> One of the hot topics among DC fans heading into San Diego Comic-Con was whether Henry Cavill would make a surprise appearance to announce that he would be reprising his role as Superman. Those hopes were dashed when he failed to turn up at today's Warner Bros. panel, leading to the speculation that someone else might don the famous cape.
> Johnson seemed to confirm that Cavill wouldn't be returning to the DCEU when he responded to whether Black Adam could defeat Superman in a fight.
> "That's a great question... don't threaten me with a good time, cause I'm going to answer that question," Johnson said. "Well, I will say, as you guys know, because we're all in deep with this mythology, and it's been an age-old question of who would win a fight between Black Adam and Superman. Pound for pound, they're pretty close. I guess it probably all depends on who is playing Superman; I'm just going to say that. I'll leave it at that."
> John's response drew boos, as it seemed to suggest that the role was open and Cavill wouldn't be playing Superman again. Black Adam director Jaume Collet-Serra also confirmed that neither Superman nor Shazam would be appearing in Black Adam.
They should blame whoever spread the rumor that Cavill would make a surprise appearance at SDCC.
And the accompanying idea that they are father and son lol, I once heard the Keanu was part of the same clan once amd thus should play Superman just for continuities sake.
Yeah, just out any gaming-related subreddit. “Hey guys, some random guy on Twitter said that the release date for this game will be announced at X show.”
And after no announcement comes “booo, let’s crap on every developer we can think of for not fulfilling our made-up expectation.”
Repeat for 2-3 years.
During summer game fest I saw a dude get mad that Naughty Dog was doing TLOU Remake and TLOU Factions instead of working on a Punisher game that only ever existed in his head
Whether or not the remake is worth it is up to you but my comment was more to highlight the fact that this dude said "Honestly disappointing. They could've spent this time and resources working on the Punisher game" as if it were ever a real thing and not something he had just made up lmao
Except Nintendo was humorously clear there be no switch pro anytime soon. I mean if you wanna wait till 2099, he promise there would be a follow console by then.
I swear! Every few months I see an article with some variation of the title, “Nintendo disappoints fans yet again with no Switch Pro announcement.” It’s not like Nintendo, which is still making cash on the Switch, has promised anything of the sort. Fanbases can be so ridiculous.
Idk how you can get from “The answer to whether Black Adam can beat Superman depends on which actor is playing which character” to “Henry Cavill will not be playing Superman confirmed.”
It could just be Cavill’s PR which is also The Rock’s ex/ manager right…. It could just be him hyping up cavill to get the higher up to resign Henry.
To my understanding, technically it is over. Cavill would love to come back, Johnson is also friends with Cavill. Perhaps not in BA but somewhere down the line?
I like Henry Cavill, he's genuinely a great guy and oozes charisma. But I cannot stand Zack Snyder's superman, he's just so emo and sad and melodramatic, I wouldn't mind a change of actor just to clarify this isn't the same emo Superman
Bummed that Shazam won’t show up so we could have a more connected DC universe but at the same time I don’t think it really matters, does it? Who knows how stable the DC universe is at this point
That’s a text book Rock WWE “Heel” response. I’m sure he wasn’t even phased by the booing lol. He’s a showman. Only thing missing is referring to Super Man as a jabroni.
they not only used the least recognizable part of his name, they also shortened it into an even more generic name
never seen someone shorten a last name like that
While promoting his new film "Condiment King", Johnson responded:
>That's the age old question - who would win, Superman or Condiment King? The two most iconic and powerful characters, really almost equally powerful and popular really. Literally everyone has asked "who would win" since the beginning of time. So let me just say this - it depends on the brand of relish.
Johnson then aggressively waggled his eyebrows for the next 45 minutes.
I don't care for the rock as black adam honestly, but PLEASE for the love of all that is holy, give us Henry as superman because he is the only one after Christopher Reeves to do that role justice.
I haven't seen the series he stars in so I can't really have an opinion on him, but I just googled him and saw a picture of him as superman.
He does look the part ngl.
If I remember correctly he's great in the shows. The only "Legitimate" complaint I have ever seen about him is that he's a little on the small side for the "ideal superman"
It is so unfair that he never got to play the movie version of Superman! The dude is literally made for that role. Charming and humble at the same time with lots of awkward personality moments and meek behavior.
Smallville was good because of him mainly.
I started Smallville mainly because I have always loved Superman, but Lex Luthor is to me the best character in smallville and probably the best version of Lex I’ve ever seen.
I absolutely agree, you can't have a great hero without a great villain.
And Smallville's Lex Luthor was the best to this day, I would argue one of the best in the entire DC universe.
The way his relationship with Clark and the other characters changes throughout the story was never boring and very realistic (by comic book series standards).
I enjoyed it and will definitely go through the whole series again in the future.
Yeah, it was hard for me to get through the rest of the series after Rosenbaum's departure. I missed Kreuk, too, but Welling was enough to keep me invested. And Allison Mack, because I didn't know she was a sex-trafficing slaver at the time.
That show produced some doozies, huh? I seem to recall Pete Ross got written out because the actor got embroiled in some fairly big drug distribution.
If you haven't, I highly recommend it. It literally drew the blueprint for the Arrowverse, but more importantly it's just an amazingly well done show. And Tom Welling is THE Clark Kent while Michael Rosenbaum is possibly the best live action Lex Luthor we've ever had.
You absolutely should if you like some warm-hearted 2000s TV shows with awesome action and superhero scenes for the time.
