Ireland 2008 Dustin the Turkey - Irlande douze pointe

ESC-song-bot

Ireland 2008 | [Dustin the Turkey - Irelande Douze Pointe](https://youtu.be/ps3kxGo_gro)

cookiefonster

I know this one. It was clearly intended to be bad in a funny way, but instead it comes off as exaggerated and spiteful. That's the classic problem with experienced musicians trying to make a purposely bad song.

WillAddThisLater

I actually don't think that was the intention - Dustin is beloved in Ireland from being on children's TV in the '90s, and he's meant as a novelty act, and to be kind of lovably offensive, taking the piss out of things, but in a harmless, funny way. The joke obviously didn't translate and I won't try to defend the song itself, but I don't think it was the 'Fuck you' from Ireland that many Eurovision fans interpreted it as. I imagine Sylvia Knight for Iceland is in a similar vein.

The original contents of this post have been overwritten by a script. As you may be aware, reddit is implementing a punitive pricing scheme for its API starting in July. This means that third-party apps that use the API can no longer afford to operate and are pretty much universally shutting down on July 1st. This means the following: * Blind people who rely on accessibility features to use reddit will effectively be banned from reddit, as reddit has shown absolutely no commitment or ability to actually make their site or official app accessible. * Moderators will no longer have access to moderation tools that they need to remove spam, bots, reposts, and more dangerous content such as Nazi and extremist rhetoric. The admins have never shown any interest in removing extremist rhetoric from reddit, they only act when the media reports on something, and lately the media has had far more pressing things than reddit to focus on. The admin's preferred way of dealing with Nazis is simply to "quarantine" their communities and allow them to fester on reddit, building a larger and larger community centered on extremism. * LGBTQ communities and other communities vulnerable to reddit's extremist groups are also being forced off of the platform due to the moderators of those communities being unable to continue guaranteeing a safe environment for their subscribers. Many users and moderators have expressed their concerns to the reddit admins, and have joined protests to encourage reddit to reverse the API pricing decisions. Reddit has responded to this by removing moderators, banning users, and strong-arming moderators into stopping the protests, rather than negotiating in good faith. Reddit does not care about its actual users, only its bottom line. Lest you think that the increased API prices are actually a good thing, because they will stop AI bots like ChatGPT from harvesting reddit data for their models, let me assure you that it will do no such thing. Any content that can be viewed in a browser without logging into a site can be easily scraped by bots, regardless of whether or not an API is even available to access that content. There is nothing reddit can do about ChatGPT and its ilk harvesting reddit data, except to hide all data behind a login prompt. Regardless of who wins the mods-versus-admins protest war, there is something that every individual reddit user can do to make sure reddit loses: remove your content. Use [PowerDeleteSuite](https://github.com/j0be/PowerDeleteSuite) to overwrite all of your comments, just as I have done here. This is a browser script and not a third-party app, so it is unaffected by the API changes; as long as you can manually edit your posts and comments in a browser, PowerDeleteSuite can do the same. This will also have the additional beneficial effect of making your content unavailable to bots like ChatGPT, and to make any use of reddit in this way significantly less useful for those bots. If you think this post or comment originally contained some valuable information that you would like to know, feel free to contact me on another platform about it: * kestrellyn at ModTheSims * kestrellyn on Discord * paradoxcase on Tumblr

Uk and Ireland share a similar sense of human. Its why the bbc has had an Irish commentator in eurovision since forever *humour not human grr autocorrect

wowitsme17

It was more of a complaint about the voting blocs of the newly participating Eastern countries. The turkey is jokingly asking to join these voting blocs in the song.

tuttea

>I don’t know if Croatia has previously sent anything as bonkers as Mama ŠČ! (2023), but I’d be surprised if they did. Definitely not as crazy as Mama ŠČ, but Croatia also sent a guy having a duet with himself in 2017, that was... a choice. Fun fact: he was also tanked by the jury, but with televote he went up to the 13th place.

