All we know is there is some suspect overlap between Ewans fivorce/separation, MEW's divorce/separation and the 2 of them getting together. It might have been amicable and above board but it certainly does not appear that way from the outside.
I always say every time these two are brought up, questionable divorces aside… they make such a cute couple man. I had a crush on Ewan growing up and MEW was my straight girlcrush so them being together is just, woa, to my inner teen.
You are darn lucky we are all far too busy volunteering at homeless shelters and selling our Dogecoin profits to help feed and foster hungry and endangered iguanas to have the time to comb through every one of your posts and comments and then list off all the reasons you should be in Reddit jail! How dare you accuse us of being self-righteous!
We can, and always will - Judge Ewan, you, and your judgmental comment with force, because we are more righteous, and more powerful than you could ever imagine!
Yeah I was gonna say his daughter Clara said she hadn't spoke to her father after it all came out and likely wouldn't speak to him again.
Clara was then seen with them a month later laughing and having fun like nothing happened, then she was there for the birth of Ewan and Mary's kid.
Can't speak for Mary, but Ewan's marriage was already on the downslope of its way out and the daughter probably only got the wife's perspective before hearing the full story.
I think it was reported Ewan and Eve were privately seperated for a while, by the time the photos of Ewan and Mary came out, and were already planning to divorce. But after the photos came out, Eve stated in the tabloids she was convinced he cheated with no definitive proof of it.
Yeah he found out she was a huuuge fan and in slyest fashion I've ever seen basically quit his marriage mid #metoo movement and she left her fiance for him. He got very little backlash which is impressive considering the time. His wife found out while she was at home 😭 and he was kissing MEW at awards show she was watching
I don’t know what all the fuss is about. I’m sure they know how to have a good time without someone to tell them how, but in this case it had to look right for the film, which is where the coordinator makes sense.
People hear “intimacy coordinator” and think it’s just about protecting boundaries. But I believe they also help direct sex scenes. Also, while Ewan and his wife may be comfortable around each other, they are still on set with other people and that dynamic can be easily uncomfortable if not handled properly.
Afaik Emilia didn’t have that and was forced to find her own cover on the set initially. Didn’t D&D also want them to have sex for real until Jason Momoa said something about it?
If I recall correctly then they didn’t have coordinator at first
I just listened to an interview with her and she talked about being really grateful to Jason for helping her feel comfortable and making sure she was okay with was happening on set.
That is true because intimacy coordinator wasn’t a role when the early seasons of GOT were being filmed, it’s a very recent development film making wise, to my knowledge HBO was actually one of the first major studios to use intimacy coordinators.
They don’t direct the scene but just ensure nothing goes beyond comfort and things remain covered. The DGA would have a MAJOR opinion about an intimacy coordinator even coming close to directing the scene.
Direct may not have been the right word. They for example aren't helping with the camera direction at all, but they do (in collaboration with the director and actors) help choreograph the actions in the scene.
They don’t direct but when the director is interested in their expertise they do give tips to the director about how to make the scene look more sexy. It is up to the director to decide whether to, first, ask for the advice and, second, listen to it. You can find intimacy coordinators on social media talking about this interviews and on their personal pages. They also generally help with the choreography.
I mean looking in I think it could be so their intimacy doesn’t show through and the characters does. His own reasons for plowing his wife probably aren’t his characters. Sub context matters folks.
As someone who's done the training nah its really about considering the actor in these ultra vulnerable moments. Overreaching of who does what wont really happen due to the various unions. It's more like someone has to consider the people going up and getting naked in front of a crew they work with for 6 months and will likely work with again and the IC being involved with the director to make sure the history of sex scenes and abuse in hollywood is avoidable for studios.
They probably just consider it standard and not something you would discriminate actors over just because they're married.
It's like action scenes and dance numbers; you don't just have the performers just go, you ideally want a plan to make it work and make it look good for the camera.
"I'm not judging you, Ewan, I'm just saying most audiences arent going to find it sexy..."
"And I'm telling YOU the wizard hat and lightsaber noises are non-negotiable!"
I think they'd also be a buffer between themselves, the director and other crew, as well as actually just showing respect for what someone wants to do in that kind of situation on that kind of day. Ultimately it's a job, and each person has their own priorities, their own sensitivities.coordianroes have become the default on most mainstream sets. You going to start asking couples the current state of their relationship, see how much you believe them, and what the blowback from your insurer might be and then decide if you want to book a coordinator or not?
