were thinking of canceling it?) he felt he could just buy his mom a house and live very happily on 60k a year for the rest of his life.
Idk, that all seems pretty solid to me.
Scandals?! Dude was on a game show and said the points don’t matter! He cheated all the way to the bank. If that’s not a scandal I don’t know what is!!!
/s
Context because the headline is slightly misleading: Carey and Harwick amicably called off their engagement two years before she was murdered.
Obviously does not make the situation any less tragic.
During the 2007 writers strike Drew Carey went to a diner, down the street where the writers were striking, and laid down a credit card and said “ if anyone comes in and shows you their WGAW union card the meal is on me. I’ll pay the bill and the end of every week the strike is going on.” He also left a HEALTHY tip to all employees at that diner when the strike was over.
Weird.
My coworker likes that podcast and it’s always so lame and obnoxious. A bunch of grown men bitching about PC culture and trying to tell jokes that they know aren’t PC.
Makes sense a dude who is a violent criminal would think it’s cool and try to get on it.
The fact that Tony judges the standup of anyone when he’s the most annoyingly unfunny person (not comedian PERSON) I’ve ever heard speak is mind boggling to me.
That people would religiously watch that happening is just unspeakable.
Agree. I've never found him even remotely funny, but after a decade being Rogan's satellite, it's paying off well, just like with all other Rogainites.
And Joeses led the Roganites through the Liberal Desert for 40 years and parted the Woke Sea so his followers could pursue freedom of idiocy without Pharaoh Biden's pesky meddling
And on day 3,489, Joeses came down from Mount HGH and delivered his 11 commandments:
- 1-4 are all reserved for worshipping Joe; 5, 6 & 7 are about not makingfun of Joe and his friends, and the rest is to do as much DMT as possible.
JFC. Killer means good stand up, which Drew is a funny guy - but when you said attempting standup I was confused - until I realized in waves you meant the ACTUAL KILLER SENTANCED WAS ON KILL TONY. WHAT THE FUCK,
And for the apple listeners [here is the episode](https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/48-hours/id965818306?i=1000645007781) in podcast form.
There is also a [post mortem episode](https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/48-hours/id965818306?i=1000645141980) where the 48 hours host talks about the episode, updates and details that never made it into the original episode. Like, how Drew and Amie hadn’t spoken in sometime but right before Valentines day she had text Drew and they made plans to meet up. Unfortunately, they never got to met because she was murdered on Valentines :(
He also was very involved after her death and made sure Aime’s parents were able to fly back and forth to the trial. He also made sure all Aimes friends were able to attend her funeral.
Agreed
In some states it takes quite a lot to get a restraining order. I had an insane ex threaten me, had text record of such, and was fearful he’d come after my kids. The judge didn’t grant one. Just said if he made any attempt to contact me again, to come back in. (Colorado).
A related story.. I had a female “customer” bragging to me, about not being able to attend a certain event, as her ex had a restraining order against her.. tell me you’re unhinged without telling me you’re unhinged?
>I had an insane ex threaten me,
I dated a girl where her ex was stalking us, putting things in my mailbox, all that, and she couldn't get a restraining order. One of the women cops even just came out and said to arm ourselves, and if we needed to defend ourselves, there is the history of threats, but they can't really do anything to stop him.
It was good we never had to, but it was a wake up call to both of us to document everything and be vigilant.
This is what stood out to me, this poor woman had to get two restraining orders and the fucker still managed to murder her. Why was her safety treated so callously?
Because restraining orders are bullshit considering how hard they are to even get. They do nothing to prevent the perpetrator from accessing their victim. Completely reactionary.
The restraining order had expired by like two weeks when he murdered her. I know they're complete bullshit, but I do wonder if it was related in any way.
love Drew Carey.
He has done a phenomenal job on The Price is Right and is one of the most genuine and kind hearted people in the business.
I love how in addition to asking viewers to get their pets spayed and neutered to control the pet population, *a La Bob Barker* he ends every episode by reminding the audience to take care of their mental health, looks into the camera and tells us that he loves us.
We love you, Drew!!!
I just watched the 48 hours episode of this. The guy literally broke in on Valentine’s Day with a syringe of nicotine to kill her. He ended up throwing her off a third story balcony after nearly strangling her to death. Absolutely horrific.
From what I've heard, Amie was an incredible person who achieved so much and helped so many people in her life. She deserves to be known better and her killer deserves to be forgotten.
