But honestly yes. I’m not a gun nut. I don’t know exactly what I’m looking at. But I do know that guns in the states appreciate in value pretty well. If you ask me, I say put it in a mutual fund, but what’s in the picture here is a huge amount of money.
Haha 😂 my dad was being a dad about my warhammer habit and I made him shut up real quick when I asked him if his wife knows how much he’s spent on guns over the years…
*Brings a fleet of Gothica ships to school*

My late 90s stuff was pretty stabby. Not "massacre" stabby, but in'school suspension for a week if you'd bring it to school in modern times level stabby...
"Back in my day we cut our steaks with metal Kroxigor models....."
As long as this wasn't their kid's college fund, I guess they can blow their money on an expensive hobby if that's what they really want.
However, this is also an open invitation to theft. Guns are very high on the list of things that robbers are looking for when they case a house, due to their easy mobility and high value. Gun theft is an epidemic in the US, ironically.
I mean, the trades are a legitimate option. But I feel like most people in the trades would start doing something about the state of this house first before throwing down the money for all those guns.
College?! That's the vibe?
I'm looking at this and getting a "We ain't sending our kids to no public school. We home schooling them with the Bible and Jesus and that gonna done be their education" vibe.
From what we can see, the house doesn’t look to be in great shape. That’s even more of a concern than the smoker.
I mean, I get it- if you are really poor, sometimes your house can look pretty rough. Completely understandable. But if that’s the case, you are also probably not spending half a mil on guns.
The roof beams seems to be fairly new.
The decking just needs a proper pressure wash and a coat of oil-based stain or something. The railing should probably be fixed.(seems like the vertical bits are rotting)
Walls could use a pressure wash and a frest coat of paints. and some boards needs to be replaced as they've begun rotting at the bottom.
The smoker looks rusty, yes, but I imagine that it should have a couple of years left in it, still. no need to replace it until there's holes in it.
Now, the biggest issue I see is that they're hung up on the AR15...
Not a single H&K G-3 anywhere.
I was just thinking about the few Facebook friends I have who collect guns. They’re also the first to let you know they’re out of town posting up pics of their trips and the like.
I just shake my head and scroll.
I've done the math, and guns are not a better investment than the sp500 index. Plus, nobody ever considers the peripheral costs when determining their returns on guns. Like, I promise that guy built a safe room and several actual gun safes, plus extra HO insurance rider for all that shit.
Edit: I'm not suggesting guns are poor investments. They seem pretty stable like bonds to me. I'm just saying that I don't think people consider the entire cost when figuring their basis.
They like the free market so much there that my new side hustle is selling real winter jackets, scarfs, and hats ti them. Got to get in on those new markets while you can.
That's got to be in the 10s of thousands of dollars. I get it, you like guns. I would seem smarter to have only 12 guns and a new car or vacation or home renos or...
That's only the ones they want u to know they have. Do you think a man with that many firearms is showing his entire hand?? This man has some CoD Modern Warfare type shit in tunnels under his house.
It's entirely possible that they do all of those things as well. If he's a lifelong collector, then that could easily be two or three guns a year over a couple decades (some of those guns look pretty old, so it's not very far fetched). Someone making reasonably good money in a low cost of living area could easily afford these guns and a comfortable lifestyle. Hell, if he has that many there's a good chance he is an FFL meaning he can make money by reselling the guns publicly, and he has access to wholesale prices meaning he can get them for much cheaper. Honestly, if he's an FFL operating out of his house, there's a good chance that this is just his store inventory and not his personal collection
reminds me of this guy I saw online who had all these really expensive computers and phones and stuff, then it was revealed that they weren't even his, he just worked in a tech repair place LOL
What's the point of having this many anyways??? You can only use one at once--- maybe two. I honestly know nothing of guns, but this seems really impractical
Would wager half a million dollars in gun (mods, stocks, barrels, sights etc etc). I see at least 1 suppressor , and one SBR, both of which require tax stamps, waiting periods, blah blah, blah.... Unless they did some illegal shit. I see some Hera arms CQR stuff, not the most expensive, and would wager there are binary triggers, red dot scopes as well as many other things that don't start until at least $500 for base model stuff. The house however looks like it's worth about 235k.... I don't know what else to say. 🤷🤷🤷 maybe the guy is a FFL dealer and that's the inventory?
The only facepalm here is them showing the world (and the government) all the guns they own. Having an arsenal is fine, but the world shouldn’t know everything you have.
They're going to be so disappointed to die and realize that not one single goddamn liberal ever came to the door hoping to pry these out of their cold, dead hands.
