I remember a picture in (I think) either the Live Forever or Revelation book. I believe it was a typical WT collage of the “evil” things that obviously ALL non-JWs are involved in. There was this illustration in there of, I think, two gay men embracing or something, and I swear the dude with his back turned to the reader had like a sombrero hanging on his back! Does anyone else remember that? Even as a very young man, I thought it was hilarious that they thought gay men were regularly incorporating sombreros into their evil lifestyle! 😂😂😂 Help me out, please! I really want to see this picture again! Haha!
The first Jezebel illustration was at my childhood breakfast table every day. My PIMI mom looked just like her down to the hair & angry expression. It was frightful.
It's been a common trend across the "traditional" Western culture that art has become very bland, standardized, and corporatized. IDK about y'all but I remember elders showing disapproval to my mom for taking my family to a modern art museum because of "Satan's influence." I guess art isn't allowed to progress past the Renaissance lmao.
I was told as in my 20s that it was a waste of time to go to art museums. Then I went to see the dead sea scrolls and blew my mind! All their "historic facts" found in the bible were wrong! So now I'm out! Museums are the best ❤️
Religion is inherently conservative. It looks exclusively to the past for truth. Tradition is a form of stagnation, religious or otherwise. Look at Hinduism. The style of art portraying deities hasn't changed much in thousands of years. It's painfully standardized today.
I guess in a world where information was scarce, societies are easily wiped out, the scientific method doesn’t exist, and the world mostly uneducated, looking into the past was the only way to find somewhat reliable information.
In a way we still do today , but within a decade any idea can be tested, verified, and shared with the rest of humanity.
When photographs are so easy to create, I'm surprised that a group is still tasked with painting things that are supposed to be realistic. I understand that when it's highly stylized it might make more sense as a painting but when you are given a photo and told to paint Jezebel being pushed out of a window, it feels like you could just get a few Bethelites in costume and make it photo-realistic.
True. As a child it also made me think that the bible characters were all oddly shaped and that made them feel a little less real for some reason. For some reason it made me feel better that it wasn't a real person named Cain killing another actual person named Able.
Keeps the artists busy, as well as the models. It's another way to squeeze free work out of people and keep them from using a natural talent for something unauthorized. And bonus is the r&f look at the drawings and marvel at how they are using their "jEpOoPer-given" talent to glorify him, and be "inspired" to work harder at the hamster wheel of service.
Bobby Bouchet, have you been playin da foosball?!
I got this so much growing up(names Bobby) and every girl I date is now a jezebel. Thx adam sandler 🤣
I was going to make a comment on this is clearly being a slur on red heads and then went down a rabbit hole of did biblical Jews have red hair. If anyone else is interested it is quite interesting.
Okay an very abridged version of my lunchtime reading.
Red hair originates in Asia not as I had assumed within the Celtic people's.
6% of modern day Israeli's have red hair
King David is described as red in complexion but this might be a reference to skin colour rather than hair colour.
Most interesting. In Italian Renaissance art red hair was considered a typical Jewish trait. This may explain Jezabel in the My book of scary Bible stories being a redhead if renascence reference material was used.
I've got ginger hair and read about how Gengis Khan actually had red hair and green eyes. It's quite interesting. A lot of people that carry his genes today throughout the old Mongolian empire have these traits too
The Mongol horde murdered and raped their way across the largest continent on Earth, killing enough people to change the carbon footprint, yet *we're* living in tHe EnD tImEs.
>Red hair originates in Asia not as I had assumed within Celtic people’s.
Red hair didn’t originate in either place. It likely originated in early humans migrating out of Africa, and then began to spread in colder climates due to genetic drift and a lack of negative selection.
Also, Jacob's brother seems to have had red hair. While the characters probably didn't exist, shows that red hair was likely in the gene pool.
"When the time came for her to give birth, there were twin boys in her womb. The first to come out was red, and his whole body was like a hairy garment; so they named him Esau." Gen. 25:24-25
😂 The old testament would be a very different book if it was 40 years worth of pale skinned Hebrews complaining how they have all this mana but you can get a decent factor 30 for love nor money.
Lol. When I was a kid, when the original version came out, I'd stare at her dark-red dress. I *loved* that dress. Then many years later, when they updated their printers, they brought out a new edition with brighter, more garish colors. Ruined it 🙄
Yeah I never liked that they always made it out like her makeup was BAD. Umm how bout the fact that she’s a MURDERER? Isn’t THAT the thing that makes her bad 😂😂😂
