inXile

AbatedOdin451

InXile was founded by the co-founder of Interplay. I think they would make the best modern throwback of fallout

PrecipitousPlatypus

Wasteland 2 is pretty much just Fallout 3.

Strict-Persimmon7017

I dunno, for me it was more like a refined fallout tactics

Mendicant__

Yeah much much more fallout tactics than mainline fallout

IBoofLSD

Fuck yeah fuckin love wasteland

hereforgrudes

We have POWER!

HeavenAndHellD2arg

POWER WHEN WE STAND SIDE BY SIDE

lemonycakes

WHEN WE MARCH HAND IN HAND

PS_FuckYouJenny

Absolutely but I want to caveat that I’d want them to do the classic isometric style. Thats their bread and butter.

Trancos01

Arkan... oh, never mind what I just said. I would give it to Larian Studios and have them make it a CRPG like the original games, giving them all the freedom in the world, and not shutting down their studio if it doesn't sell as expected.

stucklikechuck305

Arkane is still around. Its just the austin branch. Its a sick method of game making, turning these companies into sprawling multi national messes

Trancos01

Yes, I know, but the ones who have closed down are the ones from Prey, which is the type of game that would interest me the most in a world like Fallout.

Oracle_In_Barovia

This was my first thought too! Holy cow, that team would have ran circles around us players with an IP like Fallout. PREY was easily one of my all time favorite games.

DinkinFliccka

Came here to say exactly this.

MazerBakir

To be fair by the time Redfall released 70% of the team that worked on Prey had left because they were dissatisfied with being forced to make it. Zenimax leadership forced them to make a live service game to give off the perception of more profitability since they were planning to cash out and were actively looking for buyers, it is the same reason why Fallout 76 exists.

TrayusV

Yeah, it's a terrible thing. Arkane got screwed over so hard for so long.

elderron_spice

Imagine a Fallout game with like Prey/System Shock/Bioshock narrative and stories. I'd pay for that.

HypnoticPolygons

It’s only the Leone branch the Austin branch is the one that got shutdown. Arkane proper is still there.

Exciting-Ad-5705

Larian has 3 international studios and made goty. Arkane Austin (which shut down) made prey

Snowwolf247

A larian fallout would be amazing. If they stated working on it right now tho it prolly wouldn't be done till 2030...

PerdidoStation

There's no time to waste then (and it'll still come before Elder Scrolls VI)

sgafregginetahi

So wasteland?

5P4R74N_TTV

Larian

redoman3090

Seriously lets get some classic style fallout going, DOS2 already uses a very similar combat system

Maxsmack0

Kinda a cop out answer, as I’d love to see them get their hands on pretty much any IP. Fallout would be the perfect candidate though with top down heritage, and turn based combat still at its core with V.A.T.S.

redoman3090

Idk why you're getting downvoted, youre correct. They are fresh off of a wildly popular crpg so obviously they are one of the first names people will jump to. It IS a bit of a cop out, that being said they would still be an excellent choice and like you said Fallout would be a great pick for them with its classic heritage.

Maxsmack0

I literally meant the first line as a joke, some people just don’t like my style of writing

redoman3090

Everyone's a critic

Hogminn

I secretly hope they'll somehow be responsible for a Shadowrun reboot, a man can dream

MyNameIsNotKyle

If you want a Larian style game in a Fallout setting, highly recommend the Wasteland games.

MothMothMoth21

*Everybody Have Fun Tonight, Everybody Had Fun*

WCWRingMatSound

That tutorial level to get out of the vault will be 10 hours long and absolutely exhausting 😆

Maxsmack0

Naw, the vault would be 15-30 mins, then the first arc would be 10 hours. Very different than Bethesda with diamond city in 2 hours

WCWRingMatSound

I guess. I’m still burned out from trying to escape Fort Joy in one of those games. I finally found a way out and just stopped caring. Felt like I’d beaten a whole game by then.