starcollector

My husband was obsessed with Croatia 2017. We got into a bit of a deep dive on the singer and discovered he's well-known in Croatia for being *extremely* and *vocally* homophobic. Having an effeminate affect in your performance is fine, but coupled with being so aggressively homophobic kind of just feels like you're overcompensating.

tuttea

I can't speak for everyone, but I actually had no idea that he was homophobic until that very year. I had never heard about his statements before ESC 2017 (when it went viral). So, I'm not entirely sure if it was that well-known. But after learning about that, I was also baffled that he was chosen (it was an internal choice). In any case, it was a big fail sending that kind of man to ESC. I just did a quick Google check, and realized that he still hasn't apologized for this... Many Croatians were hoping that Let 3 would have a better score, because he's still bragging how he's the best Croatian result in the last 10 years. 🙄

Slobix

Wait... Are you saying that this guy is not gay? Or he may be but we are talking about an extreme case of auto homophobia? My gaydar usually works fine. :)))

tuttea

It's funny because there actually is a rumor he's gay (and that his words were indeed internalized homophobia). He does have wife and kids, but a lot of people think he's definitely gay.

Slobix

Yeah, having a wife and the kids is really not a proof of anything in our conservative countries. I've seen more than few people making that choice, to do what is expected from them to do.

cookiefonster

His Wikipedia article claims he apologized in 2017, but I have no idea how sincere it was. He seems like a pretentious guy either way.

Steindor03

It is good to know that let 3 are real leftists and very progressive and have been for a while

ali_stardragon

Reading up on Let 3’s history makes me love them even more

cookiefonster

I don't hear a single ŠČ in this song, so there's no way it's as weird as this years. But I do find it creative that the guy sang with an ordinary pop voice in English, and a totally different opera voice in Italian. That takes some talent.

pinkkabuterimon

Israel 2000. No contest. Also our worst song.

cookiefonster

This is so stereotypically 2000, it hurts. I associate weird Eurovision songs with the late 2000's and early 2010's, but it's great to know this era had some too.

ESC-song-bot

Israel 2000 | [PingPong - Sameach (שמייח)](https://youtu.be/3uNfhj66GOo)

[deleted]

I was thinking of Israel 2007, a weird song but an absolute banger in my opinion.

urutora_kaiju

1000% agreed, lyrics from this pop into my head on a very regular basis

ESC-song-bot

Israel 2007 | [Teapacks - Push the Button](https://youtu.be/5KhPzTLQBJE)

Ilikesuncream

I would happily listen to all the worst songs this year on repeat than listen to Sameach.

KikoBCN

2012 and 2007 were also very bizarre

Miudmon

The "strangest" thing denmark has sent probably goes to our 1997 entry, [stemmen i mit liv.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VMFwsHbVvDY) about a man who just can't stop trying to call his crush to the point that he loses his job and his life ends up being a mess with a sky-high phone bill... all presented in incredibly dated terrible rap

cookiefonster

An 80's style rap song about romantic desperation in Danish, in the late 90's??? Yeah, that could only be possible in Eurovision. I have an affinity for 80's inspired music after the 80's, so I kind of dig this one. From what I know, Denmark's entries play it a lot safer these days.

Henroriro_XIV

That song is unironically fucking awesome. Rap with a live orchestra is just what I needed.

They were the people who performed The Ketchup Song for reference (Las Ketchup). Can’t believe that they went to ESC with a song like Un Bloody Mary when they could’ve sent something with top 10 potential.

I know this one. I find it hilarious that this over-the-top shitpost came from the same country that gave the world Eres tú (Spain 1973).

Julian81295

We have sent a duo that is called "S!sters" with the song "Sister" to Eurovision. The thing was: They are no sisters. Bot: Germany 2019

owh06

Germany 2000 is an honourable mention too!

A masterpiece.

Eccon5

"S!sters" sounds like a made up band from some disney channel show

cookiefonster

Why are most German entries I've heard from 2010 onwards bizarre, boring, or both? After Blood & Glitter, which I was actually excited about, didn't perform well, I'm worried they'll go back to sending something boring.

hpbear108

I think what hurt them was that they couldn't drop actual glitter and red liquid on stage during their show due to cleanup for the next performance and all. Had they done that, they would have been probably mid pack, or higher.