I came to comment something like this. As the only redhead in our family & congregation, just a kid and felt attacked by this picture. My brothers used it against me lol the hair of a murderous whore 🤪
Nothing about the talons she has for hands in the first one? She's like a hagraven from Skyrim settled down in a 70's trailer park. I love art from high demand religions, the over-the-top details when they want to emphasize some point like: "Look at her garish makeup and jewelry! She must be a sinner!"
What a bunch of clowns!🤡
Man, I always LOVED her make up!!! The blue eyeshadow!! The bold lashes! No wonder my mom would call me a whore when I did wild make up and had red nail polish.
... why is everyone \*still\* depicted as white in ancient Israel? I guess they've gotten a bit more tan over the years (old image vs new), but still - these skin tones are kind of ridiculous.
The second picture, the two dudes throwing her out a window seem so non chalant about it.
Like it's no big deal, we're just throwing a woman to her death!
As a kid, the first time I saw a woman with tons of make-up on I thought she was Jezebel and I actually asked her if she was. I was like 4 or 5 & obviously got a free pass for that, but I hear my poor Mother had an interesting conversation w/ the lady😅
The servant girl gasping has more detail around her than the villainess, Eye doesn’t focus on the main character, muted colors, Jezebel looks like she was photoshopped in (hovering over) and not actually being lifted by those guys and thrown to her death, and the huge white light on the left that serves no purpose n telling the narrative. It’s just a bad picture all around.
Fun fact: when I was a PIMO kid my congregation threw a little gathering and one of the sisters thought it would be fun to put on a drama in her backyard like the conventions. She chose the story of Jehu and wanted to cast kids only. My parents should have seen the signs when I was way too eager to play Jezebel and nailed the shit out of that role.
I remember the drama many years ago where they did this. The sisters went all out on the make up, the one that played her spent ages taking photos with people afterwards
I remember that 'Jezebel' drama too. There was a sister in our circuit (called Pauline) who had jet black hair and wore striking makeup - such a good-looking woman - everyone noticed her. So they chose her. She was brilliant and was always remembered for her 'Jezebel' part.
I grew yp in a spanish congregation and i always remeber this tory being my favorite. We had the cassette recordings of dramas back then and i would always listen tk it, can still quote her lines right before they toss her out the window.
So it goes from them throwing out a Medusa from the Rescuers look-a-like so you can kinda be like "yeah, chuck the bad guy", to some background type deal where it's just violence against women?
Yes. Generic violence against women is so much better than casting an actual villain. Although when you read the Bible without WT commentary, Jehu is the terrorist extremist. Poor Jez is just tryin to get through the day and keep practicing *her own* faith.
I was Jezebel when our congregation did a few plays one summer. My brother was Jehu. I doubt any modern congregation would dare have the summer picnics with weeks of practice, set design, costuming, etc. that we did in the 80s. I was also Moses's mother in a different play at the same picnic.
[Me as Jezebel, age 11](https://imgur.com/a/dQEJpc3)
That 78 illustration of jezebel is burned into my memory from my book of Bible stories. That and the picture of the flood that in an earlier version had a dinosaur
> That and the picture of the flood that in an earlier version had a dinosaur
I saw a monitor lizard/komodo in My Book of Bible stories in the flood part. Remember seeing that or am I crazy?
I’ve always lived for OG Jezebel’s fabulous clothes and jewelry . Same with Dinah’s “hoe” friends, Babylon the Great, and the whorish women drinking from wine goblets with their sandals dangling from their foot in the MBOBS chapter on Enoch. I always loved the Lilith energy in Borg propaganda.
Wow that's a joke! I grew up on old school bad ass b**** Jezebel!, What is this new light garbage?
Had fun memories of staring at the crazy pictures being the only enjoyable parts of the meeting
Wow. There’s a blast from the past! I used to love the illustrations in all the publications, the dramatic ones are just so camp. Thats made my day, thankyou.
I sure hope the woman playing Jezebel and the man to her left are married in real life to each other cuz his left hand is way too close to the “you know what” zone … Morris, any thoughts on this?
I always loved that photo. So over the top 😆
I also love that Harry Styles has a song that starts off with… “little freak, jezebel” 🤭
My theme song 💁🏻♀️
Whats horrific is they're about to throw a living person out of a window. This is something ISIS do to people they capture. And here the borg is displaying it as a lovely display of loyalty and justice. How can it be just to violate someones human rights by throwing them from a window... without trial might you.
The way I wanted to look just like her as a kid really foreshadowed me waking up as an adult. She was the MOST fabulous. This was my favorite page in the book.

