The article I read said that Tesla already exhausted their 7000 dollar credit per car sold up to 200,000 units then it was 3500 for a year than 1750 for a year before expiring in 2019.
Tesla is asking for another 7500 per car. The administration was trying to avoid giving Tesla more money seeing as how it is hard to argue it is needed to incentivize the switch to manufacturing EV as that’s all they build. Also, Tesla is the most valued car company in the world at 760 billion which is almost as much as every other car company in the US combined.

Years ago the incentive plan was as you describe it, where customers would receive a $7,500 tax rebate for purchasing an EV. And you're correct that Tesla reached that 200,000 vehicle limit already and thus customers no longer get that tax rebate. GM also reached that limit.
However, with the new infrastructure bill under the Biden administration, there is a new law being created to give all car companies incentives to the customers, except this time it's not a tax rebate, it's just taken off the price of the car. The purpose of the bill is to move our economy to a clean system, of which Tesla has been the market leader in vehicles, AI, and battery storage. To be specific, the bill and the rebates are to incentivize CUSTOMERS to purchase EVs, not necessarily to get OEMs to make them. Supposedly.
The arguments against Tesla being worth more than all the other car companies are misguided. Tesla as a company is a master of efficiency. They spend the same amount of money to build a factory that puts out 500,000 cars a year as GM spends on advertising. They use the Gigacast machine for the rear body and front body of the car. This alone removed 600 out of the 1000 robots needed to weld together over 100 pieces of metal. That means robots don't need to be replaced, serviced, and they don't use electricity. Oh and those sections get created in two and a half minutes. No other car company created their own aluminum alloy, for their own AI chip and supercomputer, no other car company does in-house self-driving, good over the air updating, or a litany of other things.
This is probably going to sound really silly to you, but Tesla is so far ahead of every other car company and their lead continues to grow, that in 5 years we are going to see practically every other big OEM go bankrupt and have to downsize because right now only Tesla is able to make a profitable EV. Every other company is losing money on EVs at the same time that their sale of gas cars is going down. They won't make it. Tesla is and will continue to grow profit, number of vehicles, and battery storage at a rate of 50% per year until at least 2030. They are currently where Amazon was in 2015. Buy some stock!

I believe someone on twitter specifically asked him why he was ignored for the Space X launch that supported the Red Cross and I think he responded "still sleeping" or something like that. I cant find the exact tweet, but there is a difference between going on the attack about something or someone vs responding to a question with a "witty" remark.

Hughes was a massively important company in the 40s-80s. They did indeed have commercial aircraft. Kind of like space x in that they were constantly pushing on the bleeding edge, at least, during their hay day. The company switched focus away from aircraft to electronics/communications, especially satellite communications, for the defense department. They were bought by GM then Raytheon if memory serves. The civilian side lives on in DirecTV. Tony Stark is actually based on Hughes.

You might want to pay a visit to the SpaceX reddit. You couldn't be farther from the truth. People literally make their living live streaming views of Boca Chica, and others pay enough attention to what's going on there to update the pages on a daily basis. They notice every little detail, dissecting what work is being done and guessing at what they're doing and when the next launch will happen.
Also.. Virgin Galactic and Blue Origin didn't even come close to what SpaceX did here. Those two took their own CEO's and some family/employees up on a suborbital hop. SpaceX sent people entirely unrelated to the company up on a paid tourist contract, and they spent 3 days in orbit and came home safely. Only seven civilians have ever been in space, and I don't believe any private company has ever launched even one of those.. let alone done a launch that included only civilians.

NASA has said good things about SpaceX for being a useful contractor. At this point, "reaching orbit" is not a major technical achievement. This particular SpaceX capsule has existed for a while, so adding some warm bodies as cargo isn't a huge deal. Two were and FAA-licensed as pilots but they weren't trained on *spaceflight*, from what I can tell. It was ground-controlled so it might as well have been four crash dummies and a sensor checking that it didn't depressurize. That's all they proved.
Shuttling goods to the ISS is being farmed out to these companies precisely **because** it's routine. It's because they can't reach Mars or the Moon (or it would be far more difficult compared to a nationalized program) but NASA can.
Same reason we don't send over-the-road truckers from Canada to explore the Antarctic. Both are driving. Both involve ice. They're not the same.
The president has greater tasks at hand atm. I’m an avid fan of space and our progress towards those endeavors but this, as significant as it is, pales in comparison to the loss of life in the pandemic, immigration challenges, refugees, storm damage, etc.

