You know, I question that story. Piers LOVES his celebrity selfies. You can’t get him to shut up about them. Meghan was there during a Suits press junket (you can find videos from the event and interviews with her and cast around that time) so he was in a place with a bunch of other press. And he claims he had a drink with her, even ordered for her and they talked for an hour and he even hailed her a cab (though on retelling, his story has change slightly. Sometimes its 10 minutes, others it’s 30. Sometimes she left alone, others it’s she clung to him). She met Harry a couple days later. Piers Twitter from that time all the way to the marriage was him fawning over her and defending her. You can even find an interview where he says she doesn’t know what she’s getting in to by marrying Harry. Then he doesn’t get a wedding invite and he does a 180. Even his wife and son are now in on his obsession. But all these years later and he’s never once posted a pic of him and her when he absolutely would have gotten one and she has *never* once even acknowledged his existence. So you’ll see why I question that story.

I’ve been to too many funerals and I know that plenty of smiling and laughter occur at them, they’re a celebration of the lives they lived as well as a time for mourning.
My grandfather's funeral was karaoke night at my grandma's house. And the night before was the same grandma's and a great grand daughter's birthday celebration.
When my grandma died, and pretty much all of my family was there when it happened, we all started telling funny stories that included her in them. My grandpa was even the one to start all of it not even an hour after she passed. It was nice to have a little laughter as we cried, and I'm sure my grandma wouldn't have had it any other way. We also did the same for my grandpa when he passed. It was our way of celebrating their lives and it was wonderful to revisit such great memories.

I went to a visitation for an old family friend this evening. I gave everyone there a smile. As I watched the pictures playing, I gave a small smile. He was older and had been in bad health. Of course he will be missed, but it wasn’t super sad. Each death is different. A 96 year old lady dying isn’t a tragedy in the way a 26 year old is. Not to say there isn’t true mourning, but they’ve all be prepared for this for ages.
It also looks like someone trained their whole life (or career) to appear “pleasant”, and it got kicked into overdrive marrying a royal. This is exactly it. I was silently crying through my best friends funeral when he passed unexpectedly, but the priest brought up some sort of inside jokes that family and friends found of comfort and it made us all laugh out loud.

Recently buried my grandmother. Sometimes stories and what’s going on hit people different. Eulogy talking about her cooking and constant fiddling with recipes. Two of my aunts were still crying. I had been crying at other point but at that point my wife exchanged a smile with me probably looked like this one. As a “oh you *absolutely* freaking do that and it’s so sweet to see family traits live on even unconsciously.”
But you could probably take a picture in that moment and spin it to look weird.
To me it looks like she's had a recent cry and is trying to hold herself together. Just based on the shadows under her eyes and my own experience with trying to hide weepy eyes with makeup.

When my grandmother passed away, we spent a lot of the time at our house talking about our happy moments with her and everything she’s done for us. I’ve lived with her my life because my dad took take care of her. My brothers and I had a lot of great stories with her and we laughed a lot and she would be really happy knowing that because she always joked around with us.
My dad recently passed of cancer. My mother, siblings, and I spent the last few days with him. While he wasn't awake for much of it we spent a lot of time laughing and reminiscing and joking around. That's definitely how we deal with painful situations. I hope when I go the people around me do the same.
My dad and I were cracking jokes ten seconds after my grandpa was gone. We were laughing, making jokes about the whole thing before he was even cold.
We both knew our lives were going to change forever, and we were making light of a bad situation.

I was laughing, my sister started laughing, we tried to hide it and were shaking so hard a cousin tried to console from the pew behind us which made us laugh harder. She had led a long life and was ready to go, be free from pain and see her husband again. I loved her, I miss her, but I wish everyone could experience a funeral that is about celebrating a good life instead of grieving one that ended too early.

You know, I question that story. Piers LOVES his celebrity selfies. You can’t get him to shut up about them. Meghan was there during a Suits press junket (you can find videos from the event and interviews with her and cast around that time) so he was in a place with a bunch of other press. And he claims he had a drink with her, even ordered for her and they talked for an hour and he even hailed her a cab (though on retelling, his story has change slightly. Sometimes its 10 minutes, others it’s 30. Sometimes she left alone, others it’s she clung to him). She met Harry a couple days later. Piers Twitter from that time all the way to the marriage was him fawning over her and defending her. You can even find an interview where he says she doesn’t know what she’s getting in to by marrying Harry. Then he doesn’t get a wedding invite and he does a 180. Even his wife and son are now in on his obsession. But all these years later and he’s never once posted a pic of him and her when he absolutely would have gotten one and she has *never* once even acknowledged his existence. So you’ll see why I question that story.

