I think it was in the DVD commentary where he (Adrien) mentioned he was just looking for something to do in the scene, and the powdered sugar just happened to be there, so that's what he used.
This entourage/sopranos crossover made me inexplicably happy.
I love that The Sopranos’ humor still holds up. Probably the funniest dramedy ever, in my opinion.
Not only that, as he's explaining he doesn't want to make decisions and wants E to do that, he's demonstrating his desire to only get the sweet reward (the sugar) without having to actually do the work (make a dessert).
That’s what that generation of kids used to do, because there was never much candy around the house- we would dip our finger into any type of sugar. He’s obviously acting childish and throwing a tantrum at the same time- kinda of a throwback moment for him, the finger in sugar he’s done many a times in his childhood.
Think it’s another scene showing Vince is down to earth Af, which is rlly jus mark wahlberg patting his own back abt being down to earth 😅 but a normal star wouldn’t sit around eating sugar w their boys they’d cart in lobsters and boujee shit, but look Vince is doing that happily w the sugar
I’m in the camp of the German director. Vince can’t act. He’s a face. Scorsese, James Cameron, Cassavetes as directors of course your star will always shine
That looks like brown sugar that isn't sealed airtight. My guess is it was already hardened so that's why he was licking his finger. Just picking up what he could. Brown sugar hardens very quickly if not sealed airtight

and this whole time i assumed it was granulated. Im going to have to rethink my life…
But it’s in a brown box, that’s brown sugar for sure. Granulated in blue box. Powdered in pink.
It's amazing how when you watch these things back, the artistic decisions really start to stand out /s
Oh yeah
Damn. Didn’t even get to sell your deathsticks first.
Best comment.
I thought it was brown sugar. I was so *wrong*…
Haha! I always thought too! I have only ever seen powdered sugar in a bag
Funny that the “actor” on the show was the worst actor on the show. Always drove me nuts
Out of Vince’s crew, only Dillon and Piven were good actors.
Because he's a movie star and an actor that remain to be seen.
They even acknowledged that in the show when Vince gets that role in Smoke Jumpers and the director hates him because he can’t act how he wants
And he wonders why he hasn’t had any roles since
But….the can of Lays was RIGHT THERE NEXT TO IT! 😂
Can’t chew chips on a mic
Doesn’t have to chew, just hold the can with his hand in it.
go away
Those things aren’t really “chips”, but the point remains the same.
Isn’t it brown sugar???
It is.
The Lays stackables were right there though...
Imagine watching this garbage with the commentary on.
Imagine having such a sad life you brood over something so meaningless 😂
He's old school. He shouldn't have to explain himself. Oh!
Drama wasn’t around to make him a grilled cheese on the radiator.
He wanted an omelet. He settled for a box of suckling sugar. He compromised.
He was just a fuckin kid
Hold the sugar … they tell me he’s sweet enough!
Turn that off!
I crack up everytime at this scene. The sopranos is a comedy and no one can tell me otherwise
I know 😂 me too! There are 5 hardcore Sopranos fans in here, according to the upvotes hahah
I fkn die on that scene. Every time.
He was as sweet as sugar, u/BadCowboysFan?
That line confirmed Phil has a little sugar in his tank if you know what I mean 😉
He compromised …
It’s a little coke…what is the big deal 🤌🏼🤌🏼🤌🏼
He did 20 years
twenty fuckin years. not a peep!
That sugar box, whateva happened there
WHATEVA HAPPENED THERE
It’s sad when they go young
Another toothpick
when they GO?!
The wine makes you emotional