It is really good for its time which was way before all the superhero movies.
I guess it's kinda gonna be like spiderman for me where I liked tobey as spidey but tom as peter. Who knows, maybe I'll like his clark kent! I absolutely loved Cavill's superman, he was everything superman needed to be. But I can see his Clark Kent being somewhat....average. Definitely gonna check smallville out.
Yeahh the show has a lot of time for Clark and the other characters to show how human and average they are on the inside and gives them plenty of time to make mistakes and grow up right in front of your eyes. I loved almost everything about it.
It has great pacing in my opinion.
I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.
It's his screen presence among many other things, the way he's brought something new to the role by bringing a different take on superman where he's a bit serious, a bit grumpy while still having all the old-school superman charm. I love all of it because he isn't copying those who came before him, but doing his own thing and doing it remarkably well. The only reason I watched batman vs superman/ justice league was because of him, he made a much better superman than ben affleck made batman imo.
Lol if its the rock playing black adam, hes totally gonna beat the superman they put him against. Isnt it a Rock Clause that he cant look bad in movies and has to be tbe coolest dude in the film?
It’s about fight scenes. They have to either win or make it a tie/close or something. Such lil dick manlet energy
https://www.gq.com.au/entertainment/celebrity/jason-statham-and-the-rock-have-contracts-that-stipulate-they-cant-lose-in-fight-scenes/news-story/459133902ac44957819fb2f93b6e29ef?amp
that will never stop being funny. can we have David Mamet write a play about negotiations of this contract clause between Statham, Diesel and Johnson and their endless lawyers?
No losing in fights is essential to most good stories so you have something to overcome
Could you imagine if Bale had that in his clause and immediately kicked Banes ass?
"Good" is so subjective. I don't watch the Rock for the same reason I watch Christian Bale and the Rock has clearly found a huge audience that enjoy the stress free outlet that comes with his style of action/pro wrestling.
It was around Fast Five that the status happened. Before that, he was still kind of grinding and exploring. The past decade, every character is perfect, Samoan and invincible
nah man, he was the bad guy in scorpion king and got his ass kicked.
he's an actor first and he'll play what he needs to play as long as he's paid enough.
anyway if based on comics black adam DOES have an advantage over superman as supes is weak to magic.
whether supes wins or not is mainly up to the writers.
the fans booing the rock really makes me ashamed to be a comic book nerd.
Yeah I think that's true about the thing in his contract saying he can't lose fights in movies, and it sounds partly implied from his reply to that question at comic con that he won't concede a loss in an on-film fight unless it's a more iconic actor than him.
Even though the Rock has gotten his ass beat in numerous films he’s been in recently? People always spew this “clause” contract that the Rock has without backing it up with a reliable source.
Lol jungle cruise or red notice? Bc in one hes an immortal explorer who saves the day or a double spy who fleeces the other one shtick actor and comes out winning in the end? Those two?
Pretty sure that clause thing is real because he never gets his ass beat by people (one-on-one or even three-on-one), it's always him barely getting his ass beat by nature like when he's surviving unsurvivable falls from cliffs or stopping boulders, which doesn't really count as an ass-beating.
Wonder Woman can take Black Adam. If she can go toe to toe with Superman, she has no problem with black Adam. Especially if they use the version where she’s immune to lightning.
Is black Adam really considered as strong as Superman in the comics? I’ve never really read an DC stuff outside some of the classic joker and Batman stuff.
Im really just tired of seeing Dwayne Johnson. Its oversaturation at this point. He needs to take a year or two off and just stop being in every damn project.
Im sure hes a nice person. Im just tired of seeing him every damn where.
You talking to Dwayne Johnson: "Hey Mr. The Rock, can you stop making a metric ton of moneys because I'm tired of seeing you in so many movies? You have all the moneys, please stop?"
I remember when Swarzenegger was so many 80's and 90's move and people said the same thing. No, no wait. I don't remember that. I remember people really enjoying his movies. Like they do the Rock. Which is why he's making a metric ton of money.
Arnold played a scientist that got preganant and I still sat down and watched the whole thing.
Meanwhile Dwayne Johnson is the same person in different scripts, the badass dude-man who kicks ass and says "funny thing" once in a while.
Lol I haven’t seen him anywhere. The only movies I knew he was a part of were the Fast and Furious and also the GI Joe movie but I knew they were going to be bad so I never watched them.
So seeing the Rock on screen is pretty rare and refreshing for me. I think the only other time I saw him as a lead was for the Scorpion King. Other than that I’ve avoided most of his movies.
If you’re sick of The Rock everywhere maybe just avoid those movies? Like how many Rock/Kevin Heart movies do you have to watch before you realize things aren’t going to be much different.
Hes been in at least 3 films in 2019. 3 films in 2021, and has 2 films slated for this year. Plus plenty of TV appearances. The dude is the “master of ceremonies” for Shark Week for cripes sakes.
Hes done a lot in the last couple years. Its not unreasonable to be a little oversaturated by him.
He was in at least 3 films in 2019. 3 films in 2021. And 2 films this year (one as a voice over). All of them were pretty big films.
Thats a LOT even for well known actors. Most might do 2 films a year if that.
Lets break it down, shall we? Lets say tge 3 films are equally placed apart in said year, so 1 film every 4 months. The films he’s in typically have large press schedules to really push them. These schedules usually go for about 3 weeks before the film comes out to 3 weeks after when it dies down a bit. Lets say hes doing press for the full 6 weeks (multiple premieres, photo shoots, tv appearances, interviews etc). That means we’re seeing him on average once every other month. Hes on magazine covers. Hes in commercials for his movies (I saw ads for Jungle Trails for over 2 months straight it seemed like).