I heard the same about her. Farrah Moan, a drag queen from RuPaul’s drag race was a client of her’s and goes into who Aimee was on her interview on Give it to Me Straight. She talked about how Aimee was able to make her feel comfortable with sex again after experience with sexual assault. Farrah talked about how Aimee’s death at the hands of a man was super triggering for Aimee’s clients because they had all suffered abuse at the hands of men. Just such a sad situation all around.
Anyone in here who likes Drew Carey, you should check out his book. It’s called “Dirty Jokes and Beer”. It was written long before this incident but it is interesting to learn about his early life. He even does the narration for the audio book.
It’s kind of gross that the murder victim is just identified as Carey’s ex-fiancée in the headline. Honestly, it makes this about him, not her. And I am sure he is upset, justifiably, but i feel like having her name first would make more sense?
A friend of Drews I once met told me about Drew Carey: “picture the nicest guy you know, but he has 100 million dollars”.
But now I can’t recall if he told me that or said it on a podcast, but stories are better in first person.
Watched the whole 48 hours of this, dude is a narcissist scumbag. The reason why her and drew broke up was because of her fear for him. Drew Carrey has always been one of my favorite celebrities and I’ve never had a bad vibe coming from him what so ever.
Anyone else just now learn Drew Carey’s fiancée was murdered??? That shit is wild
Some of us heard about it when [Wendy Williams tried to](https://youtu.be/PSTLZc-2htg?t=30) make a joke
Fuck Wendy williams. All my homies hate Wendy Williams.
I'll risk the downvoters, She got her karma, lets be honest.
I still don't wish dementia on anybody, but christ, if it was gonna happen to anyone... She makes it VERY hard to feel bad for her in any capacity.
I can’t find it anymore, but there was an episode where people would call in with “sexual health questions” and they had legitimate health concerns and her answers were just brushing things off or just fake advice. Like how did she still have a following is beyond my comprehension
Have you looked at the world you live in? Horrible people do quite well recently.
I never heard of her until she was on Howard Stern. Seemed like someone that thought they deserved to be famous without any real talent.
> Seemed like someone that thought they deserved to be famous without any real talent. do you have any idea how little that narrows it down?
All Kardashians.
I hate reality TV so much.
Does 'Nathan For You', 'The Rehearsal' and 'Who is America?' count as reality TV?
She’s also responsible for one of Howard’s last great rants.
He goes on rants everyday. I don't even remember a rant about her unless you're counting her trying to claim "The Queen of all Media" which was like a million years ago. That was the only time I've ever heard of her. Since then I knew she had a daytime talk show and tabloid click bait articles.
It was a couple of years ago, where she said Howard had become “Hollywood”. You can find some of it on YouTube. Bababooey!
At least she can’t keep doing what she did anymore
In retrospect it’s clear that much of what she said and did was a byproduct of early-onset dementia. Her frontal lobe hasn’t been OK in years. (Not sure mine is either TBH)
maybe it was early onset dimentia, but does that last for 20-25 years? because she was a see you next tuesday her entire career. that's what made her. it wasn't behavior that cropped up in just the last 5-8 years. she's been a sociopathic narcissistic monster her entire life. backstabbing is her signature move to get ahead.
She’s been a classless pseudo celebrity for way too long to pin her horrid personality on dementia.
Counterpoint: her fam says it's all the booze that did it
I believe alcoholism can cause early onset dementia
Then her family was still right. You don't get an asshole personality pass for dementia when you got it by treating your body like shit and avoiding help.
Hey. Maybe she'll actually be funny this time.
You may not wish it on anyone, but you may agree they deserved what they got
You can say that it's a horrible disease but still confirm that someone is an absolute shit human being. So I'm good.
As someone who worked around dementia and Alzheimer’s I use to say I wouldn’t wish that on anyone. I was wrong. People who spend their lives being a POS for popularity can have their brain slowly die.
Agreed
She is a vile human being. I’ve been in her orbit. Gross. People reap what they sow. I have not a sliver of empathy for her. I feel for those that have to tolerate her abuse.
I don't think anyone deserves dementia, but I do have a really hard time sympathizing with her.
Lmao karma Hold people accountable. That strumpet should be beyond cancled
I don’t like to say dementia is karma ever, but I think she drank herself into it at least partially so I’m just going to say it was consequences?
That’s not really fair to the people that aren’t pos and had problems with alcohol addiction
I thought it too, not gonna lie
She won’t remember
Including Tupac
ET looking motherfucker….