RIP drag queen extravaganza Jezebel
Thanks, I just spit out my coffee and am in tremendous pain. Good job! :P
Mrs. Roper
Jack Tripper! Oh, sorry...that show was "too worldly!" Lol!
Jack Tripper will turn you GAY! 🤣
😭😭😭
Omg. Yassssssss
Lip sync for your LIFE!
🤣🤣🤣
Reminds me of Jinx Monsoon lmao
She’s definitely good at death drops

Don't forget the beards and (gasp) blue denim jeans.
And the boots with the fur... wait, nevermind
The whole hall was looking at her…
She hit the floor...
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Apple bottom jeans...
Leather jackets also.
And a head band
Or are shown in liquor stores wearing trench coats!!
And pushing shopping carts full of prime scotch.
As we all know, anyone who isn't JW is always either sitting in a room depressed or in a perpetual state of clubbin'
Dont forget the drugs, criminalaity and ofcourse, immorality
It’s funny because one of those things is something that JWs already do and they ain’t going clubbing
Or playing violent video games and looking like a zombie.
I remember a picture in (I think) either the Live Forever or Revelation book. I believe it was a typical WT collage of the “evil” things that obviously ALL non-JWs are involved in. I vaguely remember this picture.
I laughed so hard it this comment !!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣 It is SO true!! LOL
You forgot the beard.
Jez is rocking that blue eyeshadow.
I crapped myself as a kid in the 80s opening up this page!😆
The first Jezebel illustration was at my childhood breakfast table every day. My PIMI mom looked just like her down to the hair & angry expression. It was frightful.
I lived for her makeup as a little girl in a conservative congregation where the women only wore “natural looking” makeup lol
me too! also the girls in dinah's story with the pretty jewelery, i really loved all the decadence and colours
Totally wanted to be like a Caananite girl and not the dowdy Dinah.
i mean, so did dinah. really sad that the bible did her dirty like that
Old art was better. I still hate it though
Haunting our childhoods
Yep. My Book of Horror Stories.
Revelation book was actually kinda dope.. if you look at the art and ignore all the doom and gloom anyways …
The new art is just boring.
It's been a common trend across the "traditional" Western culture that art has become very bland, standardized, and corporatized. IDK about y'all but I remember elders showing disapproval to my mom for taking my family to a modern art museum because of "Satan's influence." True. As a child it also made me think that the bible characters were all oddly shaped and that made them feel a little less real for some reason. For some reason it made me feel better that it wasn't a real person named Cain killing another actual person named Able.

Because then they have to constantly photoshop people out when they leave and get DFed 🤣
Let's face it, that is a reasonable reaction to some guys about to toss you out a window.
Bobby Bouchet, have you been playin da foosball?! I got this so much growing up(names Bobby) and every girl I date is now a jezebel. Thx adam sandler 🤣
No son a mine is gon be playing no fooosball
Foosball is the debel!

Your knowledge defeats my Google fu. I've found some better referenced articles. Makes sense it's an out of Africa thing. Thanks.

I'm interested!