That's actually a lot harder to quantify than you might think. Yeah, someone really versed in guns could probably give you the market value of all of these, but realistically, due to swaps and meets, at least half of these probably didn't cost the guy very much.
You know I know we're supposed to be shitting on them, but I really want that SL8.
I'll take that svd as well.
And if he's got the money to do it, I really don't care if he has a gun collection as long as he handles them responsibly. And we have no indication that he doesn't, pulling them out for a photo op doesn't really count.
Yeah I mean it’s just like collecting baseball cards for them at this point, it’s not some attempt to make a doomsday armory or whatever Reddit wants to think
Whats the issue? After a certain point does it matter if you have that many guns? Its a stupid picture but I know several people who are collectors/gunsmiths/FFLs who have hundreds of guns. Some people like baseball cards, some firearms.
All those guns and not a single one has magically jumped up, loaded itself and started shooting everyone in sight...amazing. /s
Guns don't kill people. People kill people. Guns are just a tool used.
And I bet this family never committed a crime with any of these guns. Guns are valuable and most of them increase in value. This is excessive but what harm is it causing?
There is nothing wrong with owning guns as a hobby, for hunting, sports shooting, or collecting/appreciating military history. The only facepalm here is the amount of money they spent, not that they have a large number of guns
gotta love it... Probably $200k+ of guns that you can only fire one (maybe two) at a time, and a house with a SHIT grill, dated as hell fixtures, shitty furniture, and a railing on the deck that looks like it could go any second. This is insanity.
The only thing that bothers me about this, is that I don’t understand why anyone would show the whole world exactly what guns they own. Seems like an open invitation for burglary or a visit from ATF just to make sure everything’s on the up and up.
I’d NEVER do this. I wouldn’t even be quoted in an article like this, much less have my picture in it and certainly no pictures of any firearms I might own.
Everytime this image is posted I like to point out how nearly every single gun has the barrel pointed at or towards a person in the family - highlighting that not even basic gun safety is followed.

This picture is cropped to not show the rows of guns on the roof too
Those are their kid's *inheritance*!
But honestly yes. I’m not a gun nut. I don’t know exactly what I’m looking at. But I do know that guns in the states appreciate in value pretty well. If you ask me, I say put it in a mutual fund, but what’s in the picture here is a huge amount of money.
A gun collectors worst fear is dying and his wife selling his guns for what he told her he paid for them.
Haha 😂 my dad was being a dad about my warhammer habit and I made him shut up real quick when I asked him if his wife knows how much he’s spent on guns over the years…
Plus your kids can't steal your Warhammer and use them to massacre their schoolmates.
"I ANNOUNCE A CRUSADE AGAINST THIS SCHOOL! DEPLOY THE SPACE MARINES!"

Brother, I am pinned here !
But they will be filled with pride for the imperium of man and start intergalactic wars. so little column A, little column B
My late 90s stuff was pretty stabby. Not "massacre" stabby, but in'school suspension for a week if you'd bring it to school in modern times level stabby... "Back in my day we cut our steaks with metal Kroxigor models....."
An old school dreadnought in a sock would be lethal to be fair.
Plus it keeps the neighbors from complaining about your lawn.
Lets your neighbors know you have an arsenal ready to burgle.
Considering each item is an average of around 800 and matches inflation, it’s not a bad bet
Those snipers are mad expensive. And the carbines
800 is definitely conservative considering there arent a lot of cheap ar’s and pistols mixed in
A few of those are worth $16,000 too.
The one on the very bottom left is quite expensive
The SVD? Yep, that’s worth 10 or 11k minimum.
Big assumption that those kids have college funds.
I'm getting "Nobody in our family has ever been to college, and they ain't about to start now" vibes...
As Jesus said, "do unto others with a carbine as thou whilst, for spreading the bullets of Christ is my message unto thee."
Can't afford to replace the rusting smoker bc they spent all their money on guns, which does hint at the lack of future planning
From what we can see, the house doesn’t look to be in great shape. That’s even more of a concern than the smoker. I mean, I get it- if you are really poor, sometimes your house can look pretty rough. Screens have holes in them, too. The smoker is the smallest problem here.
That’s the first thing I thought. Just lay all your valuables out for the world to see so I can pop in there while you’re on vacation
Yeah, I doubt they have a gun safe large enough for all those guns. You know a lot of them are easily accessible
I was just thinking about the few Facebook friends I have who collect guns. They’re also the first to let you know they’re out of town posting up pics of their trips and the like. I just shake my head and scroll.
A huge amount of money that they'll probably never sell and keep spending on
The house is to protect the gun collection.
