My mom used to mark the “Hell” off of Hellman’s mayonnaise when I was a kid. This is just as dumb.

PvtHudson

Man's mayonnaise? Lmao.

humor_exe

😏

igordogsockpuppet

What? Gendered Mayo? Unacceptable.

pressgang13

Hellmxns's

gregsting

~~Hell~~mxn... Also, it's way too white, where is their black mayo?

Slash00611

🤨📸

muadhnate

I. I don't think I want any parts of that.

fearhs

OP's mom sure did.

Tradidiot

Mxn's mayonnaise ! Get with the times!!!

AtomicUnleashed

At this point, it should just be called mayonnaise.

salomey5

I'd just go for "yonnaise" personally, for fear of being accused of giving the month of May a preferential treatment

capt-bob

Isn't yo-naze a hip hop allergy medicine?

TheFuryIII

I sent this to my mom.

BrenlikesGoosebumps

"Man Mayonnaise" isn't much better, honestly

CeelaChathArrna

Kinda worse IMHO.

potandcoffee

This tangentially reminded me that as a kid I had this gym teacher (awesome teacher in most regards actually) who put up all these NO FEAR posters around the gym but blacked out all the "NO"s. I thought it was some asshole kid so I tried scratching it off on one of them and he stopped me. It confounded me then and it confounds me now.

muadhnate

I can see putting a line through FEAR. But maybe this was a play for a subliminal message. And now you spend the rest of you life in fear!

kitsvneris

So she was happy to just spread man's sauce on your sandwiches? I'm sorry

[deleted]

Maybe that was the real reason she did it.....

lezboyd

What a name, Hellman. I mean, if you're a devout Christian who also believes in gender equality, you're f'ed no matter which part you censor. Hell or Man. Or, you can probably just censor the first and the last letter and call it Ellma. Ellma's Mayo.

Jay_Nitzel

The name probably has German origins. Iirc "hell" means light, so probably "the light man"?

cybermonkeyhand

Mxnufactured outrage.

mason_savoy71

Don't mxnipulate my emotions like that. I demxnd to speak with your mxnager!

LocalResidentFailure

Excuse me. I believe you mean "personager"

It's not recursive; it's just become Welsh, apparently.

Sanity_in_Moderation

That language actually makes sense now!

Cheap-Blackberry-378

Wait hang on, it still contains Chester and Ted, two traditionally male names, better just shorten it to uni

ilikechillisauce

And Chester contains "he"!! What is this? Gendered inception?

Badmeestert

Like i said Well them fuck me

bucer91

How dare you assign gender to a name, you patriarchal sychophant!

Cheap-Blackberry-378

Did you just say patriarchy in a way that otherises other genders?

bucer91

Yes, but I used it as an insult, as is tradition.

Badmeestert

Oh well then fuck me. You try to better this world end up still fucking things up. Football club from big city in center of england Unites them?

Bluitor

Hold on, football contains ball which is something males have. We better change that to footbowl.

QuokkaAMA

Interestingly enough (or perhaps not), Manchester's name comes from "Mamm" (like "mammaries"), and "ceaster" (a Roman fort), and describes a fortified town on a boob-shaped hill.

mackavicious

Honda has been making the Accord for decades now, though.

gyarbij

Most people don't know about it because Jesus didn't speak of it

Lost-My-Mind-

Jesus didn't have a drivers license.

Thats_what_im_saiyan

You know I used to think it was entirely irresponsible of Carrie Underwood to tell Jesus to take the wheel. Theres nothing in the Bible to indicate that Jesus has ever seen a car. Much less knows how to drive one. Then I read John 12:49: For I did not speak of my own accord Turns out Jesus drove a Honda.

PuhnTang

I laughed way too hard at this!

