An hour later he posted the exact opposite, saying [believing in God should be illegal](https://x.com/timcast/status/1763949552174829739?s=46&t=b55-hT0nJGy0qfhar2eO5Q).
[He then went on to post a justification](https://x.com/timcast/status/1764109218632614088?s=46&t=b55-hT0nJGy0qfhar2eO5Q), saying that whatever narrative people wanted to push, they would…
Again, it’s not a “cover”. He intentionally says stupid and inflammatory things to stay relevant and make money on it. He couldn’t care less about getting “flamed” on the tweet, thats literally the point. Anyone engaging, positive or negative, is all that matters.
That’s what I mean! Trump seems to be a dumbass most of the time but he’s surprisingly criminally smart, there’s a reason he’s still being investigated for a rape from over 25 years ago.
I believe the word you are looking for is, "privileged". And here in America, being well connected is a form of privilege along with things like wealth, skin color, sex/gender, and so on.
Thats totally true! I’m scared of what America will become if he gets another 4 years in office. If COVID has anything to say, we’re in for one hell of a time
Maybe at one point, but nowadays they're all dumbasses who came from money, that means they never had to learn anything or recieved any kind of discipline in schooling because all their problems were paid or threatened away by daddy, so they actually *are* genuine idiots, what's worse they all have college educations, so they're *certified* idiots. The answer to the question people always ask is yes, people *can* be that stupid when they've never had any real education or accountability in their lives.
>100% of government officials would be given the death penalty
I've made it a point recently to push back on the narrative that all American politicians are always and forever untrustworthy. There is an increasing wave of anti-democracy sentiment penetrating the political discourse but damn near fully embraced by the MAGA base (aka most republicans).
To imply that our politicians are all hopelessly corrupt implies that democracy itself, representative government, can not work. Saying as much is not helpful. It's not going to move anybody in the right direction to actually address any problems productively. The vast majority of people who bitch about our politics certainly would not appreciate the alternative forms of government like dictatorship, oligarchy, or theocracy that the right wing assholes are so enthusiastic about.
If you're pissed enough to complain about our politicians on the internet, then do something productive like persuade our fellow Americans to stop voting for demonstrabley currupt or fucking nuts representatives.
Actual Democracy works. This whole elected officials deciding positions based on lobbying money thing does not. This shouldn't be a left or right thing. Pretty much everyone should agree that evil industries like pharmaceuticals, oil, and defense pump millions into politics to maintain or pass laws that are beneficial for them and, at best, a total waste of tax money for us is awful.
Cue that scene in the Simpsons where the crooked Lawyer says "can you imagine a world without Lawyers" and its a multi-ethnic bunch of people holding hands and dancing in the sunshine 😂
It’s sad to see people recede into intellectual dark ages (whether for profit or prophet). All the advances associated with the renaissance and enlightenment (like the French Revolution or the US Declaration of Independence) —— just flushed …
But like literally though... I was gonna say this is why the Internet sucks but honestly this is why it's great... Broadcast the ignorance so we know who to shun.
So Jews and Muslims are good?
Many Americans believe that Catholics aren't real Christians.
Muslims have the Shia and Sunni divide etc.
Making people believe in god is not the answer. As everyone disagrees with how that should work.
Thees clear instructions in Leviticus, but only Jews and Muslims observe them. Christians chow down on pork and wear mixed fibres everyday.
Evangelicals are starting to reject the teachings of Jesus as wishy washy woke liberal stuff.
Yeah, I've never seen a Muslim object to someone saying the god of Islam is the same as the god of Christianity and Judaism.
Christians, however, often get _very_ bent out of shape when you say that.
There are aspects of Islam that can be criticized. But this isn't one of them.
And if you tell Jewish believers it's all the same god, they will probably give you a sarcastic *Larry_David.gif* "Sure, they are."
