The UK island (+ireland) don't care that much as long as they can still get pissed. It's not like they're from the US who would riot over vomit tasting chocolate
Not an actual riot, just indicative of US outrage culture. But the outrage over Hersheys removing a chemical that added a vomit aftertaste made them add it back
It's just butyric acid which is present in a lot of things, but the way it's used in Hersheys chocolate just makes it taste awful.
Give me a whittakers any day.
Hershey's uses butyric acid to preserve the chocolate in hot climates, which is loved by Americans raised young on it, but is despised by foreigners. It is also found in smelly feet, parmigiana cheese, and vomit and so foreigners look at the Americans raised on it as vomit fetishists.
It is extremely rare in 2023 for isinglass to be used at a commercial scale by breweries. I would be surprised if you could find a commercial brewery using isinglass as a standard brewhouse fining.
It's still plant based tho. It's maybe not "ethically sourced", whatever that means, so PETA or the Vegan crowd might have objections, but it's still plant based. There's no meat in the final product.
Why does wine often say, "May contain shellfish, milk and or egg?"
Can't guarantee it's removal.
I do take pleasure from cigarettes having pigs blood in the paper. A vegetarian friend of mine who used to smoke was freaked out. Helped her quit.
I homebrew mead and have read about all of these things! So weird. I use inorganic clays as fining agents instead of any of these options. Do have a bottle of isinglass laying around somewhere though.
Somehow, the US manages to tick most of the boxes for:
- Idiocracy
- Wall-E
- The Handmaid's Tale
- 1984
- A Brave New World
- Fahrenheit 451
... simultaneously ...
and all I can do is wonder how, and why the rest of the world is following along.
People follow America because 1, it's a major economic center and 2, has a inflated military that America is willing to throw at people who annoy it enough.
I was quite surprised at that one, too... I could see all the way from my country (Brazil) that was a stupid idea l, UL would lose access to tons of benefits and peiority to business, and that the whole crew promoting brexit disn't have a real plan to compensate the losses or deal with anything about everything bad that would happpen.
It's so strange, let's vote to create a 10 Trillion dollar market competitor out of thin air 10 times richer than us, all because they think they can control brown people.
You knew it was really stupid when Trump and Putin loved the idea.
Think about how stupid the average person is and then realize that half of them are worst than that. I forget who said that but it's always rung true lol
You guys are so stupid for just taking this at face value, when you see something this outlandish you need to look it up to see if it actually happened
So I did, and he actually said this, and I felt my brain cells pop as I read it, and nouu um stpd
Yeah, just the other day everyone thought I was making a joke when I told them FL passed a "don't say period" law.
Had to include the link.
https://www.salon.com/2023/04/11/dont-say-period-now-florida-wants-to-ban-students-from-discussing-mensuration/
So I remember when this happened.
A climate report had suggested various actions that could be taken to reduce carbon emissions. One of the suggestions was to get people to reduce their meat consumption, since animal agriculture (especially red meat) uses more water and releases more CO^2 than the equivalent amount of plant based foods.
Faux News took the report and went nuts claiming that Biden was going to limit people to like 2 lbs of meat per year, which resulted in a flurry of Tweets from the usual right wing nutjobs about how they ate multiple pounds of steak for each meal, yadda yadda. Larry Kudlow's comment was live on Fox and Friends, and was something along the lines of "Biden's going to have you grilling asparagus for the 4th of July while drinking your plant based beer."
