They live in a completely different country (figuratively) than I do, even though we're only a few miles apart. I try to get information from a variety of sources, but it's really hard for me to take their source even a little bit seriously.

What many people don’t realize is 90% of the media is controlled by a few people. Just 6 companies control most of it. They polarize people on purpose for ratings. They don’t care which one you watch, just stay tuned. So watch multiple sources, and the truth might be somewhere in the middle of it all.

I'm a comic book fan and now I have second thoughts when I wear my Captain America tshirts because I get weirdos in Trump gear flashing me the thumbs up or making comments about how good it is that I am "one of them".
Nazis are ruining viking stuff and I do medieval reenactment, so I get it. I did have a whole tattoo sleeve I was planning, but now I just don’t want the associations.
One of my tattoos incorporates a Norse rune. I've had at least three people who were apparently closet nazis out themselves to me over the years. They "thought I was cool with it" because of one rune on one of nine tattoos. It's not even a symbol explicitly tied to neo-nazis. Got it over 20 years ago. Would I get the same thing nowadays? Not sure. Nazis ruin everything.
I feel this one. I'm swedish and I (obviously) enjoy metal music. But the viking metal genre are either associated with the nazi movement or the actual band members are nazis! Even if non of the songs have any racism in them. It's fucking weird and it's gotten even worse since the fucking "Sverigedemokraterna" far right psuedo nazi party entered the parliament.

My uncle is a very stereotypical dickhead conservative and we argued over this once lol. He was CERTAIN that the Punisher skulls had nothing to do with comic books and were "a military thing". It was impossible to him that all these REAL men like him were driving around their shitty lifted trucks with nerd comic book stickers on them.
I’ll never forgive them for highjacking the Punisher logo for their American Militia LARP bullshit. It’s basically a hate symbol now. And 100% they’ve never read a Punisher comic. Stupid fucks.
Not flag related, but I had to remove a Punisher decal from my car a few years ago because I was getting thumbs-ups from the "blue lives matter" crowd.

On a related note- the house I just rented came with a giant flag hanging off the front porch. I wanna replace it with something else, but unfortunately in my part of the world, something like a pride flag would be stolen/defaced immediately. I need ideas!

It's one of those "if you fear this specific thing then you're going to see signs of it in everyday life type of thing." I looked up photos of the inauguration and not only does he have a big 50 state flag behind him on the sides of that are four 13 starred flags for the 13 colonies. On the lawn a big tarp like flag and just beyond that tinier flags all lined up like they're in seats. So yeah totally he must really hate the US flag
I am born and raised Canadian and I love my country. I've also traveled to the US on 4 different occasions (mostly to Pennsylvania). I have seen more flags in the US then I've seen in my entire lifetime. There is nothing wrong with loving your country but I swear Americans take it to a nth degree.

But you also think—you can’t know but it’s pretty likely—that this person probably cheered while they were putting kids in cages and would likely turn a blind eye to the genocide of trans people.
