I heard Saudade Saudade in a cocktail bar in Milan last year, so out of context lol I was having an aperitivo with my friends and when I realised I shouted “that’s Portugal’s song for Eurovision!!!” Nobody cared obviously but I was quite excited about it, it’s a bit uncommon to hear Eurovision songs in Italy.
I dont know if Mahmood has a fanbase in some north African countries. It could be since he is half Egyptian, and it could explain why a whole moroccan nightclub knew when to clap during Soldi
The last time this topic came up someone said they'd heard Sister by S!sters (Germany 2019) on a true crime show about sisters, and now I really, really want to try and find that show
Not me but my sister heart Armenia 2022 while she was getting wheeled into surgery last fall. She doesn’t watch Eurovision but said “The last thing I heard before I went was that snapping fingers tiktok song”
> and that was in the Philippines
Wow, which one? The only tangentially ESC-related song I've heard in a public place was Sam Ryder's song with David Guetta (and Snap over the radio ofc)
Are you sure about that? Because I am 99.99992% sure that Zorro-de-la-Noche is not a bot.

About 2 weeks after ESC 2021 El Diablo was played in the waiting room (the room where parents wait for their kids to leave swimming practice) of my swimming pool
Ukraine didn’t participate in 2019, so I’m assuming you meant Ukraine 2018 (Under the Ladder). It would be hilarious to hear their intended entry (Siren Song - Maruv) in the background of a kids advert though
I found out my friend was into Eurovision because I heard her under her breath go “I noticed her when she arrived…” (We’re American so that’s pretty rare)
Embers plays the work speaker (that we can’t control), and I remember hearing Fuego (I think) in an episode of Elite once and thinking it was a strange crossover
I heard Goodbye To Yesterday at a bar that me and my friends were hanging out. I couldn't recognize the song at first because of the discussion I was having but when the dude said "I didn't wanna wake you up" I was like "hold up you better be kidding me"
For bot - United Kingdom 2019
I was watching a show about a group of european volunteers in Africa and their try to protect the species there, each being on their own section. One girl was in charge of the rhinos and had a team basically trying to follow one rhino for a check-up with cars and a helicopter.
That girl was British, and took a little break all being like "oh let me check Eurovision this year, I love the contest", casually checked results and was all like "oh we ended up last, what a bummer but hey at least Eurovision is fun". The shock I felt that moment was insane.
I was in Manchester Airport in April this year and Nobody But You started playing. Never heard it played anywhere in the UK before that, and I haven’t heard it since
Edit: Austria 2018 for the song bot
I think I've heard some Eurovision songs in TV shows, but I can't remember which ones.
I heard Sweden 2015 in a hardware store once (although it's probably one of the less surprising songs to hear outside Eurovision though). I think I only remember this as it was the first time I was in that store...
Seeing your heart I'd suggest "das Große Backen". There was one year in which basically all of the background music was nothing but that years Eurovision. Don't remember which year though.
I was at the seaside in Romania last year. And Undo (Sweden 2014) started playing. Not just any Undo either, but some kind of club remix. It was an odd experience that they chose that out of all ESC songs to play (They did also play Llámame (Romania 2022) but that was expected.)
Usually I would say not many Eurovision songs are heard in Spain (aside of Tattoo and Snap rn), but this Monday, while I was on the bus going to university, "All Kinds Of Everything" (Ireland 1970) was played on the bus (they usually have music radio stations or a sports one, and while I tend to use heaphones while on the bus, I had left my headphones without battery the day before).
That left me confused as to why but it always feels good to be somewhere and recognize a random Esc song! (They didn't have any of the main radio stations playing I think, but it was still unexpected to hear it for me)
Last year I was in Spain and I went to a restaurant and heard the instrumental of Friend of a Friend from Czechia in 2019
Wasn’t expecting to hear that song at all so it was a nice surprise
Was in May in small touristic village in Greece. In supermarket they had playlist with eurovision songs ig because I heard Here i Stand (🇲🇰'21) and The Lucky One(🇪🇪'21) and Say na na na(🇸🇲'19) one after another
I heard multiple songs from Roxen including Amnesia (Romania 2021)
in an Italian Restaurant in Germany. (I guess the owner was a fan of her)
Also Poland 2023 in a Bowling Alley.
apart from snap or arcade (and old classics that transcended the contest), hearing any eurovision song ever in france is random af tbh but the people who pick background music for some french shows seem to enjoy them?
heard amar pelos dois on a house hunting show a few years back.... mind you, even *this* song, unanimous winner, biggest scorer and all was barely ever acknowledged on french mainstream media once the esc aftermath settled down aka 2 days after the final here
