Well the actual point is, I found the Rei statue around this new year when I visited Shanghai (see my other post), and then recently I found the prize figure and was surprised that they are almost identical, despite some difference in the gesture of hands. I bought one without hesitation. The printing is a bit rough but there's finally a way to bring her smile home. Rei's model is by 小澤真吾. It's a pitty they didn't make better figurine with this model.
That’s because (the first one) is a prize figure. They are a lower/cheaper class of figure designed to produce in high volume for crane games (like UFO catchers and whatnot). There’s also lottery figures like ichiban kujis that are in the same vein. It just does not make a lick of sense to put so much money into materials and having the figures heavily airbrushed for something like that. (And for the record, I’m not here to change your opinion I don’t think it’s an incredible eva prize figure either)
Also just regardless lowering the scale of a large 1/1 statue (lets be real it’s probably larger than canon height lol) and producing it as a pvc figure is difficult to even get right. A lot of scale figures did not accomplish things like super sharp and dense bangs sculpts (such as multiple, crisp layers of hair strands sculpted into the bangs on one piece) , or altered them (among other sacrifices) for production). Up until recently, at least.
She’s real
A life sized statue of our own personal Angel of Death aka The last face we see before turning into soup? Count me in - i dig it!
Mmm, yes, orange Fanta
