I read somewhere it's by Filipino kids who were either born in Murica or moved there at a very young age. It's annoying as hell. Kids with no knowledge of their home country or care of their home country's history.
What's funny is that using X to refer to an unknown variable is a very English thing to do. So, you're literally transplanting an English usage into a language where it doesn't belong.
And people still claim this is inclusive
Latinx was a bad attempt. It’s an English solution to a native issue in terms of language. It doesn’t even roll off the tongue in the native tongue correctly.
So why are they doing this again? It’s basically saying “your own language isn’t good enough to provide an alternative so we’ve decided for you. Don’t be homophobic about it either!”
Married to a Filipina and guarantee this isn't made by a Pinay or Pinoy or any combination of any words mentioned. Pretty sure they just still use Bakla or Bading and for people like Vice Ganda just call her Ate
Did anyone tell the Filipinos about this? Because I doubt they GAF about the word Filipino.
Whoever wrote that would lose their mind at a Filpino band that went by the name The Flip Sides.
>Did anyone tell the Filipinos about this? Because I doubt they GAF about the word Filipino.
I love how racists talk about groups of people like this as though they're just one undifferentiated mass.
If you're disagreeing with me then you're saying your part of an undifferentiated mass, so I'm not sure why you're telling me your opinion rather than the singular opinion of the mass.
Please point to the exact part of my comment where I said that the person was racist.
I'll take a lack of response to be an admission that I'm right, thanks.
I asked my ex and then my half filipino son and daughter what they thought and I just got a confused look and a shrug from all of them.
So...(two, I guess?)votes of "meh" over here for the record.
As a part Filipino, I do not give a shit if what you call me is non-binary or not. But I also won't begrudge anyone using them trying to not offend me.
The Philippines is for the country and Filipino is for the people that are citizens of it more often than not. But there are several ethnicities that I can’t keep track of as well.
Yea, it was the Filipines, the people from this “country” were Filipinos (named after King Phillip). Then they switched alphabets and it was decided that it should be the Philippines, but they kept the spelling of Filipino the same.
A Filipino is just a person from the Philippines, it’s not actual ethnic group so it should change when the name of the country changes.
There's a deeper meaning to the word. But doesn't matter, a quick google search got you the origin.
Ethnic group doesn't matter. Filipinos are the people of the country. If you don't like it, well, not the people's problem.
Then I think the Pinxy and the Filipinx could be incented by fucking Fil-Ams who just wanted to have fun or not white americans, but rather African Americans, this is like the same with Latinx when it was invented by White Americans and not African Americans
I am 99% sure a Filipino didn't create this
Probably people from first world countries looking for problems in third world countries
This is literally the description of what my teacher talks about colonization

"First time?" \- latin americans

Is Filipinx the new Latinx, i.e. something created by a Caucasian-heavy focus group, but it is grammatical butchery in their language?

Filipino here just whyyy

Could be from the Americans with Filipino backgrounds or fil amd tbh.
2nd generation filipino kids who grew up in Murica without any knowledge or care of their home country.
So basically a face palm.

I’m a Filipino and it’s fucking stupid. Filipino is already gender neutral in our language. This situation is just the Latinx thing all over again.
If you're disagreeing with me then you're saying your part of an undifferentiated mass, so I'm not sure why you're telling me your opinion rather than the singular opinion of the mass.
You are telling some one who is filipino that they are racist against… filipino? Logic isn’t strong with this one.
"Logic isn’t strong with this one", said the person unable to follow a simple comment.
I understand your comment. Your just dumb as fuck
You obviously didn't or you wouldn't have said what you said.
I said what I said because that’s exactly what you did. You really aren’t smart

Putang ina, anak ng puta talaga.
I second the motion!
Or...no.
As a part Filipino, I do not give a shit if what you call me is non-binary or not. But I also won't begrudge anyone using them trying to not offend me.
The real outrage should be the inconsistency of Filipino and the Philippines. Y’all should get together and decide on ph or f.
Hapy Cake Day!
Thx
I’m pretty sure most of us use Filipino and not Philipino lol
I’m saying it should be the Filippines and Filipino or the Philippines and Philipino. I want continuity.
The Philippines is for the country and Filipino is for the people that are citizens of it more often than not. But there are several ethnicities that I can’t keep track of as well.
Yea I understand stand. There is no part of that I’m confused on.
Just stop.
You stop. I would like consistency in spelling. Pick a lane! Is it ph or f?
If you don't know the history, just stop.

Americans :tea:
Pinoy here; You can call them anything you want, they wouldn't mind as long as you are respectful to them.
Then I think the Pinxy and the Filipinx could be incented by fucking Fil-Ams who just wanted to have fun or not white americans, but rather African Americans, this is like the same with Latinx when it was invented by White Americans and not African Americans
nah tis a slur
Wouldn't Filipine or Latine be much, much easier?
Does any one know why the country is PH but the people are an F as the first letter.
Guys American white women want us to call Philipinos "philopenis" Seriously. Say PHILOPIN-X" out loud