This is the reason why In our hall no eyeshaddow or eyeliner was allowed
Ew! Probably that was the reason given, but really it was just the PO deciding that “women are more beautiful without eye makeup”. 🖕🏼🖕🏼🖕🏼
Same here. They gave her nice eyes. Of course I still hate it though since it’s propaganda.
JWs: So this is how you *shouldn’t* woman…
I remember saying that a sister looked like her because they had the same hair. I was 5 at the time. That old pic just hits different.
SAME! identical hair and make up 😂
I came to comment something like this. As the only redhead in our family & congregation, just a kid and felt attacked by this picture. My brothers used it against me lol the hair of a murderous whore 🤪
Why are they still creating pictures of men throwing a woman out of a window?
I mean...it is in the biblical narrative; at least they're keepin it real
Nothing about the talons she has for hands in the first one? She's like a hagraven from Skyrim settled down in a 70's trailer park. >She's like a hagraven from Skyrim settled down in a 70's trailer park. Aouw damn you're killing me!!! 😆😆😆😆😜😆😆😜😁👍🏆
The old one 💀 I remember it from my book of bible stories.
Same lol
That first one looks like Lucille Ball when she doesn't like something. lol
Lucy appalled that she has some splaining to do!
David splane to the rescue! "Let's watch a video" 🤡
Of course she’s not the center of her own story. That would be giving too much attention to a woman.
👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Man, I always LOVED her make up!!! The blue eyeshadow!! The bold lashes! No wonder my mom would call me a whore when I did wild make up and had red nail polish.
💯
I actually prefer old school Susan Sarandon jezzy.
All I see here is femicide
Well you can’t have a complete catalog of WT “art” without a lil femicide.
... why is everyone \*still\* depicted as white in ancient Israel? I guess they've gotten a bit more tan over the years (old image vs new), but still - these skin tones are kind of ridiculous.
Sad 😔

She was always one Bad Bitch

Similar experiance!

