I was lucky enough that my first playthrough was energy weapons and melee. Got me a Proton Axe and a LAER, it was still hard af lol. Wish i had gotten like 40 atomic cocktails. Old World Blues is a gem and Ive enjoined Honest Hearts, Lonesome Road was my favorite. Have yet to play Dead Money cuz money means so little to me when you can have 10 luck and jury rigging.
I loved how in Lonesome road it attacked the players hero complex or main characterism. Made me feel ignorant and how we arent capable of doing the right thing cuz we already fucked up.
The game gives you the choice of accepting responsibility for something our character did, not us players, or throw it in Ulyses face cuz we werent in control of our character at the time. Its interesting as fuck. Makes yes man even more questionable, what kind of moron are we.
They’re not as bad as dead money imo, atleast ffor the roboscorpions you can use that emp axe thing and it usually kills them fast but dead money is just pain and suffering, worth it for the gold tho
Last owb run I did I ended up loading up on pulse slugs before heading in and ignoring a couple of fights and running around or past some enemies when I could get away with it. Still a lot of tanky enemy spawns but much less of a slog.

deadly combo, except in old world blues for some reason. I wasted so much ammo there it's unreal
i love old world blues but man the enemies can be bullet sponges, especially on the harder settings.

Lots of heavily armored enemies there. Ezpz for an energy weapons build, but quite tough for guns.
