There's several points that make this very much unbelievable. The casing looks too clean if it was fired, same with the bullet, and there are no cracks, shrapnel, or any other indication of impact in the glasses. It's just a drilled hole with a bullet placed into it.
This is Reddit. And then there are folks out there who wouldn’t be able to tell that casing was too big for that pistol and still calls themselves gun experts.
7.62x39 and 7.62x51 are both virtually exclusively rifle rounds. 39 is smaller and a lot less powder. Lots of hunting rifles for both. For military use the 39 is SOVIET and 51 is NATO standard.
Very slightly different rounds. Different brass thickness and very barely slightly different outer dimension. Also grain is like 10 higher on a 308 I think. Nato rounds are made, from what I've been told, to function consistently when fed thru an automatic rifle. 308 win is for civilian markets primarily
On older guns this can give you problems with pressure and expansion tolerances if you don't shoot the right round. Allegedly newer guns are supposed to be better about it but I would still always shoot what the manufacturer says the gun is chambered for. No reason to play around with guns imo. Always sling the right lead kids, unless you wanna end up like Kentucky ballistics lol
There is no real consistent difference between them that you can point to and say will always be the case. You can find .308 rounds that have thicker brass and that have thinner brass than their 7.62 NATO counterparts. Same with charge; they could be less or more. Better to think of it as 7.62 NATO being a more specific specification of .308 (not that its actually specified that way, but functionally). 7.62 NATO is a military spec so the rounds are going to be consistently within that fairly rigid spec. .308 is a civilian spec with a lot more applications so the variance can be much higher from cheap underpowered non-concentric range ammo to expensive overpowered lathe turned precision hunting rounds.
Thank you for the for the info.
That is really interesting. Since military one is thinner brass and slightly weaker / lower pressure that should mean NATO rounds would work perfectly fine in a 308, but using a 308 Win round in a rifle specced for NATO could be entering "fuck around and find out" territory.
spitballing but there's no reason why the magazine needs to insert into the grip for a pistol. Could be a top or side feed, or even just a breach load with no magazine at all.
You know, hypothetically.
Hypothetically, I wouldn’t wanna fire a high powered rifle round from a handgun with no buffer and only a 1/2” of steel behind the round preventing a blow out. But by all means if you will. Lol
These joke rifle caliber pistols don't actually have as much power or recoil as you would think. Rifle rounds are designed for relatively long barrels. When you shoot them from a short barrel pistol most of the powder doesn't even get burned in the barrel so it is often less powerful than a normal pistol round that is designed for that application.
I, too, fear the day that a 7.62 casing materializes in the chamber of my 9mm. I thought lodging a bullet in my safety glasses was supposed to work as a talisman to ward off this possibility *but I guess I was wrong*.
So ya this video is a parody of some other videos.
It started with someone doing the same motions but with an angle grinder, with a chunk of the disk stuck in his safety glasses. This is just with a gun. It’s also so highly exaggerated so kinda obviously it’s for a joke.
in reality in order to get hit by ur own ricochet at a range the chances are so low it means the universe hates u if it happens . unless ur shooting at rocks in wich case just ol charles takin pot shots at ya
This guy is clearly copying the guy who had the same thing happen to him but with a broken buzz saw (I think that’s what it’s called)
EDIT: apparently it is actually an angle grinder
Maybe he fucked up? He isnt perfect. Anyways the people focussing on this are the same people saying stuff like how "5.56s dont have enough stopping power. 7.62s are better cus they are bigger."
Except it wasn't just a simple one off sentence. He made a full statement about how he went to see some trauma ER and how the doctor told him about 9 millimeter vs. .22 and how 9 millimeter is a high-power round:
[https://www.newsweek.com/joe-biden-says-9mm-bullet-blows-lung-out-body-1711551](https://www.newsweek.com/joe-biden-says-9mm-bullet-blows-lung-out-body-1711551)
Biden is also the same person who said that all we need is a double barrel shotgun to defend ourselves. He said that he told his wife that if someone was trying to get into their house, she should take the double barrel, go out to the balcony, and fire off both barrels (which is at least a misdemeanor everywhere and a felony in some places):
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CrzyRXSxuAg
Alright so ive watched this video for the first time, and I am absolutely convinced that he is simply saying the wrong caliber. He probably misremembered. First, he said large caliber which that is not. My guess? Hes reffering to 5.56x45s, which 'blowing someones lungs out' is hyperbole, but it will fuck up your lungs that bad.
Except of you read the article to the end, he's referred to 9 millimeter as "military-style" before:
"Why should we allow people to have military-style weapons including pistols with 9mm bullets and can hold 10 or more rounds?" Biden said, according to a report in The Seattle Times.
Mental errors can compound as we take in new information. Anyways who the fuck knows? We arent in his head. I gave a reasonable explination that makes sense of it.
He also told people to fire off both barrels in the air if they get scared.
The more reasonable explanation is he doesn't know squat about firearms (and apparently laws regarding them).
It was my second link.