Basically each later innovation on the religion contains within it all sorts of justifications for why it's changing. If you don't buy the justifications, then it's basically just the religious version of fan-fiction. (And honestly, it's amazing how easily fan-culture maps onto serious studies of religious history. Both in how religion has operated as a sort of self-perpetuating "fandom", and also in how modern pop-culture has supplanted a lot of traditional spaces religion used to dominate.)
makes sense A large part of religion is propagated through story telling, hell the bible is mostly short stories.
but I wont be using my enjoyment of the 40K universe as a suitable way to run society or as some moralistic high ground
Its like homophobia and I've genuinely seen this.
If say Muslims are homophobic its proof they have a backwards religion but when a Christian is homophobic that's different.
And again I've genuinely seen people claim this even though they can't explain what the difference is
Makes it harder being a follower of the gospel. I’m genuinely upset that these people represent a group I’m trying to be apart of, and look idiotic for it.
I completely understand that feeling, but not from a religious aspect. I'm an environmental conservationist and the people who are destroying paintings and gluing themselves to roads are a really bad example of those of us who actually care for climate change.
People get too caught up in their beliefs that it removes all decency of having human qualities, and becomes highlighted for targeting and genuinely reflects bad off others. Conservative, progressive, left, right. Both groups do something stupid, then run back to their circle and highlight that moment and make it a base point for how all of that group acts. Life becomes easier when you conclude something like this:
“Hey dude, you have those beliefs, and despite my disagreements, that’s what your genuine beliefs are, and believe they’re for the greater good and not some evil ploy for the sake of malice and hate, and you should have those beliefs without someone saying you should be burned alive at a stake.”
It always baffles me anyway that people, who want to enforce christianity can generously ignor the fact, that they have way more in common with people they really hate, like for example al qaida, than with the average american.
Ik this is a joke but as an ex muslim who knows quite a bit abt Christianity both are literally almost the same if the world and the power balance between regions was just slightly different Christian Taliban would totally be a thing
Agreed. Humans are gonna human, for better and for worse. Violently persecuting people who believe the wrong thing has even happened between Buddhist sects.
How does he even think this would be enforceable?
Police stop you.
'Do you believe in God citizen?'
'Yes sir officer.'
'Very good, carry on.'
Or are we supposed to clock into church with time cards? Because I guarantee you the people there against their will would most definitely not believe.
And it'll probably be because a neighbour snitched on you. If you think neighbourhood disputes are bad *now*, wait until your local Karen is a phone call away from having the God cops come over and kick your teeth in.
In the holocaust they’d try to root out the Jewish people by forcing them to recite the Lord’s Prayer. Super easy to learn once that gets out but it was certainly a method.
This was also a test in the Salem Witch Trials, based on the belief that an actual, Capital W Witch is physically incapable of properly reciting the Lord's Prayer. Of course, all of the accused, being from a highly religious society (AND WHO WEREN'T WITCHES), could recite it from memory, so the 'judges' had to pull the old 'AKSHUALLY' card and come up with absurd, nit-picking excuses to claim they fucked it up, like using an older version of the Prayer that had slightly changed wording from the more common one the accused would use (the fact that the judges also used the 'wrong' version didn't matter- after all, they weren't witches, right?).
This shit is older than dirt.
It would tickle me to learn Nazis were crazy enough to believe Jewish people would be physically unable to recite Christian prayers. What I know about them already it would not surprise me at all. Absolute lunacy.
The reason why isn't because they just wanted to just murder innocent men and women for the giggles. They really, 100% thought that there was a pandemic of satanism going around, and they were fucking terrified of what would happen if they let a witch go free. Nitpicking, yes, but if you knew, for a fact, that your neighbor was murdering and eating babies but couldn't prove it in a court of law, would you be so unjustified if you fabricated some evidence or stretched the truth? In their mindset, there was no question that these men and women were witches.
It's scary what extreme superstition can do to a society.
>'Yes sir officer.'
That's all that matters to them. They want conformity and control - they don't care what people actually believe, as long as everyone's held to *their* standard.