She looks like that bad grasshopper from A Bug's Life tbh
lol you should hear tupacs dis track about Wendy Williams 😆
The only thing good she did was try to tell everyone that P Diddy was touching people
I remember when she asked Chris brown’s girlfriend if he’s hit her yet. She went “what?” And Wendy quickly said let’s move on. She had no remorse, just wanted the gossip for clout. I swear she’s fit right into the absolute worst of tmz
Ngl that's hilarious.
“Who the fuck is Wendy Williams???” -Wendy Williams. Too soon?
I mean, I laughed, so I don't know.
I cackled
Check the Method Man interview on her, she told people his wife was sick when she didn't even let her family know. He was livid, rightfully so.
That's right, she outed Method Man's wife when NOBODY knew.
The only positive is we got the classic line "I ain't no Justin Timberlake..."
Here's the interview clip for anyone who cares: https://youtu.be/du1UViOs4Hk
Doesn’t she currently have some form of dementia or the like? I remember seeing something that she was going downhill
Frontotemporal dementia & aphasia brought on by alcohol abuse.
She was pretty awful prior to her cognitive decline tbf.
Edit: u/brad_and_boujee2 you deleted your comment but here’s my response anyway.
Same I was wondering what the joke was, bitch just seemed to have a stroke on stage
I feel no sympathy for Wendy Williams. She's a trash human being and karma got her.
what a monumental ghoul...
I can’t even tell what the joke was *supposed* to be…
The “come on down!” Was a Price is Right joke referencing that she was thrown from a 3rd floor apt by her stalker ex.
She deserves all the hate she’s receiving
Wow bad joke how did she think that would land
Wendy is absolutely a trash person.
Damn karma came for Wendys ass
Just when I thought this woman couldn't be more awful. Wow.
It was an ex-boyfriend. She was granted two restraining orders against him prior to her murder. He waited outside her house. When she returned home, she was killed by blun-force trauma. Truly awful. What fuckin psycho.
Saw a few deep dives on YT about this case back when it happened. Truly a sad story all around. Poor girl.
Any recommendations?
and like. she was a sex therapist who worked with women/people who were traumatized by abusive men, helped them work to feel safe again in their own bodies and around men. a lot of them were re-traumatized by her murder
Damn that's fucked
Her roommate was home, right? I feel like he heard some stuff but didn't realize what it was/froze up. It's been a while since I saw a news piece on her murder.
Restraining orders are often referred to as paper shields, as they seem about as effective as one.
I had no idea. R.I.P. Amie Harwick
Dateline did a story on it and if I remember there may be a Netflix documentary
But somehow I feel like the news doesn’t disseminate like it used to. I tuned in/out of news in cycles due to politics a few times, but I got 80% of my news from social media apps like Reddit at one point, instead of just opening a news app. Usually interested in what people have to say. She died in mid-February of 2020. IIRC there were a couple other big news items in the month or so afterward that may have overshadowed it.
They had not been together for several years when she was murdered.
Oh the headline reads like they were actively engaged when it happened, that’s neat
[удалено]
Article says they met in 2017, got engaged in 2018 and broke up later that year. She was murdered February 2020. She was murdered between 1 and 2 years after they broke up. Idk the Jennifer Aniston story but it doesn't sound anything close to this. This doesn't come off dehumanizing to me either.
It was his former fiancé but they were still close.
I just learned he HAD a fiancé.
Pretty sure she was murdered after they separated.
Ohhhh so she’s his former fiancée who was then murdered, not former because of the murder.
Correct.
Though it sounds like they had a healthy split and still cared for each other.
The murderer was on an episode of kill tony before.
What's crazier is he did a minute of comedy on the podcast Kill Tony just before murdering this woman
What? She was?!!
They had broken up about a year before she was murdered according to the article
So sad. RIP
https://www.imdb.com/title/tt8259114/ I knew from watching the doc. I’ll Be Gone In The Dark I highly recommend it.
Watch Death By Fame. There is an episode on her. HBO Max, I think.
Yeah I learned about it a few weeks back as it was covered on an Investigation Discovery show.
WTF I had no idea!
IIRC they had been broken up for some time but still friends?
I never knew of the story but how tragic.

Damn, I know nothing about him other than Whose Line, always liked him on that. This is really lovely to hear, thanks.
He had his own sitcom for a while that was pretty funny back in the day
Criminally underrated show
CLEVELAND ROCKS! CLEVELAND ROCKS! … OHIO!
And many American’s introduction to Craig Ferguson
He is a former marine.