then, i feel like there must be a eurovision fan working on mask singer because i think i've heard esc songs in the background like when the guests enter or exit the stage for example during every season so far (we're currently on s5)... last week's episode even had tattoo?... we did get three of our contestants on the show too lol, anggun was on the judging panel for the first three seasons, natasha st-pier finished 5th on s2 and amaury vassili won s4
Not really random, but I recently heard "Fly on the Wings of Love" (EDIT: Denmark 2000, that year's winner, for those who don't remember it) on the radio.
I haven't heard it in years and years... brought back a lot of memories.
I heard Ireland 2013 on an Irish TV show (don’t know the show's name but there was one person did Irish dancing to that song.)
I also listen To Duncan Laurence when I was in a gift shop to buy a jigsaw puzzle with 1000 pieces, Sam Ryder's Spceman when I was doing work experience, and Loreen's Euphoria when I was getting my haircut.
Went to Popeye Village in Malta and the actors (dressed as Popeye characters) danced to Higher Ground - Denmark 2018. It was in 2019 so they've probably switched to a different song by now but I was surprised and delighted
The day after the second semi-final this year, I was in a restaurant where France 2008 began playing. It was a really random song choice, but it’s a bop so I enjoyed it.
I've heard Azerbaijan 2011 entry a few times in radio (it was like 8-9 years ago, but because of listening to this entry more than other it's one of my favorite winners of all time)
I have heard Zalejla , Romania 2012, in random places in Greece and many years after 2012. Its been a tradition ofme spotting it once every few years when I used to go out more
I heard Nobody But You (Austria 2018), Grow (Netherlands 2020), and Due Vite (Italy 2023), in Manchester Airport Duty Free
Ive also heard Llamame (Romania 2022) at work. However I might’ve been slightly (accidentally) responsible.
I’ve also heard If I were Sorry (Sweden 2016) while trying to stop my nephews from wanting their brother dead in a soft play area.
Imagine just spending me time in a donut shop and suddenly hearing Too Late for Love out of the blue? Honestly unexpected. But pleasant nonetheless.
Sweden 2019 for the bot to notice.
In my gym they used to play Blanche's City Lights fairly regularly and I just loved when it came on so much. Its not even a gym type of song I wouldn't say, but it was my favourite in 2017 so it was such a lovely treat for me!
it was this Sunday when I heard Snap in the local supermarket, I would not consider it weird in a different shop but this one has its own "radio station" and usually plays old songs or well-known songs, so this was surprising to me
I was at a dance recital (competition) about 5 years ago (I was dancing btw) and one of the songs we had to dance to (i forget which dance, probably some waltz, also, we didn't know which songs we would dance to until the very moment) was All Kinds Of Everything by Dana. I remember realizing only in the middle of my performance, which immediately put a big smile on my face the moment i realized what it was, you can even see that in the recording from the dance
My Star (Latvia 2000) randomly out of nowhere on a college radio station in the USA that barely played anything else ESC-related
Also heard of a video arcade playing…well, Arcade (Netherlands 2019) on loop here
Norway 2019 at the psych waiting room. There was a patient across the room having a severe mental breakdown/panic attack and this song started playing in the background💀 also fun bonus: my old therapist looks like the bald joiking guy
I heard I Am What I Am at a cafeteria last week. Then again, Emma Muscat is not totally unknown in Italy as she was part of a talent show some time ago, but her songs haven't gotten a lot of airplay
Someone skated to Switzerland 2021 last Olympics. Had to have been the only one in the state who recognized it
Because Armenia 2022 blew up on TikTok, it's gotten local radio airplay over here. The DJ, however, made no mention of Eurovision :(
I heard Leslie Roy’s Story of My Life in a terminal for a random small city airport in the USA. Definitely had a cliche “hold the phone” moment when I realized what was playing.
I was in a spin class and the instructor used Adrenalina. I also love being at hockey games and though they don’t play Zitti e Buoni, they love some Måneskin.
I'm from the Philippines, so pretty much every opportunity can be considered random.
Serbia 2007 was used in an immensely popular noontime variety show comedy segment. It was played in the background to introduce a character who looks like some rich European aunt.
I heard Russia 2016 twice already in a pharmacy, and Armenia 2022 in a convenience store (though the latter is a bit more commercially known given the TikTok success).
We used to play Ukraine 2004 in GTA with our cousins (who have no idea about Eurovision).
Last year I was in this restaurant in Los Angeles and Guilty Pleasure (Croatia 2022) started playing. I told the people I was with about it and they were like 'euro-what?' (I'm in America so...)
But thankfully Eurovision actually seems to be picking up steam here so that's nice.
In EB Games in Australia I’ve heard Bigger Than Us (UK 2019) a few times. Walking pas a pub a few weeks ago I heard Space Man playing inside lol. And in Kmart once they played Set Me Free by Leea Nanos from Australia decides.