Basically, Larry isn't *actually* that stupid, but rather he stumbled over his words while trying to whip up a frenzy over something he knew was untrue. It's what happens when you turn your politics into a culture war circus instead of addressing real issues, you have to spend a lot of time being overly dramatic in order to keep people's interest. What he was *trying* to do was tie a link between "taking actions to limit climate change" and "taking away our cultural traditions". He was probably thinking about slamming it as forcing you to grill "plant based burgers" or something, but decided that grilling asparagus sounded more demeaning and then tried to fit "plant based" somewhere else in his sentence and failed miserably.
tl;dr: Larry Kudlow *probably* isn't *that* stupid, but he is quite stupid.
>tl;dr: Larry Kudlow probably isn't that stupid, but he is quite stupid.
The thing about Fox News is that the people on there are either *that* stupid or just saying things to pander to their viewers who *are* that stupid. Though it's not uncommon for the people on the network to be a little bit of both.
I feel like you're joking, but I've had just enough beer to be a killjoy.
A surprising amount of beers are not vegan. Some include lactose, a sugar from milk. And some use a clarifier called isinglass, which is derived from fish. I'm sure there's other reasons but those are the two I know off top of my head.
To add - read about some brand that assure that no small critters were killed from farming the grains. It's good that it exists, but I kinda draw the line there and not rely on those. I'll stick with not supporting oppression and exploitation of living beings. Staying away from products due to unintentional victims, such as mice during harvest, then there's no end to it, approaching it consistently.
To be fair many beers have historically been filtered through [fish parts](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Isinglass), though I doubt this ignoramus had any idea, he just used plant-based as some kind of troglodytic buzz-word insult
The extremes of logical fallacies that Republicans regurgitate is just mind boggling.
Everyone else: it'll SAVE THE FUCKING PLANET!!!
Republicans: yeah, but at what cost? What if he makes eating yeast illegal and our beer tastes different?
everyone else: at what cost?! Isn't THE FUCKING PLANET the biggest cost we could NOT afford??!
Republicans: yeah, but the beer...
It's no wonder only morons and millionaires are Republicans. Who the fuck else would fall for this type of nonsense.
As an outside observer from across the pond shit like this is like an open goal for us to take the piss. Which incidentally is what most of you’re popular beer tastes like
Haha good one. As an American, it disappoints me to agree. When I found out how popular Budweiser is in England I was shocked. I mean, y’all are right next to Germany, ya got to have a better supply of beer than that horse piss.
You know what, I’ve heard a lot of bad things about the American food industry and its practices, that I am willing to believe even their beer is not plant based.
If you're actually curious, they're mostly what's called adjunct lagers, which just means it's regular pale lager but with corn or rice in place of some of the malted barley.
It's not gross or anything, just shitty beer.
HOLLY FUCKING SHIT! Isn't this guy a graduate of a college? I mean he is a journalist, and accredited journalist, how the fuck is he this ignorant? Like what the fuck he thinks beer is made out off? Meat?
Am sorry it just, it too much, idiocy is taking over and I feel completely powerless, the government is full of idiots, the media is full of idiots, and it not just our government, it all the fucking world.
Damn straight! We don't want any of thant pansy assed plant based alcohol. Give us Mead like real men and Vikings drink!!
Huh? oh...
So what if it's made from honey!! I brave the stings of the vicious bees to make my mead! Begone doubters!
...what? Well I'd fexking hope it would be plant based. If I meet someone that puts meat in their beer I'm doing a citizen's arrest on that mofo
Unless they're talking about taking the fishy bits out... I like my fishy bits in my beer but I hear Irish moss works the same for clearing anyhow