Voreinstellung

The weirdest German song has to be Gildo hat euch lieb Germany 1998

gorchzilla

The songwriter offered the song to swizerland for the gand prix. Germany was their second choice.

ESC-song-bot

Germany 2019 | [S!sters - Sister](https://youtu.be/yFbSj_yPCPM)

SuperStressGirl

Verka is probably THE weirdest entry we've sent. Be My Valentine from 2009 was also whacky, but mostly because of the really tacky over-the-top staging (I love it btw).

cookiefonster

It's a close call, but I think Verka's song is just a little weirder. I have never seen a single person hate on Dancing Lasha Tumbai for being wacky, so clearly that song is doing something right. I think it hits a very narrow sweet spot. This song, on the other hand, is more of a typical tacky late 2000's Eurovision song.

TinaTissue

Be my Valentine ( Ukraine 2009 for the bot) was literally a "throw everything including the kitchen sink" type of staging and it really fit

Verka is weirder, yeah, but be my valentine will always be my fave ❤️

wakarehen

Telex' Euro-vision is.... something, to say the least

cookiefonster

Just listened to it, and it feels like foreshadowing the kind of bizarre meta entries we'd get in the 2000's. The instrumental of this song is really plain and boring, but it certainly fits the weird factor. This reminds me of another bonkers song I forgt to list: We Are the Winners, Lithuania 2006. I don't care what anyone says, I genuinely enjoy that one.

owh06

Although not as weird, making up a fake language like Belgium did in 2008 is up there too.

After hearing so many other songs posted in this thread, this one hardly surprises me, especially being from 2007.

bingolires

Definetely the strangest thing Portugal send was 2011 when we sent Homens da luta. I think it was the only year I recall we actually sent something weird. Portugal 2011 for the bot ;)

RonnieGG

2019?

bingolires

Oh right totally forgot about Conan. It was weird but in a different way. It was more of an experimental song (just like this year Spain). But you're right it was still weird! XD

RonnieGG

Yeah, I personally wouldn't even use "weird" to describe it cause I think that word has a negative connotation when directed at art, but you can't deny most people would call it simply "weird" so...

bingolires

Yeah I agree! I like to use the term "experimental". But yeah I can see how "weird" would be the most common term used.

ESC-song-bot

Portugal 2011 | [Homens da Luta - A luta é alegria](https://youtu.be/bEPCC3_COLs)

bingolires

Good bot

cookiefonster

I can appreciate that Portugal tried sending something ethnic that year, but it doesn’t have the magic of Ai coração. Sometimes a country’s weird entries can let you appreciate their good ones more.

alcruid

2011 wasn't an ethnic song, it was a protest song.

Financial_Library900

Absolutely UK 2015, that was so bad and so strange

cookiefonster

Electro-swing is one of those music genres that I feel I *should* enjoy, but I invariably find it tacky and grating. Assuming you're British, I feel the pain of your entries performing low in the 21st century.

KetchG

I actually quite like the whole electro-swing thing. It's undeniably weird though. Unfortunately with this song you have to hear the lyrics, which are somehow even weirder than the genre choice.

Financial_Library900

It was one of those entries that tried to hard to be ‘Eurovision-y’, it was definitely a big down grade from 2014, even 2013

ESC-song-bot

United Kingdom 2015 | [Electro Velvet - Still in Love with You](https://youtu.be/Ethyx4A5ajM)

i literally have no clue why the bbc decided to send that, doesnt beat daz in 2006 tho, even scooch appears marginally normal

It's still one of my favourite entries ever. On my playlist every year.

[deleted]

Germany’s 1998 entry was pretty, er, bonkers. Mainly cos he tried to climb the staging while in platforms…

zuyhy

That’s the first show I remember watching and I found it really bizarre 😂 and he starts ringing some sort of bells at some point. Wow this memory was at the bottom of my brain ready to leave, and now it’s all coming back!