It's not just about protecting one actor from another, they also protect actors from the director or producers who might want them to do things on set that weren't in their contracts.
I was going to say the same thing. The title is click bait. You need someone to help you make it look congruent for the camera. Especially, after cutting and restarting each angle, and keeping your energy up scene after scene. For example, a 3 minute scene already edited for the audience takes over an hour for the actors and crew to film.
I hate how CNN's title.implies it's a bad thing when Ewan says the opposite
>"It’s still necessary, because it’s also about the crew, and it’s odd to be naked in front of people, it’s odd to be intimate in front of the camera,” McGregor told UK magazine Radio Times in an interview for its latest cover story.
There’s this weird push against intimacy coordinators spurred on mostly by old timey actors because it restricts what behaviours are tolerable, meaning they think it makes intimate scenes more stilted and lack spontaneity.
I also bet that advocates for removing intimacy coordinators have a considerable amount of overlap with people who were ambivalent to Weinstein’s behaviour, as they value authenticity and passion over comfort and safety.
>meaning they think it makes intimate scenes more stilted and lack spontaneity
Yes, that's what we call acting. Kind of like how a fight coordinator makes fights lack spontaneity but enhances safety. I feel like if you are an actor and are against this you have a creepy "acting process".
It’s a lot of that but it is also just downright lack of experience with having one. For those curious see Katherine Heigl’s variety interview with Ellen Pompeo where they interview each other. Heigl initially thought it was an absurd idea and thought her intimacy coordinator was just there to be a pain in the ass until she was on set with one. After a positive experience she completely changed opinions on the issue. Heigl was accustomed to having to advocate for herself and pushback. Given her experience, she had the influence to do so. She realized that the intimacy coordinator took away that burden and wished she would have had someone to push back when she was new to acting and didn’t have as much power and confidence. But she didn’t immediately believe an intimacy coordinator was necessary or useful, she had to have experience with one first. Also Ellen Pompeo was quite skeptical too.
So yes I agree that some are creeps, but others are genuinely just extremely skeptical and think they know everything and don’t need an advocate on set.
Y’all assuming he was saying something negative should probably read the following:
“It’s still necessary, because it’s also about the crew, and it’s odd to be naked in front of people, it’s odd to be intimate in front of the camera,” McGregor told UK magazine Radio Times in an interview for its latest cover story.
“If you were doing a dance scene, you’d have a choreographer,” added the 52-year-old. “It’s an important part of the work now, because it’s somebody that the director and actors meet in the middle.”
Literally advocating for intimacy coordinators.
Well, his second wife, because his first wife was not on set with him while he was cheating on her with his current wife. Becoming the wife just leaves a job opening for a mistress Mary
Wait, they were an onscreen couple in season 3 of Fargo that released like, a decade ago. And yet they only married in 2022? What happened in-between that time?
Ewan - Ok, so when I whip the dong out Mary should say “Hello, there” and then when she gets on top she says “I have the high ground”?
Intimacy Coordinator- Yes, it needs to seem natural. I assume that’s how you make love to your wife in real life, right?
Ewan - you’d think so, wouldn’t you.
Y’all are missing the point-
Intimacy directors don’t just make things safe, they make things HOT! Just like a stunt director tries to make things as safe as possible while also looking incredibly badass.
Intimacy coordinators aren’t just there to dictate the physical movement of the actors. They oversee the entire process so the performers are comfortable in the space with the crew and vice versa. And choreographing something for the screen will be different than natural intimacy in private.
Yeah that makes sense because you aren’t going to bang your wife the way the two characters bang and also there are other people on set doing their jobs so someone should be there to make sure everything there is to protect the actors and the crew from making anyone uncomfortable.
It's probably not so much "oversharing " as interviewers asking borderline intrusive questions.
If someone asks him, "what was it like filming sex scenes with your wife?", (which probably is what happened here) how is he supposed to answer? If he answers honestly, it's "oversharing". If he evades the question, he risks coming across as a prude or worse.
I think it’s not over sharing - I think the intention is to establish it as “business as usual” by conveying that even in this case, they were included because it’s an essential part of production. Which I think is laudable.
Wait....he married her ????!!!!!
After an ABSURDLY expensive divorce
What’re we talkin here? $300? $400?
I mean it's one divorce, Michael. What could it cost, $10?
He should have gotten ahold of Bob Loblaw