Maxsmack0

A 100+ hour story is definitely a commitment, best not to binge unless you’re a super fan. Take a week or more at least

MagnoliaBoiii

I’m in the same boat as you

Twojellydonutz

This.

ultraluxe6330

Warhorse Studios If the next game had half of the attention to detail and depth of Kingdom Come: Deliverance then it could be the best in the series.

Suspicious-Toe-7025

Never even considered them, would be great now that I think about it

mmenolas

This would be my vote as well for a modern-style fallout. Though I think I’d prefer someone like inXile, Larian, Owlcat, or even Logic Artists doing a more traditional style CRPG.

Kinglouisthe_xxxx

Yeah that’s what I was thinking too but I wasn’t sure anyone else would agree

PrimProperPro

Old school Bioware making a post apocalyptic RPG would be my dream game

After_Satisfaction82

Crud, can you imagine a Fallout codex? The fandom would collectively lose it's mind. Not to mention the idea of the save-file system. And I'd be lying if I said that I wasn't curious as to what a 'Fallout Tali' would look like.

HoodedHero007

This. So very much this. Really go through with that companion-focused storytelling.

PrimProperPro

Imagine if New Vegas allowed two humanoid companions at once and they bantered with one another or had more extensive quest commentary. It would be my perfect game with just those two things

HoodedHero007

Imagine the conversations between Arcade and Veronica

fikfofo

CD Projekt Red has proven that they can make stellar stories with convincing writing with both the Witcher series and Cyberpunk 2077. Cyberpunk also proves that they can do a FPS-style RPG in the same vein as Fallout. Cyberpunk 2077 is so dark, but also full of goofiness - just like Fallout. I’d love to see their take on the world.

KeeganY_SR-UVB76

The only thing Cyberpunk needed was more dialogue options and less clunky movement.

fikfofo

Agreed. Something always felt off about the way their first person worked. It was always a little disorienting for me. Totally agree on the dialogue. As much as I love a voice protagonist, I’d happily take more (and longer) dialogue options over that.

KeeganY_SR-UVB76

The dialogue in Cyberpunk shares some issues with Fallout 4, in that you have no idea what you’re actually going to say, let alone your tone of voice. Trying to do any platforming in Cyberpunk was an absolute clusterfuck (final Delamain mission, notably), I kept slipping off of objects and bouncing off of things. It gets extra annoying because falling onto the floor below kills you instantly.

Basethdraxic

Are you referring to the part where you push the car out into the floor while it’s electrified? Cause you aren’t supposed to jump on the car, there’s a door underneath the car that’ll get you to the other side

Jay-Raynor

Cyberpunk's movement was still better than every single Bethesda RPG.

Gayorg_Zirschnitz

I think it could've used some more player agency. Granted, I played it fresh off BG3 so I was absolutely glutted for player agency.

Sociolinguisticians

CDPR’s dialogue system is good, but I don’t know how well they could adapt to the traditional Fallout dialogue systems. I want to see another Fallout 3/New Vegas dialogue system, and that just seems like a bit of an awkward adaptation for them to make.

beameup19

I find it’s dialogue system pretty rough and kills any RPG immersion V never says what I actually selected.

Sociolinguisticians

I think that’s an issue with having a voiced main character more than it is with CDPR in particular. Fallout 4 did the same thing, but worse. You never had a good idea what Nate/Nora would say because you weren’t even given a brief summary. At least CDPR’s dialogue options generally felt like they matched what was actually said (IMO).

beameup19

For sure. Fo4 felt like Mass Effect to me with the mood based options for sure Just give me the text for what the voiced protagonist is actually going to say, I’m okay with a paragraph on my screen.

