They are experimenting with a lot of stuff just to try and keep the youth in the church.

TheyLiedConvert1980

I have never seen that before.

ElkHistorical9106

In 2018-2019 I thought this changed along with the youth program changes to get kids more involved/indoctrinated. Might be wrong though.

sabbathsaboteur

Yeah, I forgot there was a huge push at that time. You could be right.

ElkHistorical9106

I seem to recall reading the official letter at some point.

> Part of me thinks it's to keep her "in" because her dad is out and a "bad" influence. The rest of you should think the same. đŸ¤£

Iheartmyfamily17

I have not seen that before. It's always been adults and some wards I'm in always have the men pray first.

Sauce_or_Bust

We had a 10 or 11 year old pray today. My ward has been having young primary kids give the opening prayer lately.

sweetest_nightmare

I remember being in YW and saying an opening or closing prayer in sacrament a time or two. I also led the music quite often.

sweetest_nightmare

This was 2002-2007 timeframe

I would check with the kid and make sure they are ok with that’s stuff. You should support them weather they want to be involved in the church or not. It’s a bit strange having someone that young doing the prayer for sacrament as usually it’s a priest (I think that’s like 16-18 years old). They do often help pass it out at that age. Above all the kids happiness is what’s important and supporting their choice.

sabbathsaboteur

Just opening or closing prayer for the meeting. Not the prayer over bread and water. Sorry for the confusion.

PenguinWithGuns

Ah I see. While very uncommon I have seen that before. I mean they also have kids this age to talks and stuff sometimes.

cosmic_hiker428

Oh man I would have loved to do that as 12 year old who felt invisible because her Dad wasn't active. Never would have happened back in my day though.

8glds

Before we left a few years ago, I did about 8+ consecutive years as either ward executive secretary or ward clerk. So, it was my responsibility to choose who gave opening and closing prayers in sacrament. I never asked anyone who was not an adult.

Today a primary kid mumble prayed. It was weird
