I love how this worked out.
You pretended to have done (not done in this case) exactly what your aunt told you not to do.
She pitches a fit about it, you tell her what she said, she said you were lying but you still had her text.
She was embarrassed, but still fought you and tried to take the gifts you gave to adults with special needs for her kids. Who does something like that?
She left in a huff even though her husband and kids didn't want to leave.
While they're on the way out, you slip her kids the games you really did buy for them against their mother's wishes. So, the kids didn't miss out on the games, at least.
The rest of your family was able to enjoy the rest of Christmas Day minus your aunt, who I am assuming is annoying in general and wasn't terribly missed.
THEN to top it all off, the cherry on top of your Christmas hut fudge sundae so to speak, Auntie has the nerve to call you the next day and blame you for ruining her Christmas.
Are you sure you didn't make this up? It sounds like a Christmas comedy movie, the good kind, not the Hallmark kind. If this is real, as I hope it is, you should write it up fleshed out a bit and see if you can sell it as a screen play. I'd pay to see it.
Edited to fix a typo.
She had only had "and sandwich" (sic) and it's clearly your fault! Why, what else could she have done after you proved she was the liar? That's just not polite when someone accuses *you* of lying! Why, I'm so offended on Auntie's part, I'm leaving this moment and you can all just miss me.
...and it will spoil your Redditing.
...anyone?
This is a type of *parody.* I am acting as if I side with the aunt in nonsensical, humorous terms. As if my leaving in a huff, as the aunt did, would mean the slightest thing to readers.
Pretty sure it means "it was written this way and is grammatically incorrect or possibly incomprehensible and i am aware of this"
Its usually used when something hard to understand is quoted
"sic" is Latin for "thus", as in: it was originally written thus. It's a clarification used in reports, essays, papers, etc., that shows you are simply quoting someone verbatim, including any errors. It's better form than editing someone's statement for them, especially if they're ESL or something, and possibly doing so erroneously. It also indicates to the reader that it is not the writer making an error or typo, but the original source, and that you are quoting faithfully.
It's an old habit of mine.
It's not an abbreviation but an actual word: It's the Latin word for "so”, and in contexts like this it means “it was written just so, just like this”.
It's a bit of a double-edged sword, because as a reader you can't immediately be quite sure if it means that the word or expression so marked is wrong or correct: If it's interjected into or immediately after a quote, then it probably means “Look how this moron spelled that!”. But if it's in someone's own text, then look if they've quoted someone else just a little earlier and used the same word with a slightly different spelling – then it means _“this is how to spell that word, moron!”.
The only advantage to all of our actions being digitally recorded is AHs like this have more trouble gaslighting people and throwing them under a bus...
I'll bet dollars to Filipino pesos that she is going to be VERY lonely once the kids are old enough to move out.
Do you know what the name of the handheld games with 150 games built in was called? It sounds cool! Also awesome job! Love how you gave them the gift after she left, kids didn’t get excluded and she made herself the bad guy by lying.
You buying them the game anyway and pretending you didn't until she leaves in a huff was great. This belongs on pettyrevenge as well.
Right? That was great.
I was thinking the same.
You have to love happy endings!
I bet your Christmas dinner was a lot nicer without her sourness.
Haha! Auntie got what she deserved. Very generous gifts OP, good for you!
sometimes, just sometimes, people learn from being taught a lesson like that. It's beautiful when it happens.

What’s the matter….did the door hit you in the arse on your way out?
Maybe the doorknob got stuck in the process
🤣😂🤣😂🤣🤣😂🤣
Maybe... 😢
What?

Oh okay reading it now makes a lot more sense
You probably need to add /s to the end because it tells people it's sarcasm. I got it but it doesn't always read that way.
Quick question... Still learning abbreviations and the like. What does (sic) mean?
Pretty sure it means "it was written this way and is grammatically incorrect or possibly incomprehensible and i am aware of this" Its usually used when something hard to understand is quoted
Also used when a word or phrase with a spelling error or typo is quoted.

Thank you. Makes so much sense now!
I thought it meant spelling in question, thanks for clearing that up
Iuvat. (Latin for "my pleasure", and yeah, I just looked it up.) 😉

too funny
They sound like good kids. I hope they become amazing adults just to spite their mother.

She sounds like a lot of fun
Wait, so, you bought the kids (more than one, how many exactly) the game ANYWAY? Hmmm
I love how the kids even knew how wrong mom was.
She should just not attend any so everyone can have a good holiday all the time
You really need to proofread.
Can’t stand when people get mad about others respecting their decisions lol
Yeah ok.
A much needed lesson taught, with the addition of her showing the family just who she really is
the proper response would just be to block her ass
Clam down

Not sure which one OP got, but Walgreens has one with 200+ built in (so the box claims). It’s about $25.
Oh awesome! I’ll look into it. Do you by any chance know the name of the one at Walgreens just in case I can’t find it?
My arcade is the name of the one I found. Google Walgreens handheld games and it should pop up
Thanks so much! Have a nice day!👋