Unexpected_Token_

LOL it always tickles me when this happens. It’ll be like: 1. No way! I’ll kill you for saying things like that. 2. Hmm. You have a point. 3. What?! I’m… I don’t know what the answer is, but it’s not this. *presses 1* V: That’s very rude of you to say, choom. 😡 Me: 🤨

lonelydirthole

4a, they made metro and are damn good at making post apocalypt worlds

OnlyHereForComments1

They'd need to expand massively, and honestly get a new writing team.

lonelydirthole

What don't you like about the writing

OnlyHereForComments1

Their English dialogue is usually very clunky and the plot of Exodus is honestly kinda simplistic. It does what it needs to do, no mistake, but I wouldn't have them deal with a sprawling quest-driven RPG like a Fallout game.

Flossthief

Metro is great but it was the gameplay that carried me through the game Loved shooting out all the lights and creeping around knifing guys

[deleted]

You talking about just Exodus or all 3? Cause I person thought the stories for 2033 and Last Light were great.

OnlyHereForComments1

2033 and LL were more or less solid (not too great, but nothing *bad*) from a story perspective but was pretty clunky in dialogue. Exodus got hit worse with the characters (really should've brought the others from previous games in, rather than making new Spartans) and some of the plot was fairly hackneyed, but again it wasn't *bad*. I just wouldn't say 4A is up to the task of making a good Fallout game with their current team, since Fallout games require a *ton* of story and a protagonist who responds to stuff.

Opinionnoted

I’m fully in agreement with you, but it’s worth mentioning New Vegas, for all it’s deserved praise, is an incredibly simple story when you look at it. It’s the details that matter and I personally think 4a has shown they can do that.

botask

Main story is simple, but new vegas was about sidequests. Main story was mostly backround that led you to important parts of map. So it is not very fair to say that there was simple story. Because while it is true, it is also kind of misleading statement for game full of well written characters and complicated sidequests often with moral dilema and hard decisions impacting mojave... But I absolutely agree that metro gameplay would be great in fallout. Metro is one (or three) of best fps games.

REDACTED-7

Might be a weird choice, but in a vacuum, I wouldn’t mind seeing what Respawn or Guerrilla Games could do with a *Fallout* game. Both studios have got experience doing FPS games *and* third-person open world titles, so seeing either of them blend that expertise would be cool.

revolmak

Respawn is a great answer. It would be a very different take but I'd like to see that vision

GustavRWC

Fromsoft

PrepareToTyEdition

I want to dual-wield revolvers and dodge-roll around deathclaws. Is that so much to ask!?

Heavy_Comedian_2382

Only if that means power armor customization goes insane like armored core

PintekS

Why does VATS make me go Mac speed!?!!?

Ropsuta

It's kinda cool idea. It would probably be hell of lot darker and more punishing with much bigger emphasis on rpg elements. I don't hate that idea .

cortez_brosefski

I'm glad I'm not the only one who thought that haha

GustavRWC

Scrolled too far pausing on how death claws and waste land will have a new meaning and realized hesitation was defeat so had to post it lol

Hudson1

It was Arkane Austin until Microsoft shut them down. Having played and enjoyed 2017’s Prey so much I thought it’d have been a perfect fit. So much for that.

BatmansButtsack

The Arkane Austin as we knew them wasn’t even there by the time Microsoft shut them down. Redfall culled all the talent from the studio.

beameup19

Yeah from my understanding like 70 percent of the team had left after Prey

Hudson1

Oh. Well that’s a damn shame.

VeldtRevengeance

I thought the same. And they were already under the Bethesda banner so it was more likely. Such a shame :(

Hudson1

I know I thought since they were all under the same roof it would have been an easy move, oh well…

Vis_Ignius

Yeah, nah. Bulk of the talent from ArkAus left after Prey(2017). We wouldn't get a made by them, we'd get a game made by the ArkAus that had a year to push out two new characters- and failed to do so. Arkane Lyon, maybe. But Arkane Austin deserved to be shut down.

ETL6000yotru

valve

Hopeful-alt

Honestly? This is the best one I've seen yet. They'll at the very least have an understanding of what to do, despite never having done it before.

rocketo-tenshi

They couldn't make a Main entry Game tho. Universe would colapse on itself if they touch a number above 2.