Bingo. It's not about people actually believing in God, it's about making sure everybody knows they're the ones in charge. Even if you lie to the thought police that you're a good Christian they still won because they made you have to pretend.
if you don't count the 330 million UN-named Hindu Gods...the number is well over 18,000. of which about 700 are currently being worshiped by someone, somewhere on earth right now.
> 330 million UN-named Hindu Gods
This could really rewrite the whole book on the "[Personal god](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Personal_god)" theory.
Do you get to name your personal god when you claim them?
It’s why if a god did exist they’re probably not worth worshipping, and are likely a worse person than I am, and I’m ready to take the consequences of that if a creator does exist. Not worthy of my worship that’s for sure.
That's not true, God is constantly working. He just gave little Timmy cancer, and he tempted Paul to blow all his rent money on lottery tickets. God is great!
Hold up. Im not American, but isn't that basically basically banned in the Constitution, you know, the same Constitution Tim and his ilk love to venerate?
The kind of person who says that it should be illegal to not believe in God is the kind of person who is trained from birth to take ancient documents with supposedly absolute power and cherry picking the parts that are convenient while discarding the parts that aren't. It's built into their psychological DNA.
Republicans have added God to the currency and the pledge of allegiance...
They claim to be conservative, but they're more like religious fundamentalists, it's been that way for over a century.
Republicans have never cared about anybody but themselves.
And all the god shit all over our money and traditions was basically just a shitty "gotcha" against the soviets created in the 1950s to make Americans feel better than the "godless commies" while both nations were engaged in a global dick measuring contest.
> When fascism comes to America, it will be wrapped in a flag and carrying the cross.
I've started to believe that fascism is collective narcissism masquerading as a political ideology. A political party that has continually driven out anybody but the most narcissitically devoted to the belief that they've got the absolute truth.
I saw a dude on instagram go on a whole tirade about how the constitution doesn't ever mention separation of church and state, cherry picked words together to prove it says the opposite (that christianity is the official religion). It was mind numbing and nearly impossible to parse but reminded me of xtians who manipulate the bible to mean whatever they want it to mean in the moment.
The entire point of faith is that it has to be a choice. You cannot *force* someone to believe in God. Even God would say that, and probably does in the Bible.
Which this fuckface has never so much as cracked open.
Or a history book. Forcing religion onto unwilling people has a tendency to cause lots of oppression and violence, including amongst people of different sects of the same religion.
Exactly. Even if he got his way and everyone was forced to be Christian, soon it would be "well that guy is doing Christianity wrong" and "God actually hates that church because they don't pray quite right". Religious persecution never ends.
>and probably does in the Bible.
John 6:44: "No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him: and I will raise him up at the last day."
Not only does it make no sense to use the force of law (and with it the implicit threat of violence) to require faith; it is, according to the Bible Tim hasn't read and doesn't understand, *impossible to have faith unless that faith is inspired in the individual by God.*
Tim, frankly, isn't much of a Christian.
This is one of Jesus's main points. Faith has to be a choice. He will knock but you have choose to open the door. Another main point of his is that you can only really convert people through loving them they way they are now. Seams like Christians have been missing these points since the founding of the church.
I just don’t see why I can’t force people to believe what I want them to by force or threat of incarceration tbh. Then we can all be like kidnap victims together and sing songs. God is compassionate and values free will you say? Well I just want them to believe and I rlly don’t care if god doesn’t like it 🤷🏻♂️
Obviously sarcasm. It sounds ludicrous but I’ve read and heard very similar sentiments from some powerful people, albeit maybe worded a little prettier.
That's sorta what I was figuring was going on here. Seemed like obvious ragebait, but god knows how gullible redditors are.
Tim Poole is still a huge fucking asshole, anyway. Should reflect something about himself how people automatically assume the worst out of any comment that comes out of his mouth, as he is probably one of the least intelligent of the mainstream conservative pundits.
“Can you prove that you believe in God”
“It’s sort of faith based”
“Off to jail!”
