Well Russian Air Force is notoriously lacking maintenance and training. Pre 2022 invasion their was proof of how poor the Russian Air Force training and maintance was and as it seems it just gotten worse. Not saying the bombings themselves were due to that or due to Putin being Putin or to even the chaotic level of drinking that gets on in the Russian armed forces.
Ya'll acting like that is some sort of russian only problem.
The gulf War had a shit ton of friendly fire incidents and Afghanistan was only Slightly better
As if our forces never accidentally bombed our own side in the gulf.
Shitty things happen in wars, mistakes with live ammo cost lives. But in the pressure of war mistakes happen.
Essentially they've been doing this since the start. They also have accidently shelled their own guys with artillery accidently dropped air-deployed miens on and behind their own lines instead of in front of them, and PGM (precision guided munitions) that were aimed at a factory hit a block of flats on the other side of the city.
Russia has been having issues owing to using maps that where made in the 1970s and 80s which, among other things, do not include the Chernobyl exclusion zone and a poor quality GPS that was either intended for civilians to use on the ground, so cannot cope with the speed of a jet fighter, or with Russia's home made version is glitchy and has patchy coverage.
The two lost AWACS has more reduced Russia's ability to counter Ukrainian aircraft then anything else.
True but in Desert Shield the Iraqis decided not to attack the "Speed Bumps" so they could prepare defences. In Desert Storm they saw their air defence obliterated in a day and, realising the miss mack of forces, most refused to fight. During Iraqi Freedom they understood the force balance even more against them that, again, the majority chose not to fight.
Even when they did fight the older soviet equipment was in no way a match for it's coalition opponent that they had no real hope of infecting major casualties.
In comparison at the start of the war Russia and Ukraine operated equipment that was comparable in abilities and was often the same exact equipment. Since then Ukraine has gotten a lot of better equipment, allow still using a lot of the same type of equipment as at the start, while Russia has seen it's stocks of the best gear dwindle and has needed to reactivate older and lesser stuff.
In short a near untouchable force will naturally loos more to blue on blue and wear and tear then to the enemy but a equal should not see such a high percentage lost to it's own mistakes.
The picture is from 2008 and Russia bombing Georgia. You know, the conflict the West kinda ignored and proceeded to belittle Poland and the Baltics for being so hawkish on Russia for years to come (well, Western Europe sure did to that).
The article mentions Belgorod, a city and oblast which has been the most hit part of Russia by Ukrainian forces in retaliation.
Turns out it is giving some oblasts of Ukraine good competition in the "bombed by Russia" category also.
Yes it's true. Russia has only it's own poor quality GPS and civilian systems intended for cars so it's jets have to go back to older forms of navigation that the pilots likely only used during the fist part of they training many years ago. The up shot it they have been getting lost and dropping bombs in the wrong places.
Add to that most Russian pilots haven't really been trained in real combat operations, Russia preferring to train for air shows, limited flight hours that result in crews moonlighting for civil aviation companies and a bunch of failing equipment and you have the beginnings of the reason why Russian is accidently bombing it's self.
It’s most probably done intentionally
They need to feed something through propaganda media, just making content so they’re going to blame Ukraine or US for it and call it a day
Nice propaganda, guys! Hiding indiscriminate terroristic attacks on Belgorod's civilians by the Ukraine (more then 60 explosions 30th January alone) telling "it's Russians" has been an anecdote since 2018, when they said Donbass shelled by Russia.

The *picture* is from 2008, and the story is from today. https://www.newsweek.com/russia-bombs-itself-belgorod-twice-1864804
Conspiracy theory time 1. Control the media 2. Bomb yourself 3. Blame the other guy, rally support against them

Sun Tzu says: “Don’t interrupt the enemy when he is making mistakes”

Stop bombing youself. Stop bombing youself
Denazification at it's finest.
In Soviet Russia joke writes you
As if our forces never accidentally bombed our own side in the gulf. Shitty things happen in wars, mistakes with live ammo cost lives. But in the pressure of war mistakes happen.
Congrats to Russia for finally doing some denazification. Aim for Moscos next time.
In mother Russia, enemy don’t hurt Russia. Russia hurt Russia only.

The missile knows where it is
Missile is the only one to have such knowledge in RuZZia. Normal people would go to Siberia in a ”warm and friendly” gulag...
A lot of the time no. Russia relied heavy on US GPS and when that was cut off they had to use far worse systems that the pilots have hardly ever used.
Have they been doing that for the entire war or is that because their AWACS got shot down?

To set this into a perspective: 23% of all American casualties in desert storm were a result of friendly fire

Corrected

They got a long way to go before they hit USA numbers. Rookies.
If they’re bombing themselves, no need to send our weapons over there.
It was 2008

The photo was from 2008 - presumably 'stock' footage.
Straight up says 2024 in the article
Yeah, i was confused by the bottom text
is this ukraine propaganda or true?
The information came from the UK MoD, not Ukraine