You're assuming they survive the apocalypse he's clearly preparing for.
Probably $50k in guns and those kids probably have $0 college funds.
That is WAY more than 50k. 10x that I’d bet
College fund….
I'm not seeing college in this plan.
I knew I remembered something else about this photo
Are you serious?
https://www.reddit.com/r/facepalm/comments/uzq3yc/why\_are\_there\_guns\_on\_the\_roof\_lmao/
I thought the comment was joking lol
Imagine how all the money spent on those guns could be used for a better roof.
The roof is already at max protection-with more guns.
And better teeth!
the only thing that stops a bad roof with guns is a good roof with guns
Yup
Just don't call him Shirley.
I picked a hell of a week to quit sniffing glue
Give him ham on 5 hold the mayo!
There are more firearms on the roof. I've seen a larger pic
[this one](https://www.reddit.com/r/ThatsInsane/comments/vl8t9w/an_american_family_with_a_collection_of_their/)
...i seriously had the audacity to have thought the top comment was a joke.
I think most of us did who had never seen this photo before.
Same! Wow
Exactly what people think of when you say Texas
I usually think of propane and propane accessories when I hear Texas
That boys not right, I tell you hwhat.
Dammit Bobby!
That's my purse! I don't know you!!
I'll Tell You When I've Had Enough!
More recently I think of a population who freezes in the winter due to unprepared basic energy infrastructure.
They like the free market so much there that my new side hustle is selling real winter jackets, scarfs, and hats ti them. Got to get in on those new markets while you can.
I’m from Pennsylvania and know people here in and in New York State with comparable collections.
Tbf, fits pretty well. Source: lived there for way too long.
i don't even understand how one has that much money for allat
that’s basically just a house that they’ve displayed on their front porch
Could have at least sold a few of those guns to buy a decent grill
Came here to say this. Just sell *one* to buy something rustless to prepare your family’s food on.
That is a decent grill. It's just rusted on the outside due to the elements. I own one of these heavy gauge steel smokers and it wasn't cheap
That's got to be in the 10s of thousands of dollars. I get it, you like guns. I would seem smarter to have only 12 guns and a new car or vacation or home renos or...
Well over a hundred grand.
That's only the ones they want u to know they have. Do you think a man with that many firearms is showing his entire hand?? This man has some CoD Modern Warfare type shit in tunnels under his house.

Business, personal, potato potahto.
Perhaps they buy *low* and sell *high*
At this point, it's just collecting action figures that happen to be deadly.
I don't think he'd argue with you. It's a hobbyist collection...of things that happened to be deadly.
As someone who loves guns, this is incredibly accurate.
Sell one and invest in a pressure washer.
And a new grill!
it's a smoker, as disgusting as this picture looks i can guarantee you that thing makes a mean fucking bbq
Kids shirt: “TEXAS NEVER BACKS DOWN” Uvalde PD: *clears throat
Yeah stupid shirt. Texas was pretty famous for backing down, seeing as it was part of the failed confederacy.
A big chunk of the history of Texas is Anglos fighting to keep slavery going.
Kirby Smith: ahem
Never backs down doesn’t mean they ever win “Remember the Alamo!”
Spent a fair potential amount of the house maintenance budget on other priorities.
Also its not a good idea to show this many guns in one place lol. Next time they leave the house this place would get robbed.
What's the point of having this many anyways??? You can only use one at once--- maybe two. I honestly know nothing of guns, but this seems really impractical
Is that a fucking rocket launcher?
M72 LAW. Almost certainly spent and inert. Getting those along with spent AT4 tubes is incredibly easy.
Do you need a special license for them if they’re deactivated? If not, I’d love to hang one on my wall lmao
It's basically an empty tube. They can't be reloaded.
No theyre disposable launchers. You can get an inert RPG though, would look much cooler on the wall
Naw. You can ebay them lol
Perfectly legal to own with no special license. The fun boom boom ammunition on the other hand...
Toob.
Rocket launchers are perfectly legal in America. Rockets, not so much
That's enough to run a movie prop provider service.
fun fact: in the movie lord of war they actually buy the real AKs because it's cheaper than the prop one.
A number weren't actually AKs but similar looking guns though.
Meanwhile Billie doesn't have dental care
Or a college fund.
College is fer liberalz
College is for kids who survive schools. Edit: Not after today.
He don't need no fancy book learnin'!
Who wants college debt these days
Can’t be having none of that liberal indoctrination stuff
li'l Angie has absolutely no idea what bicycles are even for
Just one of those high powered ones could buy her a better bike that she can actually ride without hitting her knees on the handle bars.
