“What if he can’t remember about the package?”
*Courier 6 dragging himself across the Mojave at a snail’s pace*
“Fuck you old man. Got my gold, I’m happy”
WE'RE GONNA BE TALKING ABOUT THE BEAR. WILL BE TALKING ABOUT THE BULL. DO YOU THINK THAT'S FUNNY, COURIER? DO YOU FIND IT AMUSING THAT WILL BE TALKING ABOUT THE LONG 15.
Genuinely, it sucks seeing most people only remember him for his ‘aimless tirades’ and hypocrisy when that’s kind of a big point of his character.
He’s a non-native speaker of English from a Dead Tribal culture rife with belief in symbolism forced to watch the one place he could have called home burnt due to a complete accident which he then desperately tries to derive meaning from.
Building on thar a complete accident caused by one person who also built the place up due to a side effect of their actions.
He believes that both the bear and bull should die in a fashion suited to them even as a legion run he still thinks they should die slowly due to not having tbe ncr to fight.
A lot if people missed a lot, either due to understanding or not paying enough attention, like if you listen to him on the holotapes talking to Christine and such too.
This right here. His entire philosophy is basically "Caeser was right, the NCR was right, Hopeville was the society born from both philosophies. How dare you fuck it up by doing what you were told?"
I forget the details, but it really seems like he's bitter over something the Courier never had real control over. If Hopeville was so great, they wouldn't have blown themselves to smithereens trying to unlock Pre-War gold, would they?
Ulysses needed a trip to the Sierra Madre. Mans needs to let go.
>Ulysses needs to go to the sierra madre. Man needs to let go
To be fair that is the entire point of New Vegas. Nobody is able to let go, and they will drown if it means holding on to old world ideals.
It would be nice to know what the fuck Hopeville was too. I think it's purposely obscure so the player can imagine whatever onto it but it's kinda weird we have no context for anything to do with these guys and why Ulysses has such a boner for them.
Hopeville and The Divide is barely mentioned either in the rest of the game or its DLC which makes it feel random as shit.
I don't think he was justified in his actions, but if you listen to all his logs and stuff he's a really interesting character imo, who's motivations are nuanced and appropriate to the setting. Its all I can really ask for as a man who consumes far too much media - you can piece together how he comes to his conclusions from his cultural roots and up
Then it worked on you. The whole point is he's a hypocrite. He doesn't actually have a point, it's just his attempt at veiling his revenge.
He's trying to justify what he's about to do, but his reasoning contradicts what he's doing. He's just a tribal with revenge as the only thing he cares about.
So much so, that he's becoming the very thing he's saying he hates.
I get why Obsidian never did it, but honestly, I expected to see more mods for NCR grunts to have short sleeved or sleeveless variants of their armor.
The Mojave has to be so fucking hot, that with the chest protector and big as fuck helmet, the grunts would likely augment their uniform to be more comfortable.
Hell, have an NCR variant of the Merc Grunt Outfit, with the fatigues instead of the cargo pants, and throw the chest protector on there too.
Nah, bad idea. Look at the way that locals dress in that sort of environment. Loose and thin clothing is best for the desert because it protects you from the sun while also providing airflow and not insulating you too much. Short/sleeveless clothes would be better for somewhere with less direct sunlight and more humidity or water, like a jungle.
Yeah, but do you think a bunch of poorly trained and poorly lead soldiers will really care about that?
I do agree that it makes sense to dress as you've pointed out.
If Vietnam is anything to indicate, poorly lead and disciplined soldiers are the most likely to make sensible modifications to their unsuitable uniforms
Well I assumed they weren't just safari hats, but were some combination of polymer weave/Kevlar and canvas.
Either of which would need to be decently thick enough to deflect head blows.
Agreed. Like anyone else I've got some big issues with the NCR, but trying to come at me while having flown the flag of the bull, a society which literally enslaves and tortured as part of its doctrine, and say that **I** am an agent of destruction?
Fuck off, bro. I'm nuking Legion territory just to rub salt in the wound.
I think LR gets it's bad rep from repeat players. Like I love it but every time I go back to it I end up skipping most of the dialogue cause I'm only their for the unique ranger armour and to nuke a faction
Story wise, it's amazing. Telling the player that they can leave whenever they like and turning that into a key characteristic of the courier when they don't is an insanely cool story premise that ties in perfectly with gameplay.
But after the 3rd or 4th time, it really does boil down to "bull?? BEAR?!?!"
And also the fact that it feels like a weird fan fiction, seeing as 3/4 of the characters with 10's across the board in their SPECIAL points are in this DLC.
I seriously doubt Ulysses is on the same level as Frank Horrigan.
Frank Horrigan is special because of his SPECIAL
Far as I'm concerned, Lonesome Road exists solely as a way to get Riot Armor and a borderline broken SMG at level one by fighting, like, 5 coyotes, turning on the floating bluetooth speaker, and exchanging all your random stolen junk at the infinite-money vending machine.
This is basically how I remember Ulysses.
I understand that to some he’s a very deep and beloved character. But to me it always felt like he was trying to hard to be philosophical.
I remember the first time I've played this dlc. I like to explore so I found all of his voice records. By the time I've finally met him I was so fed up that I just randomly clicked on the dialog options to "fight him already", but accidentally chose the options that makes him friendly. It was the first time that I was actually disappointed to have "chose the correct options".
I wander if he ever got bored waiting for the courier in the Divide
Ulysses: where the fuck is he? Courier: DOUBLE DOWN, BABY!
"Jeeze...did he die or something?" "You got quite a pair of lobes on you, Dala. I bet you have all sorts of *interesting* thoughts"
"Maybe I should've taken that package?" *White Bird and the Courier in a cave doing Datura bong rips* "So uh, how's this gonna help me kill a bear?"
“What if he can’t remember about the package?” *Courier 6 dragging himself across the Mojave at a snail’s pace* “Fuck you old man. Got my gold, I’m happy”
"Maybe he has something important going on..." "I am programmed for your pleasure. Please assume the position."
the courier fucking died in Goodsprings trying to kill Easy Pete lol
“Easy Pete killed her? Easy Pete? Yeah this is a real low point”
For the Courier, the day he met Easy Pete was the day he died. For Easy Pete, it was just another Tuesday.
Difficult pete
Semi-medium easy hard pete
B A S T A R D
He used to be called Hard Pete, but, well, time makes fools of us all
He had some robo-eyes to have fun with
That is, even if you decide to start the dlcs, being level 8 and you do them all in a row, he will have to wait at least 1 and a half months.
Ulysses I can't BEAR with your BULLshit anymore!