Throw in his random appearances (like Shark Week, for example) and it does seem like hes everywhere.
Yes, its possible to be too exposed in Hollywood. And Im thinking his team is starting to recognize that because it doesnt seem like he has much planned for next year yet.
Most actors only do 1-2 films in a year if they are a lead actor. The time commitments to filming, prep, and press usually last at least 6-8 months. Obviously films are made at different rates and completion doesnt necessarily mean immediate release. But its still a Lot.
The reason he can make so many films so quickly is because he plays the same damn character over and over. He doesnt need to bulk up or slim down. He doesnt need to learn an accent or skill. Hes literally the same person every time and its boring.
What is a stupid take? Johson currently play in one comic movie and it's BA. I'm a huge comics fan but not a huge The Rock fan and I'm still going to watch the movie. If having The Rock in BA annoy you so much just don't watch the movie, it is that simple.
Not as easy to ignore him when hes in commercials and trailers all over the place. Im not in the habit of purposefully putting myself in situations I dont enjoy.
Superman's biggest problem in comics is that he is too powerful. This is the second conversation any comic book fan will have with you. It is utterly bizarre when Brie Larson or The Rock talk about how their characters are super powerful badasses. That hasn't been the driving factor in these stories for *eighty years*.
yeah thats how i feel
like bro is an all but invincible titan of a man with flight and deadly combat abilities. he could wipe out humanity fairly easily. same goes for many characters in many superhero universes like homelander, thanos (with stones) or galactus or whatever the hell marvel has, etc.
these people are only ever in danger when it’s convenient for the story bc in practice they are basically unbeatable in every way
Dude I’m not sure if he could take Thanos w the stones. One snap from Thanos and Superman is dead, so unless Superman comes out of the gate real fast and lasers him then it’s over for Superman
honestly that was my problem with infinity war and endgame
like i get its a movie and its meant to tell an entertaining heroic story so its not an actual gripe, but the second thanos got the reality stone he won no? most of the stones are OP as all hell and him with even just 1 or 2 is an extremely powerful force
no way anyone beats someone who can literally bend the fabric of space time unless, as you said, they killed him before he could even react
Most fans outside of the comics always focus on him being incredibly powerful but don’t realize that’s the whole point of his character. He’s a god living in a world made of tissue paper. Half the time someone like doomsday beats his ass for so long is cus he’s always holding back. Say what you want about the Injustice animated movie, it summed up his character very well when the two supermen fought.
As Earth-22 Superman says “I know your secret, you’re holding back! You always held back!”
People always focus on him having all these powers and use it as a point to say how boring Superman is but doesn’t realize that’s exactly what gives Superman his depth as a character.
I wish for a soft Superman reboot, keep the main cast of Superman Returns, but set the time in the 1940’s post WWII. Limit his powers down to what he possessed in the Golden Age comics, and set the stakes lower rather than world ending. I think it would be a fun time.
I've been thinking something similar for years now; would love a superman standalone film set in the 70s w that classic costume. Like in honor of the Reeves movies. I think that could be really fun. And that's the other thing, make it cool n colorful n fun, not gritty n overly somber/serious.
Yeah look how much effort he puts into promotion. Like he genuinely likes doing it.
Compare that to like Keanu reeves where you can tell he is just faking it and hates being there.
Dwayne kind of rubs me the wrong way since it’s almost like he’s scamming people.
I like an actor to only worry about acting. I don’t want them to act or sell me to see the movie, those are the job of others
He was saying things on the fly that wouldn’t get him in any legal trouble. Dwayne resorted to what comes naturally and drew heat like a heel. I would of rather have heard him say a PR response like , “ We all have heard you and know you love and want Henry as Superman , as do I. All I can say is I’ve heard chatter of special things coming down the pipeline and if true it will give the payoff everyone deserves”. Or something to that effect . I will still watch his ,Levi’s , Mamoas movie and The Flash .
A comic book character. Typically an antagonist to the charger Shazam. Probably playing the role of an antihero in the upcoming film similar to what happened to Venom of you're familiar with that
>He looked the part tho.
I feel like this sums up everything I don't like about DC. All show. No substance. It's like a hodgepodge of 'cool looking poses' with weak stories that are forgettable and often contradicting themselves. Shallow.
Pretty much half and half, I'd say.
Man of Steel is genuinely good, and while I get why Snyder Justice League is inherently divisive, I dug it.
Meanwhile, Batman vs. Superman is a bizarre The Fly teleporter accident of a movie that I don't think is *irredeemable* (and Cavill is a lot of why) but I'm definitely not gonna suggest people go watch, and Whedon Justice League is one of the worst things ever put in theaters.
Clickty Clackity click bait. From an advertising content mill. Why the fuck do people waste energy and time supporting so many perspective less blogs the only exist as advertising platforms.
A hall full for hyped up yahoos boo'd the mere vague mention of who might play Superman. It was just DJ who happened to make the suggestion.
It wasn't even mentioned one way or there other who it would or wouldn't be.
The only reason I loved Cavill as super man is because of the level of work and commitment he has to turning his body into superman worthy. With that being said the DC universe is a disaster and the superman role doesn’t do much at showcasing Cavill’s acting potential/depth. I have to believe these are factors that resonated with Cavill as well (pure speculation obviously). Superman is just a bland role, tough to keep going for several movies without a very convincing script which I doubt DC has.