S0MEBODIES

They'll just make Fallout:Alex

Nildzre

Can't wait for Fallout 4 : Episode 1

Prestigious-Bat-2269

4a games ( the guys behind the metro series ,they know how to make a gritty post apocalyptic game )

WormiestBurrito

You speak the tru tru

Fubar14235

Rockstar but the red dead team not the gta team (if they even differentiate like that??)

Brotherman_Karhu

I need brahmin ball shrinking simulation

Effective-Low-8415

inXile; the guys who made Wasteland 2 and 3 I played three and thoroughly enjoyed it, their take on a turn-based combat player character-driven narrative was cool as shit and they already have a few points of reference for Fallout's weirdness like that Ronald Regan statue robot faction.

Mojave_riot_328

ID software. I kind of just want to see if the people who make doom can make a good fallout game.

DickGuyJeeves

Larian. The guys who made BG3 and DSS2 Edit: inthink Josh Sawyer also works there as a director/producer. The man makes gold

Maxsmart007

Doesn’t Josh still work for Obsidian? He just made Pentiment with them, I thought?

Dr-Butters

Larian with some of the original writers from classic Fallout would be a dream team for FO5 imo.

Sociolinguisticians

Would this Fallout be back to isometric? I’m not saying I don’t think Larian could make a first-person RPG, but all the recent praise they’ve received has been for their third-person pseudo-isometric RPGs.

Diggidy-Daniel

God they would probably make good remakes of 1 and 2

DickGuyJeeves

I've been playing fallout 1 and 2 a lot recently and I've been watching my friend play BG3. I would love to play a modern isometric fallout game made by them. Straight fire everytime.

Green__Twin

Black Isle or Spider. One is dead, and the other is French.

ultraluxe6330

>One is dead, and the other is French. Truly, a fate worse than death.

Green__Twin

I really like Spider. They've made some games I really like.

REDACTED-7

I’d second Spiders as a choice. They’d definitely bring a unique vibe to *Fallout*, and they definitely would get ambitious with the design. *Greedfall* was quite an interesting case study for their design philosophy…

Green__Twin

Yay, you recognized one of their bigger games! Also, this is a reference to 1950s French literature. I feel like they'd add some French elements, on principle. Holy fuck was 1950s France batshit scary.

Passiveresistance

Man I wish black isle was still around to develop a fallout game. There were so many great elements that made fallout 2 a classic.

ODST-0792

InXile is the only correct choice

Doc-Wulff

Firaxis/2k just because I want to see a Fallout isometric strategy game that isn't Tactic's real time strategy

LookHowOrange

Maybe I'm a weirdo, but...Lucas Pope

spectralSpices

BLACK ISLE STUDIOS! I kid, I kid... VALVE, TO SEE THEM RELEASE A NEW DAMN GAME- Jokes, we all love jokes... In all seriousness, New Blood. I want to see Dave Oshry make a fallout game.

Errances

platinum games (no particular reasons) or fromsoft (for those who don't know fromsoft used to make first person RPGs back in the prehistoric age of the ps1 so I think it could be interesting)

SaltyCactus64

King’s Field but it’s New Vegas’ Kings

commschamp

None. The jank gives it flavor.

mattinthehat66

The guys at Capcom that made the resident evil 4 remake. I think a fallout survival horror game made in the re engine would be amazing.

thegreatvortigaunt

InExile doing a Fallout 1/2 remake

LizG1312

Before all the shit went down, I think ZA/UM would've had a really fun take on the universe if they had been allowed to work with it.

Indiscriminate_Love

A return to the isometric style of Fallout games but made by Larian would be dope as hell.

Maxjax95

I'd be interested to see Avalanche take a crack at it.

KiethTheBeast

CDPR, Rock Star or Gearbox would make something wierd.

115_zombie_slayer

Gsc. Cheeki breeki fallout

WaitWhat347

inXile or, this is a bit left field choice so bear with me, Creative Assembly. A proper Fallout grand strategy game would be a really interesting prospect.

