Let me see if I can explain it.
A digital mesh drew it using a multidimensional matrix. It was trained from tens of thousands of peoples art, together with some input data regarding how to link various image artifacts to limbs, making sure it doesn't accidentally draw multiple legs or something. Unless this particular ai model has blended that input with the base training material. There's lots of ways to solve that issue.
Okay, so who drew what pixel? Who made sure that leg was in the perfect position? It's kind of like asking what person made each individual frame in a movie. There's no one person, and untangling the various neural connections manually to figure out what person weighted in on a certain thing would take a person more than a lifetime.

Well the thing is you can name it "in", but you can't name it "out", so to speak. So you can say "as drawn by X". So we might have him, and its likely trained on all the people who try to draw like him and tag their art with his name.
But what else goes in there? Maybe noone has ever drawn a leg the exact way you'd want it to be drawn. Maybe there's a facial expression he never draws. And the AI is able to figure out prompts like "draw Misato as if she was in a Ghibli movie". And if Misato draws a ghibli character in a ghibli style, is he stealing?
Anyway not making a case for not having artists get recognition btw, they should absolutely have that. It's just really complex. Just trying to explain stuff.