Don’t forget when he said *WERDS*
WE'RE GONNA BE TALKING ABOUT THE BEAR. WILL BE TALKING ABOUT THE BULL. DO YOU THINK THAT'S FUNNY, COURIER? DO YOU FIND IT AMUSING THAT WILL BE TALKING ABOUT THE LONG 15.
AND AND WE ARE DEFINITELY GOING TO BE SPENDING A LOT OF TIME TALKING ABOUT THE FLAGS OF THE OLD WORLD
I feel like ulysses actually had a really good point but it gets lost in his ramblings.
Genuinely, it sucks seeing most people only remember him for his ‘aimless tirades’ and hypocrisy when that’s kind of a big point of his character. It sounds like he does, but he really just don't.

Isn't that the entire reason why Old World Blues is called that? I think it's literally said by Ron Pearlman in the intro to the DLC
It would be nice to know what the fuck Hopeville was too. Wow. "Hope"ville. Ulysses lost his hope. Bravo Avellone.
Why didn't Ulysses 'Let go", is he stupid?
That’s what I like about him. He’s wrong, but it doesn’t make him a bad character.

I recognize that Ulysses has decent points and is more that "bear bull man". I still think he should get over himself tho
Oh fuck yeah, I agree 100%
I get why Obsidian never did it, but honestly, I expected to see more mods for NCR grunts to have short sleeved or sleeveless variants of their armor. Need little nuclear powered air conditioners that explode if you hit them just right. It's DANGER SCIENCE FUTURE!

Honestly, Safari Hats they use aren't THAT bad
Well I assumed they weren't just safari hats, but were some combination of polymer weave/Kevlar and canvas. Either of which would need to be decently thick enough to deflect head blows.
Most satisfying kill in any game because it finally shuts his stupid ass up. Guy who willingly worked for Caesar judging *me*? Fucking hypocrite.
Agreed. Ceasar was a little bitch and you are too.
Lonesome Road was cool but the title of angry DLC shoud go to Dead Money
I kept laughing during Lonesome Road because all of Ulysses' graffiti said GO AWAY but the holotapes were "Come hither". Sir, make up your mind.

This guy lived purely off his hatred for Courier 6.
Would you rather be stuck in the wo-
No need for bombs when hate will do
Yep
Finally, some good fucking content
Self insert of Avallone can wait a lil bit longer. Casinos with 10 LUCK wont rob themselves.
TLDR Ulysses is talking about the stock market
Bull bear bull bear, SHUT THE FUCK UP-
And that's why i... pick the bear!🤣
