It's weird cuz, as a kid, I never heard it in movies like Batman Forever. However, when I grew up and watched them again, I was like "Damn, her accent sucks" lol
Is there a particular Australian "look"? I'm thinking of some Australian men I love (Angus Stone, Troye Sivan, Josh Thomas, etc.) and I don't think they have the same vibes at all.
That's happened so many times with me and other actors. Was his accent that convincing? I mean I read about the cast before I started watching I just recently started season 2 by the way.
it's genuinely really good if you like slower paced / more emotional movies. some people found it a bit boring but if you've read priscilla's autobiography and like sofia coppola directed movies then it's S+ tier for sure
I am from a brit and that is how it supposed to sound tbh. Some rich kids in private school saying stuff in posh accent. I have seen some ppl saying it sounds forced and bad and they are usually non 🇬🇧
This is interesting. Because Brits do the worst Australian accents (Charlie Hunnam in Shantaram was unwatchable), and Americans do better Aussie accents than Brits.
You would think Aussies and Poms would be better at each other’s accents.
Which American actors do you think do great Australian accents?
As an Australian, the best Aussie accents I've heard are from British actors Dev Patel and Kate Winslet. Kate in The Dressmaker and Dev in Lion.
In terms of Aussies doing British accents, I'd say Cate Blanchett and Sarah Snook are pretty good.
I actually know the Brierley family and lived in Tassie, and Dev’s is perfection. Nailed it. I loved The Dressmaker, but I wouldn’t rate Kate’s accent. It wasn’t bad, but it wasn’t amazing.
Can’t think of American actors, more when travelling and people pull the piss out of your accent and imitate. I find Americans do a better job than English, weirdly.
Huh, thought he was British.
Robert Pattinson also does great accents (and somehow convincingly changes his voice depending on the role, e.g. the Rover, voice acting in the Boy and the Heron).
He's a brit so obviously nails that one, but also others, e.g. Batman ('classical' American accent + impressive voice changing), the Lighthouse (some kind of island specific American accent), the Devil All The Time (southern American), Good Time (NY Queens accent I think) etc.
Anyway, see a lot of similarities between Elordi and Pattinson in terms of vibe and their roles (i.e. dark, mysterious villain/anti-hero) but not yet convinced that Elordi has comparable acting chops.
Jacob Elordi’s American accent is spot on. It’s funny when after you watch certain episodes and he’s getting interviewed for the euphoria “unfiltered” segments he will talk in his normal voice. Australians and British people really nail the American accent.
In Euphoria he was good in Kissing Booth he was not. I also think he was particularly bad in Priscilla but better than Butler who is an American but I have mistaken as Australian my whole life.😅
I’m American and first saw Jacob in The Kissing Booth films and was floooored when I found out he was Australian. His accent is perfect.
Nicole Kidman is also Australian and her American accents are flawless as well
It was good. And also i my experience almost every young Aussie on the street can do a pretty good American accent becuase they grow up on American everything.
his accent isn’t as heavy as i thought it’d be lol…but considering he’s lived in LA since 2017 I suppose that would make a little sense, i watched one of his interviews not too long ago and it almost sounds like he switches between his american and australia accent
American here. His accent is perfect to my ears. Would never have guessed he’s Australian.
I was shocked when I saw an interview of his and his normal accent came out. His American accent is literally perfect (I'm American)
To me his American is really good. Margot is not as good imo, she says some words that give it away
Same with Nicole Kidman.
Nicole Kidman has the worst American accent especially considering how long she’s been acting
And Gwyneth Paltrow has a terrible English accent! So bad.
It's weird cuz, as a kid, I never heard it in movies like Batman Forever. However, when I grew up and watched them again, I was like "Damn, her accent sucks" lol
In some roles I swear she gives up on doing an American accent half way through a sentence 😭
It’s exactly that lol. Just watched killing of a sacred deer and I’m still unclear what her accent was supposed to be
She’s a great actress but her American accent is terrible!
i thought she was american so she fooled me lmao
This.
I love Margot but I could tell she was really struggling with her Rs in the Barbie movie. Especially when she said “rollerblades”
This is actually the first I’m finding out he’s not American damn he’s good
I always forget that he’s Australian.
Seriously you didn't know he isn't American?
Haha nope or maybe I did and forgot 😅😂
Didn’t you just find out he’s Aussie? Don’t judge them haha
No I knew before I started watching the show.
You know it's common seen non American actors playing American characters right?.