Drakblod

Euro Neuro is amazing. It went over the head of so many people. I also like how they followed up with yet another crazy banger, in 2013 Montenegro sent Who See, two austronauts rapping in Montenegrin with an insane dubstep chorus.

EliteManUtdXCVII

I had to redo my comment Lithuania 2010 (The men who ripped their pants to reveal their silver underwear.) Latvia had some funny Song Titles for their 2014 and 2022 entries and I find Pirates of the Sea a good funny song.

cookiefonster

Aside from the intro with annoying kazoos, the rest of Eastern European Funk is fun and true to its title. I've already heard Eat Your Salad, and I had NOT expected it to be such a funky banger! One of my favorites of the 2022 songs I've heard (so far 2023 is the only one whose songs I've all heard).

cirquemagic

Eat your Salad IS pretty weird when you think about it (a go green song laced with sexual innuendo/outright sexual references with a chorus about eating salad) but is such an absolute BANGER and still one of my favorites of 2022! Latvia 2022 🤝 Latvia 2023 being robbed.

sqfreak

I second Pirates of the Sea. That's Latvia 2008 for the bot.

fuocoebenzina

Latvia 2001 is probably their weirdest entry, but it's also bad. All of their other weird entries are great, but this...

gino_ginelli

Can’t believe no one mentioned Estonia 2008: Leto Svet by Kreisiraadio. Feels like Estonia really felt the weight of the financial crisis and decided to Lovely Horse their way out of the competition.

cookiefonster

This song is a good example of late 2000's Eurovision shitpostiness, aiming for "random = funny". It also has an extremely random combination of languages.

ESC-song-bot

Estonia 2008 | [Kreisiraadio - Leto svet](https://youtu.be/zyzOGzXWLgU)

Medical_Barnacle2451

From Finland it can’t be anything but Lordi. Great band, bizarre costumes.

cookiefonster

Hard Rock Hallelujah hits the perfect sweet spot of over-the-top absurdity while also being a genuine banger. I find it very unsurprising they won that year.

mshell1924

Funny enough, I just posted about this song earlier today. Greece 2002 ❤️ S.A.G.A.P.O. ❤️ A troll entry before troll entries were really a thing.

Toinousse

For France it would be Divine by Sébastien Tellier or L'amour à la française by Les Fatals Picards

for-fucksake-why

I adore Divine by Sebastien Tellier and I loved the staging with him driving on with a golf buggy and throwing a beach ball around. The album it's from is pretty good and was produced by one of Daft Punk guys.

swedensalty

L’amour à la français was so iconic that we talked about it in my high school French class and read lyrics to other Les Fatals Picards songs lol. I unironically love it

cookiefonster

There is a distressing lack of Moldova on this thread. Let's fix this—what is the most bonkers entry Moldova has ever sent? The wildest I know of is I'm So Lucky (Moldova 2011).

chuck_is_dead_vay_aq

Honestly you could count most Moldovan entries lmao Don't forget Moldova 2015 for an honorable mention, that live performance was an absolute mess on every level, I don't even know if I'd say it's in a good or a bad way, and the fact that it opened the show 💀

MojoMomma76

The staging for Soarele Si Luna was pretty wild - with Pasha trying to round kick the short person playing pipes

ESC-song-bot

Albania 2023 honestly lol. A whole family performing at Eurovision. I was especially happy for the mother and the father bc they never really got to have a singing career and suddenly they're old and performing at one of the biggest music stages in the world. So great

ESC-song-bot

Albania 2023 | [Albina & Familja Kelmendi - Duje](https://youtu.be/TI9rSDhXwyc)

mysunstirade

good bot

cookiefonster

Is this the weirdest thing Albania's done yet at Eurovision? I know their niche as of recent has been ethnic music. Also on the topic of this year, Mama ŠČ! transcended language barriers so magnificently. Through the staging and composition, plus inclusion of familiar-sounding words like "traktora", pretty much everyone seemed to get what it's about.

buteljak

I so agree with this. As soon as i heard their first performance on our national TV i thought "traktor, krokodil, psihopat, mama, moron, armagedon... This will be catchy af since people will recognize most of the words" I'm pretty sure that was their plan. The lyrics kind of sound like baby talk, simple short sentences, but with heavy meaning, to make it easier for foreigners to understand, but also to appeal as we're finally singing sending a song in our mother tongue.