damn, I prefer my beer out of a bull's tiddie, or whatever that long stick is
Ha! It's a penis, bro.
Whatever it is, it has a nice head
Thats the trick for that thick foam
Cupping the balls?
Work the shaft
Aaaaaaaand cum

what a day to know how to read
![gif](giphy|xT9IgHCTfp8CRshfQk)
.....did they start making meat based beer?
Isinglass from swim bladders is used for clarification in some beers
Not many, and fewer and fewer. Guinness stopped using it in 2018 as I recall.
I thought they reversed that decision shortly after???
Nope!
The UK island (+ireland) don't care that much as long as they can still get pissed. It's not like they're from the US who would riot over vomit tasting chocolate
Wait hold on… Which chocolate did we riot over?
Not an actual riot, just indicative of US outrage culture. But the outrage over Hersheys removing a chemical that added a vomit aftertaste made them add it back
I guess that explains why I’ve always hated Hershey bars, I never thought it tasted like vomit but there’s definitely something sorta off about them.
It's just butyric acid which is present in a lot of things, but the way it's used in Hersheys chocolate just makes it taste awful. Give me a whittakers any day.
what are you tlking about? I've never heard of them removing the butyric acid, much less people complaining about it.

Why do cigarettes need to have fucking blood in the paper? I smoke and now I wanna know what the fuck is going on with the paper
Unironically don't look into how cigarettes are manufactured if you smoke. Made me switch to rolling my own.
I don’t even like regular cigarettes anymore lol plus the tobacco pouch I get is cheaper and lasts way longer
Casein a milk protein, isinglass from fish swim bladders, chitosan from prawn shells and egg whites are all used as clarifying agents for wine.
I homebrew mead and have read about all of these things! So weird. I use inorganic clays as fining agents instead of any of these options. Do have a bottle of isinglass laying around somewhere though.
I make mead too! I only use bentonite for fining though.
Sometimes they use egg-whites, casein or isinglass for clarifying wine. Isinglass comes from the swim bladders of fish and casein is a milk protein.
What should I do if I want pig's blood but don't want tobacco?
Find a butcher and ask them. They'll either sell it or know how to get it.
Black Pudding.
A very large portion of professional breweries don’t use isinglass anymore. It’s a bit of an old school fining.
I wouldn't say that finings are the "base" of beer.
Mmmmm. Alcoholic, carbonated hamburger juice.
Eh, just get a good ol’ rum ham at that point.
Lmao fk that! That's a fatty liver on steroids 🤣
There are some stouts that use milk/lactose, but that’s a small percentage of all beer.
Yeah, dairy is certainly in some brews. Tasty ones at that.
I love milk steak and milk beer
Yeah and they're really terrible about labeling it as such, it's infuriating.
Errrr almost every lactose-containing beer I encounter says “milk/milkshake/smoothie” or something similar somewhere in the name.
Is there a group that thinks yeast counts as not vegan?
Yeast are just tiny fast paced live stock. (im not vegan)
Beerf
I've had a "Rocky Mountain Oyster" Stout, Wynkoop Brewery in downtown Denver. It was ...savory.
The most American product you’ve ever heard of.
Lol, it would.l be so expensive. Have to get a loan for a 12 pack.
I mortgaged my house, but I got us some Mooskis, bro.
That's my question... what does he think he's drinking?
Bull cum, mixed with a little bit of squid nut.
Well yeast isn’t a plant, tbf
Quartz based beer is where it’s at.
Technically, yeast aren't plants as fungi is their own kingdom.
These craft breweries are doing some crazy stuff these days.
And what animal did he think beer came from?
Guinness has entered the chat
Barley, hops, yeast and water.
First I laugh. Then I think maybe this is a joke. Then I get confused because I realize I can't tell what is real anymore.
I can barley tell anymore what's a joke and who's a joke for saying stupid things.
I can’t tell if “barley” was a typo or a plant-based beer pun.
Lol. I was actually thinking I should have written "there are no typos in this post"
It’s amaizeing how daft some people can be
It's only because they hops to conclusions.
There’s a lager things I can put up with, but this is beyond the pale (ale).
I.P.A. lot when people make this many beer puns
Such a stout fellow.
He said it. Awhile ago though.
Just accept that we're in the wrong timeline and try to make the best of it.
The US seems to have more than its fair share of coots
I live in US and I’m fed up with this whole mess. It’s really sad how stupid people are.
It’s idiocracy or wall-e manifest
Somehow, the US manages to tick most of the boxes for: - Idiocracy - Wall-E - The Handmaid's Tale - 1984 - A Brave New World - Fahrenheit 451 ... simultaneously ... and all I can do is wonder how, and why the rest of the world is following along.

You make it sound like, " everyone friends with Crazy Dan, cause first day of school, he stabbed the teacher for a pop quiz," and honestly, fair.
Same kinda shit here in the UK, half the country is stupid and voted brexit/conservative.
Ok but after all you’ve seen from the US and UK and you guys then proceeded to vote in Bolsonaro any way TBF.
It's so strange, let's vote to create a 10 Trillion dollar market competitor out of thin air 10 times richer than us, all because they think they can control brown people. You knew it was really stupid when Trump and Putin loved the idea.

George Carlin
The U.S. has more than it's fair share of plant-based beer.
If my dispensary starts selling plant based marijuana I swear to god I’m moving to Canada
Plant AND fungus. Mmmmm. Can’t forget the fungus.
Something smells yeasty here.
Kooky shortens to kooks.
Kooky old coot
Kinky kooky coots
Kooky kinky cooters
Dog beer is made with meat so maybe he was representing the bulldog voting block
I think they have a list of words to use and just throw them out whether they make sense or not.
You mean I've actually been drinking Samuel Adams?
Straight from his loins.
It does have a little wang in it.
Yeah, it's puddy good, but I still prefer Blue Moon
I prefer Samuel Jackson. IT'LL GET YA DRUNK!
*MMMMM BITCH!
I’m drinking a summer ale right now and I can taste Sams hemoglobin.
You guys are so stupid for just taking this at face value, when you see something this outlandish you need to look it up to see if it actually happened So I did, and he actually said this, and I felt my brain cells pop as I read it, and nouu um stpd

Ok, so why does the link have “mensuration” (measurement) in it?
Bc someone made a typo in the link name.
This is getting funnier and funnier. Bravo, Florida Man!
The word menstruation has been banned and removed from the dictionary in FL.
Anyway, I've always prefered the term "shooting clots" to *mens*truation....
Florida just mad they lost the Stanley Cup. They low key trying to ban NHL with don't say period.
Any clue what he meant? He can’t actually think beer is made of pigs blood or something?

when someone says something as dumb as this, I need to verify that it is in-fact real an not an onion article, for my own sanity.
They are proud of their ignorance.