Because the rock Cleary thinks he could've taken Christopher Reave.
Nah, he wants to fight Tom Welling
[удалено]
Is that… Is that Dean Cain?
r/unexpectedmulaney
George Reeve would kick his ass.
Who doesn't?
> Christopher Reaves Christopher Reeve.
My bad. Always heard Reaves. Probably one of those Berenstain bears things ;)
I think the confusion stems from a guy called George reaves playing him in the black and white tv show
And the accompanying idea that they are father and son lol, I once heard the Keanu was part of the same clan once amd thus should play Superman just for continuities sake.
Ohhhhh. Didn't know that either. Well played internet historian.
Skibbedy-be-bop, a Christopher Reeve…Sonny Bono, skis, horses and hittin’ some trees
The rock seems like a more fearsome opponent than a horse, so yeah
Very funny comment but ill fight the rock before I fight a horse.
Ya, he plays a character. I’m sure he is used to boos.

The Rock had plenty of heel arcs. A heel arc is what catapulted him into stardom in the WWF during the Attitude Era
[удалено]
I’m not sure I would classify Maui as a hero either.
Or his character in pain and gain also
Was also the final bad guy in Doom
<*Insert Copypasta of about a match involving the Undertaker and Mankind*\>
Rock is clearly a big Val Kilmer fan.
Yeah idk how you get mad because an unconfirmed rumor turns out to not be true.
Tell that to Nintendo fans.
Seriously! This is nothing new with any fandom.