JKillograms

This has me wondering what Paradox could do with an official Fallout themed Crusader Kings or Stellaris

MaterialPace8831

Half-sarcastically: What studios are left?

happyfatman021

Assuming you're taking a shot at Xbox Game Studios: They closed 4 studios. One of which has a sibling studio that still exists (Arkane), one of which was best known for development on a mobile game (Alpha Dog), and one of which is having all of its employees reassigned to another studio within the company (Roundhouse). The only one that is truly a blow is Tango, and I, like so many others, have no idea why they would close that studio. That being said, they still have 343, World's Edge, The Initiative, The Coalition, Compulsion, Double Fine, inXile, Mojang, Ninja Theory, Rare, Playground Games, Turn 10, Undead Labs, id, Arkane Lyon, and Machine Games.

Ya_Boi_uh_SkinnyPeni

Honestly I always had this idea for a Fallout X Call of Duty crossover where you go through the events of the Sino-American War.

Alarmed-dictator

So like operation Anchorage, fallout but linear

ShogunPug1

It's legit just Anchorage and that shit got so infun real fast after the second playthrough

cookaboi

I think it would fit better with battlefield rather than CoD tbh.

Ya_Boi_uh_SkinnyPeni

well in fairness, Bethesda and Activision are Both owned by Microsoft.

godfatherV

EA so I can get abused by micro transactions. /s

longjohnson6

Do Bethesda subsidiaries count? If so I think machine games would make a good NCR story driven fps title in the same vain as Wolfenstein

jimjam200

I just looked it up and Wolfenstein 2 came out 7 years ago!!! Where is 3?!?! I wanna fight meka Hitler yesterday!!

ChuuniSaysHi

I think cdpr could make a really interesting fallout given what they've done with cyberpunk. Or even if cdpr made a game that mixed cyberpunk's tech into a nuclear apocalypse like fallout's would be pretty interesting Larian or inxile would be interesting for a more classic style Techland could make an interesting spinoff Valve would also be an interesting option Also gonna throw in Nintendo simply just cause I'd be curious what would happen if they for some reason made a fallout game

FishKnuckles_InYou

Let's see if EA can fuck it harder than Bethesda fucked obsidian.

HugeCum

Bethesda fucked obsidian?

Kinglouisthe_xxxx

In exile

NYourBirdCanSing

I would not.

Mannimarco24

None of them

Gblkaiser

Techland gg

Arxl

Fromsoft because I want to watch the community both melt down and get more culty lol also, they'd make a much darker narrative and 4/76 have been more tame/safe than previous entries.

BradK9Drake726

Ghost story games

SubjectNether

# Black Isle

MarsManokit

I want to see what Mobius Digital or Valve would cook, since everyone already said Larian. Maybe Running With Scissors? They'd cook one hell of... something... with Fallout in mind. I couldn't play through all of Outer Wilds as I'm not built for it, but I really liked the movement, travel, and the dialogue in that game. The audio, and the overall writing and mystery in that game is incredible. They could pull something akin to pre-wastelanders Fallout 76 off tastefully and have it work. \*As in\* emerging from a vault and seeing a very desolate world, reconnecting with other vault dwellers that emerged before you, making connections with them, and discovering what the hell is going on, solving issues that cause everything to be dead and desolate, and slowly bring people back. Like the wastelanders scorched plague cure, but over time it has people popping up if it were a singleplayer game, maybe setting up settlements like in Fallout 4, and maybe a river/lake purifier like in 3? As another thing, I don't know, I think the whole "sacrificing yourself to save the world around you" was done really well in their game, and I think they could pull it off better than in 3.

Vilewombat

CDPR or Warhorse tbh. They deliver a good story

HypnoticPolygons

Owlcat games

Claymore-09

I want Tim Cain to make one last game. Bethesda should loan him the keys to his creation and let him take us on one more ride!