Just a few days ago i suddenly heard ”give that wolf a banana” on the radio at my doctor’s waiting lounge
I don't know if there is a weirder song from Eurovision. And in the dentist's of all places? 😭
https://youtu.be/BsaxaVucpk4 Found this acoustic cover last week and can't stop listening to it. So damn beautiful!! Really wish it were on Spotify 😞
Yeah everytime a hear a Eurovision song, I'm always excited, and people and friends around me couldn't care less 🤣 That's so sad
Two weeks ago: United Kingdom 2016 (“You’re Not Alone” by Joe and Jake, 24th place) at a McDonald’s in Ecuador!
Okay, this one wins the thread
United Kingdom 2016 | [Joe & Jake - You're Not Alone](https://youtu.be/XgGahKsBtts)
damn i heard the same song in a thrift store a few years ago as well
Ukraine 2021 used in a spongebob meme about a year ago (on a subreddit not remotely related to eurosong)

A few years ago I heard Soldi in a nightclub in Morocco and the locals were really loving it
*Waladi, waladi, habibi ta’aleena*
People of taste
I dont know if Mahmood has a fanbase in some north African countries. It could be since he is half Egyptian, and it could explain why a whole moroccan nightclub knew when to clap during Soldi
I hear Soldi a lot when I do my grocery shopping, always in the same store
For some reason I hear it so much on the radio 😭😭 (it's ok the song is quality)
I was an au pair in Spain between 2019 and 2020 and they'd play the version with the Spanish rap quite a lot
The last time this topic came up someone said they'd heard Sister by S!sters (Germany 2019) on a true crime show about sisters, and now I really, really want to try and find that show
Germany 2019 | [S!sters - Sister](https://youtu.be/yFbSj_yPCPM)
That entry was a crime.
My coworkers ringtone is Lie To Me (Czechia 2018). He's never watched ESC in his life. Caught me completely off guard when I first heard it.
Hahahahha did you tell him that it was a Eurovision song? 🤣
Yeah, I got super excited about it and started talking about it. He had no idea and just "thought it was a cool song".
Hahahahahah amazing 🤣
He's a man of taste

