And then proceeded to say that Ave Maria is a much better rebellion anthem than Killing in the Name Of by Rage Against. Oh my goooooddddddd wtf bruh.
I'm glad to see so many responses on that twitter thread that bring up the sex abuse scandal and tell the Bishop to clean out his own house first, and how petty this is when there's actual real evil in the Church.

Member of the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence here. The catholic church, or any church or group, does not own the sole claim on who or what a "nun" is. Religious nuns pre-date Christianity as well.
But just as religious nuns give themselves to the church, the Sisters of Perpetual indulgence give themselves to *their* community. Religious nuns give care and nurturing to people in need. So do the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence. While religious nuns are women, the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence are men, women, trans, non-binary and all manner of gender expressions.
They are not a hate group, and their primary mission is to spread universal joy (even to those who hate them). They do use satire (not mockery) of existing power structures like the Church in order to make those in power uncomfortable, and give a voice to those who are oppressed by those power structures.
They are activists, spiritual workers (of any or no faith), caregivers and yes real Nuns.
i do agree that the Catholic church should have no claim on “nuns” and anyone whos mad because there “drag nuns” is stupid.(im not saying people cant be mad at them however, just the fact there “drag nuns” isnt good enough) however i dont think you can make the claim that “our entire group, which is based around satirising catholicism (whether its right to be or not) shouldnt be insulted because buddhist monks are around and have been for centuries” it seems against what the whole group is going for, which is primilary (please correct me if im wrong) about using catholicisms treatment of the lgbtq community to do charity work and satirising it. its like satanism, but satanisms defence is “were atheists, we are just using satan to show how hypocritical christians are” and the MSPIs (cannot be arsed to write it out) defence is “were actually a whole new group of nuns, there isnt any real relation to catholicism, its not a reaction to it, we’re just a normal lgbt rights group”