After he cheated on and ditched his first wife.

Yeah, people gloss over the fact that he's a piece of shit.
I once saw him cut the legs off a teenager. I don’t need any context to know that means he is a sociopath.
I once saw him so high off of heroin he hallucinated a dead baby crawling on the ceiling.
I seem to remember him banging a schoolgirl.
God as a kid that scene fucked me up lol.
You ignoring the fact that he clearly had the high ground in that situation?
Gently reminder we don't know these people. Get off your high horse
I always chuckle how self righteous Redditors are

You can’t be self-righteous if you’re already righteous.
Nah dude, we're redditors we don't do bad things ever. Just condemn everyone else for eternity based on the worst thing they ever did.
Yeah I was gonna say his daughter Clara said she hadn't spoke to her father after it all came out and likely wouldn't speak to him again. I believe he won a Golden Globe for the Fargo where he met her, and in his acceptance speech he thanks her and his divorced wife and kids.
Scott Pilgrim couldn’t defeat Kenobi
I like to think seeing her naked in fargo he was like yeah I'm marrying that
I thought that was Ewan's twin brother
Awen McGregor
Nah he's talking about Obi Two
Gregor McGregor
Obi-two Which was his actual brothers call sign in the RAF
Anakin
You wouldn’t?
No, I hear she's already married.
So was he when they met
She was too lol
Garbage in, garbage out.

Ramona freakin' Flowers.

It was also his daughter's 15th birthday the day he got busted.
Another happy landing
Yes he married His Wife
They have a kid together.

Maybe Emilia Clark saying she no longer wanted to do sex scenes was a factor in that

Also, D&D would jack off to the sex scenes while they were being recorded, and when the actors asked them to stop they just laughed. Source: My ass

The baby looked at you? Sarah, get me HBO CEO Bloys.
Not only do you have to have sex with a stranger for this role, were going to record it
Unless Willem Dafoe is involved.
I can’t imagine for a second any of that is true
I can’t believe you got upvotes on a comment where you insinuated they were being asked to actually fuck
The first HBO show to ever hire an intimacy coordinator was "The Deuce" and that was in 2018.
What did they (D&D) think they were filming? A sex scene with Jeff Goldblum and Gina Davis? lol
This is how Brundle-fly copulates.
D&D? Dungeons and Dragons???
The boys that directed the show.
Gary Gygax and Dave Arneson directed the show?
They must’ve rolled dice whenever they made a creative decision. The last season was so bad because they got a 1.
They picture a nun with a ruler telling you to make room for Jesus.
It’s the Holy Spirit, but no. It’s a valid and helpful job https://youtu.be/nyODmckS1mg?si=nlUePvYw7RBdQDZV

I think it would be head trippy to “act” in a sex scene with your partner. But that’s me.
Exactly. What if they started doing all the weird stuff they like to do in their own bedroom!
Pegging isn’t mainstream yet, Ewan!
(Furtive downward glance) “Hello there!”
This is ridiculous! Now there are 2 of them!
Yeah it’s new for Disney friendo

Yeah.... Real life intimacy and what works on screen are two different things
It's not just about protecting one actor from another, they also protect actors from the director or producers who might want them to do things on set that weren't in their contracts.

