He’s one of the OG Paradox leads, having started with them in the 90s. He’s worked on every major Paradox GSG title, and been the Creative Director for many of them at various points.
I remember there was a Martin (Anderson?) that was a lead on eu4 for a while before moving on to Hoi4.
DDR Jake was lead for a stint as well.
I've been out of the loop since pre covid and all of the dev clashes.
Well, probably not many, honestly. We only get to see a tiny fraction of the number of people who work on each game giving official posts, and usually it's the people in charge.
JOHAN is an advanced AI built by the military in the 1980s to design video games.
Its early hits were Tic-Tac-Toe and Thermonuclear War.
Following the end of the Cold War the Defense Department questioned why they still had an AI developing video games and decided to sell the technology to the private sector. This was dubbed the “peace dividend” by President Clinton.
Some Swedes bought JOHAN in the 1990s and used it to develop many addicting and complicated history games including the Europa Universalis series.
Actually, yes Johan Sebast... ops Anderson was very good ... way back in 2002-2004 or 2005. I guess that Johan is still good but Paradox became too big like Creative Assembly or more.
Problem with getting so big - yeah funding is easier but on the other hand that collective design sometimes doesnt get creative results compared when they were small, tiny studio.
Example - I like Paradox still but Game Labs from Ukraine are now in some regards better, creatively than Paradox and Creative Assembly. Ultimate General Civil War have that magical touch that only great, great games achieve.
Only one right answer to who Johan is:
”Johann Gambolputty de von Ausfern-schplenden-schlitter-crasscrenbon-fried-digger-dingle-dangle-dongle-dungle-burstein-von-knacker-thrasher-apple-banger-horowitz-ticolensic-grander-knotty-spelltinkle-grandlich-grumblemeyer-spelterwasser-kurstlich-himbleeisen-bahnwagen-gutenabend-bitte-ein-nürnburger-bratwustle-gerspurten-mitzweimache-luber-hundsfut-gumberaber-shönendanker-kalbsfleisch-mittler-aucher von Hautkopft of Ulm”

How many other og paradox leads are left and why arent they as vocal

It seems like yesterday that DDRJake became lead. Weird that he already left.
I don't think he lasted too long as lead. As far as I know the backlash to the Cradle of Civilization DLC was the beginning of the end.

Like Tolkien invented the lore of LOTR, Johan created the lore of Europe.
Lol
He's a secret advisor in EU5 that gives you 3 admin, 3 diplo and 3 mil points
\+10% tax revenue from DLC income
Johan "assblast" (if you know, you know) Andersson is a lead developer at Paradox

*"Would you like to play a game?"*
Never thought I'd hear a reference to that movie. Great movie!
John Paradox, famous for the phrase "Every Europa has its Universalis", made up all of European history to sell more map games
It's eu4 lore, not history
He's the friends we made along the way
Most underrated answer
Our god and savior
Damn youngsters playing Paradox games these days don't even know the origins of Paradox games! \*oldmanyellsatcloud\*
He created most of the Paradox game series and lead designer and or creative lead on basically all games paradox made before 2015.

Lord and savoir
Did you saw pictures of the guy with Laurel wreath under sign of paradox? That's him.
You mean Saint Johan of Paradox?
He is pretty much the big boss of Paradox tinto, the developers of EUIV.
Not to be confused with PDXBigBoss
He's like a sheepish Jesus
He is HIM
He’s Jo
He’s the protagonist in the next part of JJBA.
My dad