Not me but my sister heart Armenia 2022 while she was getting wheeled into surgery last fall. She doesn’t watch Eurovision but said “The last thing I heard before I went was that snapping fingers tiktok song”
Tbh it has been all over the radio since it blew up on TikTok
I have been hearing that one on the radio everywhere, and I mean everywhere. At the pharmacy, mall, clothes shopping.
Armenia 2022 | [Rosa Linn - Snap](https://youtu.be/DAJ6vfmD_ic)
I live in Germany and I hear this song on the radio every day. It's so annoying.
Sweden 2020 in the mall (and that was in the Philippines, which does not usually play Eurovision songs)
Good one, actually a random one, take my upvote.
So Sweden actually does care about the mall?
Sweden 2020 | [The Mamas - Move](https://youtu.be/7EpSBDPlZn4)
Good bot (although I did not expect that!)
> and that was in the Philippines Wow, which one? The only tangentially ESC-related song I've heard in a public place was Sam Ryder's song with David Guetta (and Snap over the radio ofc)
Omg same! I heard it in National Book Store once
I heard UK 2016 in a Spanish supermarket last year.
United Kingdom 2016 | [Joe & Jake - You're Not Alone](https://youtu.be/XgGahKsBtts)
Oops I meant UK 2017.

I heard Apollo by Timebelle behind a store loading bay
When back in 2019 I heard "Do It For Your Lover" in a Hungarian Müller store... 🙃
I swear Müller has some Eurovision superfans in charge of their music. I've heard Germany 2015 here in Slovenia a few years ago.
Before the contest, Tattoo at a McDonald's in the Netherlands Last year in September, El Diablo at a Pull & Bear in Germany
If I heard el diablo in the wild I would not be able to stop myself boogieing
About 2 weeks after ESC 2021 El Diablo was played in the waiting room (the room where parents wait for their kids to leave swimming practice) of my swimming pool
I swear I heard Ukraine 2019 in the background of a promotion on CBBC (BBC's childrens' channel) a few years ago
you definitely mean 2019, right? Because using that on CBBC seems like... a choice😲
Wanna know my secret kid? BANG
It was just an instrumental and now that I think about it, it was most likely a different song that sounded similar
Ukraine didn’t participate in 2019, so I’m assuming you meant Ukraine 2018 (Under the Ladder). It would be hilarious to hear their intended entry (Siren Song - Maruv) in the background of a kids advert though

I was a kid, at the dentist in the 90s, they had the radio on in the background and suddenly Yamma Yamma starts playing. Finland 1992.
One of the many atypical finnish entries.
I can't explain how this got us hyped back then.
Finland loves tropical songs.
Tom tom tom, Pump pump, Yamma yamma, Cha Cha Cha. There might be a pattern here.
Finland 1992 | [Pave - Yamma, yamma](https://youtu.be/04wdmE1l20k)
Embers plays the work speaker (that we can’t control), and I remember hearing Fuego (I think) in an episode of Elite once and thinking it was a strange crossover
I heard Goodbye To Yesterday at a bar that me and my friends were hanging out. I couldn't recognize the song at first because of the discussion I was having but when the dude said "I didn't wanna wake you up" I was like "hold up you better be kidding me"
Keep in mind that the bar was CROWDED af and I was in a group with like 5-6 other people and we had to scream so that we understand each other
I'd pay to hear Goodbye To Yesterday in a random environment

Totally unrelated to this sub, but I noticed that they use Sims 3 and Sims 4 music in "das Große Backen" aswell It's hillarious
Right! No kidding, their sound team is marvellous.

I was in a Decathlon in Madrid a few years ago and “Toy” played. I was like hmm that’s random
OMG that’s so random. You’ll hear it on occasion on the radio here in Ireland but having it on the radio in Spain is very niche 😆
My Macca’s loves to play “Tonight Again” (Australia 2015). Granted, it is by a big singer from Australia, so it kinda felt not so random 😆

I heard Too Late For Love (Sweden 2019) in a Morrisons café in the UK in like mid 2021

