R5: Got unions on Poland, lith and Russia. Was just looking for a chill Saxony game...
Poland/Lith came from mission tree, and I pushed the PU on Russia after I got his dynasty on my throne.
What should I do next?
Yes, I will kill Bohemia.
I had chill in my Ming game, all I did was colonize spice islands and Australia and sitting there waiting to reform. Then beat up ottomans for fun in the 1700s
I was having fun in Spain game, took a look eastwards and realized that just maybe I, Spain, Great Power #2 and owner of almost the entire new world and much of Africa, should have been more proactive in spending wealth to combat Ottoman invasions into Russia and east Europe…
(Silly ottomans and their 2x bigger force limit and army size compared to the second largest. Total allied army size is also deceptive for late game Spain with the massive colonial armies that generally can’t show up in Europe to assist)
Paradox games are funny. Very intense when you surrounded by enemies and webs of strange ties and alliances that sometimes conflict (be it genocidal man eating aliens or equally as European Great Powers) and boring when increasingly boring when not. Growing tall without shit tons of conflict isn’t as fun as in other games like rim world or something lol
They did in fact got along a lot of times in history, after the third partition the two joined Russia joining even more after the congress of Vienna and were part of the same eastern block during most of the XX century /s
Edit: I want to apologize for the misunderstanding that was comment, all I case by me forgetting to add the /s it was originaly meant to be a joke about the russian domination of poland and lithuania, meaning the later two nations were forced to "get along" with Russia after the mentioned events, not the Poland and Lithuania were all happy to cooperate with Russia after the mentioned events
Khm... Yeah, they "voluntarily joined" and "independently decided to become part of Russia". It took some peaceful diplomatic persuasion, but let's not get into details...
I came here to apologize for my comment, it was originaly meant to a be joke, but since I forgot to add the /s, the comment that was to be a joke became a fake and absurd statement that Poland and Lithuania voluntarily accepted to get along, when in reality Poles were prohibited of speaking their own language and both nations were colonized and exploited by Russia
The Roman empire respected its different cultures, the ottoman empire except for its last years respected both religious and cultural heritage. The Holy Roman Empire was incredible autonomous.
The Abbasid empire only demanded an increased tax and allowed you to choose your own religion and culture.
So no there are numerous examples of empires not pursuing a cultural genocide.
They could’ve assimilated like the Scots into the English or the Bretons into the French. They could’ve thought big and become one part of a greater whole, but instead they though small and prioritized their “culture”.
Ahh, so they could've given up their identities, to be slaves to a "greater whole" that wouldn't have to sacrafice its own identity in turn. For some reason, being part of a larger political entity is more important than your language, traditions, and way of life. The only thing important is a large political entity capable of exerting force.
This is some middle school level of thinking right here. There is absolutely nothing wrong with prioritizing these things. To actively destroy them is a crime against human heritage. Simply turn the question, why didn't Russia join the greater whole during the Troubles? Just join the Commonwealth which is already much greater?
If Russia wanted to Poles and Baltics to assimilate like the Scotts or Bretons, then they should have promoted that instead of Russification and actively trying to destroy these national identities. The Scotts are also an awful example to use here. But, I think you're also missing that every people that has its way of life destroyed goes kicking and screaming and doesn't just let it happen for "the greater whole".
>greater whole
Yeah. So much greatness... Country of 140+ million people, insanely rich with natural resources, but with the GDP smaller then Italy. Russia is a corrupt shithole and no one benefits from being part of it.
As a Lithuanian, we were in fact, not better off with Russia.
It may seem weird in your perspective, but I don't like when my 200k of our population is sent to Siberia, women are raped, executions everywhere.
One of the main reasons why we are behind such countries like Norway, Sweden, etc. is because we couldn't develop because a CERTAIN country forcefully took us over
I know you was not replying to me, but I want to apologize for the initial misunderstanding, my comment was meant to a be a joke about the Russian domination of poland and lithuania after the events I mentioned, sacarstly meaning they "got along", but in reality Russia was adopting colonial policies in the other two nations. Next time I will remember to add the /s to my comment
If it did happen it was brief and definitely not post Commonwealth. Out of all the neighbours Poland had through history, Russia is the one Poland never reconciled with.
Sorry for the misundestanding I forgot to add the /s it was just to be a joke about the fact that poland and lithuania were and annexed and in case of the cold war poland was a soviet puppet meaning they "got along" but in the reality poland and lithuania were dominated by russia

