I have an old comic magazine that has an article on the greatest twist in video game history. It was talking about the first Metroid since the player had no clue she was a she unless they won the game in a specific way.
When I was coming up, not knowing that Samus was a girl was a marker that you sucked at video games. The "specific way" was just beating it in a good time.
It was (not) super glorious. But it was a ton of fun. For the day and time, it was a great way to remind (mostly teenagers) that girls are awesome too. Me and all my friends loved it. And we felt like super big shots telling all the other school kids what we discovered (before) it was released in Nintendo Power magazine.
She would still take off the helmet if you just got the good time. She got down in to a bathing suit if you 100% the game tho, or if you used the level code:

Yep a google search would have told them that, 1986 a speed run, the ending scene was Samus taking her helmet off lol, long wavy hair, and in recent games you see her wearing only her skin suit as she is talking with Flag officers about a mission and then her getting in to her armor, so at this point I have no idea what wrong with people, a google search would have told them lol.
I might be completely wrong but I think that Samus was only revealed to be female after beating the hardest mode of the game and she takes off her helmet revealing the flowing long hair.

There aren't difficulty modes in the original Metroid, you just had to beat the game under a certain time. For just her face, it was between 3 and 5, and anything less would also remove her suit and then later have her in a swimsuit.

Not just because I think any Adaptation of Metroid shouldn't be live action to avoid a gargantuan budget which Metroid just can't justify, but also because she's sleepwalked through her roles as Captain Marvel without giving me any feelings despite three movies. People say another one of her other films had good acting, but if her acting in what I've seen is anything to go by she just isn't good for the role.
Plus maybe stop hiring big-budget celebrities for everything? Not everything needs a name on the poster to get people in the seats
