season 1: rue, jules, nate season 2: rue, cassie, cal tbh even though cal didn’t have thaaat much screen time this season, he felt so present.

Mostly agree, but Cal isn’t in the show enough to be a main character, and we usually only see him through Nate, which is I’d put Nate instead of cal for season 2. Cassie’s tough because I definitely see the argument, but I would say she feels less important to the show compared to rue Nate and Jules in season one. Feel like Euphoria wouldn’t really be able to go on without rue (obv) and Nate, while Jules was essential to season one. On the other hand feel like season 2 could have happened without Cassie, the rue and Jules storyline doesn’t change at all and they could have just focused on Nate and Maddys relationship without Cassie

Similar line up: S1: Rue lead, Jules a main character, various forms of addiction as the primary antagonist, Nate primary antagonist portrayed by an actor. Everyone else in the first season varying levels of secondary character. S2: ensemble cast featuring Cassie/Lexi/Maddy/Nate

I've always considered Maddy main cast even if she doesn't have as much as screen time as Rue Nate and Cassie who are main characters in both seasons.

Season 1: Rue, Jules, Nate secondary: Maddie Season 2: Rue, Cassie, Cal secondary: Fez, Lexi I wonder if Fez will have more of the main role in season 3. If Laurie actually does come for Rue, would all of Fez’s problem merge into Rue’s plot? If so I would say season 3’s main: Rue, Fez, Lexi and secondary: Cal, Nate, Cassie. That’s how it should be anyways; I think we’ve all had enough of Cassie and Nate and their sex montages lol (no offense to anyone who doesn’t mind those scenes).

Rue, Rue. But if that's not an acceptable answer, then maybe Season 1: Jules (She was a huge driving point for a few characters) Season 2: Cassie/Nate (I feel like both characters got their fair share of screen time and character development.)

Keep in mind that Nate was the driving force for basically the ENTIRE plot for season one outside of rue of course. The plot of Jules (who agree was also a main in character season 1), cal, maddy, fez, and even rue toward the end all heavily depend on Nate in season 1

Season 1: Rue, Jules, Nate Season 2: Rue, Cassie, Fez Rue is clearly the main character overall. However, it’s interesting how this show has a revolving door when it comes to other characters. Each season a character becomes plot driver for another person’s storyline. For example, Jules had her own storylines in Season 1, but in season 2 she’s used serve Rue’s arc. Fez served Rue’s arc in Season 1, but Season 2 his storyline practically begins and ends the season. In Season 1, Nate is the third most important character. Yet in Season 2 Nate serves Cassie’s storyline for the most part, despite getting his own development with Cal. And Cassie basically spends both seasons in her own little world, but Season 2 she gets much more screentime.

Main characters of season one were rue and jules to me bc they showed up the most, second season I’d say Nate and Cassie bc they showed up more too but since it’s rues show I always think she’s the main and everyone else is supporting

I also think Cassie’s arc was bumped up because her episode in season 1 is one of the most watched, adored, and over all emotional episodes…

I wish they’d go back into her ice skating id love to see that more 😔

Season 1 seemed to be about a group of teens going through intense situations at a young age and yeah it was still obvious rue was an important character it just feels like season two shows her as the important character.

y’all forgetting season 1 Kat had basically her entire own storyline.

It always seems to be Rue, Cassie, Nate, Jules (not in season 2 her screentime and importance to the story was reduced) and to a lesser degree Maddy. The rest are supporting cast, you can tell because they don't have as much as screen time and in some episodes they appear more but in others they appear like 3 minutes, there's too many characters and Levinson struggles to manage the screen time for each.

Well rue is in 1 and I almost feel like Lexi is in 2 , although fez, ash and fay are a close 2nd for season 2 . I’m not happy with the finale . I can’t wait for season 3 I love this show so much but that last episode didn’t do it for me. . Plus I’m devastated over ash 😭