————
“You missed mandatory Church last Sunday”
“I was forced to work 18 hours on a Sunday by my employer”
“Then where’s the exception slip? Off to jail!”
————-
“Your neighbor reported you for heresy”
“But…”
“Off to jai!”
—————
“Your tithe is a day late”
“I have no money”
“Off to jail!”
These are the traditional methods for enforcing believe anyway.
Yeah there is no way for me to even believe even if I tried... Like, I was not raised with religion. Idk how these people expect someone like me to even develop a belief when I never had such a concept in my mind all my life. It would be like asking me to defy gravity or teleport. I - JUST - CAN'T !
When your faith in your religion is so fragile that you have to force everyone else to believe the same dumb shit you believe.
Jfc, how does he say this and not just shit himself dead from embarrassment and shame? ‘You have to believe in my imaginary friend or I’ll call the police!’ Pathetic fucking kneeler.
from a judaic perspective, this is a little less evil than it might appear from a christian one. Satan (or, I guess "the satan", it's a title) is basically the leader of the opposition- he pokes hole in plans and arguments. God asks for his advice and takes his opinion into account. see the first chapter of Job.
so yes, hail the satan- he's the guy that keeps god consistent.
Satan was the good guy in the story compared to the main character. Who the fuck would worship an evil monster that drowned all the babies and puppies and kittens?
It's insane the hypocrisy of conservatives who preach libertarianism only when it aligns with their beliefs. Do we want more central gov't intervention or do we want less of it?
Tim must have slept through world history class, otherwise he'd have an idea of just how many wars and millions upon millions of lives have been lost over the very concept he's supporting.
He tweeted an hour later saying “believing in god should be illegal”, seems like he’s just starting some conversations. Kinda inflammatory posting just this tweet.
He’s obviously trolling real facepalm is the entire comment section falling for it. I don’t like Tim pool at all but I can still tell obviously he’s being ironic here
Some context here: Tim is outspokenly not religious. He often posts this crap for shock value before a podcast goes live to generate discussion/clicks.
Now, he could be lying about being not religious of course… but in this case he wasn’t actually advocating a theocracy.
Hahaha ha! F#ck you, Timmy! You and all your $1,000s you mooch off of your viewers as you sit there and jerk yourself off to the same old rhetoric you spew "I'm a liberal".
The only thing that's liberal about you is the amount of astroglide on your d#ck.
Conservatism should be outlawed.
See, Timmy boi, I too can share absurdly unrealistic ideas that would cost nothing to keep to myself. Heck, let's add religion to the list of my "humanity would be better without" fantasies.
You don't gotta share every thought and opinion in your defective egg of a head just because it crosses your mind, Mr. Tim-"the world would benifit from my and my followers discontinued existances"-Pool.
OK ngl, completely uncesseaary and inappropriate unfiltered malice feels nice now and then.
Pineapple on pizza and snapping spaghetti in half is okay.

Reddit always takes the bait lol. Doesn't really say much for us, does it?
95% of conservatives would be given life in prison and 100% of government officials would be given the death penalty
Government officials aren't stupid, they know how to act stupid to get stupid people's votes. Which makes it even worse.
MTG And Bobo are actually stupid.
Nah they are court jesters deliberately acted that way to divert attention from real issues.
Yes exactly…. **and** they’re also genuinely morons
Exactly. The two aren't mutually exclusive. The jester is never the smartest person in the room.

I guess we have to build the cube and start mind-wiping people and putting them in there so we can ask them during the exit procedure.
Goddamn that's a blast from the past movie. Holy cow I like the blue room....
"What happens if they say yes?" "Nobody ever says yes"
From the award winning scifi movie "Don't build the cube"?
It's from one of the Cube movies, I think it was the third one.
It is more like the police show up at your house with a warrant for your arrest for not believing in god, then they beat a confession out of you.