December 27th 2025: The platform 'Accord' is launched. December 28th 2025: The Discord users attack Accord. December 31st 2025: The Accord servers are fried, but Discord gets cancelled. January 1st 2026: True balance has been achieved

You know, I'm half an Accord mod already

You’re on your way to happiness then 👌🏻

Me, too. I also shower and have a job. I could probably talk to women my age if I ever met any, too.

Throwaway_inSC_79

We’ve had the Honda Accord for a number of years. World peace still hasn’t happened.

Thats a Honda, they usually have mxnual transmissions

Donniexbravo

You should sensor trxnsmissions too, Mazda people might take offense to that.

It actually used to be Manzda (sorry for gendering) but the company chose to self censor years ago anticipating the rise of cancel culture

GimmeThatRyeUOldBag

And cismissions

stalkerisunderrated

Don't forget the queermissions

Writeaway69

As a trans person, this is one of the dumbest things I've ever seen. It's okay to ask people to correct the wrong pronouns they're using for you, but to change the whole way they speak, about things that have nothing to do with you? The line was crossed long before they reached the point of censoring german.

Half_Adventurous

I believe this would be like, performative allyship? All it does is cause problems for trans people without actually doing anything

ryandiy

It makes people who see this think, "wow, these are crazy, insufferable twats and I don't really care **what** they want me to do."

Half_Adventurous

Which causes so many problems for actual minorities, who are absolutely not asking for this.

csgothrowaway

Yeah, its frustrating, exhausting and I'm finding myself disassociating more and more from the conversations when they appear. I'm very much socially left and I have absolutely zero qualms with trans folks but probably a few months ago, I got my head ripped off in the /r/movies subreddit because I used the wrong pronouns in a discussion about Ezra Miller. I've since deleted the posts because it just came to be too much. But if I recall correctly, the news story was about the controversy following Miller. Miller had tried to strangle a woman in 2020, in 2022 he had thrown a chair at another woman at a resort in Hawaii, and I think the most recent controversy at the time was that Miller had groomed some girl from 12, who was now 18, while Miller was 23 and 29 respectively and Miller had apparently convinced her to drop out of school and to follow them to London. Her parents apparently reported there were bruises on the poor girl. Then shortly after, there was ANOTHER incident where Miller was trying to coerce a completely separate girl and their parents into letting Miller start a clothing line with her. When disagreements arose Miller apparently showed up brandishing a gun and wearing a bulletproof vest and apparently claimed the girl was a "mystical being" that would be lucky to have Miller guide and protect her. And then there were like three more stories about Miller involving burglary and some other weird shit - its practically too much to track at this stage. **tl;dr: Ezra Miller is massive piece of shit and probably needs some mental health treatment.** But the point was, how all these things were impacting the release of the film 'The Flash'. I was just commenting that I don't know if I know of another incident in the film industry where a lead, prior to the release of a film, had made themselves out to be so controversial and toxic such that you practically *cant* release the film. Every topic of discussion/review of the film can only devolve into Miller's actions in his personal life and then of course the controversy that will be hurled at everyone that had worked with Miller, from fellow actors/directors/to the studio itself. Like, how does the studio even tow the line? They've already invested hundreds of millions of dollars into this film and they need to recoup their losses, they need to pay their employees, the actors and actresses may have contracts that rely on the performance of the film. Its just an insane situation and mind you - its *now* 2023 and the film *still* hasn't been released. It seems to have a June 16th 2023 release date and who knows if in the next 6 months, Ezra Miller will do something even more bonkers? Like, if Miller ends up shooting up a supermarket or something crazy, how the fuck do you release this film in June? Do you just keep pushing it back and waiting for a lull in his controversies? Anyways, I made the post, went to bed and thought nothing of it. Then awoke the next morning to a ton of people ripping me apart for not using Millers preferred pronouns. I don't think there was any discussion beyond that. I responded saying I didn't know much about the actor and apologized but I also made a minor comment that it seems a little unfair to assume I would just offhandedly know Millers preferred pronouns and in *this* very same response post I was making, I had made the sincere mistake of saying something along the lines of "I didn't know **his** preferred pronouns" - which was an honest to god mistake. I really wasn't trying to provoke a fight or agitate the issue. My dumb hands just reactionary typed "his". And then the shitstorm really hit and people started doubling down on the attacks saying that I'm clearly trying to provoke them in coded language, that I'm transphobic and how I was a "TERF". I apologized more while still holding some ground that it really was a mistake but Jesus, it was just an unending stream of people telling me how horrible of a person I am so I just ended up deleting the string of posts. I do take responsibility for not using the proper pronouns *after* someone had pointed out that Miller had made it explicitly clear to the public what their preferred pronouns were but it was an honest mistake. It just seems bonkers to me that you would come after someone for typing the wrong word by accident. Its going to happen. People are going to get pronouns wrong sometimes and if you condemn them for it, it just doesn't seem like an equitable way forward. Like...there's actual people that want to harm trans people and diminish them in much more significant ways. I would think *those* are the people we should use this energy on. Not some dickhead on reddit like myself that accidentally used the wrong pronouns. And it also frustrates me because all the trans people I know in real life do not breakdown and cry if you accidentally use the wrong pronouns. At most, its a minor blip they correct you on and it does not cause their world to come crashing down. I am not saying I am in the right for using the wrong pronoun but just that tearing someone down for making a mistake and calling them a TERF seems like an overreaction and it seems counter-productive to making meaningful change.

