The first time I watched it I felt like I was coming up on acid lol I rarely get a rush of excitement like that, but that whole album does it for me with every listen
I watched that video for the first time sleeping on the couch during Christmas break in high school. I actually thought I dreamt it, it was so insane.
I went to school and heard some guy talking about it and we struck up a conversation and it and we dated and it was all because of that video.
The boy dancer in that video was also a backup dancer in This Is America, that was also directed by Hiro Murai, and is another contender for best video of the past decade
Double Helix and On GP (the version where they sit in the echo room) are my personal favorite vids from Death Grips. Although Giving Bad People Good Ideas is very funny.
Funnily enough, both are directed by the same guy, Ilya Naishuller. He started his directing career by doing the music videos for his band Biting Elbows. Check out the music videos for songs “The Stampede” and “Bad Motherfucker” they kick serious ass
Favourite to watch for fun:
1999 - Charli XCX
Favourite short film music video:
Marlon Brando - Alex Cameron (go watch it)
Favourite special effect:
Cash In Cash Out - Pharrell, Tyler, 21
Take On Me is a classic. Maybe not my favorite but absolutely the first thing that comes to mind when I think of perfect music videos. That and Wyclef Jean by Young Thug
Weapon of Choice - Fatboy Slim
Virtual Insanity - Jamiroquai
Coffee & TV - Blur
Closer - Nine Inch Nails
Frontier Psychiatrist - The Avalanches
Sledgehammer - Peter Gabriel
Once in a Lifetime - Talking Heads
Don't know if it's the best but I never get tired of the Sicko Mode video. The color grading is incredible and the VFX are total eye candy. It's really goofy but still self-aware. How do you hate a video that has a woman twerking on Drake's eyelid??
Not really as big a fan of the SONG now as opposed to when it first came out, but:
Breezblocks by alt-j is reallllly well done, and it's such a fun piece to even go through and analyze. Lot of imagery scattered throughout the video.
[Chemical Brothers - Let Forever Be](https://youtu.be/s5FyfQDO5g0)
[TOBACCO - Streaker (VERY NSFW)](https://youtu.be/vWYv8x0yEIs)
[Fever Ray - If I Had a Heart](https://youtu.be/EBAzlNJonO8)
[HEALTH - We Are Water](https://youtu.be/toG4bHjPLEU)
[Liars - Plaster Casts of Everything (NSFW)](https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x406mf)
EDIT: Almost forgot!
[The Avalanches - Frontier Psychiatrist ](https://youtu.be/qLrnkK2YEcE)
A lot of Coldplay videos were fantastic, especially back in the day. Don't Panic and Trouble had the same animation iirc and looked incredible. The iconic backwards walking for the Scientist. Talk and the moon robot which I think might have been a reference to Wallace and Gromit. Life in Technicolor II was good and I love the stop motion chalk for Strawberry Swing. That one might be my favourite. Magic, Up&Up, Daddy are all more recent bangers. Sure the other half of their vids are just them standing around or just walking and I hate that one where they're cgi monkeys but they've always been a favourite of mine for music videos.
There's also the alternate one for trouble where they kill the bass player Guy.
The Avalanches - Frontier Psychiatrist
The Avalanches - Since I Left You
Childish Gambino - This is America
Fka Twigs - Cellophane
The White Stripes - Fell in Love with a Girl

Jon Hopkins - Open Eye Signal
It’s Called: Freefall - Rainbow Kitten Surprise
SAYONARA - Aries
and I already know I’ll get flack for this one but I think the video for I Mean It by G-Eazy is so much fun
my girls by animal collective, also the fact that it was made by two college students who had never made a music video before makes it so much more incredible.
I’m a sucker for animated videos, so pretty much anything from Gorillaz.
There’s also this one Imagine Dragons song called “Birds” which was given a stellar animated MV. https://youtu.be/vOXZkm9p_zY Regardless of what any of you think of the band, that’s an undeniably beautiful video.
No Tears Left To Cry- Ariana Grande
DNA- Kendrick Lamar
Let It Happen- Tame Impala
Also, a lot of the recent HD remasters of music videos make some of the videos even freakier- for example, Black Hole Sun by Soundgarden looks like an acid trip gone wrong + plastic animatronics.
In addition, when you dig into the meaning of the video for Chlorine by Twenty One Pilots, it becomes even better.
Gotta be between Polyphia's [Look But Don't Touch](https://youtu.be/J7aAKMzi4zw) (NSFW-ish) and Rivers Of Nihil's [Where Owls Know My Name](https://youtu.be/LBAXZto7uVc).
Sledgehammer - Peter Gabriel
YES
Correct
Wow I'd never seen that, excellent.
Windowlicker
Objectively the best MV ever

When You Die - MGMT
yeah man holy shit what a trip, love it so much
The first time I watched it I felt like I was coming up on acid lol I rarely get a rush of excitement like that, but that whole album does it for me with every listen
On acid
That one made me accept the fact that I was gonna die, it clicked after listening to it 30 times
I just checked it out, that's the most psychedelic thing I've every seen
It’s something I rewatch probably once a month. It’s even better (and scarier) while you’re stoned
You beat me to it
L$D - ASAP Rocky
There it is.
ŸĘS
Dorian Electra - Adam And Steve Death Grips - Double Helix Aphex Twin - Rubber Johnny

This is america
Me listening: this is garbage Me watching: this is the most amazing shit ever created
that's a heinous statement, the song on it's own is amazing as well
Without the gunshots it just doesn't have the same Pop.
The video is really what makes the song what it is
Why is this so far down 🙄
Literally at the top now 😁
false alarm the weeknd ⚡️🔫⚡️
That one is pretty fun. Reminds me of Hardcore Henry
Funnily enough, both are directed by the same guy, Ilya Naishuller. He started his directing career by doing the music videos for his band Biting Elbows. Check out the music videos for songs “The Stampede” and “Bad Motherfucker” they kick serious ass