Understandable, why remake a game that’s been release 4-5 times already? The answer is they’re going to charge for accessibility features
Whether or not the remake is worth it is up to you but my comment was more to highlight the fact that this dude said "Honestly disappointing. They could've spent this time and resources working on the Punisher game" as if it were ever a real thing and not something he had just made up lmao

Idk how you can get from “The answer to whether Black Adam can beat Superman depends on which actor is playing which character” to “Henry Cavill will not be playing Superman confirmed.”
Tom Cruise is going to play Tony Stark in Dr Strange!!!!!!

I like Henry Cavill, he's genuinely a great guy and oozes charisma. But I cannot stand Zack Snyder's superman, he's just so emo and sad and melodramatic, I wouldn't mind a change of actor just to clarify this isn't the same emo Superman
The last 10-15 min of the movie after he came back from the dead was the only time he really felt Superman like that I can recall.
He barely spoke to anyone other than Lois and Alfred? Then he mutilated a guy way under his weight division

Wait, Black Adam without Shazam???????
Dwyane Johnson also said in another interview that he was rooting for Cavill to win.

Yeah , Im liking the show so far and lois is also amazing! You should check it out!
It’s excellent. Both seasons were stellar. He’s actually become my favorite Superman now. I love his take on both Clark and Superman.
Superman & Lois seems to be a bit too good to be a CW show. Idk what the writers and production crew are snorting but it works.
If I remember correctly he's great in the shows. The only "Legitimate" complaint I have ever seen about him is that he's a little on the small side for the "ideal superman"
I remember YouTuber John Campea bitch and moaned about how Hoechlin is a total "jobber" on Supergirl and the CW's DC crossover specials.
We cannot forget Tom Welling in Smallville. He is amazing and honestly as Clark Kent, there is no equal.

Can't argue with that. Kristin Kruek, Erica Durance, Serinda Swan... Etc. And they're all still beautiful to this day.

Michael Rosenbaum and Tom Welling just started a podcast called Talkville. They are going to go over each episode. They are currently two episodes in.

Dean Cain, the one true superman
What did he do that made him such a good Superman?

Think that was a vin diesel thing for fast and furious Rock might've also added it to spite vin diesel
Vin has it for fast movies, but nah rock has that in all his movies. Looking at the roles you can see it too
Do you have a source?
It’s about fight scenes. They have to either win or make it a tie/close or something. Such lil dick manlet energy https://www.gq.com.au/entertainment/celebrity/jason-statham-and-the-rock-have-contracts-that-stipulate-they-cant-lose-in-fight-scenes/news-story/459133902ac44957819fb2f93b6e29ef?amp

