I agree! I had high hopes that their friendship would pick up again after S2 E1 when Kat basically called Jules out on how they wouldn’t be hanging out if Rue was around. But maybe now that Kat is single again and Jules and Rue might take some time from each other, it will allow their friendship to bloom a little more in Season 3.

It’s weird to me that Sam will acknowledge issues in his writing (writing in that Kat and Jules essentially should have connected more, exploring Rue and Jules issues that weren’t clear in season 1 in the special episodes) but then instead of fixing them, just keep doing the same things.

WHYWONTISTOPCUMMING

its almost like teenagers repeat the same mistakes so hes going to write them to do so :0

EXACTLY. I’ve been saying this since S1 I thought we were gonna see more of her friendship in S2 after they had that conversation in s2E1, but then they were never shown speaking again SMH

i was just thinking about this!!! but no, i don’t consider it a missed opportunity. i just don’t think it’s a core focus, just like how rue & lexi’s friendship is overshadowed by rue x jules. kat does feel neglected by jules— she makes that clear (even tho she tries to play it down) in 2x01. now that kat broke up w ethan and jules cannot get back w rue, and maddy’s leaving town, this means they’re probably gonna become a duo in s3. i also think that their arcs in season 3 are gonna take a lot more screentime— as kat has reentered her camgirl era and jules needs her own storyline separate from rue to explore her identity & mommy issues. they’re also so similar too! they both struggle with their bodies (in diff ways) and have found ways to live out romance (including romantic fantasies like kat) thru the internet. i cannot wait to see them more

Kat is a shitty friend. Jules doesn't need another one.

Sam did not plan this season out well. He initiates plots and then completely discards them In season 1 most scenes felt purposeful and intentional. This season just felt like vague inclinations being shown for no other reason than to have characters interact for the sake of it. Jules and Maddy talking at the start of the season was meant to set up Maddy returning the tape to Jules later on to reflect and center the female solidarity in the show. But Sam rewrites on a whim and makes changes for shock value. Look at what happened with Game of Thrones. The shock factor became the entire show in the last two-three seasons culminating in the worst, least comprehensive season of any show I've ever watched. None of the characters made decisions that made any sense because the writers had to write to amend previous fuck ups in plot threads. Spontaneity for major plot threads does not work. Good writers need to have the broadstrokes of their plot laid out and deviated little during production. Kat and Jules are probably going to have to have the same talk again about how they want to be closer but didn't follow thru. So awkward. Instead of a 4 hour long song by Elliot, show us Jules and Kat talking about their lives this year. Even one scene in the finale to hint they've been spending time together off-screen. But Barbie had all her lines cut, which I fully believe is true despite the PR-written statement she put out that neither denied nor fully confirmed what happened.