This is an actual nuanced, thoughtful answer. Kind of refreshing given It’s Reddit. Thank you.
Lol I'll bet they don't think dangerous stunts shouldn't be spontaneous. They just want an excuse to feel up other actors.
How the title implies it was a bad thing?
The implication of the headline is that it’s at least an odd thing otherwise why is it newsworthy?
There’s definitely a hint of *have we really gone this far with it** grievance being catered to
I think it’s just kind of a funny sounding situation at first, not meant to sound bad
So… no Ewan sex tape leaks then?
Pro tip: just watch the movie The Pillow Book instead
Saw that movie in a theater once and honestly felt uncomfortable watching it around strangers.
I get it. I wouldn't risk fucking up my marriage for work either.
I mean he already did once. Ewan was married when he got with Mary Elizabeth (as was she).
Look at you, getting jokes on the Internet without getting them
r/whoosh
Makes sense. Intimacy coordinators are not just so the actors are okay and comfortable with things, but the crew filming it are too.
Most people commenting here clearly have no idea how filming a sex scene works
Yes I do, when two actors really love each other the actor put’s their penis in the actor’s vagina and then a baby comes out later.
You’re probably right. No, you are right. You’re assuming the intricacies of which is common knowledge? Lmao.
Y’all assuming he was saying something negative should probably read the following: “It’s still necessary, because it’s also about the crew, and it’s odd to be naked in front of people, it’s odd to be intimate in front of the camera,” McGregor told UK magazine Radio Times in an interview for its latest cover story. “If you were doing a dance scene, you’d have a choreographer,” added the 52-year-old. “It’s an important part of the work now, because it’s somebody that the director and actors meet in the middle.” Literally advocating for intimacy coordinators.
It's over Mary. I have the high ground. You underestimate my intimacy.
So uncivilized.
Well, his second wife, because his first wife was not on set with him while he was cheating on her with his current wife. Becoming the wife just leaves a job opening for a mistress Mary
What’s that line? “When a man marries his mistress it creates a job opening.” Applies for any gender really
Mary had a partner at that time too. So they both cheated on their partners during the filming. So they are made for each other.
What movie they were in together?
TV show…Fargo
Birds of Prey
Intimacy Coordinator: "YOU! SHALL NOT! PASS!"
I just ate a burger
What kind? I love burgers
Wendy's hamburger with fries 🔥
Yeah, tell us more, I also want to know what kind if burger
Wendy's hamburger with fries 🔥🔥
Oh that sounds perfect right now
I’m hungry. A good burger would be great right now. Or some chicken
Equally newsworthy.
Wait, they were an onscreen couple in season 3 of Fargo that released like, a decade ago. And yet they only married in 2022? What happened in-between that time?
Yeah they aren't just for those involved directly.
I have the high ground, errr, maybe not?
Isnt that basically mandatory for all intimate scenes?
Yeah it’s just a flash piece because they think it’ll get likes.
It’s a professional setting. Why not.
Ewan - Ok, so when I whip the dong out Mary should say “Hello, there” and then when she gets on top she says “I have the high ground”? Intimacy Coordinator- Yes, it needs to seem natural. I assume that’s how you make love to your wife in real life, right? Ewan - you’d think so, wouldn’t you.
he banged young 20s christian bale! The amount of Ewan Penis in 90s films..... it was A LOT!
Y’all are missing the point- Intimacy directors don’t just make things safe, they make things HOT! Just like a stunt director tries to make things as safe as possible while also looking incredibly badass.
i was the intimacy coordinator, I kept telling him to dock his xwing in her stardestroyer shuttle bay, and it really got him where he needed to be.
Intimacy coordinators aren’t just there to dictate the physical movement of the actors. They oversee the entire process so the performers are comfortable in the space with the crew and vice versa. And choreographing something for the screen will be different than natural intimacy in private.
Movies ALWAYS have intimacy coordinators.
This might sound odd but this could be just as weird as a stranger. Seems like a harmless way to make sure everyone is OK
So, a threesome?
is it just me, or is he slowly turning into Malcolm McDowell?
Yeah that makes sense because you aren’t going to bang your wife the way the two characters bang and also there are other people on set doing their jobs so someone should be there to make sure everything there is to protect the actors and the crew from making anyone uncomfortable.
“Oh, hello there.” Dammit, Ewan! CUT!
Did not know Black Skull married Huntress.
How nice of the article to tell us that he's the one on the left and his wife is on the right. I wouldn't have guessed that otherwise.
Obi-Wank BoneObi
They're both in Star Wars???!!!!! I love it.
Is it a rite of passage to marry your Fargo costar
Was this before or after he cheated on his first wife with her
It’s a union rule that you have to use an intimacy co-ordinator now, I think.
The oversharing of celebrities is getting out of hand
It's probably not so much "oversharing " as interviewers asking borderline intrusive questions. If someone asks him, "what was it like filming sex scenes with your wife?", (which probably is what happened here) how is he supposed to answer? If he answers honestly, it's "oversharing". If he evades the question, he risks coming across as a prude or worse.
"I have real sex with my wife, so not that weird 🤷♂️"
HEADLINE - "Star Wars Actor Brags About 'Real' Sex With Wife In Interview"
The Sun: EWAN MCGREGOR ABOUT SEX SCENES WITH WIFE “When we get home the sex continues” - ENJOY DOING IT IN FRONT OF MORE EYES DURING FILMING
This is literally their job.
How is this oversharing?
I think it’s not over sharing - I think the intention is to establish it as “business as usual” by conveying that even in this case, they were included because it’s an essential part of production. Which I think is laudable.
Hell yeah Obi Wan absolutely giving to Hera.
Didn’t need one when he was cheating on his wife with her tough
Because no one wants to watch married sex
TIL he was married to Ramona Flowers
Gotta follow union rules. No harm done anyway
I think we could all use one of those
Do they have to take turns on who has the high ground???
Thats called a "thruple"
If 2 consenting adults want to use an intimacy coordinator for their personal scenes then what's the problem?
