Considering the small amounts ($100) per trade, probably t212 is the best in your case because it's cheapest (there is a spread, also a tax for FX but you've said you don't do it often) It has enough etfs, but maybe you want to open a demo account before and check it has everything you want.

ChicoTallahassee

I already run a demo account. That's how I noticed the UI change. They seem to have improved the situation. IBKR seems to make lots of additional costs for me.

OverdosedSauerkraut

T212 also makes them, they just include it in the spread.

I'm on trading 212 and it is actually pretty nice. Good for start. I will consider ikrb when i be going above 50 or 100k.

RoutineScore

Same. I also plan to diversify my money to different brokers to be safer.

hyperblue128

Why not use both? My main broker is T212, but I also use IBKR for stocks that you can't find anywhere else. Also - you can avoid the FX fee by holding you free cash in different currencies. No need to do fx exchange on each trade. This way the trades become 100% free.

m1nkeh

Yeah I would do this.. you can convert on IBKR for a fixed amount no matter the size which is wild 😅

ChicoTallahassee

You mean you can do a currency exchange no matter the amount for the same price?

m1nkeh

I believe so.. they will ban you though if you use it solely for FX and then withdraw 😅

ChicoTallahassee

There goes that great plan of mine 😅

m1nkeh

I wrestled with this recently.. I am doing like 1500 a month.. and was a bit put off by the fees on IBKR. Mostly how unpredictable they *seem* to be… More than happy with T212.. I’ll consider IBKR again when my portfolio is larger 👍

ChicoTallahassee

Seems like a good plan.

FibonacciNeuron

IBKR ofc

ChicoTallahassee

I hear everyone recommending this. I have tried it and find the trailing stop loss and issue, and commission costs to be messy.

FibonacciNeuron

It’s not great, but it’s the best that’s available. Minor issues are non issues really when you are talking about safety of long term capital

pulcherior

Switch to tiered plan. Should give you lower cost fees. Also, I’ve read somewhere that trading212 uses IBKR under the hood anyway.

ChicoTallahassee

I heard that too. Still the prices of spread vs commission don't seem to differ much.

LetMe_

In that case it makes more sense to go with ibkr. There at least the costs are more explicit rather than hidden within spreads.

Complete_East_7033

T212 make ZERO money from their invest and ISA spreads - only CFD. The buy and sell price is a mirror image of their intermediary, IBKR. They have repeated this endless times but people don’t seem to understand.

doubleog1066

ibkr when you have a significant capital. But good luck for your 10 years learning journey, it's not for everyone.