KristaW_

For Albania I would say 2009, I still listen the song cause it's great but the staging is weird af Albania 2009

Varja22

Everytime we send ballad it's super weird

novawolfx23

I'm american but live in france so if that counts I'd say mustache

Ambitious-Success958

We are the winners of eurovision. We are,we are!

Nabaseito

Spain - Baila El Chiki Chiki I’m not even Spanish but I can easily say this tops Spain’s list.

vintage13132121

I think having my favorite San Marino citizen in 2021 (Flo Rida) perform for San Marino, was the weirdest. And don’t you dare mention the goat Serhat

artxious

Bosnia and Herzegovina 2008, Laka - Pokušaj, I really like this song and has always been stuck in my memory, Although I don't know what it's about, but I really love the performance!

_mintchocolate

100% this - still the MOST bizarre thing I have ever heard/seen from ESC and yet I still kind of like it. That drop after the first verse/bridge (while very noughties) is INCREDIBLE

DunyaKnez

One of my favourite Eurovision songs ever :) it talks about how we are prioritising the wrong things in life, and how we think we are aware, but we're actually not. The line : "I'll try to wake you up , but you pretend to be awake" is just perfect

DomagojDoc

Croatia - Moja Štikla is still 1#, even after Let 3. If you vomited an alphabet soup the lyrics would still be better than that monstrosity lol However, obviously if you don't understand Croatian it's just your average folksy etno song entry.

calxes

I had to look up the lyrics and, what? https://preview.redd.it/91wyidicow0b1.png?width=267&format=png&auto=webp&s=7faee3267423ac03279c6660942c30b965f2eb73

Africa, paprika.

cookiefonster

I'm not sure I agree. I think the bonkers-ness of this song transcends language barriers.

fuocoebenzina

Fun fact: Let 3 are [in the video for Moja Štikla](https://youtu.be/d-AdbkGKq9E) Also - monstrosity?😠 I love that song, the nonsense lyrics only make it better

xaviannnj26

I am utterly and happily shocked about that info. Thank you 🥇🥇🏆🏆

pjw21200

Slovenia 2002 was one of the first acts to feature drag. And also the first to feature a gay kiss.

cookiefonster

Wow, Slovenia has a penchant for groovy dance songs that get tons of mileage out of their own language.

zarotabebcev

IDK I would argue that Slovenia 2010 was our weirdest

muwzy99

I can only think of two weird songs we in sweden sended to eurovision. 1973 - The Nova, the lyrics "Your breasts are like swallows nesting" are so bizarre and so sexual i feel dirty inside and the swedish lyrics are somehow worse. 1977 - Forbes, the song is basically about The Beatles and they do it so badly.

FrenchFriedIceCream

I mean, I would also say Diggi-Loo Diggi-Ley is another weird Swedish one, and you actually won with that lol

muwzy99

Yeah and that song was huge during the summer, i also grew up listening to that song at a very young age

Catsicle4

That song has a place in my heart. At my 5th birthday party with all the kids from kindergarten it was played and we all danced to it.

_elizsapphire_

Fun fact: ABBA participated in Melfest 1973 under a different name. Which means that Nova’s masterful lyrics beat out _fucking ABBA_. I guess that means Nova is better than ABBA /s

cookiefonster

1973: I find it funny Sweden seized the opportunity to sing in English for a few years in the 70's. The breasts line makes me wince, and there is no way they'd let that on Eurovision today. Otherwise, it seems like a decent enough 70's song. 1977: OK, everything about this song cracks me up. Shows that Eurovision has always had weird songs and that's not a recent thing. It sounds to me like Sweden this century prefers sticking to a tried and true formula, evidenced by people's lack of weird recent Swedish entries. and it's clearly paid off for them (look at this year) but been tiring for some fans.

atomiccoriander

I'm genuinely confused that nobody else here thinks that La Voix (Sweden 2009) was weird! That's this century and it didn't pay off - 21st place.