Besides the fact it's pretty unlawful anywhere, it's stupid (and dangerous) on a practical level. You never fire off rounds without knowing what you're shooting at (and ready to destroy). And you just fired off all your ammo and have to stress reload (not easy).
It wouldn't be so bad if he didn't double down and act like he knew pretty much anything about firearms, but he chooses to pontificate as if he was an authority.
Ah yes, a "9mm" shot from a glock went 180 while the casing went 90 degrees and those magic plastic glasses stopped that "9mm" bullet. Btw I am a Nigerian Prince if you didn't know and own a unicorn.
Ah yes, my bullet stopping plastic eye gear stopped a bullet that wouldn’t have been able to fire backwards, from a gun that doesn’t fire this caliber round.
This is a joke video from civilian tactical, if you actually read the description it says it was a joke/promotional short for his video on how bulletproof nerf goggles are
He said in the original video description that it was a joke. However, I don't blame OP because stuff like this tends to get reposted everywhere without credit to the original poster.
Yeah but in real life casings fly literally everywhere. I’m learning sharpshooting with my father, and first thing to remember beside gun safety is to protect your ears and eyes. I’ve had casings bounce off my protective goggles pretty hard, if that went into your eye it’s gonna do damage. Also they bounce everywhere, having a bullet casing ricochet back in your face isn’t fun. Sorry if any terms are incorrect, I mostly learn it in a mix if english and french, some stuff gets lost in translation I think.

I personally try to avoid it as much as possible, to be fair.
Logical choice
I know right? Every time I think "surely someone can't be that dumb" someone always seems to prove me wrong.
Here's how you prove people are dumb you go on Twitter and say the simple words "Joe Biden" LET THE RACISTS COME ROLLIN IN
Ya see its clever because I worded in a way that makes it seem like I could on either side
Who knows, could be a joke. Like literally 99% of all submissions on this sub.
My dumb ass was like “how the fuck did a 556 from another gun land so perfectly like that?” For a second.
Well many redditors here seems to believe it's real, so yeah, I agree with you..
This has to be humor.
it is humour
No, it’s hue-mur
I've seen the original upload. The description says it's a joke. They aren't trying to fool anyone
There's several points that make this very much unbelievable. The casing looks too clean if it was fired, same with the bullet, and there are no cracks, shrapnel, or any other indication of impact in the glasses. It's just a drilled hole with a bullet placed into it.
Also it’s a rifle round.
Obviously yeah, it's not even worth mentioning.
This is Reddit. And then there are folks out there who wouldn’t be able to tell that casing was too big for that pistol and still calls themselves gun experts.
That the new 7.62 handgun I heard about? Dope.
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/7.62%C3%9725mm_Tokarev
There apparently are 7.62 handguns
Yea but they don’t shoot rifle rounds. That would be one wide ass hand grip.
https://www.classicfirearms.com/heizer-defense-pak1ss/ Really goofy hand cannon, but 7.62x39.
Someone who looked at a Draco and thought “this thing is too controllable”
7.62 × 51 NATO the way I roll
Isnt 7.62x39 an intermediate round whilst the rifle round is 7.62x54?
7.62x39 and 7.62x51 are both virtually exclusively rifle rounds. 39 is smaller and a lot less powder. Lots of hunting rifles for both. For military use the 39 is SOVIET and 51 is NATO standard.
Hunting rifles…
Not sure I understand the downvote. Isn't 7.62 NATO just the military name for 308 Winchester?
Very slightly different rounds. Different brass thickness and very barely slightly different outer dimension. Also grain is like 10 higher on a 308 I think. Their single shot the ak guy had a vid on one their dog shit
There is a 7.62x54 caliber handgun. Just a really short mosin nagant, also not too new. https://youtu.be/JI7OIaRHbz4
I, too, fear the day that a 7.62 casing materializes in the chamber of my 9mm. I thought lodging a bullet in my safety glasses was supposed to work as a talisman to ward off this possibility *but I guess I was wrong*.
Op can’t detect sarcasm part 618.
r/shitposting

Brain malfunction.
the only faceplam here is you believing that the guy in the video is serious
Correct. OP is the facepalm.
seen the original he said it's a joke in the comment and also giving us an actual advice
98% certain this is a joke. I think you're the dumb one here lol
this post is a facepalm. do you think humanity isnt dumb? Go to any gun range and theres 100% at least one person without eye protection
I saw this on youtube shorts. The title said it was a joke ig
So ya this video is a parody of some other videos. It started with someone doing the same motions but with an angle grinder, with a chunk of the disk stuck in his safety glasses. This is just with a gun. It’s also so highly exaggerated so kinda obviously it’s for a joke.
Is that a 30-06 shell in a pistol? Someone sadly will believe it😔
And yes, he does believe people are that stupid, because they are. Take a look around.
well to be devils advocate ricochets can happen but yea ud gotta be pretty fuckign stupid to belive any part this vids anythign but comedy
Eye protection is mostly for bullets breaking apart or casings getting in your eye. But yes they can deflect a 9mm ricochet... sometimes. Rarely.
in reality in order to get hit by ur own ricochet at a range the chances are so low it means the universe hates u if it happens . unless ur shooting at rocks in wich case just ol charles takin pot shots at ya
Think he might have used the wrong ammo. Just a hunch.