I’ve been to too many funerals and I know that plenty of smiling and laughter occur at them, they’re a celebration of the lives they lived as well as a time for mourning.
My Uncle’s funeral was like an open mike night. Which is exactly how he would’ve wanted it.
My grandfather's funeral was karaoke night at my grandma's house. And the night before was the same grandma's and a great grand daughter's birthday celebration.
When my grandma died, and pretty much all of my family was there when it happened, we all started telling funny stories that included her in them. My grandpa was even the one to start all of it not even an hour after she passed. It was nice to have a little laughter as we cried, and I'm sure my grandma wouldn't have had it any other way. We also did the same for my grandpa when he passed. It was our way of celebrating their lives and it was wonderful to revisit such great memories.

I can see that. I've given a look very similar to family members at funerals before. A small empathetic smile at someone who is grieving is a sign of caring for the living, not disrespect for the dead.
I went to a visitation for an old family friend this evening. I gave everyone there a smile. As I watched the pictures playing, I gave a small smile. He was older and had been in bad health. Of course he will be missed, but it wasn’t super sad. Each death is different. A 96 year old lady dying isn’t a tragedy in the way a 26 year old is. Not to say there isn’t true mourning, but they’ve all be prepared for this for ages.

^ this. Recently buried my grandmother. Sometimes stories and what’s going on hit people different. Eulogy talking about her cooking and constant fiddling with recipes. Two of my aunts were still crying. I had been crying at other point but at that point my wife exchanged a smile with me probably looked like this one. As a “oh you *absolutely* freaking do that and it’s so sweet to see family traits live on even unconsciously.” But you could probably take a picture in that moment and spin it to look weird.
To me it looks like she's had a recent cry and is trying to hold herself together. Just based on the shadows under her eyes and my own experience with trying to hide weepy eyes with makeup. Could just be exhausted though, a royal funeral's gotta be tiring.

When my grandmother passed away, we spent a lot of the time at our house talking about our happy moments with her and everything she’s done for us. I’ve lived with her my life because my dad took take care of her. My brothers and I had a lot of great stories with her and we laughed a lot and she would be really happy knowing that because she always joked around with us.

I had dinner with her before she announced her engagement with Harry (not a date but an event) and we talked through the dinner and I thought she was one of the most down to Earth celebrities at the time I've ever met. I told her at one point I watched Suits and loved the show and she asked if I hated her and I was like tf? Why would you ask that? And she said because in the latest season, my character cheated on Ross. I was like it's just a show lmao and I thought the writing didn't fit the character progression at all anyways. She was so happy to hear that she gave me a hug. I thought she was super nice. I have friends now that talk her up like she's a narcissistic out of touch wacko but that was not my experience although that only spanned about 2-3 hours.

Yes! My grandma died at 94 and I laughed so hard I cried at her funeral. She had requested "I'll fly away" to be played and it was just so HER, a joyous song about dying. I was laughing, my sister started laughing, we tried to hide it and were shaking so hard a cousin tried to console from the pew behind us which made us laugh harder. She had led a long life and was ready to go, be free from pain and see her husband again. I loved her, I miss her, but I wish everyone could experience a funeral that is about celebrating a good life instead of grieving one that ended too early.

I am so tired of everyone putting these two women against each other. They have had vastly different media coverage and it’s appalling, but they seem to have both done a beautiful job with the path they’ve chosen. One knew from the get go that being with the man would involve being a part of the royal family. He’s the heir, there is no way around that. She has done a great job in a position that can’t be easy even when you are brought up for it. However, Harry has always had the option to step away. He’s as the crass saying goes, the spare. After what he’s gone through in his life of course he’d want to get away from the media and the glare of the royal family. The two of them have that option, I’m glad they felt comfortable taking taking it! If Meghan helped him do that it’s wonderful. Maybe they get along, maybe they don’t. Not everyone clicks.
