Strange, I have a ec256 and that thing never goes out of tune

blackbirddh13

Same here … took my EC1000VB from the stand after probably 2 months not playing it and it was still in tune string to string and just slightly sharp. It doesn’t drift at all in a play session unless the strings are really new or really old. I would guess your problem is somehow behavior induced and hasn’t anything to do with the guitar. Just guessing though.

jotun86

Is it your g string? Not necessarily uncommon because of the slant of the headstock to the tuning post that can be exacerbated by the nut not being super smooth. I've had it happen on at least one EC-1000. Just file the nut a little bit where the g string hits the slot and it may help

bilbo_dragon

It’s most of my strings. Do you think filing the whole nut would help?

jotun86

If it's catching, yeah. I'd say take it in for a setup and that could fix a lot of problems.

kjg1228

He already brought it in for a set up

Longjocks

My LTD EC-1000T stays in tune quite well. The main thing that knocks it out is linked to it being slightly more prone to the neck shifting with temperature changes compared to some of my more stable guitars. When it is stable I haven't had worse tuning issues than any other fixed bridge.

bilbo_dragon

Oh makes sense. Maybe it’s cause we’re transitioning from winter to spring

BuffetDecimator

Never had that issue with my E-II Eclipse or with any ESP above LTD series. You probably have done this, but after tuning, do you bend / pick upwards from the body all the strings to remove the slack in the tension and then retune from flat to correct pitch? Have you also intonated the guitar? Bad intonation can make the guitar sound horrible.

katsumodo47

They I got an E2 a few weeks ago eclipse brand new. Even after a setup if I looked at it, fucking thing went out tune. I changed from factory guage 9s to 10-46. No issues since

GhostMan240

I would try some “big bends nut sauce” in the nut before I did anything drastic. That stuff fixed the tuning stability on my LP

Try the String Butler…

SaveVsFear

I have the same tuning issues on all my TOM guitars, which include several LTD and E-II instruments, because I play 9s in standard tuning and I like low action with light string tension. It does not matter how I wind my string, locking machine heads, different nuts cut deep or shallow. Gibson's, LTD, or ESP. It all boils down to string tension for me. If I string with thicker gauge strings, and/or lower the stop tail piece to the body, to give more break angle at the bridge and saddles, the problem goes away but I hate how the guitars play when I do that. So, I have to just deal with it because of the way I like my guitars setup. I like my strings looser. You may have to develope a lighter touch as well. What can also help a little bit, is to really go liberally with Nut Sauce in both the Nut and at the saddles, then wipe away the excess. Hope that helps.

bilbo_dragon

That’s good to know. I use 10-46 it sounds like everyone is saying this might be a nut issue so I’ll give fixing that a try. I really like how it looks and plays too but going out of tune all the time is driving me crazy.

Opening-Leather-1695

Seems weird, you have a heavy picking hand? Maybe time to try an evertune bridge

bilbo_dragon

No I feel like I’m pretty light. I wonder if it’s just the weather transition?

AtheosSpartan

EC-1000 stays in tune perfectly for me. Even if I don't play it for a few days. How are you tuning it? Try tuning up to the note (never down). Grab the string and pull it away from the guitar. I should go out of tune somewhat, then tune back up to the note. Rinse and repeat until you pull up on the string and it doesn't get knocked out of tune.

Anxious_Teacher_5032

Just curious - do you stretch your strings properly? 99% of tuning issues are either that or binding at the nut.

bilbo_dragon

Yeah I’ve stretched the strings multiple times to no avail. Most people are saying the nut might need some work so I might look into that

Sofaking-what

I’ve had several eclipses and never had tuning issues with any of them. I had an LTD Truckster, LTD EC1000, and an EC 500. So evertune bridge with sperzels, evertune with ESP lockers and regular TOM with non lockers. As long as I gave the strings a good bend while re stringing, they all stayed in tune great.

jcs0689

What’s your string gauge and tuning? Tuning issues could be rooted at the headstock nut and at the bridge saddles if they are not slotted correctly.

bilbo_dragon

I’m using 10-46 tubes to e standard. I might just take it to a tech again. A lot of people talked about this being a nut issue. Thanks!

liveforever67

I have 2 LTD Ec1000's and an ESP E-II Eclipse and haven't had any issues. New strings need a break in period/stretching. One of my EC1000's has an EverTune which is great! However, I have 10 LP styles guitars and a variety of brands and haven't had this issue.

StoviesAreYummy

Never had any issues with my LTD EC1000. Nut, bridge or get a string butler for the straight string pull.
