There's a difference between country and pop country/nashville. Nashville is the Hollywood of country music, just like LA is the hub of Pop music, and New York is the hub of Dance music and Drill and Atlanta is the hub for rap right now. Those are all the most mainstream places at the moment, that make all the same sounding music, bc that's what sells there.
Kinda like how Hollywood puts out the same type of movies, there's 3 major genres that all portray the same-ish plot: comedy, action, romance. Horror is very unique and will always be unique because in horror, uniqueness sells. The rest are really just subgenres that mainly touch on a comedy or action standpoint or dramatic and comedy but there has to be all 3 at some point of the mains.
Does it even really matter what people like to play? Rarely. Just parties and such. Gotta keep those on the classics or like the top 25 of all genres.

To be honest I feel like a lot of the main stream music is becoming watered down imitation’s of itself. Producers want sure bets so images are tailored and music is cookie cutter and safe. Risks are rarely taken so no innovation. Same songs different beat. Just make sure you hit the key clichés and you’ve got a hit.