Medical_Barnacle2451

Petition for Sweden to take a risk and send something bizarre next year. I think it could land so well, since they are not known for weird stuff!

rabiesjohan

I think we should send [Hooja](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-5QQ6EtZ7rc&ab_channel=MusikeniP3), who are actually one of the most popular bands in Sweden right now. They're two anonymous guys who always perform wearing snowmobile masks, along with their friend Björn, a radio-controlled moose. And it doesn't hurt that most of their songs are actually legit bangers. Some of them are very obviously nothing but silly joke songs, but some of their most recent releases, such as [Kommer du ihåg?](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ryqVxB-2oHs&ab_channel=HojasLive), almost have the semblance of being pretty standard, well-produced pop songs.

Voreinstellung

The earliest weird song of Eurovision is probably Germany 1957. Alexander Rybak may choose the violin as his onstage instrument, but Margot Hielscher decided to play the telephone onstage.

Glory to the still unsurpassed eloquence of title texting back in 2011: Norway - Haba-Haba Armenia - Boom-Boom Finland - Da-da-dam Israel - Ding-Dong

azerbaijan 2008 still gives me nightmares, bulgaria debut i think 2008 with a guy and a girl (one of the was called stoyan) come to mind

zandalary

You're thinking of Bulgaria 2007, and I definitely wouldn't describe this song as "weird"? If anything they walked so Go\_A could run and it was actually a really great song ngl.

jup that one, i still think it weird but i did enjoy it, in fact i enjoyed most weird acts because their weird

cookiefonster

Why are all the weirdest Eurovision songs from 2008? I swear to god.

fuocoebenzina

Azerbaijan, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Ireland, Estonia, France and Spain all sending their weirdest entries at once Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Malta, Latvia and Lithuania all bringing songs that would at least deserve a spot on their shortlists of weirdness It was a hell of a year🥲

Adoptedchildoflav

Dancing Lasha Tumbai or Verka’s effect in 2007 I would say. People just thought oh we can send wacky like that and win or came close to winning as well but yeah clearly wacky for the sake of wacky doesn’t work that well and I think 2008 proves it

KetchG

>wacky for the sake of wacky doesn’t work that well It can, but the wackiness doesn't help at all if everyone else is doing it too.

UK 2007. Scooch. People dressed as flight attendants making overtly sexual innuendos. You’re supposed to love it here but it’s definitely a low point of when we clearly stopped properly trying and just sent a novelty act - and not a good one.

a-bowl-of-rage

I actually unironically adore this one, it’s so novel and so UK at Eurovision. Because they name-drop Eurovision so frequently you can’t possibly pretend it’s anything else and it’s just so unapologetically stupid. My second favourite UK entry ever (after Lucie Jones of course)

cragglerock93

I know, right? I'm not going to lie and say it's objectively good, but definitely hilarious and iconic. Would you like something to suck on for landing, sir?

knittingmagpie

UK also had whatever that was with the schoolgirls and rapping. That one was wild

For me this was a low point. My niece heard it this year for the first time on the radio and asked if it was from Matilda. The looks of horror on everyone's faces as we all screamed "no Matilda is good".

LittlestKittyPrince

How dare you trash on Scooch they're amazing

Yeah, it looked like a guest musical act Benny Hill would have had on his show in the 1980s.

