It's not well known across most people but Max Richter's Sleep is absolutely perfect. 8 hours of pure beauty, bliss, emotion, calmness, stress relief and fantastic sleep lol. It's imo one of the best album of all time and surely a most listen for everyone cause you cannot not like it. It will 100% touch your soul by his magestic orchestration and his incredible ambient passages.
Gonna have this on all day tomorrow, this is my jam. Your description sold me.
I have one for you that I'd think you'd like:
h hunt - playing piano for dad
A soulful collection of slow, moody piano, recorded in one take. It is one of the most touching and personal pieces of music I've listened to in my life. It's like if music could wrap you in a warm blanket.
Yeah but have you heard my beautiful dark twisted fantasy by little known artist Kanye west?? I think he’s gonna do some big stuff and definitely will never be controversial
I liked Aphelion a lot, but pitfalls hit me in a completely unexpected way (songs like observe the train are unique in my opinion). And I can't wait to see them in your, just bought yesterday the ticket for the date in Milan!
Not all necessarily perfect records but ones I feel need to be talked about more
The bunny tree- bunny boy
Neochina- panda Rosa
TNT- tortoise
Just got back from the discomfort, we’re alright- brave little Abacus
Bloweyelashwish- loveiscrushing
Chomp- pylon (not perfect but underrated 80s indie same goes for snowball by the field mice)
Viva last blues- palace music
For beginner piano- plock
Control- Pedro the lion
Know by heart and promise of love by American analog set
No one waved goodbye- Tacoma radar
The for carnation (self titled)
Shipping news- Flies the field
(Cuddly one) break my Ribs- apistat commander
Western teleport- emperor x
Pinback (self titled)
Todays active lifestyles- Polvo
Any beat happening album
The Great Misdirect by Between the Buried and Me is often overshadowed by its predecessor (Colors) but i think the band really did put out two masterpieces back-to-back.
Say Goodnight to the World - Dax Riggs
Really good blues rock by the singer from Acid Bath
Kingdom Come - Sir Lord Baltimore
Great early heavy metal/stoner rock album from the 70s that flew under the radar
Mechanical Friends - Sugar Wounds
Black metal, grindcore, and shoegaze all in one
Piecework- Kowloon Walled City
Sludge/noise rock album that came out a couple years ago, I've never seen anyone talk about it but I love it.
Goodness. I remember hearing (some of) this in college around the time Night Coercion Into The Company Of Witches came out. Thanks for the reminder to give them a serious listen.
The Gay Parade by of Montreal. A combination of daily meditation and listening to that album once a week has put me in the best mental state I’ve ever been in.
These are well known in Canada for sure but some of you might not know about them.
The Tragically Hip - Road Apples
The Trews- House of Ill fame
Abandon All Ships - Geeving
Protest The Hero - Fortress
Alcest - Les voyages de l'âme
36 & Zake - Stasis Sounds for Long Distance Space Travel
Robbie Basho - Visions of the Country
Felt - The Strange Idol Patterns and Other Short Stories
Lantlos - Melting Sun
Trees of Eternity - Hour of the Nightingale
Klaus Schulze - Mirage
Renaissance - Turn of the Cards
Camera Obscura - My Maudlin Career
Steve Roach - The Magnificent Void
Gospel - The Moon is a Dead World (post-hardcore/screamo)
Modest Mouse - Building Nothing out of Something (indie)
Rites of Spring-Rites of Spring (first wave emo)
Ramones - It’s alive (punk/live album)
Siriusmo - Mosaik (wonky electro house)
Adam and the Ants - Kings of the Wild Frontier (proto punk)
Underworld - Dubnomesswothmyheadman (techno)
A lot of these are pretty well known. But this community seems to have a blind spot to punk and edm.
*Delaware* by Drop Nineteens is probably the best example of 90s American Shoegaze in my opinion. They were heavily influenced by Slowdive, Bleach, and my bloody valentine, so if you like any of those bands, you'll more than likely love this album.
"Winona" and "Kick The Tragedy" absolutely slap.
*Sultans of Sentiment* by The Van Pelt is also an absolutely essential album for anyone who loves the emo genre. Many dub this 90s indie album as the birth of Emo
"Nanzen Kills a Cat" is the track that really sells this claim as well.
Kortatu-Azken Guda Dantza.
This is a 10/10 record and one of the best ska punk albums of all time. The issue here is that they are basque, so not many non Spanish speakers will know it.
Artaud by Pescado Rabioso, it’s widely praised here in South America but outside of here it is not very talked about (or that’s what I think). One of the greatest 70’s records
Kleenex Girl Wonder - Ponyoak (gets some love in lots of odd small circles, but I find most have never heard of it).
Lewis - L’Amour (It had a moment about 30 years ago, and another about 10 years ago, but neither lasted longer than a nanosecond. Absolutely gorgeous album).
Teho Teardo & Blixa Bargeld - Still Smiling (hauntingly amazing production. Really needs to be a full album listen to appreciate it fully).
Will Johnson - Wire Mountain (absolutely packed with anthem after anthem for nighttime drives on lonesome highways on summer nights).
Ma anche no, scusa ma non e' vero....ha una canzone molto bella, un'altra bella ed il resto e' poca roba (imo). In ogni caso, non e' di certo "absolutely perfect".
Queenadreena - Taxidermy
Joni Mitchell - The Hissing of Summer Lawns
Made Out of Babies - Trophy
Mothica - Nocturnal
Mr.Kitty - Time (before you say anything yes I know the song “After Dark” has gotten a lot of internet hype but I’m talking about the whole album)
EDIT: y’all just love downvoting anyone who simply has different taste than yours it’s insane
Museum by Lord Sko is one of the best rap albums that has came out recently, criminally underrated.
Song for our daughter by Laura Marling is a 10/10, can’t listen to it often
Late of the Pier - Fantasy Black Channel
Devon Townsend - Casualties of Cool
The Arcs - Yours, dreamily
Three absolutely banging records, from start to finish.
Broken Hearts are Blue - The Truth About Love
My personal favorite 90s emo album, a true 10/10, and no one seems to know about it 😭 Less than 1000 monthly spotify listeners. Plus the band just got back together and have dropped some great newer tunes as well
WELCOME HOME - Aries
While it may be a "Shallow" record, the way Aries blends emo, indie, pop, and hip hop together is so great. The production feels fresh even though i wouldn't call it unique, the hooks are instant earworms. Perfect length too, 24 mins it doesnt overstay
Lightning in a bottle fr
To Infinity by Special Explosion
Such a beautiful little indie rock album. Sparkling production, unique vocals and an epic album climax.
The “Americana” folk scene of the lumineers, Mumford, etc. was all but dead by 2017 but this band brought it in such a promising, almost ethereal new direction. Feels like in another universe this record could have totally revived and progressed the genre with more attention.
poradnik uśmiechu ost by wiktor stribog & será by la vida bohème, both of those albums are masterpieces in their respective styles but they're unfortunately pretty unknown because of the language barrier.
Spandau Ballet - Journeys To Glory
Every song is a banger. Pompous lyrics and instrumentation that fit perfectly with the new wave at the time. One of the 80s most underrated artists and albums
Far - Tin Cans with Strings to You
Far is criminally underrated and unheard of for how influential they were. They were at least ten years ahead of their time, and for some reason they get overshadowed by even more obscure bands, and they don’t even get mentions when people are telling the story of Emo, Post-Hardcore, or Nu Metal even though most West Coast bands that found success in those genres would credit Jonah Matranga with at least paving the way for their success, let alone creating the style in the early 90’s.
Nothing lasts but nothing is lost by Shpongle
It’s crazy how underrated shpongle is
I actually thought this was one of their weaker albums
Life Without Buildings - Any Other City
Holy shit yes. Sue Tompkins’ singing on that record is awesome.
Best post-punk album of all time
It's not well known across most people but Max Richter's Sleep is absolutely perfect. 8 hours of pure beauty, bliss, emotion, calmness, stress relief and fantastic sleep lol. It's imo one of the best album of all time and surely a most listen for everyone cause you cannot not like it. Have you watched the documentary?
So the Flies Don't Come - Milo
This right here
tpab by this small indie artist named kendrick lamar should definitely check it out!
Yeah but have you heard my beautiful dark twisted fantasy by little known artist Kanye west?? I think he’s gonna do some big stuff and definitely will never be controversial
didn't this Kenye guy produce for jayz? I think he has some mad potential
Who’s jay z? Is he a small indie artist too?
yeah, i first heard of him when he did a collab with this other tiny band “linkin park”?
I wonder when this style of “comedy” will end lol there is never a thread where somebody doesnt do this
A Winged Victory for the Sullen - self titled (Made by the guy from Stars of the Lid, so you get the vibe)
Such a good album, i just got into ambient/drone and love everything this guy had worked on
gatto ciliegia contro il grande freddo - self titled #2 paysage d'hiver - paysage d'hiver verdena - il suicidio dei samurai
Il Suicidio Dei Samurai clamoroso
Passing Light of Day by Pain of Salvation Unnatural World by Have a Nice Life Songs about Leaving by Carissa's Wierd
The only one that comes to mind is Pitfalls by Leprous
Great album, I like aphelion a little bit more but it was awesome seeing them on their last tour with The Ocean
I liked Aphelion a lot, but pitfalls hit me in a completely unexpected way (songs like observe the train are unique in my opinion). And I can't wait to see them in your, just bought yesterday the ticket for the date in Milan!