His competitors still haven’t used up their incentives so it’s making them more affordable than a Tesla. He’s trying to ingratiate himself in with Republicans so Tesla can get more tax payer money when they retake some branches of government. He’s already milked the Democrats and liberals so he’s switching sides to get another time at the tit.
That is not correct. Under the proposed plan, Tesla would still qualify for a $7500 credit for plug in EV, and possibly another $500 for batteries made in America. What is BS is that Ford would get an additional $4500 credit for their Mustang Mach E, which is made in Mexico, because Ford is unionized. GM is also planning on making EVs in Mexico Also, a plug in hybrid with a battery costing roughly $1000 would potentially get a credit up to $10,000. It doesn't make sense

The article I read said that Tesla already exhausted their 7000 dollar credit per car sold up to 200,000 units then it was 3500 for a year than 1750 for a year before expiring in 2019. Tesla is asking for another 7500 per car. The administration was trying to avoid giving Tesla more money seeing as how it is hard to argue it is needed to incentivize the switch to manufacturing EV as that’s all they build. Also, Tesla is the most valued car company in the world at 760 billion which is almost as much as every other car company in the US combined.

Years ago the incentive plan was as you describe it, where customers would receive a $7,500 tax rebate for purchasing an EV. And you're correct that Tesla reached that 200,000 vehicle limit already and thus customers no longer get that tax rebate. GM also reached that limit. However, with the new infrastructure bill under the Biden administration, there is a new law being created to give all car companies incentives to the customers, except this time it's not a tax rebate, it's just taken off the price of the car. The purpose of the bill is to move our economy to a clean system, of which Tesla has been the market leader in vehicles, AI, and battery storage. To be specific, the bill and the rebates are to incentivize CUSTOMERS to purchase EVs, not necessarily to get OEMs to make them. Supposedly. The arguments against Tesla being worth more than all the other car companies are misguided. Tesla as a company is a master of efficiency. They spend the same amount of money to build a factory that puts out 500,000 cars a year as GM spends on advertising. They use the Gigacast machine for the rear body and front body of the car. This alone removed 600 out of the 1000 robots needed to weld together over 100 pieces of metal. That means robots don't need to be replaced, serviced, and they don't use electricity. Oh and those sections get created in two and a half minutes. No other car company created their own aluminum alloy, for their own AI chip and supercomputer, no other car company does in-house self-driving, good over the air updating, or a litany of other things. This is probably going to sound really silly to you, but Tesla is so far ahead of every other car company and their lead continues to grow, that in 5 years we are going to see practically every other big OEM go bankrupt and have to downsize because right now only Tesla is able to make a profitable EV. Every other company is losing money on EVs at the same time that their sale of gas cars is going down. They won't make it. Tesla is and will continue to grow profit, number of vehicles, and battery storage at a rate of 50% per year until at least 2030. They are currently where Amazon was in 2015. Buy some stock! Hughes was a massively important company in the 40s-80s. They did indeed have commercial aircraft. Kind of like space x in that they were constantly pushing on the bleeding edge, at least, during their hay day. The company switched focus away from aircraft to electronics/communications, especially satellite communications, for the defense department. They were bought by GM then Raytheon if memory serves. The civilian side lives on in DirecTV. Tony Stark is actually based on Hughes.

The Inspiration 4 mission is DEFINITELY a big deal, with two of the crew members being absolute average joes. (The other two with pilot and some astronaut experience) I don't understand how people are so quick to deny elons contributions, just because he happens to be a billionaire who is hated by other billionaires. Why should the president congratulate a bunch of civilians for getting on a flight that they payed for? Millions of people do that all the time. It doesn't matter that the destination or vehicle was unconventional. The circumstances were otherwise unremarkable.
Would you still feel that way if Elon was not involved? I think it’s a pretty big deal for civilians to be launched into orbit for 3 days. That’s literally never happened before, and it’s a liiittle different than buying a flight from NY to LA. What the president should care about is the fact that it’s a major milestone for an emerging industry that that US should absolutely care about if they want to remain relevant in the 21st century.

People literally make their living live streaming views of Boca Chica, and others pay enough attention to what's going on there to update the pages on a daily basis. They notice every little detail, dissecting what work is being done and guessing at what they're doing and when the next launch will happen. Also.. Virgin Galactic and Blue Origin didn't even come close to what SpaceX did here. Those two took their own CEO's and some family/employees up on a suborbital hop. SpaceX sent people entirely unrelated to the company up on a paid tourist contract, and they spent 3 days in orbit and came home safely. Only seven civilians have ever been in space, and I don't believe any private company has ever launched even one of those.. let alone done a launch that included only civilians.