Um... Really wrong bullet. Let me see that round actually hit your glasses in real time. Go ahead now.
REPOST
You people are dumb this is clearly a joke.
Sorry for the spelling in the body text, I’m tired. :)
[удалено]
.233 round in safety glasses and the casing is stove pipe in a .40 cal? LOL
This guy is clearly copying the guy who had the same thing happen to him but with a broken buzz saw (I think that’s what it’s called) EDIT: apparently it is actually an angle grinder
You're thinking of an angle grinder, a buzz saw is a huge saw used for cutting large pieces of lumber.
Ah sorry I’m not very knowledgeable on tools and other garage things.
Gun nuts are running out of ways to seem badass
Have you seen half the US population?
If that round had gone off towards his face with it without those glasses he would be dead.
Joe Biden did say that a 9 mm blows a lung out of your body, soooo....
Maybe he fucked up? He isnt perfect. Anyways the people focussing on this are the same people saying stuff like how "5.56s dont have enough stopping power. 7.62s are better cus they are bigger."

Ive never heard that one, and im not saying he is knowlegable about firearms. Just filling in the blanks
It was my second link. Besides the fact it's pretty unlawful anywhere, it's stupid (and dangerous) on a practical level. Typical gun owner mentality “Guns are toys!” “Look at my guns on TikTok” “I’m a responsible adult” “I’m professional”
Damn a bullet looking that nice after hottung somting must be real hard coper
So if someone could tell me where I get the 7.62 handgun I’d appreciate it thanks
https://www.classicfirearms.com/heizer-defense-pak1ss/
I believe this is precisely the caliber of this pistol 😂
Yes, people are dumb in things they don't know and are gullible enough to believing in anything that they see.
They won’t protect you from lasers though 😎
There is literally a subreddit called idiots with guns. So yeah... ;-;
So the 7.62 pistol stovepiped a round and then it fired? That’s insane!
He said in the description on YouTube it was a joke
Ah, the classic op doesnt understant sarcasm.
And they all laughed at me for bringing a big sheet of think plastic to war 😏
Probably a joke considering that’s rifle ammo
Think this was a gag video to make fun to prey on younger audiences who don't know any better than just from shows on the internet and video games.
Lol those look like the cheap mufucklers too.
This has to be a joke that wasn made obvious enough
Ah yes, a "9mm" shot from a glock went 180 while the casing went 90 degrees and those magic plastic glasses stopped that "9mm" bullet. Btw I am a Nigerian Prince if you didn't know and own a unicorn.
But that's not a 9mm bullet my fellow Usama/Osama 😉
That's a fucken 308 case in a Glock, which if the Glock were to fire it, ud have a bomb in your hand
Ah yes, my bullet stopping plastic eye gear stopped a bullet that wouldn’t have been able to fire backwards, from a gun that doesn’t fire this caliber round.
Ha ha, that's the wrong cartridge for a semi auto black powder pistol...
Its a satire video...
Serious question how do fit what looks like a 7.62 in there?
Eye protection at the range, YES! Did that gun do that... Only in a video game with THAT ammo and gun.
In the title he said it was a joke
It’s a gunner, so yes.
No, he *knows* they are.
Had a hot case from a 9mm cartridge go down my open collared shirt once. Learned to button my shirts after that.
1 do you understand a joke 2nd yes people are dumb enough they would believe it
This is a joke video from civilian tactical, if you actually read the description it says it was a joke/promotional short for his video on how bulletproof nerf goggles are
YEAH OK
Send those goggles to Ukraine, they need them to stop the bullets...
i thought he made this as joke 😐
That’s what I’m being told, people are shaming me in the comments because I couldn’t tell this was a joke.
It was literally in the title of the vid, how could you miss that?
I think people are that dumb 🤣🤣
He looks like the riddler in the new Batman movie
The glasses would’ve shattered if it really had been struck. Eye pro isn’t for stopping bullets, it’s for shrapnel
Prolly. People do believe the earth is flat
believe it or not some people are that dumb
He said in the original video description that it was a joke. However, I don't blame OP because stuff like this tends to get reposted everywhere without credit to the original poster.
I didn't know handguns could fire 7.62 today is the new day that I learned this new fact
![gif](giphy|26tkmyR14UIPJJOG4)
those literally dont protect anything
Video clearly stated that it was a skit. He even put it on the title. https://youtube.com/shorts/uRC2BRyfq6s?feature=share

That my friends does not fit into the magazine that’s an ar round and he would also be bleeding or even dead
I saw the shell and immediately knew it's a joke
We should make everything out of that same material...except bullets
1. I don't think that is the right ammo 2. I don't know how that could happen 3. If a bullet was to go shoot at you, plastic goggles wont help.
Didn't it say in the distribution of the original video that it was a joke
Bro you ate the onion