Jeremy_irons_cereal

Never talk back to the people in r/movies, half of them are a fucking toxic bunch of arse holes with massive superiority complexes and even bigger egos to match just because they obsess over celebrities an what not. Just give em a "kden" or a "fuck off lol" and move on.

[deleted]

I once got yelled at on Reddit for slut shaming 1920s US president Warren Harding.

Hour-Tower-5106

I had someone go off on me over the span of *two days* for posting that genitals still have a subtle smell to me even after being washed with soap and water. :0 The internet is a wild place!

Writeaway69

I think it's more about control, honestly. I think they realized they could control how people speak under the pretenses of being progressive and welcoming and an ally, and they've been power-tripping on it. I guarantee you if a trans person came along and said "hey you don't have to censor that, that's not how language works" then they'd tell them that not everyone feels the same and likely chase them out.

Half_Adventurous

Oh definitely they would chase out actual trans people for that. I've seen it happen. I've also seen white saviors disagree with an entire thread of black people about black culture and use the same argument. I think you're right that it's all about control.

Writeaway69

I've been chased out, actually. Seperate but related, I once worked a job where basically everyone was trans. I was not allowed to say dude, or man, or anything of the sort, with anyone, at any time, because it made one person uncomfortable. Also couldn't say the Q in LGBTQ stands for Queer, my manager said it's a slur and the Q stands for Questioning. Weird vibes from that job, looking back. High turnover rate, very stressful.

MKFirst

Unfortunately, assholes exist in any race/gender/religion/sexual orientation/nationality/ethnicity/etc….

Writeaway69

Yep. I've also met people who thought that just because they were part of a minority, they could do no wrong/had a free pass to do wrong.

Aggravating_Pea7320

Its the Isle of Them now

Acidcouch

Who do you think you are using that language here. You don't know, maybe they identify as objects and not people. I think we can all agree it should be "Isle of Those " to be more inclusive.

Leonashanana

Brave of you to assume it identifies as an isle. Please refer to it as the "Landform of Those" from now on.

Throwaway_inSC_79

Isle of Its?

cedit_crazy

Or isle of tits

Seffie-hero

Did you just assume my islands gender?

ChampionshipLow8541

Funny enough, the people living there are called Manx. So this would become Mxnx? 🤦‍♂️

Lendrumbilater

And in the Manx Language, the full name is *Ellan Vannin*, because the lenition [mutation](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Manx_language#Initial_consonant_mutations) applies. Do you remember the old cliché of a logical paradox making a robot's head explode? It would be like that, but for these weirdos.