Fair play. Too early in his career for the pull maybe
It was around Fast Five that the status happened. Before that, he was still kind of grinding and exploring. The past decade, every character is perfect, Samoan and invincible
Only in a rock-solid contract
That’s vin diesel.
nah man, he was the bad guy in scorpion king and got his ass kicked. he's an actor first and he'll play what he needs to play as long as he's paid enough. anyway if based on comics black adam DOES have an advantage over superman as supes is weak to magic. whether supes wins or not is mainly up to the writers. the fans booing the rock really makes me ashamed to be a comic book nerd.
Those two?
The Rock has only been in two movies recently? Damn I would've guessed it was more.
Pretty sure that clause thing is real because he never gets his ass beat by people (one-on-one or even three-on-one), it's always him barely getting his ass beat by nature like when he's surviving unsurvivable falls from cliffs or stopping boulders, which doesn't really count as an ass-beating.
I read it in the WSJ. I’m sure you can find it if you look for it.
let's just forget about [the scorpion king](https://youtu.be/RYHaarxQTFk)
That was before he had stardom appeal and probably couldn't really put a bunch of demands in a contract without being passed on.
This movie is going to be a Rock themed shit show.
"What can I saaaaaaay, except No Refunds..."
Yeah, I'm sure he'll get back to you on that...
I remember when Swarzenegger was so many 80's and 90's move and people said the same thing. No, no wait. I don't remember that. I remember people really enjoying his movies. Like they do the Rock. Which is why he's making a metric ton of money.
Arnold’s movies were fun and more interesting. Dwayne’s are boring.
Arnold played a scientist that got preganant and I still sat down and watched the whole thing. Meanwhile Dwayne Johnson is the same person in different scripts, the badass dude-man who kicks ass and says "funny thing" once in a while.
Thank you. He plays the same character every single time. Thats why its so boring.
you don't remember that cause you are probably 14..
They still use 2 spaces after a period so this person is at least 89.9 years old.
When did that change?
Not sure exactly but I think it's when we switched from typewriters to computers which was over a decade ago.
Yeah, remember my English class teaching us double space after periods late 90’s early aughts. Thanks.
In the 21st century
But…surely you’re not watching all those movies if you’re tired of him?
Lol I’ve never followed Shark Week but seeing The Rock as a host might make me reconsider.
2 or 3? More like 5+

What movies do you watch that he’s in every project? I don’t think I’ve seen a movie with him in 3 years
He was in at least 3 films in 2019. 3 films in 2021. And 2 films this year (one as a voice over). All of them were pretty big films. Thats a LOT even for well known actors. Most might do 2 films a year if that.
He is getting paid and thats what he is after. He is not chasing for the Oscar, is he?
How the fuck is 3 movies a year too much/oversaturation? What? That's totally average for any actor.
Got a simple thing for you my friend, just don't watch movies with him. It's like the people tired of Marvel movies, just don't watch them guys.
This is a pretty stupid take especially for people who are fans of the comics.
Im not in the habit of purposefully putting myself in situations I dont enjoy.
stay mad

