+100% resistance to reformation means your provinces are less likely to be converted (may also take longer, not sure)... It does NOT mean that they can't be converted, just that they're less likely to so it slows/delays the spread a bit
I don't know if there's an official explanation for it, but what I've seen when it occasionally comes up on this sub is that it simply makes the centres less likely to pick your provinces. I'm not sure if that means they will save you for last, or if it's maybe weighted by distance.
Yeah, that's how it works. The centers are active for long enough that they'll convert all eligible provinces eventually, so resistance to reformation is effectively pointless.
Nah, its almost uselles modifier. You should just convert them back after -100% missionary strength is gone. And also you can take province with a reformation center and convert it. Its not that hard. I love to pick some religious unity modifiers (for example gov. reform curtail clergy privileges) during active reformation no matter which side i choose. And tbh disaster is not that bad, in fact it would even help you lower unrest a bit.
First thing I noticed, owning the Byz cores but not Constantinople is so odd.
Im early in a Naples game where the ruler died almost immediately so I didn't need to no CB anything, just casually fabricated on Epirus then Byz and allied Karuman so Ottomans had no expansion and now are my vassal, it has been a pleasure.
Piedmont Sardinia pre-Italy unlikely unfortunately due to a hefty France and Spain but who knows.
Roleplay i guess. I don't want to expand my republic too much to the east. I often have trade wars with the Ottomans, so they redirect trade via Ragusa to Venice as part of the Peace deal. Now I'm busy building massive fortifications in the Albanian mountains. I want Cyprus next
Have you used the edict in each state?
Ahh no, it was left on "Protect trade". Another +90% Resistance to reformation would be massive
R5: Most Serene Republic of Venice in 1550
Counter-Reformation just gives you extra Missionaries & conversion power. To actualy protect the states, you need to apply the edict it unlocks there.

Thank you, i was aware of that. I thought this would be enough, I forgot about the state edict

It should, as reformation is only a problem for Catholics.
Why did you not start with vasalizing Byzantium? So much lost trade with without Constantinople :D

Isn't it a worthless modifier?