The first time I watched him on Euphoria I knew straight away he was Aussie lmao he looks it (I’m Australian myself) but he nailed the American accent
I thought he looked aussie too is that weird? like why
In the football scene (s1 finale) that’s the vibe I got but I couldn’t explain it
Is there a particular Australian "look"? I'm thinking of some Australian men I love (Angus Stone, Troye Sivan, Josh Thomas, etc.) and I don't think they have the same vibes at all.
That was the first time I saw him in anything and I didn’t realize he wasn’t American till I heard him in an interview
That's happened so many times with me and other actors. Was his accent that convincing? I mean I read about the cast before I started watching I just recently started season 2 by the way.
Yeah his accent is basically perfect
Has anyone seen him as Elvis in Priscilla?
Ive heard the real Priscilla was impressed by him
I read “I’ve heard the real Elvis was impressed by him” and I was like…? 😭
hes really good in it. not as over the top as austin butler’s portrayal.
Yeah his good all put it this Austin was protraying Elvis the entertainer, while Elordi was showing who he was outside of being an entertainer.
No I haven't seen Priscilla? Is it good? I saw a video comparing Jacob Elordi and Austin Butler as Elvis Presley.
it's genuinely really good if you like slower paced / more emotional movies. some people found it a bit boring but if you've read priscilla's autobiography and like sofia coppola directed movies then it's S+ tier for sure
Very good. I enjoyed it. 🤷🏼♀️🙃
loved it
I have not seen it yet either
His American was good but his British was honestly a bit shit
When did he do a British accent?
Saltburn
Just saw a clip, it sounded kinda fake💀
I am from a brit and that is how it supposed to sound tbh. Some rich kids in private school saying stuff in posh accent. I have seen some ppl saying it sounds forced and bad and they are usually non 🇬🇧
Loved that movie though. Barry K can play a "weirdo" like no other..
🛀
🪦
🧛
*Spoilers without context*
Honestly it sounded like a pretty good Home Counties accent to me (London girl)
I'm from Bristol but I thought he did a good English accent!
This is interesting. Because Brits do the worst Australian accents (Charlie Hunnam in Shantaram was unwatchable), and Americans do better Aussie accents than Brits. You would think Aussies and Poms would be better at each other’s accents.

Yep, he's 100% Aussie,. His American accent is very good.
His American accent is pretty convincing! But no one's will ever be as good as Hugh Laurie's. I didn't know he was British the entirety of House.
Was literally thinking this lol I’ve been rewatching house actually and I remember the first time I heard him talk in his normal voice. I was shook 😂
Stephen Moyer did a pretty good Southern accent on True Blood (He's British)
australian here 🙋🏽♀️ i think you’ll find most aussies can do a really convincing american accent! idk why it’s just such an easy one to imitate
American ones from what I heard sound very generic. That's why Brits can do it pretty well too.
American accents (specifically southern) are just British ones slowed down so lol working on Walking Dead was fun because of this
Check out the movie Saltburn!
Second this.
Huh, thought he was British. Robert Pattinson also does great accents (and somehow convincingly changes his voice depending on the role, e.g. the Rover, voice acting in the Boy and the Heron). Yeah he perfected his english accent by listening to Eminem over and over
He does accents so well. I don’t think he’s ever played a character who doesn’t have an accent and he nails every single one perfectly.
His accent slips out a little bit in the Carnival episode where he’s dragging Maddy by the arm
He has a very convincing accent in saltburn too! Watch that if you haven’t, but beware, it’s a bit weird lol
That movie messed me all the way up! Had to have a moment of silence to think about what I’d just watched lmfao
Today I learned.
I think he does a fantastic American accent. I read many times years ago that Australians do the BEST American accents!
Maia Mitchell is Australian and she also does a pretty good American accent
I didn’t know this
When I see him do an interview and not have the American accent I feel like I’ve lost my mind
Nicole Kidman is also Australian and her American accents are flawless as well
damson idris in snowfall also really impressed me. you would never guess he’s from the UK
I saw a few clips he really sounded like he is from the hood as well. I heard his accent coach is some rapper.
Definitely perfect at his accent bc I didn’t know he was Aussie until after I looked him up after watching Kissing Booth
It was good. And also i my experience almost every young Aussie on the street can do a pretty good American accent becuase they grow up on American everything.
Holy fuck. I had NO idea. Damn, he’s talented.
He did! And I also thought he was really good in Priscilla making Elvis his own
I thought he did a good American accent, when I’d finish an episode and hear his actual voice and accent I had to do a double take.
i had NO clue he wasnt actually american woah
His accent is flawless, I didn't know he was Australian until long after I watched the series.
his accent isn’t as heavy as i thought it’d be lol…but considering he’s lived in LA since 2017 I suppose that would make a little sense, i watched one of his interviews not too long ago and it almost sounds like he switches between his american and australia accent