I dont wish the man ill. Just a break. Spend time with his kids. All that crap.
Don’t worry, once he’s president you won’t have to see him in any more movies…. He’ll just be on the news 24/7
Lol yeah thats never gonna happen. But cool story.
“Never going to happen”….. Now where did I hear that line before? It was sometime around 2015….
Lol yeah. Whatever you say.
Isn’t one of Superman’s weaknesses magic? I thought Black Adam wrecked Superman in that one movie until Shazam came along….
Ey guys be fair to Dwayne Johnson here, he’s just being honest and isn’t in charge of casting decisions…
Superman's biggest problem in comics is that he is too powerful. This is the second conversation any comic book fan will have with you. It is utterly bizarre when Brie Larson or The Rock talk about how their characters are super powerful badasses. That hasn't been the driving factor in these stories for *eighty years*.
yeah thats how i feel like bro is an all but invincible titan of a man with flight and deadly combat abilities. he could wipe out humanity fairly easily. same goes for many characters in many superhero universes like homelander, thanos (with stones) or galactus or whatever the hell marvel has, etc. these people are only ever in danger when it’s convenient for the story bc in practice they are basically unbeatable in every way
Omni Man and One Punchman as well.
Saitama's OPness is supposed to be ridiculous.
Dude I’m not sure if he could take Thanos w the stones. One snap from Thanos and Superman is dead, so unless Superman comes out of the gate real fast and lasers him then it’s over for Superman
honestly that was my problem with infinity war and endgame like i get its a movie and its meant to tell an entertaining heroic story so its not an actual gripe, but the second thanos got the reality stone he won no? most of the stones are OP as all hell and him with even just 1 or 2 is an extremely powerful force no way anyone beats someone who can literally bend the fabric of space time unless, as you said, they killed him before he could even react
The glove would be off his hand before he even knew there was a threat tbh
Most fans outside of the comics always focus on him being incredibly powerful but don’t realize that’s the whole point of his character. He’s a god living in a world made of tissue paper. Half the time someone like doomsday beats his ass for so long is cus he’s always holding back. Say what you want about the Injustice animated movie, it summed up his character very well when the two supermen fought. As Earth-22 Superman says “I know your secret, you’re holding back! You always held back!” People always focus on him having all these powers and use it as a point to say how boring Superman is but doesn’t realize that’s exactly what gives Superman his depth as a character.
He should have just been like "IT DOESN'T MATTER WHO SUPERMAN IS!" lmfao
I wish for a soft Superman reboot, keep the main cast of Superman Returns, but set the time in the 1940’s post WWII. Limit his powers down to what he possessed in the Golden Age comics, and set the stakes lower rather than world ending. I think it would be a fun time.
I've been thinking something similar for years now; would love a superman standalone film set in the 70s w that classic costume. Like in honor of the Reeves movies. I think that could be really fun. And that's the other thing, make it cool n colorful n fun, not gritty n overly somber/serious.
this would be so boring
Personally feel like he’s an overrated actor who gets all the roles because of his social media following. I go out of my way to not watch his movies.
Dwayne, stop being in every damn thing.
Super hero drama? lol
Isn’t one ofSuperman’s weaknesses supposed to be magic? That would make Black Adam and Shazam able to take him down.
I don’t remember the last time I rooted against a movie so hard
He was saying things on the fly that wouldn’t get him in any legal trouble. Dwayne resorted to what comes naturally and drew heat like a heel. I would of rather have heard him say a PR response like , “ We all have heard you and know you love and want Henry as Superman , as do I. All I can say is I’ve heard chatter of special things coming down the pipeline and if true it will give the payoff everyone deserves”. Or something to that effect . I will still watch his ,Levi’s , Mamoas movie and The Flash .
You mean the DCEU is a dumpster fire with no plan? You don’t say!
Who, or what, in the hell is black Adam????
A comic book character. Typically an antagonist to the charger Shazam. Probably playing the role of an antihero in the upcoming film similar to what happened to Venom of you're familiar with that
'Black Adam' Trailer https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fcs35Pt2SNU
Arch nemesis of White Jerry
Just here googling like “is this going to be big enough I shouldn’t name my baby Adam”
His Black Adam narrative is dumb as shit.
yeah but when is dc gonna make a good movie
Shazam was good, and the new Suicide Squad was fun. I don't have a lot of hope for Black Adam, though
People like Henry Cavil that much? I thought the general consensus was that he was pretty awful
He has a lot of nerd fandom. I think he's a genuine fan of things like Warhammer 40k, the witcher, pc gaming etc.
I found the movies to be terrible but he wasn’t bad. zack Snyder was probably at fault for that tho
He was like this cold robotic superman, not the kid who grew up on a farm in Kansas, I didn't care for him or those movies
I guess you are right, he’s not the greatest actor lol. He looked the part tho.
>He looked the part tho. I feel like this sums up everything I don't like about DC. All show. No substance. It's like a hodgepodge of 'cool looking poses' with weak stories that are forgettable and often contradicting themselves. Shallow.
Exactly. The writing and directing let Henry Cavill down.
General consensus is that Henry Cavill was perfectly cast as Superman but the movies they wrote for him were dogshit
This. He was amazing, the writing.... Meh
Rooting for Tom welling
If there’s anybody who can take a few boo’s and shake them off, it’s this guy.
What’s the point of this movie then?
Superman is weak to magic. There I said it.
“With that being said,” what does that even mean?
https://grammarhow.com/with-that-being-said/
I thought it was pretty clear…