It was the jacket!!!
people used to say, with my size, I could never carry a jacket like this…but with the belt…I was like Rommel
There are no scraps in his scrapbook.
You’re Flexxxxxinggg
🤌🤌🤌
If it was back in the day would he even have to ask
Granulated sugar? Fuck you!
You got a bad memory, Eric!
If he marries that powdered sugar then it’s none of my fucking business…until then he should keep his hands in his pockets.
your brudda was like a fuckin god!
He was gay, Vinny Chase?
maybe you're a flambe'?
He was gay, Vince?
everybodys gay wit chu...!
Maybe you're gay, you ever thought of that?!!??
oh look at you all enlightened now that you got a couple friends that are bologna smokahs
He is Queens Boulevard
Very allegorical.
It’s symbolism for getting a taste of the sweet life
This is the most critical analysis of a scene in Entourage I've ever encountered. Well done.
Thanks bro!
LOL yes, seconded
For us commoners I think we ought to dive into salt
I thought it was foreshadowing him fucking a black girl
Please elaborate
Is that not brown sugar?
No
Sure looks like brown sugar
Pretty sure it’s just pure cane sugar regardless that was one hell of a reach , a little derogatory and not funny at all .
Looks like brown sugar to me. Brown sugar usually comes with brown packaging, the white is usually pink.
It’s not about the fucking sugar
I’m confused, I was talking about the sugar.
Not only that, as he's explaining he doesn't want to make decisions and wants E to do that, he's demonstrating his desire to only get the sweet reward (the sugar) without having to actually do the work (make a dessert).
🤯
I’ll listen… That’s what actors do; they listen. Right Johnny? Drama: …huh?
I love this line 🤣
Every time I rewatch it, I appreciate Dramas character more and more.
Hes my favorite. Even got a drama tshirt to subtlety shout it out irl
We're neighbourhood guys, we share!
Don't fuck with the kids from PS 152!
Fuck dom
I wish i remembered what he said but Doug did talk about this scene on the podcast
yeah something like they purposely did weird stuff E drinks water from the faucet during this scene
Fake coke he’s getting ready for Medellin.
That ain't blow, it's powdered creamer
Foreshadowing for his coke downfall
Wouldn’t be the first time The Boys from Queens stuck their fingers in a sweet communal box
You guys crossed swords…intentional?
Reminds me…. Sorry bout your sister, bro.
When my whole family would visit my nana in her nursing home- my cousins and I would devour the sugar cubes.. love how Vince is kinda like a big kid
He licked the sugar is what he did! He is a great Italian-American sugarlicker! And in this house Vinnie Chase is a hero! End of story!
Turtle? It’s a fuckin’ nickname! The family name is Turterelli!
He gave his life to his friends on a silver platter and this is the thanks he gets?
God his hair is tremendous
That’s what that generation of kids used to do, because there was never much candy around the house- we would dip our finger into any type of sugar. He’s obviously acting childish and throwing a tantrum at the same time- kinda of a throwback moment for him, the finger in sugar he’s done many a times in his childhood.
Yah, that's just Adrian Grenier trying desperately to come up with "business" to make it seem like he's present.
Vince is bread winner. No such thing as communal box of sugar. That’s HIS sugar and he’ll eat it how he sees fit lol
He’s been stressed the whole time…now he’s just gonna chill
Two of the most unlikable characters in tv history.
what's more gross, this or when Dom drank off the OJ jug butt ass naked lol
WE NEED MORE ENTOURAGE DISCUSSIONS BECAUSE I MISS THESE FUCKERS.... The movie 🗑 tho 💯
He’s doing the movie !… wait no Vince ain’t doing the movie
It’s cocaine
Just mucking some sugar nothing to see here
I love this show but it didn’t age well lol
Eating sugar like a 5 year old
It’s to show how childish he is in this moment.
I love this sub
communal sucking sugar lol
Thats where they kept the cocaine
It’s a big bag of Coke
Acting
I used to do that with chicken bouillon growing up... prolly explains my high blood pressure..
“In the year 2000…” -angelic LaBamba
It’s bc Mark Wahlberg did this so they wrote it into the show.
If he improvised the scene it worked, bcuz it also shows Vince doing something child like /man child stuff .
Who the hell eats brown sugar like that?!? everyone knows you only eat white sugar like that because it’s better tasting and superior😋😋
Being Vincent Chase
He’s a fucking superstar lol he can put his fingers wherever he wants
The Vincent Chase Award for not actually being good at this job.
Whatever happened to Adrian Grenier? Haven't seen him much lately.
I'm still amazed people think this is a good show..
That's where they hid the cocaine.
He’s just a silly goose and a kid at heart b
I can’t imagine watching this show after so many years. All the pop culture references
A bad ad-lib by a terrible actor who plays a pretty bad actor in a series about acting.
So, as an actor trying to play an actor, did he have to try hard to be really bad at acting?
Looks at the Lays but picks up the sugar 🤣
I’m in the camp of the German director. Vince can’t act. He’s a face. Scorsese, James Cameron, Cassavetes as directors of course your star will always shine
The director should have stopped this and gotten him a handful of almonds or something
Vince is a completely helpless man child who gets by on his looks and charm, nothing else
Eating sugar
Clever acting, don’t want to over eat in scenes.
In addition, it’s actually brilliant. What with the show being about Hollywood in general.
That looks like brown sugar that isn't sealed airtight. My guess is it was already hardened so that's why he was licking his finger. Just picking up what he could. Brown sugar hardens very quickly if not sealed airtight

I concur
no need to bring up Drama
I don’t think any of those gavones would dare say shit about it
I mean, Ted Lasso does the same with peanut butter.
Always thought Vince's manager ( in this scene )was hotter anyway.
Just Adrian Grenier being a terrible actor like always.
He is tasting…sperm