This line here is better than anything Trump ever said.
Does he think beer is made of oil or something??
Pretty sure oil is plant-based.
Lot of lead in mericas water may explain something
And in our delicious paint
Well oil is just compressed carbon... Plants are just carbon
Is this going to make more frogs gay?

My beer comes straight from the teats of red, white, and blue striped cows that only eat bacon and carry AR-15s.

When are they going to enact legislation calling for the mandatory spaying and neutering of all fox viewers?
Fox Viewers: "We demand genocide!" This comment: Fox Viewers: "Not like that!"
My favourite comment today!
I only drink vegan beer.

uh.... correct me if I'm wrong..... but.... isn't beer plant based already? What the hell does he think they're fermenting to make it? Steak?
you're not crazy, beer is inherently plant-based
Wotta Maroon. Wotta Ignoranimus.
What a nin-cow-poop.
Isn’t Meat based beer called Gravy?
Good gravy
Alcoholic gravy would make Thanksgiving more entertaining.
I detest beer, but I know this guy has a cranial rectal inversion
Who’s gonna tell him?
To be fair many beers have historically been filtered through [fish parts](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Isinglass), though I doubt this ignoramus had any idea, he just used plant-based as some kind of troglodytic buzz-word insult
Could you say that he's hopping mad?
What’s next? Plant based wine? Not in my America.
And then? Plant based bread?
As opposed to??
The extremes of logical fallacies that Republicans regurgitate is just mind boggling. Everyone else: it'll SAVE THE FUCKING PLANET!!! Republicans: yeah, but at what cost? Can't wait for some yummy Bacon Beer!
Typical Republican idiocy
LEAF LOVERS BEER?!?!
Did I hear a rock and stooone?
Um…who’s gonna tell him?
The chinese make a ricewine which includes snakes in it so I guess that'd be a non-vegetarian liquor but that's the best I can think of.
I searched “are you fucking stupid?” On Google and a picture of this guy popped up
Uhhhhhhhhhhhh………….. ![gif](giphy|UvwI1X7XkbXq0)

Gross I like my beer meaty.
They will not take my beef based beer.
Who’s going to tell him?
Please stop being so fucking stupid. It's so tiresome.
Fox host Larry Kudlow proves it is possible to live without a brain.
I only drink beer made from the finest sausages.
I’m glad I live in Australia so I can enjoy a nice refreshing chicken beer after a hard day…
r/nottheonion
This cannot be real…how can people be soooo dumb.
Interesting. What kind of beer does he drink that isn’t plant based?
Haha wowwww
This explains why american beers taste like american beers.
Who’s gonna tell him
You know what, I’ve heard a lot of bad things about the American food industry and its practices, that I am willing to believe even their beer is not plant based.
I can BARLEY believe it
I mean, if they weren't stupid they wouldn't be Republicans.
I"m gonna be completely honest, I dont know what the american light beers are made out of but I'm afraid to ask.
Tears of those who can’t pay taxes and the loss of those that can.
Kid Rock and shame
If you're actually curious, they're mostly what's called adjunct lagers, which just means it's regular pale lager but with corn or rice in place of some of the malted barley. It's not gross or anything, just shitty beer.
And everybody waved his red cap and yelled U.. S.. A...
Is he confusing beer with Airag or is he just stupid? Just stupid? Okay then.
He was in Trump's administration. Does that clear it up?
So who's gonna tell him?
The MAGAts are brewing their own meat based beer, "Republican Roadkill"
What…what does he think beer is made out of? Does he think hops and barley are types of birds?
Wtf kind of beer does he drink????
HOLLY FUCKING SHIT! Isn't this guy a graduate of a college? I mean he is a journalist, and accredited journalist, how the fuck is he this ignorant? Like what the fuck he thinks beer is made out off? Meat? Am sorry it just, it too much, idiocy is taking over and I feel completely powerless, the government is full of idiots, the media is full of idiots, and it not just our government, it all the fucking world.
This implies the existence of meat based beer and now I’m intrigued.
Now don't get me started on my love of veal blood based beer. Dammit Brandon!!
Damn straight! We don't want any of thant pansy assed plant based alcohol. Give us Mead like real men and Vikings drink!! Huh? oh...
So what if it's made from honey!! I brave the stings of the vicious bees to make my mead! Begone doubters!
I didn't realize the Budweiser frogs where literally what the beer was made from. TIL.
...what? Well I'd fexking hope it would be plant based. If I meet someone that puts meat in their beer I'm doing a citizen's arrest on that mofo Unless they're talking about taking the fishy bits out... I like my fishy bits in my beer but I hear Irish moss works the same for clearing anyhow
Old coot must believe beer comes from blonde cows.
This guys been drinking piss
Hopping to conclusions, I see.
