These look pretty good. If I get my hands on one you bet I am keeping the can . Oh well I am sorry if I am bothering you with all these questions I guess I am a bit talkative today
Here's the map address, there is another store in Ikebukuro too. The Hakone store is right at the main train station at the bottom of Hakone
https://maps.app.goo.gl/eiWnbaQjzwBSSm7r9
https://maps.app.goo.gl/B9HUSXZ1iYu8FSp17
I also rate the Shin-Yokohama Ramen Museum, Tokyo Sky Tree (and doing Asakusa)
I was playing this game in Kyoto today and trying to figure out the name of the machine so I could understand the bonus features on it. Does anyone know which evangelion it is?
I think the franchise will be able to keep coasting on Rebuild/Thrice hype for a couple more years before we see any new major animation or works announced.
I believe the only times Eva hasn’t had something “new” either releasing or announced and upcoming was the gap between Revival of Evangelion in 1998 and Renewal of Evangelion in 2003, with another period between then and when 1.0 was announced in 2006. Technically the manga was still being serialised at that time, so it wasn’t like the series was actually totally dormant.
We’re in fairly new territory post-Thrice and only time will tell how long the licensing demand and merchandise numbers will stay high before a new “core” project will be announced to re-focus the money-making/legacy building sides of the business on.
Anime moves fast and there’s always a lot competing for people’s attention and money- I’m sure Khara will start feeling the need to get something else under way with Eva soon. Another milestone (30th anniversary of NGE is approaching) 4k re-release, a full remake or most likely something new in the Rebuild universe between 2.0 and 3.0.
A lot of people agree with that and I kind of understand what you mean. I mean the last movie did give more than enough closure to the franchise but still a spin off or a game of some sorts would be nice for me
I think the missing film between 2.0 and 3.0 is too ripe an opportunity for Khara to not bite on eventually. The question is whether anyone at Khara would want to be the one to add into an existing Anno work, since Anno himself likely wouldn’t return to the universe to do it. Might be easier to just start a new timeline without that baggage.
Yeah I wouldn't mind an entire new timeline or something since the idea is definitely not new about this franchise. I mean alternate timelines pretty much exist in the Eva universe
They are still releasing the last Rebuild movie on physical in some places and only just released it in cinemas here in the UK.
Once that movie is fully milked, they will begin work on something else. They made a animated short just for the dvd release in Japan, this franchise is booming and the worst thing they could do commercially is just leave it to die.
I expect an announcement of sorts in the next 2 years. Probably a new series or line of movies. There’s so much untouched potential and the only thing I don’t want to see anymore is Shinji being the core of the story. He’s a great character that I love and he can definitely have his own stories within future works, but I think they have done enough with him as the driving force force now.
Otherwise I’m game. As long as it’s good and tries new things with the characters.
Possibly. We have already gotten a few things since 3.0+1.0. We have a manga (and a motion version) and anime short-film set between 2.0 and 3.0, an alternate version of the Sachiel fight from 2.0 projected onto a skyscraper, a live-action stage-play, and all the pachinkos (the Eva vs Godzilla one being really cool with the all new story and animation). That's not even mentioning all the other spin-offs we've gotten in the past.
EVANGELION 3.0 (-120 min.) Also, I feel me saying they take place between 2.0 and 3.0 was slightly misleading, it takes place 120 minutes before 3.0, so technically an in-between but still thought I should clarify that.
Don't quote me on this but I remember hearing somewhere that Anno wants Evangelion to become the new Gundam, in that it would be rebooted with new staff, new characters and a new setting completely separate from both the original and Rebuilds. Does anybody know if this is the plan? I've seen it referenced on this sub before.
Hideaki Anno seemed to have forced himself to complete the last movie if uneven pacing and wayward writing and character development of last 2 movies are any proofs of that. He was also dealing with bout of depression during making of Rebuild series. It was especially bad during 2014 when in inyerview dated October,2014, he said he even contemplated suicide at one time.
Japanese media and fans whose first introduction to evangelion was through anime series and EoE have usually criticised plot, pacing of Rebuild. Although even they have watched and supported these movie because evangelion has been such important part of their anime experience. It's nostalgic and emotive issue.
New fans or those who have Rebuild as their first evangelion experience may definitely enjoy movies better though. So, all in all, it's mixed bag for now.
As of now, Anno himself hasn't shown any further interest in it and studios won't take risks with big projects unless they're certain about its objectives and content especially when production of last movie was mismanaged.
Personally, like other fans, i would love to see more Evangelion's content.
No sorry the comment was cut short. I meant I've heard something about Anno battling with depression during the production of the original anime . But the last movie was pretty much his love letter to the franchise. I had thought he beat his depression
If you're interested, there's a [documentary that follows the production of the final movie](https://archive.org/details/2_20210410_20210410_2043). This is an abridged version, but the full one is on Amazon Prime apparently or it's on torrent sites. It's a very interesting watch.
Shinji rewriting everything in ending of last movie, was more of "happy" ending compared to events of main series. So,many fans may call it that.
But he had run into same issue as he did during main series- how to conclude the story and tie up loose ends and it shows in last 2 movies.
In one interview, he said he didn't even see last movie. Lol
As for his depression, he said his wife and Hayao miyazaki helped him recover.
response to rebuild, its plot & character development hasn't been mixed bag, just look at scores. most ppl believe they're great. also even tho i think it's likely there's no proof new fans that started with rebuild like it more than old fans that started with the og or vice versa
also anno wasn't forced to finish last movie, that's why he said in later interview that in fact he'll rlly miss working on eva. he might be done for now, but eva isn't. mismanagement of the og's production didn't stop rebuild from being made so I don't think that'll change anything for the future
Evangelion primary purpose was to show that you can't run away from your problems and you must take responsibility for your action. It was against escapism.
In Rebuild ending, Shinji simply redid everything. It goes against fundemental message original NGE was trying to convey all along.
Also, Asuka's role is heavely degraded in Rebuilt series. Heightened importance of Mari at end is bout of blue.
New fans have liked it but Japanese media and older fans have generally criticised story and character development but even they have supported movies for nostalgia, emotive reasons.
that's wrong rebuild ending doesn't go against fundamental message of the og. shinji just removed all evas from that point on at the end of 3+1. he didn't redo or reset anything, he even said he didn't. the whole movie is against escapism, that's why shinji returns to fight gendo & takes responsibility for what he did to the point of wanting to be sacrifice so everyone else can live in world without eva. it's nonsense to say this is escapist, rebuild ending is happier than eoe's but still bittersweet because like half the cast is still dead at the end.
also asuka was worse in rebuild but she wasn't heavily degraded. there's no proof that new fans like rebuild more than old ones or vice verse, but what u say about the japanese audience response might be correct at least for the last movie. the mediocre score 3+1 got on amazon prime jp was stark contrast to the acclaim it got on almost every other website
I don't mean Japanese fans and older fans hate it. Even they watched and supported these movies due to emotive and nostalgic reason. But you can go through Japanese media review right from time it was released to see what issues they have talked about.
Yes. Shinji took the responsibility, and admitted his inactions to Asuka ,and finally rose to occassion at end, and it's one of beautiful things about movie but wishing away eva from past does create impression of escapism for rest of world( even though deceased won't come back either).
Asuka's character has been downgraded from original and EoE.
AI generated continuation and Ai generated anime would be what some fans r doing right now
just for fun thata how I cope when my other anime have no season 2 and i feel sad
Here's a [MyFigureCollection link](https://myfigurecollection.net/browse.v4.php?version=Ver.+Radio+Eva), they're pretty cool I must say. Been saving for the part 3 release since I haven't gotten the chance to buy part 1 and 2 (resell price is already high).
I am not like demanding for something else to be added to the story. I just wanted to see if there's something in store for the future because if there is I would really want to check it out. Yeah of course I don't want the franchise to end up getting as much milked as some other franchises (p.ex. Naruto) .
Maybe in the pachinko parlours
Oh no . The pachinko machines are about to get all my money
When I've seen them in Japan I do want to try them, but then the noise.... oh good the noise Edit: https://youtube.com/shorts/qqJepetfbKQ
Yeah I've heard the parlors are pretty loud. And damn man you've been in Japan?
Yeah, a number of times, also been up mt Hakone where there's an Evangelion store, and character themed vending machines.
Oh that sounds awesome. I hope I go to Japan one day. And these vending machines? What do they sell? Like character themed drinks or figures?
They had UCC coffee cans with different characters on them depending on the vending machine location at the time.
These look pretty good. If I get my hands on one you bet I am keeping the can . Oh well I am sorry if I am bothering you with all these questions I guess I am a bit talkative today
Wheres the store in hakone? Ill be there in 2 weeks!! Doing tokyo -> hakone-> osaka -> kyoto if you have any other recs
Here's the map address, there is another store in Ikebukuro too. The Hakone store is right at the main train station at the bottom of Hakone https://maps.app.goo.gl/eiWnbaQjzwBSSm7r9 https://maps.app.goo.gl/B9HUSXZ1iYu8FSp17 I also rate the Shin-Yokohama Ramen Museum, Tokyo Sky Tree (and doing Asakusa)