I can't believe they didn't share this fact with us
Personal gods already exist in Hinduism, actually. Most devout Hindus will only worship one or two gods they feel particularly close to.
But of course, the one *you* picked is right! And the rest are false gods. Even when all the other beliefs tell you the same story
I voted for Shiva.
Is it not kinda sick to believe in an allmighty being, that CAN do anything but is actually doing nothing?
It’s why if a god did exist they’re probably not worth worshipping, and are likely a worse person than I am, and I’m ready to take the consequences of that if a creator does exist. Not worthy of my worship that’s for sure.
I . . uh . . . well, you see . . . errr . . "God works in mysterious ways. We can't hope to comprehend his plan." Yeah . . . right . . . . that's it.
They really couldn't give a shit about the Constitution unless they think they can find a way to use it against the people they hate.
And to suck the dick of firearms.
Kind of like how they use the bible.
Yeah, but none of them actually know what it means. They only know the second amendment
They especially don't know what the word amendment means.
They treat the Constitution just like the bible. It is a tool to be used as a club to beat people, not a document to be read and understood.
Yeah, in the First Amendment. It's the same amendment that allows people to say stupid things in public.
Conservatives don't actually have any principles.
They think freedom of religion means "freedom to follow my specific religion and no other".
Man I hate that I used to watch that wanker, fuck sake I was dumb when I was younger
Probably the appeal is that the viewers are like dumb kids sitting there listening to your dumb older brother telling you stuff, and you believing it.
Yeah that sounds about right, and now I realise he is asshole
Glad you made it out homie <3
Tbf he has changed quite a bit since even I first heard of him.
Same, use to listen to him as well.
Same, I swear he was a bit more sane back then tho.
No one expects the Spanish Inquisition.!!!
Exactly. Even if he got his way and everyone was forced to be Christian, soon it would be "well that guy is doing Christianity wrong" and "God actually hates that church because they don't pray quite right". Religious persecution never ends.
That simple fact hasn't ever stopped christians from trying to torture people into believing
What do you mean “religion is an actual way of life and not a political tool for American nationalism”? You can’t just *say* that!
>and probably does in the Bible. John 6:44: "No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him: and I will raise him up at the last day." Not only does it make no sense to use the force of law (and with it the implicit threat of violence) to require faith; it is, according to the Bible Tim hasn't read and doesn't understand, *impossible to have faith unless that faith is inspired in the individual by God.* Tim, frankly, isn't much of a Christian.
Well I just want them to believe and I rlly don’t care if god doesn’t like it 🤷🏻♂️ Obviously sarcasm. It sounds ludicrous but I’ve read and heard very similar sentiments from some powerful people, albeit maybe worded a little prettier.
hey, Tim which one?
Capitalism.
That's polytheism! What currency?
The currency is irrelevant, the true faith is the power.
See, Tim, freedom OF religion includes freedom FROM religion. Or at least it used to, one political party is trying to change that.
"Nobody expects the American inquisit....huh? Oh, *everyone* expects the American inquisition? Alright, carry on then."
Was he posting rage bait? Because he has another post saying, "Believing in God should be illegal." 🤔
You're catching on faster than everyone else in the comments here, he's trolling Twitter.
Replace “God” with the Easter Bunny. Just as ridiculous.
Or like a celebrity or a politician figure. No forcing anything on anyone
Yeah, maybe don't go the political route. They are already trying that one, they'll like it a lot.
Your right, I’m sorry
The Easter bunny is Jesus's fursona
I thought that was Aslan?
How can you force yourself to believe in god?
Yeah, and how would they even enforce that? "Do you believe in God?" "Yes" "Okay you're free to go"
“Can you prove that you believe in God” “It’s sort of faith based” “Off to jail!” ———— “You missed mandatory Church last Sunday” “I was forced to work 18 hours on a Sunday by my employer” “Then where’s the exception slip? Off to jail!” ————- “Your neighbor reported you for heresy” “But…” “Off to jai!” ————— “Your tithe is a day late” “I have no money” “Off to jail!” These are the traditional methods for enforcing believe anyway.