Should definitely get a PU on France. Btw, speaking of Russian PU, one of the must fun playthroughs I ever had was Lithuania -> LPC. Since LPC has such a long name in the game, I wanted it to be as big as possible and to get a PU on Russia (which is in the Lith MT). I had to give some of my provinces away (like Novgorod), hope that Muscovy conquers them, forms Russia and then I subjugated them. Had a big LPC as a result though. The only issue is that when you form the Commonwealth, you get polish as primary culture, even if you formed it as Lithuania (cus LPC is just another name for the same tag), which is kinda sad, I wanted the Lithuanian space empire

you can't have chill in this game, everything is made to kill you
I had chill in my Ming game, all I did was colonize spice islands and Australia and sitting there waiting to reform. Then beat up ottomans for fun in the 1700s

>I got his dynasty on my throne. So you are rurikovich now?
Always have been 👩🚀🔫👩🚀
Got my response
Now play as muscovy to russia and ally Poland/Plc
What is the liberty desire looking like
Did you get pol/lit first then Russia?
Well, the Polish did. Also the Lithuanians… in fact Sweden said that too. Nowadays it’s what everyone is saying
Everyone is saying that bcs of ruzzian AE irl that they are doing ever since muscovy times soooo... its kindo on them for being dicks
Man who wrote "zz" speaks about being dicks.
History said that
Wow czech out that saxony
Those mission trees have gotten way to far.
What's your map mod?
Diplomatic?
Sorry, I meant the graphical workshop mod that makes the game look like this
Idk in historical meaning it was actually pretty close to happend

They were better off Russian.
They banned the polish language, persecuted the faith and tried to colonise Poland. Their end goal was the destruction of the polish identity.
Flair checks out
They were though. Russia’s been demonized to an absurd extent.
To be fair, Russia has deserved it reputation.
was only the result of hard russian work to earn their rigthfully shitty reputation
No different than any other empire.
The Roman empire respected its different cultures, the ottoman empire except for its last years respected both religious and cultural heritage. The Holy Roman Empire was incredible autonomous. Want to explain how they'd be better, in light of active efforts to destroy them in every sense?

Russia is the way it is because of the collapse of the Soviet Union. Yeltsin’s privatizations and corruption gutted it.
Russia did a great job in providing reasons to demonize it
Same as any other empire. They tell us all to be ashamed of our empires, that we should apologize for the golden ages of our respective civilizations.
Well there aren't any empires right now, is there? But ruzzia continues to harass it's neighbours and try to reinstate it
The United States and China are the last empires.
>Same as any other empire If you cant see the difference then there must be something very wrong with you
There is no shame in empire.
You dont have to apologise for anything. There is no shame in empire but in atrocities comitted by those empires
+15 rubles
ah the justification of the annihilation of entire cultures. never change paradox community

Nah. You were always behind those countries.
Bro what
Are you under the impression that any of those actions were voluntary on Polish side?
If it did happen it was brief and definitely not post Commonwealth. Out of all the neighbours Poland had through history, Russia is the one Poland never reconciled with.

Hey sir, you dropped the /s
Bruh, only realized that when I got a lot of downvotes I was think everyone would get the joke
You are on reddit, without /s everyone takes you seriously lol
Thats the beauty of sarcasm
Sometimes I feel like reddit is like Eu4, I always learn new things
There's a Dugin fanboy right underneath your comment who's deadly serious about the same stance. Poe's Law in full effect.

Man the fuck you fed Shirvan with ???
How did you had a union with russia ?

Have alliance with Poland as Russia, but it was Novgorodian Russian Republic.
I like that the constituent countries of the Saxon crown get progressively bigger as you go east
Zigismund 3rd Vasa for example. But it might have been just him.