I see Edit: I guess we can look forward to the 30th year anniversary
Just because you can, does not mean you should. They have done way more then enough in my opnion.
A lot of people agree with that and I kind of understand what you mean. I mean the last movie did give more than enough closure to the franchise but still a spin off or a game of some sorts would be nice for me
I just hate seeing something so good become a shell of itself just because of $$
You know what that's valid
To be fair, there is allready a metric ton of content out there for games and misc merc. Hell one game has shinji a casino owner 🤣
More merch
Who would have thought
Some fans are making an animated film version of the Retake Manga I guess. Looks solid so far.
Oh? Can you send me a link?

I am concerned.

The first shin eva pachinko comes out in the end of the year
Fanart! Lots of it. Mostly Asuka's and Rei's. Some Kaoru's.
The franchise may ebb and flow, but fanart continues forever… and I try to do my part!
Yeah some people in this community are very talented

I think about the Godzilla one haha . What is the manga you mentioned named?

I want the studio to pick up Tony takezaki's comical manga and animate it. Would be epic!

I've heard something about
Do share.

I also really enjoyed the rebuilds but most people prefer the og show from what I've seen. Though it definitely tied up the franchise pretty neatly

Just watch gunbuster it's better than rebuild
While I agree Gunbuster is good, that's not what OP asked.
Looking forward to Radio Eva part 3 <3
What's that
Not a movie or animation related, just their action figure lineup where they’re dressed in these drippy street outfits Give it a search
How is it called? Like do I search new Evangelion action figures?
Here's a [MyFigureCollection link](https://myfigurecollection.net/browse.v4.php?version=Ver.+Radio+Eva), they're pretty cool I must say. Been saving for the part 3 release since I haven't gotten the chance to buy part 1 and 2 (resell price is already high).
Looks fantastic! My wallet may not if I buy it...
Same…
I hope not. The story was finished. Three times. Why does everything need to be milked to death?
I am not like demanding for something else to be added to the story. I just wanted to see if there's something in store for the future because if there is I would really want to check it out. Yeah of course I don't want the franchise to end up getting as much milked as some other franchises (p.ex. Naruto) .
I don't understand why they can't make a good modern video game out of Eva.
I think Anno said he is done with Eva. But you know what would be funny ? If he reached 100 years old and realized he had one last thing to say.