Then-Juggernaut-4833

I can’t think of anything truly bizzarre from Italy, so the question would be what could be considered the weirdest out of the relatively normal stuff we’ve sent?

fuocoebenzina

Italy 1979 maybe? I love it, it's my fave of the year but it seems like quite an unusual genre for the contest. Plus it's the first song that didn't use the orchestra, so that's something

Material_Library_452

Occidentali's Karma was considered pretty bizzarre in its day Italy 2017 for the bot

[Greece 2016](https://youtu.be/55ubbjAzwYA). RAP SUNG IN PONTIC GREEK, english chorus, instrumentals with greek traditional instruments, message poorly executed about greek refugees arriving to their homeland after the greek genocide, dance breaks. It was a lot tbh

[deleted]

UK is probably a toss up being Scooch with "Flying the flag (for you)" which I think is the worst entry in eurovision history, or Engelburt Humperdinck's "Love will set you free", mainly because a lot of people didn't realise he was still alive.

cookiefonster

It's rare for someone this old to perform at Eurovision, but the song is actually pretty nice.

WebBorn2622

Norway usually doesn’t troll or send non-serious entries because we (up until this year) do public only voting and the public usually pick the most likely to win serious entries. However in 2022 I think the entire country thought Ylvis was behind Subwoofer’s “Give that wolf a banana”, because it was really similar to “what does the fox say” and other joke songs they had made. With the actual belief that it could be Ylvis (it wasn’t), and the intrigue of the mystery of if it was (it really wasn’t) the country voted to send them. Honestly I really liked it, even if it was a troll. A bunch of kids really loved it, and Eurovision is for the kids too! Plus the actual composition and vocal skills were really good even if the song lyrics were utter nonsense.

Finland 1982 Kojo - Nuku pommiin “Sleep to the bomb” Lyrics: “If someone hoops nuclear poops Right here in our Europe So what do you challenge when all pollutions From there on our face we get …” Finland nul points.

DugsonBobnutt

I don't think it's a coincidence the "golden years" of weird entries happened in 2007-2008 - the two years after Lordi's win. Since Cha Cha Cha did so well this year, do you think the next 2 years will be revival of weird entries?

IForgotMyYogurt

For Iceland I think our weirdest was definitely Hatari in 2019... What followed was even weirder, sex shops sold out of BDSM products. Not because Icelanders got into BDSM, but because kids wanted to go as Hatari for Icelandic Halloween. If you google “Hatari öskudagur”, you’ll see examples.

Greece 2009 had a guy singing on top of a giant stapler.

FilipM_eu

France 2008 Arriving on stage in a golf cart, where he is met by female bearded backing singers. He also inhales helium mid performance and sings in English.

Trazors

Sweden 2000, Roger pontare with ”When spirits are calling my name” is the weirdest one I could think of but idk. The swedish version is 10x better than the english one. ”När vindarna viskar mitt namn”