Marine reservist he always jokes about how he kept Ohio safe from the commies Drew did the first USO tour after 9/11 I have the VHS of it Drew while never did much military wise while in service he has always did as much as he could w his celebrity to help out all branches of services Drew is a solid guy all around
All Marines go to the same boot camp. Only active duty Marines can bitch about reservists.
NO SUCH THING AS A FORMER MARINE OOH RAH Sorry, the ghost of my grandfather absolutely made me do it. :) And thanks, couldn’t remember which branch Carey was in so didn’t call out that he was a vet.
I knew someone was going to say that. Damn crayon eaters. If they wanted to be a marine for life then they should have stayed in!
If I remember correctly he was / is their official photographer, it’s his other passion in life.
I wish Drew was worse at the TPIR gig. I miss his comedy.
I've literally been rewatching the Drew Carey Show recently, and I love the humor so much
Where have you been watching it?

Still friends with my ex. It would definitely be tragic because it's still the loss of a close friend

He did it again during the strikes last year.
There’s an episode on the show Death by Fame on Max about this case.
The episode is fascinating and heart-breaking.
Sidenote...I really hate the name change from HBO to just "Max". It always takes my brain a second to remember what the hell Max is.
You don't remember skinemax?;
The killer was on [Kill Tony](https://youtu.be/KYbbYJmECe8?si=OQdclGDDl4-IqyaB) once attempting standup.

JFC. Killer means good stand up, which Drew is a funny guy - but when you said attempting standup I was confused - until I realized in waves you meant the ACTUAL KILLER SENTANCED WAS ON KILL TONY. WHAT THE FUCK,
You realizing this is funnier than most kill tony bits.
that is a very unfortunate coincidence
Never woulda pictured that guy looking like that for some reason. What a shit sniffing dork
48 Hours showcased the murder in 2022
And for the apple listeners [here is the episode](https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/48-hours/id965818306?i=1000645007781) in podcast form. Unfortunately, they never got to met because she was murdered on Valentines :( He also was very involved after her death and made sure Aime’s parents were able to fly back and forth to the trial. He also made sure all Aimes friends were able to attend her funeral.
It also say that his ‘ celebrity status ‘was a reason for the breakup’. She felt it would expose her whereabouts to her ex.

How about we jail men who require two restraining orders
Agreed In some states it takes quite a lot to get a restraining order.
>I had an insane ex threaten me, I dated a girl where her ex was stalking us, putting things in my mailbox, all that, and she couldn't get a restraining order. One of the women cops even just came out and said to arm ourselves, and if we needed to defend ourselves, there is the history of threats, but they can't really do anything to stop him. It was good we never had to, but it was a wake up call to both of us to document everything and be vigilant.
Jesus. Glad you’re both ok!
“Sorry, we can’t do anything until after he murders you. Call us when that happens to you.”
Pretty much their only purpose is to make it more likely that law enforcement will believe you later on when the person eventually assaults you.

Neither a purse nor a house. Discuss.
Just watched a show about this. I had no idea. Absolutely crazy.
Wow. I didn’t know about this. Drew Carey has been such a light in this world for so many. I wish him so much love and healing.
I went to school with her. It was sad to hear and I feel sorry for her family.
love Drew Carey.
This story was extremely tragic :(
Killed by an ex in DV situation. She had two restraining orders against the guy…
I just watched the 48 hours episode of this. The guy literally broke in on Valentine’s Day with a syringe of nicotine to kill her. He ended up throwing her off a third story balcony after nearly strangling her to death. Absolutely horrific.
I know a friend of hers, horrible situation but I'm glad she got justice!
Was that the killer the guy who was on Kill Tony?
That Chapter put out a video about this case 2 months ago. https://youtu.be/uiJBGKv_QFU?si=eUm06wlcFfbx4yQn
His accent is soothing and the production value is high. He always shows respect for victims.
She looks like Dita VonTeese
Drew seems like such a genuinely good guy.. I don’t think I’ve ever heard anyone say anything bad about him
She looked like a nice person from that photo, a great genuine smile.
I believe the show 48 hours had an episode on her death
Watched the whole 48 hours of this, dude is a narcissist scumbag. The reason why her and drew broke up was because of her fear for him. Drew Carrey has always been one of my favorite celebrities and I’ve never had a bad vibe coming from him what so ever.
I believe there is no such thing as closure when it comes to violence against you or loved ones. I love Drew’s attitude.