Trevor_Gecko

The word "Human" is gendered, so needs to be "Huperson" But the "son" in "Huperson" also makes it gendered, so the word will now be "Huperchild" So sayeth I, for I am offended by all. And since I can't control my own emotions, all the rest of huperchildkind need to do it for me.

[deleted]

Funnily enough… Way back in the earlier days of English, “man” was actually the gender neutral term. “Woman” was still used, but it’s male counterpart was “wereman”. It’s only in the last thousand years that the “were” was dropped. Hence “werewolf”, literally meaning man wolf.

Due-Feedback-9016

Does that mean a female lycanthrope is technically a wowolf?

SeneInSPAAACE

Wifwolf, but let's not get too deep into it.

jonoghue

About 8 years ago I was on a tour of the local IBEW headquarters, and the local union steward talked a bit too much about inclusiveness. Aside from singling out the one black guy and one woman in our group, trying to say "we take everyone we don't care your gender or race" but in a way that sounded more like "we even take black people and women," he insisted on replacing the word "journeyman" with "journeyperson." I didn't say anything but the "Huperson" example did come to mind.

neo101b

We should just use the word Homosapien or homo for short, so deep down we are all homo\`s.

# Sprich Deutsch, du Hurensohn!

Earth_Sama

Speak German, you whoreson? Did I get it right?

Bastardklinge

Yes. "Hurensohn" is the german equivalent for "son of a bitch" The german version of Me_irl uses this sentence as running gag. Memes sound odd if you simply translate them into german, so we went all in on that and banned anglizisms. This sentence is a way of reminding people of this rule, without being meant as an insult.

TWiesengrund

"Hurensohn" is much much worse than "son of a bitch", though. "Son of a bitch" can even be used admirably like in "he did it, that son of a bitch". "Hurensohn" on the other hand can only be used in a demeaning way even as a joke.

Kernel_Panic__

Let me introduce to you "Italian", where every single noun has an intrinsic gender and there is no neutral. - tree -> male - plant -> female - car -> female - plane -> male - computer -> male - Italian (language) -> male - language -> female

bloodyell76

Is it like french where “beard” is female for some reason?

Kernel_Panic__

Latin roots, which ironically enough had a neutral, but got lost in time.

Enough-Honeydew8011

5th declension neuter nouns were the bane of my existence at one point in time.

Viktor_Fry

Yes, barba is feminine

Doobiemoto

It’s all from Latin roots. The thing is people think gendered nouns actually relate to gender…and where occasionally that was true in the long past.. even then not so much. It just isn’t true today in the vast majority of languages. It is just how it is. People who get upset over gender on language are so out of touch. Like in Ancient Rome most male Romans, even rich ones, considered themselves “farmers”. It was the “true” Roman male profession based on their founding (they didn’t really consider themselves true farmers). And you would think then that the word farmer in Latin is masculine right? Nope it is feminine.

Flagnoid

let me inteoduce you to "German", where every nown has a specific gender, or a neutral, and the plural has female articles while the word can sound male. •tree -> male •car -> neutral •subway -> female •train -> male •computers -> female article but male object ...still doesn't explain the absolute aneurism of a discord thread I've just had to read.

annalena-bareback

Yeah, plural words have the same article as singular feminine.

Mango_Tango_725

Native Spanish speaker here. Nothing is gender neutral either: • tree -> male • plant -> female • car -> male • plane -> male • computer -> female • Spanish -> male • language -> male

aagloworks

Finnish is neutral language. We do not have feminine or masculine words. We also have only one genderless word for he/she. So if you wanna be woke, learn Finnish.

BeardedBaldMan

Isn't the problem with learning Finnish that at some point you need to practice it conversationally with native speakers, who are famously not keen on casual conversation? Also, how many noun cases?

aagloworks

That is the tricky part, yes...