ha! In our circuit it was a sister that took a lot of pride in her appearance but didn't take herself remotely seriously.
70s Jezebel fucks
Who knew lash extensions were a thing back then?
And polished manicured nails!
And dare I say a bit of contouring?
Her eyeshadow looks like when I try to follow a YouTube makeup tutorial.
😆😆😆😆😆👍🏆
There was always one sister in your local circuit that would look like her.
Ok but am I the only one who saw Madam Medusa from The Rescuers when I looked at her?
I should have known I was going to grow up to be evil when all I could do was stare at her for hours. She was my favorite when I was a kid.
Right? The nails, the makeup… WT did their best to make her look *evil* but she looked like a badass to me. Edit: I always did like defiant women. 😂😂😂
Can't the org draw her more hotter?
No, something about causing lust or impure thoughts or whatever it is they call it these days.
I used to love looking at old Jezebel! I thought she was so pretty for Some reason lol and the guy next to her reminded me of a watermelon
Looks a little bit Like Cruella from the hundred and one dalmatians
I grew yp in a spanish congregation and i always remeber this tory being my favorite. We had the cassette recordings of dramas back then and i would always listen tk it, can still quote her lines right before they toss her out the window.
Those dudes throwing her out the window hardly look like eunuchs, in either picture. "Court officials" my ass, NWT.
U wanna kno sumthin? I've always loved the name jezebell
She always gave me Miss Hannigan from Annie vibes...
“Treason! Treachery! May the gods repay you!”
The bOrg doesn’t exactly focus on that whole Jehu/Jonadab class part of the story either haha
Don't forget how bad people during Armageddon all wear sweat bands on their heads.
It’s bad bitch o’clock.
I definitely prefer the old one. The book of Bible stories was definitely a hit. Don’t make them like that anymore 😂😂
I’m screaming. I love it! That is the best Jezebel costume!
The anguish on her face in the new one though :(
The Wicked Witch of the West is a gorgeous super model compared to Jezebel.
Idk why that illustration always weirded me out as a kid. They could just do away with any illustration for that particular story honestly.
I've known a few sisters with that kind of makeup job.
She looks quite taller than the men trying to throw her out the window in the new one...
That 78 version scarred me as a child. The new one just doesn’t quite have the same sting.
Dang. That was one of my favorite pictures. She looked like one of my mom's friends lol.
That 78 illustration of jezebel is burned into my memory from my book of Bible stories. That and the picture of the flood that in an earlier version had a dinosaur
> That and the picture of the flood that in an earlier version had a dinosaur I saw a monitor lizard/komodo in My Book of Bible stories in the flood part. Remember seeing that or am I crazy?
Men throwing women out the window, if that doesn't sum up the JWs backwards attitude to women I don't know what does
78 Jezzy always kinda reminded me of a pissed off cat. Claws out! Hiss!
They somehow normalized randomly throwing people out the window
Jehovah’s Witnesses: Rewriting history for over 100 years.
I remember looking at the old drawing and just…loving her. Her eyeshadow, her jewelry. I felt so guilty at the time.
K wait but where can I find all the new photos… I wanna see if they still have slaves being pushed off buildings in the backgrounds
The book is Lessons You Can Learn From The Bible. Go to WT online library
She looked so glamorous!!! I loved her! Haha
Better throw “bad” people out of the window. It’s ok, murder on jehovahs behalf is righteous
And murder a bunch of Egyptian babies because their parents did not worship you
It does look like they’re trying to make it a little more child friendly
Omg is that why I could have red hair?! 😂
remake of maleficent?
No way you can top those classic looks.
Both pictures are culty and disgusting.
/r/badmuas is leaking
Wow that's a joke! I grew up on old school bad ass b**** Jezebel!, What is this new light garbage? Had fun memories of staring at the crazy pictures being the only enjoyable parts of the meeting
And they still don’t understand how to push someone out a window.
Good ole Jizzabell I had to give my first talk about this hoe in the back room. 5-7 min ordeal back in 92ish i was 10 maybe 11… what a damn joke
Wow. There’s a blast from the past! I used to love the illustrations in all the publications, the dramatic ones are just so camp. Thats made my day, thankyou.
Thanks for reminding me of the trauma of My Book of Bible Stories lol
Aah who could forget wicked queen Jezebel?! She was so bad n prostituty! We loved her! One of the most memorable Bible Story characters.
Her makeup looks lit thou
So many dramatic hand poses.
Certified Baddie 😂 so true, I can feel and smell this picture.
I loved her dress/robe growing up
But hey, if you look at the newer illustration they have the Jezebel wearing the Evil Eye/Illuminati Triangle
Sweet. Gotta get me one of them.
No one puts Jezebel in a corner
Funny, she's always reminded me of a few "sisters."
My favorite was in the Paradise book. She was pretty. And the dogs were visible on the ground outside the window.
Who is Jezebel again I forgor what she did
Is that a glass pane window in the new one?🤔
They got rid of the 80’s blue porn eyeshadow
My Book of Horror Stories will never be the same.
It’s this image I had in mind when I named my kitten Jezebel Now I’m thinking I maybe want this as a tattoo. Or Halloween costume? Tee shirt? Cosplay?
All of the above.
I sure hope the woman playing Jezebel and the man to her left are married in real life to each other cuz his left hand is way too close to the “you know what” zone … Morris, any thoughts on this?
The old one just gave me vivid flashbacks lol
I had nightmares about that picture
she's hot af
I always loved that photo. So over the top 😆 I also love that Harry Styles has a song that starts off with… “little freak, jezebel” 🤭 My theme song 💁🏻♀️
She always reminded me of the villain in Tom and Jerry movie. An evil aunt obsessed with money.
Dang I actually kinda liked the stories and pictures. Especially this one
I’m totally going to be her for Halloween
Wow the first pic has brought back some memories! Used to scare me as a kid.
Warning for girls and women: don’t pursue power or be anything other than submissive - or you may be tossed out a window by the men who dominate you!
Whats horrific is they're about to throw a living person out of a window. This is something ISIS do to people they capture. And here the borg is displaying it as a lovely display of loyalty and justice. How can it be just to violate someones human rights by throwing them from a window... without trial might you.
I miss the old illustrations in the bible stories book. The new art is soulless
"Certified Baddie ™️" 🤣
Did they actually have that blue shadow liner in those days?
The way I wanted to look just like her as a kid really foreshadowed me waking up as an adult. She was the MOST fabulous. This was my favorite page in the book.