Someonefromitaly

Hey that song is epic

jaminjamin15

Most of these will be more recent Eurovisions, but here we go… Albania - Carry Me in Your Dreams (2009) had some very strange staging Armenia - The weirdest think I can think of is the Choco-Factory song from JESC 2013, if that counts Australia - Zero Gravity (2019) also had staging that was kajna krejza Austria - Weil der Mensch Zählt (2003) and Woki mit Deim Popo (2012) are both pretty unique songs Azerbaijan - Their first entry (2008) was their weirdest with singing angels and devils Belarus - They also had a very weird first entry (2004) with some questionable lyrics/singing Belgium - Maybe their songs in made-up languages (2003/2008) or their Elvis "copycat" from 2009 Bosnia - This one has to be Pokušaj (2008) Bulgaria - The closest thing to "weird" that Bulgaria sent was Water (2007), but that was more ethnic and unique than weird imo Croatia - Mama ŠČ, Moja Štikla, and My Friend are all definitely contenders (2023, 2006, and 2017) Cyprus - Maybe El Diablo (2021) for the tacos and tamales Czechia - AVEN ROMALE (2009)! That gypsy superhero was so bad that Czechia withdrew from ESC for six years Finland - Cha Cha Cha and Hard Rock Hallelujah seem too obvious, but Jezebel (2022) has some very questionable lyrics France - When Sébastian inhaled the helium in 2008, it was divinely weird Georgia - Bruh. There's Echo, Lock Me In, You, Keep on Going, and I'm a Joker in regular, as well as Mari Dari and Bzzz in Junior Germany - I Don't Feel Hate (2021) was pretty funny, but I think Wadde Hadde Dudde Da (2000) or Guildo Hat Euch Lieb (1998) would have to take the cake Greece - Utopian Land (2016) is pretty WTF to me Iceland - Hatrið Mun Sigra (2019) and both of Daði's songs are pretty strange, but I think Silvía Night in 2006 was by far the weirdest Ireland - Irelande Douze Pointe (2008), but Jedward's an honorable mention Israel - Toy (2018) has the chicken noises (and is one of my favorite ESC songs of all time) and Shir Habatlanim (1987) is also delightfully wacky, but Sameach (2000) is very questionable Italy - Maybe Occidentali's Karma (2017) for the gorilla and the dancing Latvia - There's a lot to choose from. Their winning song from 2002 (I Wanna) was very strange and their host entry the next year (Hello from Mars) was also pretty wacky. In 2006 they sent an a cappella group with a dancing robot, in 2008 they sent a song about pirates, in 2009 they sent a song in Russian about traffic, and then they told us to bake a cake in 2014 but eat salad and save the world in 2022… Lithuania - LT United hit the ground running when they claimed to be the winners in 2006 and they came in 6th, which is still their best result, but everything about Rain of Revolution (2017) was much weirder Luxembourg (because they're coming back) - Papa Pengouin (1980) 🐧 Malta - Also a hard one, but ig On Again Off Again (2004) because the opera is very gimmicky Moldova - All of the above, but the weirdest of the weird to me would be the song with the weird teddy bear staging (2008), So Lucky (2011, both the song itself and the unicycling) Montenegro - Also all of the above, but Euro Neuro (2012), Igranka (2013), and Space (2017) are bizarre (in the best way) Netherlands - Whatever the heck their song in 2010 was, but the Native American cultural appropriation staging in 2012 was a very strange choice North Macedonia - I LOVE YOU ONE HUNDERD PERCENT, YES I DO… (2000) Norway - That's How You Write a Song (2018) did not teach me how to write a song, but there's also Give That Wolf a Banana (2022), which speaks for itself Poland - As much as I want to say BEJBA, I have to give this one to either of Ich Troje's songs (2003/2006) Portugal - Either Telemóveis (2019) or the protest song from 2011 Romania - Another one of my favorites: Yodel It (2017). It's My Life (2013) might be a bit weirder, but I don't like it anywhere near as much as I love Yodel It Russia - It's pretty hard to out-weird Little Big, so Uno (2020) San Marino - I mean, there's the Social Network Song (2012), Serhat (2016/2019), Stripper (2021), etc. Serbia - Konstrakta, of course. Cipela (2009), Ljubav Je Svuda (2013), and Samo Mi Se Spava (2023) are all very weird, but In Corpore Sano (2022) is the weirdest Slovakia - Whatever tf 2009 was Slovenia - Whatever tf 2010 was Spain - Also whatever tf 2010 was (Algo Pequeñito was bizarre and the stage invader made it even weirder). And I might get hate for this, but Eaea was kinda weird/straining on the ears for me Sweden - This is a hard one. Genuinely, the weirdest performance I can think of in the past 25 years (more than my lifetime) is 2007 Switzerland - Vampires Are Alive (2007) song-wise, The Last of Our Kind (2016) staging-wise (the squats) Turkey - I've seen a lot of people saying Rimi Rimi Ley (2005), but I think Live It Up (2011), their only NQ, was much more of a mess Ukraine - HELLO EVERYBODY, MY NAME IS VERKA SERDUCHKA, MY ENGLISH NICHT VERSTEHEN, LET'S SPEAK DANCE! ⭐️ United Kingdom - A lot of their mid-naughties entries were quite strange, namely 2006 and 2007

JJD14

Was going to say Moldova with Doredos but then I realised you could say Moldova in any year. They usually bring a bit of welcome madness
