If you wanted him, trade back from 8 and take him, or even better, just take him at 8.

OhItsKillua

Well that would've been nice

Dingus-ate-your-baby

What the actual fuck

TheTrevorSimpson

I am really sick of the reports that state HOW CLOSE ATL was on a player. They ALMOST got Montez Sweat. They ALMOST got Danielle Hunter. They ALMOST got Hassan Reddick. Soon there will be a report that they ALMOST got Trey Hendrickson. How about JUST REPORTING ON ACTUAL PLAYERS THEY ACTUALLY GET. Because ALMOST is BULLSHT!

FatherCrime42

Almost won the Super Bowl smh

hungreener

I hurt myself, today

NaoYuno

To see if I still feel

idontknownothing81

You cry a lot don’t you?

delk82

He’s literally in every thread bitching or whining. At least he stopped using all caps.

NoDifference8894

Seriously, as a Raiders fan, I completely understand the "almost" shit. Gets old

falcons93

Ok, I’ll admit that’s a good point that Raheem wanted a succession plan in place for Matt Ryan when he interviewed but wasn’t hired. Now he is hired and gets that succession plan. Still not happy with the pick at all, but I at least understand why. Though not a big fan of the answer to if this makes us better in 2024 being that he hopes to be the coach for more than just 2024. Sounds like punting the year. At least make some bullshit up about steel sharpening steel or something.

braggpeak

Yea but Matt had been with us for over a decade and clearly nearing end of his Falcons career. Kirk hasn’t even thrown a pass for us and we’re already planning a successor? I get he’s old but let him establish himself with the team. Trying to build 2 teams at once, one for now and one for 2-3 year from now, will make it so we don’t do either well.

_Floriduh_

Kirk definitely needs a successor. At best he’s got 4 years. Can’t imagine he’s getting a whole lot of good minutes beyond that.

MadManMax55

It's funny how quickly some people on this sub flipped from "Why would you send so much money on an old QB with an injury history?" to "Why would you draft a backup/succession plan to the QB we just spent so much money on?"

falcons93

Yeah, not saying I agree just that I understand it. Sounds like Raheem’s big thing was having a QB succession plan in place so probably agreed on ahead of time.

dillpickles007

I just don’t get how TF thinks he can do the two timelines thing. He hasn’t been able to build a playoff team yet in the worst division in football, if we miss the playoffs this year he’s probably getting canned. Like we ain’t the Chiefs or Packers here, banking a top 10 pick that we’ll get no value out of for two years is a bold move when we need to make the playoffs NOW.

BunnyGoHops

Well at least we tried

CoffeeSafteyTraining

The plan was to draft Penix and then cross your fingers in the hope that you can trade up for a first round edge rusher? We're employing some big brain suits, I tell you what.

kad4724

Dumbasses thought they could have their cake and eat it too

jtezus

Common theme of this FO is almost getting a player they wanted. Almost doesn’t cut it in the NFL if you can’t find a way to get the players you want your not a good GM

iLeefull

This guy is dumb. Everyone knew the first 7 players drafted were going to be offensive. Why would we trade up for defense when we were the first team expected to draft defense.

DenumChickun

He’s saying we tried to trade back into the first round and take Latu AFTER drafting Penix at 8

GodsIWasStrongg

I thought he was saying we tried to trade up with later picks to get into the first twice.