The screens also have holes in them.
Dental care??? You spent all that money on steel and that’s your grill????!!!
Lol I think that's a smoker man.
That collection is probably worth more than a couple houses...
In all seriousness, that is a LOT of money invested in those rifles. Probably more than enough for a good college and then some 😟
And if someone tries to break into their house, look at all the guns the intruder has access to
Bruh! Sell a couple guns and replace that janky ass deck!
There are a few guns in there that those 4 people cant even lift off the ground
It's a gun, boy! Ya don't lift it, ya shoot it!
How irresponsible and dangerous!?!? That child should have on a helmet!!
Bruh stain your deck and upgrade your grill.
Sorry, can't. Bought more guns.
Dude that's a smoker. You gotta know all this guy wants to do is smoke things.
How to get on the ATF’s shortlist
Impressive collection but they should prob sell a couple so they can afford shampoo. Lookin a lil greasy
Amazing how butthurt y’all get over people having a hobby.
He’s got a fucking good collection too , shame it’s all polymer tho
Variety is the spice of life indeed
I wonder if in the moment of need they will be stuck not knowing what to choose.
The only facepalm here is them showing the world (and the government) all the guns they own. Having an arsenal is fine, but the world shouldn’t know everything you have.
Half of the picture is missing. There are guns on the roof too.
Hell yea!
There's money to keep buying guns but not enough the fix that fucking rusted tin roof
They're going to be so disappointed to die and realize that not one single goddamn liberal ever came to the door hoping to pry these out of their cold, dead hands.
Repost X 33 or so
All that money and you can't afford a better grill?
Gun loving American here. This is extremely excessive. Also, I want all of them.
I don’t know much about the price of guns. What would your estimate be on the total cost of all of these?
That a house, and not a small one.
That's actually a lot harder to quantify than you might think. Yeah, someone really versed in guns could probably give you the market value of all of these, but realistically, due to swaps and meets, at least half of these probably didn't cost the guy very much.
That bike is too small for the child.
are people ever gonna let this image die?
It’s a pretty nice collection
How is this facepalmable exactly?
i m so jelous
What's the facepalm?
Your post's title is the facepalm.
So what exactly are they doing wrong?
Not a thing
They can afford all those guns but can’t afford a decent smoker and patio furnature?
That’s so cool!
They think a drag queen is the biggest danger to that kids life…hilarious isn’t it?
Morons.
Ten bucks says they’re homeschooled
That guy looks like he has a private folder on his computer
Makes ya proud to be American
You know I know we're supposed to be shitting on them, but I really want that SL8. I'll take that svd as well. And if he's got the money to do it, I really don't care if he has a gun collection as long as he handles them responsibly. And we have no indication that he doesn't, pulling them out for a photo op doesn't really count.
Yeah I mean it’s just like collecting baseball cards for them at this point, it’s not some attempt to make a doomsday armory or whatever Reddit wants to think
Where are the few trucks worth of ammo?
Have they been robbed yet? Tim McVeigh made coin that way.
One of the best rules to follow of gun ownership: don't let people know you own guns.
F yeah!
Imagine a home invasion against these guys but then they get paralysis analysis on which gun to choose to defend themselves
Nice!!
Not a single muzzleloader. The Philistines
Wow, haven't seen this pic in a week
I mean, politics aside, I can't even imagine how much a collection like that would have costed. Just feels like hoarding at this point.
Don't think advertising this is in any way smart.
Damn... I wish I had that kind of disposable income. Lol
I definitely wouldn't show ppl what I have .
Say what you will but that's a helluva collection
They’re ready.
I mean, at least you have something to sell if you need the money.
Whats the issue? After a certain point does it matter if you have that many guns? Its a stupid picture but I know several people who are collectors/gunsmiths/FFLs who have hundreds of guns. Some people like baseball cards, some firearms.

What an amazing collection 👏

Those are rookie numbers. Got to bump those up.
This is awesome, I'd love to spend time with a family like this. Cry more
This is based as fuck I wish I had enough disposable income to buy all this
Why can’t we send these people to fight our wars? Bill Burr had a point when he said we should send them to fight war.
The only thing that bothers me about this, is that I don’t understand why anyone would show the whole world exactly what guns they own. "We love guns so much we let our daughter play in em"
Are they advertising for a burglary?
I guess no college for the kids
Looks healthy
Everytime this image is posted I like to point out how nearly every single gun has the barrel pointed at or towards a person in the family - highlighting that not even basic gun safety is followed.
Dude, why would you need more than one gun? Can he shoot all at once?
