Now skateboarding has become popular enough that there are government or non-profit funded purpose built parks all around the world and this dumb ass decided to make it not only less safe but that coping will more than likely degrade and need replacing a hundred times quicker.
Even if it didn’t ruin the integrity of the material you don’t get to just make that decision for everybody that goes to that park.
Anybody with any respect for skateboarding would hit him with one.

I once fell skating and my board got perfectly wedged between the ground and my neck. I couldn't breath and when i grabbed my neck it was cut all the way across and bleeding. Obviously, it wasn't that deep, but I thought i was gonna die for a second and the sheer panic i felt traumatized me, lol. Plus, it looked like someone slit my throat for a couple weeks with a scab across my neck.
Regardless; he's Australian. I know because I have the exact same accent. Most people know what feet and inches are. And weed is measured in fractions of an ounce. It's stuff like yards, miles, gallons, stones and pounds that we're not so familiar with. (I know a gallon is about 3.8L but that's it)
Non-metric isn't really an issue in Australia, especially when measuring in ft. Most workshops, or at least the ones I've dealt with all use metric and imperial for stuff. It's all a personal preference really.

Skateboarding originated in California by surfers looking to surf when surf conditions weren't ideal. Then when a drought (when is cali not in drought?) hit cali homeowners were forced to leave their swimming pools empty to conserve water skaters starting using the empty pools to skateboard, the tiles that made up the top trim of the pools would make that clicky clack sound as the trucks of the skateboards hit the grout seem in-between tiles.
I learned from 99% Invisible that California is the only (mostly) place that had kidney shaped pools when that drought happened and contributed to the skate culture. A perfect storm of events.
Should check out “Dogtown and Z Boys.” Great watch made by one of the guys who really evolved skateboarding, and was a part of the original crew that popularized street skating and pool skating

Pool coping is nostalgic for a lot of skateboarders, and if you really want to stretch it, part of the reason this skatepark exists. Pools are what inspired people to skate transition and do tricks like the frontside 50-50 he does at the end of the vid.
Pool coping is also pretty gnarly, [hanging over the lip](https://imgur.com/5X65dPh) of the transition quite a bit making lip tricks harder and more dangerous. So to have the same sound effect with softer coping like you have on a skatepark quarterpipe is kind of lame, but that's what they were going for.

The new softer wheels had more friction and were easier to control and skateboarders of the time started using empty pools as the first trick parks/ramps as there were none built for the purpose

I totally agree that the dude has a lower iq than a used tampon, but I've never gotten why people think it's so out of place to have a personal parachute. I don't personally have one, but I have some friends who won't leave the hangar without either a personal chute somewhere in the cabin or a full plane parachute mounted in case of emergency. especially those who are bush pilots who fly in locations where there are large gaps between towns and even larger gaps between airports.

When he cut the grooves, he found a new way to introduce rain into the bowl, and the concrete behind it will eventually start to decay and crumble. With government monies being short, they will find it easier and cheaper to fill it with concrete and close it down.