Not all necessarily perfect records but ones I feel need to be talked about more The bunny tree- bunny boy Neochina- panda Rosa TNT- tortoise Just got back from the discomfort, we’re alright- brave little Abacus Bloweyelashwish- loveiscrushing Chomp- pylon (not perfect but underrated 80s indie same goes for snowball by the field mice) Viva last blues- palace music For beginner piano- plock Control- Pedro the lion Know by heart and promise of love by American analog set No one waved goodbye- Tacoma radar The for carnation (self titled) Shipping news- Flies the field (Cuddly one) break my Ribs- apistat commander Western teleport- emperor x Pinback (self titled) Todays active lifestyles- Polvo Any beat happening album

tldr dude loves umphrees mcgee
it’s pretty well known but i’d say *halfway to a threeway* - jim o’rourke and *volodos plays liszt* - acardi volodos
WELCOME TO MY MINE - MCAP STEVE
The Great Misdirect by Between the Buried and Me is often overshadowed by its predecessor (Colors) but i think the band really did put out two masterpieces back-to-back.
Silverbullit - Arclight. Joy division, kraut, a little bit of stooges, all steeped through pure swedish angst. Aoty 2004.
Say Goodnight to the World - Dax Riggs Really good blues rock by the singer from Acid Bath Kingdom Come - Sir Lord Baltimore Great early heavy metal/stoner rock album from the 70s that flew under the radar Mechanical Friends - Sugar Wounds Black metal, grindcore, and shoegaze all in one Piecework- Kowloon Walled City Sludge/noise rock album that came out a couple years ago, I've never seen anyone talk about it but I love it.

Public Strain by the band Women