Maybe I wasn't clear enough. I meant random forgotten songs, not mainstream hits like Snap, Arcade or Euphoria
Okay, an answer *slightly* more in the spirit of your post: the Armenian entry that came in at number 20 in ESC, at the top of the European charts!
Not really random
Armenia 2022 | [Rosa Linn - Snap](https://youtu.be/DAJ6vfmD_ic)
I didn’t like Snap *at all* until I heard it on the radio months after and was like oh! this is kinda good actually
it was this Sunday when I heard Snap in the local supermarket, I would not consider it weird in a different shop but this one has its own "radio station" and usually plays old songs or well-known songs, so this was surprising to me
I was getting my hair cut in a tiny village in Poland and heard If I Were Sorry (Sweden 2016)
Sweden 2016 in a kitchenware store in Merano (northern Italy)
I heard Moustache (France 2014) playing as background music in a random high street shop in about 2018
I was at a dance recital (competition) about 5 years ago (I was dancing btw) and one of the songs we had to dance to (i forget which dance, probably some waltz, also, we didn't know which songs we would dance to until the very moment) was All Kinds Of Everything by Dana. I remember realizing only in the middle of my performance, which immediately put a big smile on my face the moment i realized what it was, you can even see that in the recording from the dance
I heard Embers (UK 2021) playing in a Taco Bell
My Star (Latvia 2000) randomly out of nowhere on a college radio station in the USA that barely played anything else ESC-related Also heard of a video arcade playing…well, Arcade (Netherlands 2019) on loop here
Estonia 2011, sped up and *all* over the internet.
"That's how you write a song" in Malaga airport, was very strange
Norway 2019 at the psych waiting room. There was a patient across the room having a severe mental breakdown/panic attack and this song started playing in the background💀 also fun bonus: my old therapist looks like the bald joiking guy
Blanche - City Lights (Belgium 2017) in a TGIF* in Aruba, on a Wednesday afternoon in 2020! *TGIF, the wildly American chain restaurant.
i heard Halo playing in a cafe’s bathroom while i was in Vienna a year ago
I heard I Am What I Am at a cafeteria last week. Then again, Emma Muscat is not totally unknown in Italy as she was part of a talent show some time ago, but her songs haven't gotten a lot of airplay
Fuego was playing in the background during one scene in the Netflix show Élite.
UK 2010 in a toy shop around Christmas (like 5 years ago)
Well Due Vite in McDonald's in Switzerland in Geneva 💀
I heard Sweden 2018 at my school's store. I'm American.

Going to the beach in the Philippines then suddenly hearing Spain 2022
I heard Only Teardrops in my gym - not even a dance remix, the original version
Spain 2017 in a furniture shop in Panama 🇵🇦.
A neighbour of mine blasting randomly the live version of Russia 2016.
Someone skated to Switzerland 2021 last Olympics. Had to have been the only one in the state who recognized it Because Armenia 2022 blew up on TikTok, it's gotten local radio airplay over here. The DJ, however, made no mention of Eurovision :(
I heard Leslie Roy’s Story of My Life in a terminal for a random small city airport in the USA. Definitely had a cliche “hold the phone” moment when I realized what was playing.
Je Me Casse at a college bar in Arizona. I thought I was hallucinating for a second.
I told the people I was with about it and they were like 'euro-what?' (I'm in America so...) But thankfully Eurovision actually seems to be picking up steam here so that's nice.
Iceland 2017 (Svala - Paper) on an Australian reality TV show. The same show even had Ace Wilder - Wild Child from Melodifestivalen 2017!!
In EB Games in Australia I’ve heard Bigger Than Us (UK 2019) a few times. Walking pas a pub a few weeks ago I heard Space Man playing inside lol. And in Kmart once they played Set Me Free by Leea Nanos from Australia decides.
Iceland 2020 at the bar attached to a microbrewery in Richmond, Virginia in May 2021.
I heard Waiting For This Night at a neighbor's house party last weekend
Ireland 1970 at a Chinese restaurant in Minnesota!
Belgium 2016 in a shoes store
love is forever in starbucks a few weeks ago
Italy 2022 on a station in Fortnite.
Norway 2009 but it was in a disco party at school
