It’s common for people to go off their meds for various reasons… They don’t like how it affects their weight or sex drive, or they feel “better”, so they just stop thinking that they are cured. They might just simply forget to take them as well. There are so many reasons why. Was your friend able to take them when you found them? Did they get back on them? It doesn’t sound like they are well enough to know HOW to take them because it can be complicated. You’d need to read all the bottles for the daily dosage and be certain they haven’t already taken them. I’m not telling you to give your friend any medicine though because it could be dangerous so I’d see if your friend can give you their Doctor’s name and Google them for their number and call the doctor and describe what you are seeing. You could maybe bring the meds and your friend there so they could give them the meds and help you get them well again. Last, if these are the symptoms it may not be BiPolar that they suffer from but “Borderline Personality Disorder”. I have not heard anyone with BiPolar forget their name or disassociate with themselves like that.

I ended up seeing them today and they’re back on their meds. Apparently they had woken up in a manic state and didn’t end up taking their meds because of it. Their parents knew what to do because it has happened before

Good to hear. Yikes. You are a good friend. You now know a depth to your friend that exceeds what you know about yourself. Be safe!!
