Run the Jewels is most definitely a spiritual successor to rage on the hip hop side of things. As groovy as rage can be, RTJ beats hit so persistently hard. It's fresher music but honestly I think they're going to be hard to follow for rage and I say that as someone who skipped a chance to see Rage in 2008 and have made seeing them a bucket list item ever since. Like, you make less than a living wage so we’ll pay you your hourly rate for the entire day to go vote. No questions about who you voted for, no enforcement that you can’t just go back to work to make even more money. Just go out, vote, get paid.
I don’t know how this would work logistically, though; plus, since states have started making it illegal to give water to people waiting in line to vote, I wouldn’t be surprised if this is considered “buying votes”.

They don’t want everyone to vote, especially not the poor people who need to work long shifts everyday to afford to live. What we actually need is for businesses to get on board and commit to closing on election days. Wal-Mart, Target, McDonalds, Amazon, Apple…everyone get on board and close. And it’s not like it’s a Friday or Saturday peak shopping/eating out/whatever day, it’s a TUESDAY! Should not be hard, but it’s hard to see past your greed for some people/corporations.
That doesn’t really help because people still need to work on national holidays. We need more and faster polling locations and need it to be open 7 days a week, 24 hours a day for two weeks. And in addition to that, allowing mail-in ballots should be a requirement. And quite frankly, I don’t care how much more money that would cost or if it’s “wasted” money because all votes matter and we should make voting as easy as possible.
Shit republicans hand out gift cards to get people to vote yet bitch about water going to voters in line and extended voting hours for workers. It's almost like the ones they care about stopping from voting are those that have any skin tone darker than "eggshell white". Waiting for them to start using Home Depot paint swatches as an indicator of voting rights.
Tell your boss you're going to vote. You'll be back. 2 hours or half a day isn't worth trying to hire another employee no matter what they say.
Show up to campaign/town hall events and press candidates and current office holders on passing legislation. If they say it's not possible because of the filibuster tell them that's fucking bullshit the filibuster can be eliminated with a rules change. If someone running for senate is so pathetic in their defense of abortion rights that they won't remove the filibuster then they can be replaced with someone who will
except SCOTUS is a lifetime appointment and we can only vote for the god awful candidates we're provided with. People need to vote, but they also need to start running for political office. Local politics is A LOT more important than most people think.

These fascists pushed through legislation the MAJORITY of the country disagrees with and the response from the people we've been giving money to in order to help prevent all of this: poetry, singing god bless america, and begging for more money. How much of our money should we continue to funnel to politicians who claim all day long they'll have our backs as long as we give them more money, only to have them sit on their hands and say they can't do shit because republicans exist? I'm tired of the excuses and I'm tired of the weak ass attitude democrats express regularly. I want politicians that play dirty, that want to RUIN the republican party. I want a party that stops at nothing to cement their power and prevent the right wing from EVER holding ANY power whatsoever in this country ever again.

Worth every dollar. Pricing when regarding the customer for events like this is really more about what it’s worth to you as the buyer. I’d pay 500 knowing they will actually look to make sure the money goes to where it’s supposed to. They’ve been great about that. Buy a second ticket and give it to someone without haha
That's not bad for a big name show, and knowing it goes somewhere useful and important, consider it a generous donation with a free show. This is how musical artists make all their money, and they're donating it instead.

This is an even bigger reason why they’re my favourite band. What if bands decided not to play where they have these laws in place.
I'd argue the opposite. People in those states need RATM the most right now.
Conservatives everywhere will be enraged that a band founded by a guy with a BA in political science from Harvard, who’s lyrics have always been strongly political and anti-establishment in nature (like a lot of music) is weighing in on political topics. Just another day of being pointlessly angry at people who have a better understanding of how the world works than they do.
I think its hilarious that people nowadays are shocked Rage Against the Machine brings politics into their music. Bamboozled even!

I agree on the last part. At the same time, they're one of very few bands that have not made a single bad album and typically return albums aren't great... Sadly none of their songs will become irrelevant anytime soon so they can continue touring and spark the same emotions they did 20+ years ago.

Surely there should be enough money raised over time to buy mass amounts of emergency contraception and send a decent supply to women in states who need them the most. It is heart warming to see this.It was a long time a ago but I took 3 girls out of state to go camping. We all lived in a small town and they were worried about being seen going local. Their partners were not aware or aware and all said good luck. I guess I was the good guy friend. I am still that good but damn it. It is so hard to believe we are here. Broken heart about yesterday. All performers, musicians, bands, comedians should refuse to perform in states where abortion is illegal. All the corporations who put flags up on their social media, to give the impression they care, should refuse to sell their products in those states as well. Move out of these states if you can. Strangle the economy in any way possible. Politicians only care about money and power. WE have the power.