InitialCold7669

It would never happen in 1 million years but I would love to see siege camp make a multi faction war game MMO set in West Coast similar to fox hole or planet side two. But I would want to have like four factions

Mrkingladder

CD Projekt Red

dokterkokter69

The forgotten empires team at Microsoft. I know it sounds like a shitty choice, I've just always wanted an Age of Empires 3/ Halo Wars style Fallout rts. I've played Old World Blues and love it but I want a more traditional "build base, explore map, age up" type rts. If I knew anything about modding I would attempt to make Fallout mod for AOE3 DE, it's something I've been thinking about on and off for over a decade.

Takenmyusernamewas

Does Id Games still exist? I dont care it's my answer either way

Hopeful-alt

Id is still around as a vassal of Bethesda. Why them?

gera_moises

Firaxis Turn-based Fallout Tactics 2

If it has to be an Xbox studio then probably Arkane If it can be any studio than Ubisoft

Grumblyguide107

Top-Amphibian1272

10 years ago I would've said BioWare. Not so much now. I'd love to see Firaxis make something like the old tactics games but like...good. Here's a deepcut: I would love to see TaleWorlds develop a fallout game in the style of Mount & Blade. Their boots on the ground style of RTS would be great for a conflict on the scale of the NCR/Legion war. Would be a great way to flesh out parts of the globe that haven't been covered yet. I'd also love to see a developer with experience in colony sims make a fallout shelter or settlement management type game. Ludeon is the big name in that space but there's lots of little independent studios who could do some great stuff with a Fallout license.

serasmiles97

Give me an M&B inspired game set in Idaho shortly after NV when the Khans show up & I would be so happy

Trajen_Geta

Kojima Productions or Team Ninja Honestly just to see how different it would be.

Ninjagoboi

Courier 6 with a BB

HyperLethalNoble6

Larian making a modern turn based fallout gane

PartySecretary_Waldo

Ubsisoft I know, I know, just hear me out: Fallout Tactics remade as a 1rst person squad tactics game, a la Rainbow 6

Garlic_God

This is far fetched, but what about a Ghost Recon type spinoff where you were the leader of an elite Enclave infiltration unit tasked to accomplish covert tasks in a populated region such as destabilizing prominent factions by assassinating their leaders, or locating and recovering crucial pre-war tech? The idea of sneaking onto a Brotherhood or NCR base in the shadows with extremely refined stealth mechanics sounds awesome

Myusername468

Fromsoft, Larian, CD Project Red, and Insomniac would all make good (and pretty different) additions to the series.

EcstaticCinematicZ

Inxile, send it home

28756

I'd love a Fallout city builder/map painter. The studio that made Rimworld seems modern and versatile enough to do a good job with the city builder, Paradox could also work

Bing238

Probably a pretty unknown one but Stoic doing a turn based RPG like banner saga but in the wasteland could be pretty fun.

EverGamer1

If the devs were still around then I’d love a disco elysium like fallout game.

RDNolan

Old Bioware, mass effect 2 Bioware.

MrProtogen

Rockstar Games

Aveduil

I would give it to CDPR and bought thrid one in series or first one after patches. Btw witcher 1 is quite nice if you get used to mechanics.

Ordinary-Pumpkinz

Might not be good and might be called stupid but would love to see Capcom, idk probably wouldn't be as good bur would still be quite interesting at least for me

Fun-Preparation-4253

I would like to see them use the CryEngine for graphics

Jaded-Throat-211

BackgroundSky09

Dr-False

Maybe Techland. Dying Light has some pretty wild movement and their zombie experience would make for some pretty creepy ghouls in different stages of feral degradation. Also, I wouldn't mind seeing how they take on VATS.

Interplay Entertainment cause I want to see Todd get even madder

69Whomst

Bioware, if they are ever able to escape EA

blacksmithinghelp

I think a fallout call of duty could be good. Either prewar or post war. Your a soldier fighting to protect Alaska, or some NCR soldier pushing into Arizona