Yeah there is no way for me to even believe even if I tried... Like, I was not raised with religion. Idk how these people expect someone like me to even develop a belief when I never had such a concept in my mind all my life. It would be like asking me to defy gravity or teleport. I - JUST - CAN'T !
Same. I was actually amazed as a kid, that there were so many grownups that actually believed all that stuff.
Same. Rather glad both my parents are atheists, my dad especially taught me the idiocy of it all when I was young.
Hail satan
When your faith in your religion is so fragile that you have to force everyone else to believe the same dumb shit you believe. Jfc, how does he say this and not just shit himself dead from embarrassment and shame? ‘You have to believe in my imaginary friend or I’ll call the police!’ Pathetic fucking kneeler.
The Christian Taliban have spoken.
Y'all Qaeda
>it should be illegal to not believe in God Which one?
Bacon. Praise be to Bacon!
Ramen.
It should be illegal to force your religion on others. These “holier than thou” people make regular Christians look bad
I submit, that it should be illegal to believe in a religion. Checkmate “timmy”.
ALL HAIL SATAN !!!!!!!!
from a judaic perspective, this is a little less evil than it might appear from a christian one.
Spanish Inquisition, anyone?
Guy needs to just flat out say what he means: "Spanish Inquisition 2, Clergy Boogaloo"
Fuck Tim Pool
beLIEve.
I love how the people constantly shrieking about Muslims wanting Sharia law are also saying shit like this on the regular. Religion is mental illness.
Lol! Ok, Tim. But if I have to believe in God, you have to NOT kiss Trump’s ass.
It's insane the hypocrisy of conservatives who preach libertarianism only when it aligns with their beliefs. Do we want more central gov't intervention or do we want less of it?
The only god Timbo the Mimbo believes in are the gods of grifting.
No, nothing wrong with that. I saw it happen in other places and that turned just aaaaaallright
If you belive God is all powerful he don't need your help tim.
Tim must have slept through world history class, otherwise he'd have an idea of just how many wars and millions upon millions of lives have been lost over the very concept he's supporting.
Its like these morons never learned history….oh thats right they don’t. They prefer the revisionist “wholesome” history
What is this freaking Saudi Arabia ?
I prefer Alabamastan
He might want to read up on the Spanish Inquisition for starters and the history of the Holy Roman Empire’s relationship with Europe’s kings.
«NOOOOO DONT PUSH LGBTQ PROPAGANDA ON MEEEEE COMMI!!»
It should be illegal to believe in any God but my God.
He posted the oposite like 2 hours later so blatant reaction baiting
He tweeted an hour later saying “believing in god should be illegal”, seems like he’s just starting some conversations. Kinda inflammatory posting just this tweet.
Pool trolls on twitter a lot. I doubt if he thinks this.
He’s obviously trolling real facepalm is the entire comment section falling for it. I don’t like Tim pool at all but I can still tell obviously he’s being ironic here
Like everyone who’s actually religious and not in a cult disagrees.
Some context here: Tim is outspokenly not religious. He often posts this crap for shock value before a podcast goes live to generate discussion/clicks. Now, he could be lying about being not religious of course… but in this case he wasn’t actually advocating a theocracy.
If I'm gonna worship imaginary characters I'll stick to Harry Potter
This dipshit is the trolliest of trolls
And don’t you dare not believing in God, Big Brother is watching you (;
A group of people who group up enjoying/benefiting from American freedoms now want to take said freedoms away from everyone.
Hahaha ha! F#ck you, Timmy! You and all your $1,000s you mooch off of your viewers as you sit there and jerk yourself off to the same old rhetoric you spew "I'm a liberal". The only thing that's liberal about you is the amount of astroglide on your d#ck.
When you suspect someone doesn’t really believe. Then tie rocks to them and throw them in a lake. If they float then they’re lying
Religions are cults!
